Just got back from the beautiful country Malaysia. I am from the Philippines but I love to explore different countries and cultures too. We enjoyed our 10 day trip to KL
hi, i'm from malaysia. i hope you and your family are always happy. i just want to say, if you and your family are still in malaysia, happy holidays. if you've returned to your country and next time you want to come to malaysia again, you and your family always welcome to malaysia.
You guys always do such an amazing job of making us feel like we're right there with you. KL was our first stop in South East Asia, bringing back so many memories. From the Petronas Towers to No PDA to all the yummy food but I'm not so sure about the durian though, definitely an acquired taste.
oh, nostalgia looms through me watching this vid. i am filipino but i grew up in malaysia. now living in europe. the distinct difference between the 2 countries. malaysia get things done quick. philippines is more relaxed and chill. have fun in ipoh and pulau pinang. and chinese food is better in malaysia than in the philippines.
To all tourists, if you're wanna experience being in food heaven, make sure you visit night markets in KL or wherever in Klang valley. You'll be surprised of hundred varieties of delicious cooked food, Asian fruits and tasty drinks sold at night markets in KL and Klang valley. Google which areas around KL and Klang valley that hold night market tonight. We have night markets every night around KL and its vicinity. The famous one is at Jalan TAR near Sogo Mall. Or, you eat at Jalan Alor.
Thanks for the tips! We didn't make it to any KL night markets, but our next episode is in Penang, where we explored George Town and toured a night market on the beach 👍🏼
Ok so things you got wrong are:😂 1) Kissing among foreigners are not an issue. Even not an issue among non-Muslim Malaysians. Only applicable for Muslims. 2) You can wear yellow anytime. I have no idea where you got the idea that you cant wear yellow 😂. Lots of Malaysians and foreigners wear yellow. 3) Kuala Lumpur has been a 'green city' way before Singapore. Kuala Lumpur is also the only city in the world with a protected virgin rainforest right in the middle of the city. Check out KL Eco Park near the KL Towers. 4) Malaysia is the second most visited country among foreigners in Southeast Asia after Thailand since the 1990s. So we dont really bother the foreigners with our rules. Even in the hardline conservative states in the north-east of the country, we have island resorts where foreigners swim in any clothing they want. Peace ✌️😊
Anyway here's the list if the most visited cities in the world. Note: total visitors for Malaysia was 26 million including landings in Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and other International airports in Malaysia. 1) Bangkok 22 million visitors, 2) Paris 19 million, 3) London (also 19 million), 4) Dubai 15.9 million, 5) Singapore 14.7 million, 6) Kuala Lumpur 13.8 million, 7) New York 13.6 million, 8) Istanbul 13.4 million, 9) Tokyo 12.9 million, 10) Antalya 12.4 million These figures are from Mastercard International's survey btw

Thanks for giving us a taste of Malaysia fam... geez that Durian must be really bad for Erin to prefer her pit for palate cleansing haha... I figured Phil would like the Durian the most out of everyone. Kudos for your solid energy everyone, as you experience so much in your ever-changing days. I guess there are no Durian face mask demonstrations coming up eh?
I love seaweed!!! ❤ I don't blame anyone who doesn't like Durian, I'm not a big fan... But I'm starting to like it cause all my friends love it and when there eating I feel left out, and they make fun of me for not liking it, they say I'm missing a whole part of my life, lol 😆 maybe cause there all from Mindanao 😂 One of my tita's worked there in Malaysia for sometime and she can talking there language. Nice video Guys ❤ God bless your family 🙏
😆 the way your friends describe durian it makes me want to try it again. I wonder if we change our minds once we try the actual fruit and not just the flavoring of it.
Thats takuyaki.. and siopaw. I love your videos very informative.. nice trip .. i laugh at colt when he got rejected about touring on themselves but eventually gain another chance. Always be safe guys. More happy journey to come.
