I knew a guy in AC who was accused of being the manager of a bar as it was being raided for possible human trafficking charges which in the Phils is an un-bailable offense. The guy ended up being charged with that offense even though he was never a bar manager anywhere in AC, but nonetheless, spent 7 months in the notorious Jail #174 in Angeles City. The only reason he was let out in advance of the charges being dropped was because he was losing it mentally. Thankfully, WZ, at least, doesn't show the mental scarring of being illegally detained because in that situation some people become convinced they'll never be released and will spend their entire life jailed for something that they didn't do.
Vietnam is my number one choice by far. I lived there for 2 years without any issues whatsoever. Visas are easy to renew, they did change the process recently, it used to be where one could apply when in the country before the existing visa expires, not so anymore, now they want you to exit the country before you can apply. My number 2 choice is Thailand, been there several times without any problems whatsoever, love the friendly smiles and the food. The Philippines not so, the BOI was unprofessional and disrespectful to me, not once, not twice but 3 times, that was enough for me, and I’m not talking visa extensions, I’m talking about when entering or exiting after a short stay. So two months was enough for me to not go back, what a shame because they have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world with the friendly Filipinos. My hope is that the BOI will change their ways, but I don’t see that changing any time soon. Malaysia is also similar to the Philippines, the last time I was there, the immigration guy, raised his hand with my passport to another employee and said something in their native language, which was very odd and weird. In short, the Philippines and Malaysia are on my list as my last choice. I know some trolls will contradict my story, but whatever. Just to be clear, my beef is with the bureau of immigration not the Filipinos.
I agree.. Vietnam was my first choice but lack of a retirement visa program was a concern so I retired 4 years ago in Thailand. I love it here and there is no way I would retire in the Phillipines. No infrastructure, really poor, terrible food. I traveled all over it but it would never be a place I would retire to

Look at the per capita murder rate in the Philippines compared to the United States in the last 10 years. In most years, the United States has a lower per capita murder rate
When you look at the amount of money that we pay to immigration and the amount of money that generally a foreigner contributes to the economy, whether it’s hiring people or building houses or just buying better quality products, do you think there would be a need for a ombudsman or somebody that does check out whether the foreigner that is detained is a bad apple or not?

If you are not in a very strong relationship or marriage with a Filipina who has multiple fairly high ranking PNP family members, then anything can happen to you in the Philippines. I am very fortunate to be in this type of situation. I was checked out from top to bottom by her PNP brothers, PNP sister-in-law, PNP brother-in-law, PNP uncles, as well as by their NBI friends. 3 years later, I am fully accepted and thought highly of by her immediate and extended family. I don't worry about getting any trumped-up charges against me, but if I ever did, I would not spend one night in jail. In the Philippines, power perceived is power achieved.
Amen to that bro. Keep that lady happy and if they want anything (minus funds) give them a gift once in awhile, and buy them a meal. You'll keep them happy and have no issues. I had no issues in PH but I almost got pinched at NAIA two days ago they tried to extort me out of money on the way out but I stand my ground. I was able to walk because I had my immigration extentions. Will never return. Place is hell on earth. I will return to mexico today and go to Japan in January. If you dont have PNP or NBI in your back pocket I'd stay OUT. You have been warned.

@PaulWorldZoom good because forging Government documents is a pretty serious crime not to me tion defrauding the Philippine Government into wasting resources, libelous slander (?), false reporting etc. He should do time. You came close to death from this ordeal. Had you died an argument could have been made for negligent homicide, or accessory to, contributing. He had to know these outcomes were a strong possibility of his actions. In the US they are prosecuting people that contribute to the death of others. Such as those who instigate riots, harass people into or encourage suicide or even coercing someone to do something dangerous. If so.eone has a reasonable expectation of a negative outcome for others do to their own actions, they are responsible. This was akin to SWATTING which was all the rage for a couple years until Attorneys General threatened murder charges against anyone false reporting in the case of a death. And, serious jail time even if no death or injury. This is no different.

