    While playing PF2 the following thing happened to me. Three "bad" players and one "good" player. Misunderstanding someone who does not understand what the mechanics are like or misuses the character's abilities. Let's say, first action they tried to throw the opponent, they got up and walked away, with the warrior. Or I had a Thief that didn't flank and did a sneak attack, three hits and he was gone. That kind of things. It was explained, but they said they understood but they repeated it again in the next session. The "good" character felt that they were not using the character, thus changing the CR of the encounters. So... he felt frustrated and he understood it. Because of that violent balance in PF2, I changed the matches to LOW and TRIBIAL. But it was still a dangerous confrontation. The good player felt hurt watching them play. And the bad ones felt that the game was too difficult or frustrated because they felt like they had no impact. The most difficult point in more than 20 years as GM.

    For a while I used to produce videos on how to optimize certain parts of 5e (in particular making weaker classes more rewarding to play). More recently however I've come to feel that in a lot of ways I (and others who produce such content) was acting as a kind of crutch for the complexity of games like D&D/PF2e etc, and the need for such content is emblematic of how poor the design of those games are with respect to accessibility/ease of play. You shouldn't need to watch 10 or so videos on builds to make a Character who can keep up with those of experienced Players, and yet that is the situation those games create.
    Also as I look at the landscape of content for D&D and PF2e, a lot of it now seems to point to the idea that Players and GMs are often making "mistakes" in how they play, as opposed to pointing the finger at the *system* for either being too complex or not providing sufficient guidelines (soft or mechanical) to groups. Not going to name names, but look at the top content creators for those games and you won't struggle to find examples. As well as it showing how many creators are unwilling to be critical of the systems they play, I worry that this trend is contributing to the anxieties which Players and GMs have about those games.
    My experience of TTRPGs goes back to 3.5e, but I'm sure it's even more true the further back you go, and there was never a consensus on what was or wasn't "good" roleplaying, just what was "good" within the context of that group.

    I think it's hilarious how the start of this stream you opened with "I think it's bad that some people will send their new players to watch our tactics videos." Then I come in near the tail end saying how I did just that 🤣. To defend myself, I'll say that most of them already have the TTRPG intuition, that's built from playing other TTRPGs, just not PF2 specifically. I don't think having them watch your tactics videos would rob them of fundamentals I wouldn't expect them to have already developed.

    Healing in FF14 feels good for the most part because in fights you learn when you can start to prepare a more complex shields or heals to mitigate damage such that people dont even see their health bar move when a boss does a big AOE.

    I don't entirely think that PF2E healing is flawed. What I believe is that GMs need to learn to allow the characters to do many other things while the medic "heals". And if the intent is to heal everyone to full then I believe there needs to truly be some sort of downside (random encounter, plot progresses, characters run into enemies without their allies).
    I also believe that PF2E isn't bad to start players with, but if your players get immersed into Reddit/youtube/media before playing or becoming invested, then I think that is truly where the analysis paralysis, and overwhelming amount of choice stifles creativity, and leads to explaining of rules or mechanic instead of describing their actions. In this way the GM can't even consider giving some circumstance bonuses to their actions when they simply read the quick jump feat, or any action.
    Something I am going to be trying to push for in my upcoming campaign. A move away from reading out the ability being used to describing an action and then I'll ask for a roll instead of I recall knowledge, rolls dice, or Diplomacy rolls dice before even speaking in character or describing how they approach the social encounter.

    As a GM I would say for very new players don't start out expecting them to be very tactical. Make fights on the easier side and don't expect them to know how to ambush or split up enemies or whatever else you might expect seasoned players to do to make deadly fights more manageable