So cool Phil likes Durian! Hehehe You guys are so good with doing food contents! 🙂 More power to your vlog guys! Looking forward to the meet and greet with Mom Duty! Although Im missing Brooklyn’s bubbly energy. 🙂
Welcome to Malaysia , hope you'll have a good time here, the food, the culture, glad that you're heading to Penang, the place where food is amazing, don't be scared to try, safe journey
Everyone is allowed to wear yellow clothing nowadays, it just during those time. So no worries about it ya. My only advice wear anything to your heart desires but keep in mind that Malaysia is a Muslim country, and of course no dress vulgarly. Hehehe...
He he. Where do you hear about ban on yellow garment. It is ridiculous and no such thing. . FYI, Yellow is the official colour of the royalty of Malaysia
@AlwaysBeChanging you are absolutely correct... And what makes a good travelers is when doing some research before going to new places... Feel free to ask anything ya, we Malaysian will try our very best to assist you... Cheers~~~
There are many types of pau buns. Vegetarian, char siew pau, siew pau(baked bbq version), kaya and red bean, lotus paste, peanuts etc etc. What you ate is vegetarian bun i think.
@AlwaysBeChanging then it is Not called char siew pau or siew pau(as what some viewers thought). It is called choi pau. Choi is vegetable in cantonese. In mandarin, chai pau.
just one more - thinking of losing your kids in a big mall - our first trip to Hawaii - 1988, our son was age 3, we are walking and talking and suddenly Ryan was not in front of us. We back up in a hurry and there he was, he saw a small tree and decided he wanted to climb it. You think you are watching them all the time, but get distracted and they can be gone. Another 4 or 5 grey hairs.
For u guys info when eating nasi lemak, we do mixed everything especially the sambal or sauce.. Then we mixed with chicken or anchovies with other dishes depends on your preferences.. But without the sambal, it doesn't taste like nasi lemak.. One more thing we malaysian would use the spoon to eat rice if we want to because easier to scoop the rice and other dishes if u don't want to get your hands dirty.. If ur going to eat nasi kandar, eat with ur hands so u can taste it better..
Thank you! Our kids have gotten stomach bugs maybe once each over 3 years, so we've had pretty good luck. We suspect that eating SO many street foods around the world helps build up our immunity?
Those are permitted colour drinks, just drink pure juice. Be selective. Juices cost above 10 ringgit. Those costing 2 to 3 ringgit are just flavoured coloured drinks.
hi guys, local KL guy here.. In KL especially, its not really a problem to display affection to your partner, hugging, holding hands, some kissing.. especially if you are a married couple. its probably not such a good idea in the less urban areas, smaller towns, etc. as for the yellow clothing ban, that no longer exists.. the ban was put in place by a former prime minister who is now in jail for corruption. He banned the clothing because that was what protestors against him and his govt. wore during public demonstrations. hope you guys enjoyed your time in Malaysia and come back again soon.
19:24 It is "Siopao" in the Philippines. Actually, these kind of steam buns are available in a lot of asian countries, and - as with the dumplings - also very popular & native in Europe (where we mostly eat steam buns sweet with some fruit or jelly in it, and also like Gyoza fried in a pan with a milk crust) Would be interesting to find out if those two things all came from China (Baozi & Jaozi) or every country invented them on their own in their regions
I love your family's dynamic and sense of humour. Reminds me of "The Addams family". Especially Brooklyn's dark sense of humor and skepticism reminds me so much of Wednesday. Phil can definitely pass for romantic Gomez and Erin as sexy Morticia. Colt, you're just as adorable as Pugsley, but more handsome! Lol. Love watching you guys!
Yummy street foods!!! I’m interested that food with egg in the middle I’ll watch it again & see if I can make it. … listening to your comments I don’t think I have to try Durian 😆 ….. Siopao Filipinos say it as shawpaw , Phil really LOVES it , if he’s eating it every morning 👏👏👏 Love ur vlogs 😊❤️
The white bun from the Philippines is called siopao, which actually has a variety of fillings. So, if you're not a meat lover, there's vegetables as well. Ì kinda like the black beans filling, sweet but good.