Its your right to have your opinion, of course, but to get other expats locked up and deported because you do not like them. That is not ok. People should mind their own business
There was a report in the NYT of someone being detained in Thailand for a poor hotel review. The liable laws are very strict in Thailand and the threshold is very low. I believe the same thing can happen in the Philippines.
If I have a bad experience with a hotel or airbnb, I wait until I’m out of the country before I post a review, not while I’m still in the country. I did so the first time when I was in the Philippines for the first time before the pandemic. Airbnb wanted to charge me 12 dollar for some old rusty scissors that broke when I was there. That didn’t go very well.
I have to agree with the person I once heard say that the best way to protect yourself in the Philippines is to have a strong stable monogamous relationship with a Filipina and her family. I feel much safer here than I ever did in the USA. I once spent ten days in jail as a political prisoner followed by twelve days in a mental hospital (no mental illness, no personality disorders, no required meds) as a political dissident for the false charges pressed against me by my former unaccountable criminal employer, UCSB mafia. Even the local police admitted to the local paper that they knew I never crossed the line of any law but they had to arrest me anyway. UCSB mafia dismissed their bogus charges after ten months of trying to get me to accept an unacceptable plea bargain, two days before the trial because they knew they would lose and be publicly exposed as unaccountable criminal mafia thugs. No university in the history of the World has betrayed the human species and TRUTH more than UCSB.
@@PaulWorldZoom Yes, it has the shameful distinction of being the number one party school in the USA. They also mobbed and terminated me from my engineering position despite being promoted faster than anyone in the history of UCSB because of my quality of work, actively sabotaged my hire with other potential employers, blacklisted me, surveilled me, and had me harassed. I blew the whistle on them for violation of Federal Law when I observed them regularly breaking hiring laws, hiring foreigners from 'Communist China over better qualified Americans. Illegal background checks, illegal questions, illegal discrimination, hiring foreign interns and refusing to hire American interns. After inciting a strike in 2010 demanding IX-XI Truth, they quashed the strike with false charges against me leading to jail and committal prior to charges dismissed. They violated my 1st, 2nd(stole my rifle), 4th and 6th Amendment rights. It's so poorly run that there was an on-campus daytime Asian gang rape, a faculty member physically attacked students and wasn't terminated, there was a mass killing by a UCSB student, David Attias, in adjacent Isla Vista in 2000 where the killer was declared insane and then released from the mental hospital because he was allegedly cured. His father is a rich and powerful Hollywood producer. There was another mass killing by Incel Elliott Rodgers. You might have read about it. There was an alcohol-fueled riot in Isla Vista where UCSB police were hit by bottles requiring hospitalization. The Chancellor and his wife, both in separate incidents, have both hit and run skateboarders with zero consequence. UCSB mafia is above the law. After seven years of unemployment caused by UCSB blacklisting, I finally ran out of money and rather than become homeless or commit suicide, I used the last of my money for a one-way airline ticket to Santa Barbara with the airport being an easy walk from UCSB where I nonviolently broke one window (first offense) demanding long-overdue and still-imperative Independent IX-XI Investigation. I was inspired by Mark Kurlansky's, "Non-Violence: the History of a Dangerous Idea," and thought others would nonviolently break second windows until every university window in the Nation was broken demanding the IX-XI Investigation led by retired U.S. Army General Antonio Taguba and retired U.S. Navy Admiral William Fallon. My punishment: 4 months in jail Felony conviction; felonious vandalism 3 years probation 3 years gag order 6 months with GPS ankle bracelet $6000 fine for $600 window (paid in full) 1 year mandatory stay at VA mental facility in Los Angeles. (1 year and 4 months incarceration for a broken window valued at $600. The upside was that I was able to finally secure employment, although underemployment, with the VA, bought a house, did well investing during pandemic bull market, retired and was able to afford moving to the Philippines where i married and adopted her son. Bought some farms on Mindanao. Life is good although UCSB still sickens me if I think about it too long.

