I have watched "The Sound of Music" every year since I was eleven years old watching it in a movie theater with my parents. It has been almost fifty years. As a black child-Living in the inner city of Chicago -this did not prevent me from seeking a world that I knew existed outside of my block. My parents-and This movie played an integral part of this. Thank you for sharing it. It brought back such beautiful memories. I am passing this legacy on to my 3 grandchildren. You are appreciated.

I first saw The sound of music when I was 6 years old at the local cinema. I am now 58 years old and never miss an episode if I can help it. I love the part when the Captain joins the children in singing and ends up hugging them all. I always love the end when the soldiers clamber into their cars to chase after the Captain and their cars won't start. The nuns holding up the parts of the engines, the coil of one and the distributor of the other .
The interesting thing about this movie is that the emotional level of the story changes for the viewer over time. The real passion and power of the love between Georg and Maria is revealed slowly, starting before either of them is aware of what's happening. There was so much that I failed to appreciate when I first saw this movie at age 18.

I have seen this film 37 times...From the age of 13 I really believed that love and life can be like in Salzburg that time. Now....when reality, life and so-called-love-exercise and hard reality has been somewhat different, I can still,..........believe.that life and love can be WHATEVER...even more pretty than theirs. Because they are.....just actors. In a fantasyfilm. In true life the lovestory is 100 times more touching and dynamic. Sorry. Julie and Christopher. I love you.