@AlwaysBeChanging the best is in malaysia. Trust me. Here is canadian/thai couple Flora and Note comparing thai and Malaysian durian. ruclips.net/video/8qtDGz3RL3o/видео.htmlsi=jWuX4EuDAWlEoXay
@AlwaysBeChanging american durian lover/writer lindsay gasik regularly stays in malaysia with her husband to taste durians. Maybe they export them, not sure. Malaysia only exports to singapore and China. Those durian in Asian supermarkets in North America are thai durian. Not fresh, frozen for ages. Cracked at the bottom. Inside skin turned brown(instead of white). ruclips.net/video/vcvlR7vc86A/видео.htmlsi=Nmj599yLjFARwsci
Honest question: 1. How is it possible to Travel that much…? 2. How could my family and i achieve the same thing in a Short period of Time? 😊 Kind Regards Paul
Hi Paul 👋 happy to help any way we can. There are many tips we can offer. Hopefully you don’t live far from a major airport. If you are able to be flexible with your travel, that is key to finding the most affordable options. Our kids do online school so we’re not locked into working around school holidays. There are always great flight deals somewhere. Sometimes it takes me a while to find the right deal but it’s out there. We also believe in loyalty programs with airlines. Pick an airline that best suites your needs and sign up for their loyalty program and start racking up those points. Another key factor for us is that my husband and I are able to work remotely. So we are making money as we travel.
Sometimes we do that but when we're trying to point out all the ingredients in an episode, it can sometimes make sense to keep things deconstructed a bit. Super tasty either way!!
# 4 time 22:38 Erin's little necklace - looks like a tiny heart - really a small item - anything special about it , like a special gift or memory ? When I watch your stories and other folks travels, I try to see what is going on around them and maybe what they wear while traveling -
I’m so happy you noticed. Yes! There is something special about it. Colt got that for me for Christmas a few years ago. There are two small hearts. One reads “mom” the other one has R B C, the kids initials.
The dumplings were out of this world delicious. We walked around a lot. Not everything was at the same spot. It the dumpling was outside of a mall and it was actually a vegetarian food stall market. Everything was really very good. The stalls seemed to be organized by country; Chinese, Japanese and Korean stalls.
That’s The One Thing I Like Your Food Vlogs Guys Coz U Made it Very interesting , You Make me Get up on My Seat and Go To The Nearest Dumplings and Stem Bun Place Here in Los Angeles 😂😅😂 Makes me Hungry 😂😊✌️👍👍👍👍👌🙌
Some people who loves durian don't really like foods/drinks contain durian because the taste of the durian is so overpowering that you can't taste other flavour, like durian chocolate for example, you can taste the durian but only slight taste of the chocolate in it... and it spoil the taste of the chocolate if that is what you expecting and also the durian taste since its mixed with (although slightly) others... so the question is what's the point to mix them together 🤷🏻♂️. But not everyone though, many like anything that has durian in it but many dislike other durian products while loving durian fruit by itself. As for me, I prefer the durian fruit by itself, still can tolerate durian based products but NOT liquid ones like durian coffee.
@@AlwaysBeChanging so if you are up to it, take note that Malaysian durian have many varieties and its different in term of taste, colour and texture wise. For beginners, there might be difficulties to differentiate if they are not used to it or should I say 'not yet in the level of appreciating' the taste of durian. The top tier is Musang King and Black Thorn because of its strong taste, thus not recommended for beginners. If you like a bittersweet taste, go for D24 (and it variants like XO, Buttermilk etc.) and sweet taste go for Udang Merah (lit. Red Prawn, Red is Merah in Malay, Prawn is Udang)... don't be surprised because it not actually red red but reddish yellow/orange. Good luck!
If you want an authentic Nasi Lemak, go to the Malay restaurants, not Mamak ones 😆 P/S If you heard people say "mix it all" do not mix, what they mean is eating everything there together, this eat with that, it just a bad translation.