I guess I can be the news guy for this channel. Shocked to hear "How can you be 4 months wrongfully detained in Philippines". OMG guys, thats more like a joke than a valid comment. Do not ever make an enemy of some powerful person or government entity. Case in point: this woman was a Serving Senator in Philippines. She was a critic of the president and he hated her. So they made fake charges and locked her up. Not months - FOR YEARS. In the end, all the charges were dismissed and she was released. "" Leila de Lima: How I Survived 2,454 Days in Arbitrary Detention "". Look it up, you may be shocked. This is all current news, she was just recently released. Know the facts of what can happen to you / And be very very careful... I would never want to have to go through what they did to Paul here, the illness, the injury, the false charges. Its very scary.

I'm looking at the visa requirements for long-term stay. Cambodia has a 1-year tourist visa. I heard nothing but good things about Thailand, but the maximum stay there appears to be 60 days. I am reading 180 days for Vietnam. Any advice securing long-term stay in these countries?? The Philippines has better visa options.
Thailand has a variety of visas depending on your situation (for example destination thailand visa, retirement visas etc). Vietnam long term stays (short of investor visa) are quite challenging, though (i think most are doing border runs and hoping re-entry goes ok). I don't think any countries in the region have a tourist visa as generous as philippines (although the 36 month seems like it's probably starting to become 1yr in practice with the increased scrutiny of renewals).
I keep thinking about starting a youtube channel. I've recorded a few episodes but the attention and potential "jailousy" makes me hesitate. I have good relationships with many locals in Duma and Siquijor and avoid a lot of expat exposure. So maybe they would leave me alone. I'm in the US as much as I'm in the Philippines. My stuff would be recorded there and released later or involve things in the US. Any advice? If I make the leap, would you have me as a guest on your show?
Honestly, the guy that reported you that is a US Embassy liaison, should lose his privileges for acting out on his own and representing himself as US Embassy staff. You mentioned the BI thought he was a US embassy personnel. This guy, who is another RUclipsr, that just had a baby, should have minded his own business. If he does not like you, then he just needs to distance himself from you, no need to start trouble. He went out of his way to cause harm, and then making himself look like a govt official should come with some repercussions.
Immigration Philippines has long long ago cvaught the attention of foreign Gov. They will just tell their involved citizens:"We are aware of this problem, we are limited with what we can do. Just leave ASAP!!!"
If you were wanted by BIA in the Philippines and somehow managed to exit to Malaysia or somewhere similar undetected, would one be able to fly out of the country? Or would they see you're wanted in the Philippines and just extradite you back? Just curious.
Me too just curious? That was my plan when I was in the Phils. I finally just left because I knew it was not if I get arrested there, it was more when I get arrested there haha.
So, if they were basically holding you illegally for bribes, you should have escaped. In doing so, you would not have done something illegal since there was no charge against you. Those agents would not have been in a legal position to chase you in the city or go all the way to your condo. They would not have taken the risk or spent any resources to do that. You played along and they were glad you did, and each time you coughed up some cash, they saw another opportunity to ask for more. Plain and simple. Do you know who are the first friends you should make when moving to the Philippines, the mayor, the police chief, the local politician and the barangay captain. Those are your real friends, if you get them on your side, if you know what I mean.