Welcome to Malaysia. Durian is an acquired taste and as there are different kind of durian you just have to sample each to see which one suits your tastebud and to get the real taste try the fruit itself first before trying other by products that have durian flavours
Thanks. We were hoping people would give us more information on it. You can google and study and learn about a country but it’s never the same insight as living there.
6:30 kissing/pecking is acceptable but not french kiss/making out 😂 hugging and holding hand is normal. We are a bit conservative and thankyou for respecting that ❤ welcome to Malaysia 🎉
@@AlwaysBeChanging Yeah, sometimes online articles/trip advices exaggerate things, so the best way is always to ask a real Malaysian about the local norms and culture.
A little too much bread - my wife is Filipino and we are heading there Nov. 13th. We have a home on Mactan Island in vistamar Resort - near Mactan New Town Also Banana Ketchup is a No Go for me. I was pen pals with my wife for 5 1/2 years, never expecting to get married - big surprise - married now 47 years.
# 3 time 18:50 Erin is eating the bow bun and talking with her hands with that little sharp stick in her left hand, I was a little worried she would stab her face.

Welcome to our beautiful Malaysia ❤😊🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾honest said, beautiful wife+handsome husband =cute and pretty kids you have🤭👍❤️perfect family
Wow, thank you! 🤩🤩
The white bun from the Philippines is called siopao, which actually has a variety of fillings. So, if you're not a meat lover, there's vegetables as well. Ì kinda like the black beans filling, sweet but good.
Thanks! We'll try the black bean ones next time :)
Enjoy guys.❤❤❤
Thank you!
Popular durian varieties in malaysia are:
1. Black thorn
2. Musang king
3. Tekka
4. D24
5. 101
6. Red prawn
7. XO
8. Village durian
9. Borneo durians
I didn’t realize there were so many varieties.
@AlwaysBeChanging the best is in malaysia. Trust me. Here is canadian/thai couple Flora and Note comparing thai and Malaysian durian.

You have to go to Wanjo kampong baru for the authentic nasi lemak
Thanks for the rec 😊
Welcome to our beautiful Muslim country 😄 enjoy!!
Thank you so much for welcoming us 🙏🤗
Durian word is derived from duri, in malay means thorn. You hv not eaten the real fruit yet. Those are ice cream and coffee, not counted as durian.
Fair enough. Thanks for the facts 😊
you really do your research
We try. But it’s never the same from a locals perspective. 🤗
Honest question: 1. How is it possible to Travel that much…?
2. How could my family and i achieve the same thing in a Short period of Time? 😊
Kind Regards
Paul
For the cendol you're supposed to mix everything first before u eat especially the brown sugar
Sometimes we do that but when we're trying to point out all the ingredients in an episode, it can sometimes make sense to keep things deconstructed a bit. Super tasty either way!!
nice family ❤ iam from srilankan🎉🎉🎉
Hello I’m Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 we can’t wait to visit there someday
# 4 time 22:38 Erin's little necklace - looks like a tiny heart - really a small item - anything special about it , like a special gift or memory ? When I watch your
stories and other folks travels, I try to see what is going on around them and maybe what they wear while traveling -
I’m so happy you noticed. Yes! There is something special about it. Colt got that for me for Christmas a few years ago. There are two small hearts. One reads “mom” the other one has R B C, the kids initials.
Now that is special ❤@@AlwaysBeChanging
Malaysia enjoy the food and shopping the white bun is Siopao
Thank you! 🙏🤩
Which part of KL did you eat the street foods (bun, etc.)? Is that a mall? Be going to KL this Nov and excited to explore the city! 😊
They were outside berjaya times square I think near Japanese mall lalaport. Those food stalls were just temporary as you can see canopy.
@AlwaysBeChanging your kids missed the indoor theme park inside the mall unfortunately. But it is ok, we have plenty of nature to see here.
At min 8:45 , the hot or cold mineral water question actually means room temperature vs chilled option.