Paul has explained in the recent videos why getting banged up in PI was not his fault. In Thailand he was improperly detained and not charged with anything. In Thailand he simply made a comment to a reporter who had come to his hospital to enquire why outpatients were being blocked from entering the hospital and the next day a front page article about it appeared in the Bangkok Post quoting Paul. That a personal choice, I feel much safer in vietnam over the US. A 70 year old was attacked by a young kid close to my house in the west, and I’m in a quiet neighborhood, had it not been for a Good Samaritan, he would have been killed. What a shame. Further more, in Vietnam, no one is allowed to carry guns, only the government or the police. The US seems to have a shooting almost on a daily basis. I love my country but crime now days is just too much, it reminds me of Los Angeles during the mid 80 when drive by shootings were a daily occurrence.
Yes, there are unsafe areas in every country, the US included. There are also wide open spaces where you can be very alone. The choice of where you live is yours to make. Good luck trying to save your ass from a communist government that turns on you for no reason. It's what you have no control over you should worry about. You have no rights or protection, no matter how it seems at the moment. There is also freedom of the press. Is Vietnam as safe as you think? The guy ended up being charged with that offense even though he was never a bar manager anywhere in AC, but nonetheless, spent 7 months in the notorious Jail #174 in Angeles City. The only reason he was let out in advance of the charges being dropped was because he was losing it mentally. Thankfully, WZ, at least, doesn't show the mental scarring of being illegally detained because in that situation some people become convinced they'll never be released and will spend their entire life jailed for something that they didn't do.
That is truly scary

Interesting, I hadn’t heard that
I have to agree with the person I once heard say that the best way to protect yourself in the Philippines is to have a strong stable monogamous relationship with a Filipina and her family.
I have never heard this before. University of California Santa Barbara. Is that right?
My punishment:
4 months in jail
Felony conviction; felonious vandalism
3 years probation
3 years gag order
6 months with GPS ankle bracelet
$6000 fine for $600 window (paid in full)
1 year mandatory stay at VA mental facility in Los Angeles.

Multiple visas are available in each country. Thailand and Cambodia are fairly straightforward for 1 year
@@PaulWorldZoom Right on. I am thinking Thailand. Great video 👍

Take care.
One place is Laos 🇱🇦
I like Laos
Is Barry J still abusing Filipinas from behind bars ?
How would he?
You get what you get when you go to a 3rd world country. Best advise I got out of watching you is 1) dont go there. 2) if there, leave. 3) if for any reason you do not follw rule 1 and 2 and do get involved with ANY goverment issue. LEAVE THE COUNTRY ANYWAY YOU CAN AS FAST AS YOU CAN.
Well said
@@PaulWorldZoom I was there twice for almost a year. I just knew it was not for me. It was just a matter of time before I would have an issue with some filipino there.
frank?
I can not discuss him
Battaglia (spelling)
I will not talk about that subject. Ask Paul about that
Do you think the ombudsman will set things right?
I really don’t. I know I hey are still Filipino
MT is a snake.
Agreed
Any old fart coming to s e Asia and fancies himself an expat should be jailed.
Thanks
We found the bozo Local in the comments
These old farts look in the mirror and think expat.
Locals look at them and think P prowler at best or Gary glitter at worst.
Funny funny
Hi Paul. While I respect my girlfriend’s values, I am struggling with the lack of sex in our relationship. I am 27 and she is 25. We have been together for almost three years and, although we are very close and intimate, we are not having sex. My girlfriend is Muslim and, though I acknowledge her beliefs, I am finding it very difficult to go without sex. I love her very much. We are good together. I don’t want to put pressure on her but it is increasingly difficult for me, especially when I am so attracted to her. I have sexual urges which I am struggling to control. We both live with our parents.I have had sex with previous partners but my girlfriend says it is against her religion. I am going along with that because I don’t want to end the relationship or get hurt, but physically I am struggling. What do you think I should do?
Go and procure a hooker obviously and don't tell your girlfriend. I think Paul would concur with my answer.
Oh wow, I really don’t possess the knowledge or expertise to offer any advice. Tough situation and best of luck
if you are Muslim you can take another wife in the philippines.
@@PaulWorldZoom Thanks Paul for the best wishes. I am contemplating your subscribers' suggestiion to procure a hooker. I am weighing that up v self-administered hand relief. I will let you know what I decide (I must admit I am getting a bit bored with hand relief). As to your other subscribers' suggestion. I am not Muslim so I cannot take another wife. I am not sure I could handle two wives. Imagine; double the nagging. But thanks anyway for the suggestion.
Do you have any plans going back to the Philippines?🇵🇭
No, I don’t plan to return
@@PaulWorldZoomvery soon “ Hey Zoomers, welcome to my place here in Cambodia, today I’m interviewing a very famous IRL streamer named Ben Newton, her in Phnom Penh”.
Is it sour grapes or you believe The Love Boat guy is involved?
You mean the gay roller rink guy from St George, Utah who owned Xanadu?
@@NiechZyjePolska48 who all he did wrong to start the 'war' was say he was annoyed that he had a guest on his channel who blatantly lied about everything he said. Yes, MT has done some stupid stuff since but all Paul's lies would have come out sooner or later.
@@NiechZyjePolska48 I think they are same guy? Got his wife pregnant to have a kid to get on SSN before he died to pass off his responsibilities to the USA taxpayers?
Thanks so much for watching
Paul has been to many Asian countries 🤔.
Yes he has. Paul is a very knowledgeable guy having lived in so many Asian countries, working in such important executive roles. We all can learn so much from a man like Paul.
Yes, I have
Paul, if you weren't a content provider you probably wouldn't have attracted the attention of hateful people.
I agree completely
Nonsense. Paul attracted attention as he looked people in the face and told barefaced lies, he has continued to lie and he is rude to people who ask him questions about his far-fetched and fanciful claims by calling them things like 'loser' 'turd' or 'troll'. If he had simply been a content provider he would be living the dream in PH right now. The sad thing for Paul is if you take his lies out of the equation, he is quite a good content creator.
So are you staying in the Philippines, and if so, why?
Are you dumb? Obviously he’s not in the Philippines if you have been paying attention
He's not in PH fool go back and watch his older videos.
I an NOT. Thanks
The best place is Europe
Enjoyable but expensive. Spain is reasonable
@@PaulWorldZoom I canceled all Asia from my plans , Spain is the perfect place
solution dont have a YT channel. theres no need
Perhaps good advice
again u give bad advice. Dont be telling people they can overstay 2 years in thailand and can just leave with a ticket. ARE YOU INSANE?? you will be paying $10 a day x 2 years as a fine First. And who has rent and food money for 2 years but cant pay $350 for a visa?
What are you talking about? I didn’t say that
I have listened to Thornton. What is your side of the story?
I was in prison for 4 months with no charges. That is my side
@@PaulWorldZoom To me bearing false testimony is not only a mortal sin but also a crime.
To hell with what the Philippines did. File suite against Thornton in any court that has jurisdiction to recover your 13,000 and compensate you for lost income.
Then their are damages.
If Thornton felt you had lied on him and defamed his wife in the Philippines he could have brought charges against you. ( The Tim Cain Case).
His failure to use the proper legal instrument against you ought not be ignore by anyone.
It is within your power to out line the path Thornton should have taken if you statement about his wife injured her and was a tort and a crime under the laws of the Philippines.
I want to see a video that explains why of you did violate the law in reguards to defamation why would her agrived spouse not rather file charges. Have you convicted. Spend a minimum of 4 years on prison, and 18 more months in administrative immigration détention and then have you deported without a nickel in your pocket.
4 months indeed tells more of your side of the story than you up to this point figured out.
@@josedelnegro46 Karma will take care of that; if you're religious, God will play a role in it.
What about North Korea 😂
Live it
First, ha ha!
Darn, I wasn't.
Yes you are!
Thornton you and Antonio Omar please tell us? If this guy was on the hook for 5 years and 6 months of lawfully detention why did you report no crime and settle for 4 months of administrative immigration detention?
You say he defamed your wife. Ok. That is against the law in the Philippines.
Did you two not have a case? Was it just that your feeling were hurt? Is there too much free speech in the Philippines? So much so that when his speech was allowed under law you guys back stabbed him?
Come out with it gentlemen cuz your 2 plus 2 shure in the hell does not make 4.