Ah thanks for clarifying 😊
That’s The One Thing I Like Your Food Vlogs Guys Coz U Made it Very interesting , You Make me Get up on My Seat and Go To The Nearest Dumplings and Stem Bun Place Here in Los Angeles 😂😅😂 Makes me Hungry 😂😊✌️👍👍👍👍👌🙌
That a huge compliment! 👏🏼🤩 thanks. Happy to make you get up and get those dumplings 😋
Go to Cameron Highlands it is spring weather like in UK.
You guys should go to Malaysia Sabah Beaufort
Oh interesting. We are still looking forward to trying the actual fruit. I guess we’re easing ourselves into it 😊
@@AlwaysBeChanging so if you are up to it, take note that Malaysian durian have many varieties and its different in term of taste, colour and texture wise. Good luck!
IF you respect the culture and law of Malaysia, you are most welcome to Malaysia. Enjoy your stay.
Thank you 🙏😊
Yep, unlike "wild carlos".
I love the boy. He so sassy.
😆🤗 he is. We love traveling with him 🥰
Great ❤Sir Amazing
Hello beautiful family ❤️
Hello 😊
If you want an authentic Nasi Lemak, go to the Malay restaurants, not Mamak ones 😆
P/S If you heard people say "mix it all" do not mix, what they mean is eating everything there together, this eat with that, it just a bad translation.
Thanks for the tip! 🙏😊
Welcome to Malaysia. Durian is an acquired taste and as there are different kind of durian you just have to sample each to see which one suits your tastebud and to get the real taste try the fruit itself first before trying other by products that have durian flavours
We are not giving up. We will try again at some point and we will try the actual fruit.
Maybe because I grew up eating it but it doesn’t smell bad to me and tastes like custard.
Yellow is our national sports team colour. That why lot of local people wearing yellow tees or jersey.
Thanks. We were hoping people would give us more information on it. You can google and study and learn about a country but it’s never the same insight as living there.
Mom.. your description on the durian smell is so not fair... ha ha. A stinking smell may not be the same to everyone everywhere.
Fair enough 🫶
Hello i from malaysia
Hello I’m Malaysia 👋 thanks for watching!
6:30 kissing/pecking is acceptable but not french kiss/making out 😂 hugging and holding hand is normal. We are a bit conservative and thankyou for respecting that ❤ welcome to Malaysia 🎉
🤗 thank you for welcoming us. KL is a beautiful city! Looking forward to sharing our other episodes too 😊
@@AlwaysBeChanging Yeah, sometimes online articles/trip advices exaggerate things, so the best way is always to ask a real Malaysian about the local norms and culture.
Hey try karaoke place at Manekineko at Bukit Bintang much cheaper there
I went there. It was so cold (small room). Free drinks. Just buy food
Durian the best 👍
I want us to try it more. And we need to try the actual fruit. I’m wondering if it’s an acquired taste.
Siopao Phil... i like to teach my American friends to pronounce it like Shoe-Pow.
Thanks! We just couldn’t think of the name at the time. Phil ate one every morning in Manila. 🙏
LMAO that look on Erin's face when Colt was licking the bottle cap... Very similar to the face i would've made also hahaha
A little too much bread - my wife is Filipino and we are heading there Nov. 13th. We have a home on Mactan Island in vistamar Resort - near Mactan New Town
Also Banana Ketchup is a No Go for me. I was pen pals with my wife for 5 1/2 years, never expecting to get married - big surprise - married now 47 years.
Is it shoe or more like the shaw in the name Shawn?
@@chaoticheaven17 maybe… I grew up in US and Canada so not too sure of the exact pronunciation as it originated.
If you eat nasi lemak you need to mixed all of them together...then you will feel a real taste of nasi lemak
Thanks 😊
# 3 time 18:50 Erin is eating the bow bun and talking with her hands with that little sharp stick in her left hand, I was a little worried she would stab her face.
Don’t put it past her 😆
That one Pao in Malaysia ❤
😊
You get the best
