I've found about 30 or 40 albums in the last year. Used to be able to pick up 200-300 a year back in the eighties and nineties. I focus on cd's now because you have better variety, less competition and low monetary investment...
Plus there's some stuff that was only produced in that format.

Same here, back in the 80s to 2010, I had no problem finding records at thrift stores, but now it's a bit rare.

I am fortunate to find excellent records at thrift shops here in my region ! I had another haul of Soul R&B 70's.. 160 records for 60 cents each ! Nice job on fishing that Jeff Beck and Wild Tales" out of your local shops ! 😅

I network a lot.. my last video, I went to a thrift shop..( it's the only high priced one in my region ) normally, I talk to people to see if they have records for sale.. A man approached me and it turned into that very inexpensive haul that I mentioned. When I strike out, I often make connections. I buy from my brick and mortar also and don't mind paying up for something I want.. but the networking really works ! @@johnmoreno96

Kenny...that Tom Jones record, "Green Green Grass of Home" is an audiophile recording. Also, I noticed that Mr. Big album on the Command label. That was Enoch Light's label from the late 50s and 60's. They all had incredible sound and top notch musicians. They were a vehicle to demonstrate the then new stereophonic sound. Grab some if you don’t have any. They are a fun listen.

    Aloha Kenny,
We have the same type of records here in Honolulu Hawaii also. According to what you showed looks like some people visited "Polynesian culture center" on the island of Oahu & bought a record album as a Souvenir. Thanks again Kenny for sharing that when it comes to Savers, Goodwill, Salvation Army sad to say we have the same standards of Vinyl. Lol.....
Looking forward to watching your next video.

Back in 2012, you could get some real gems. Today, you are lucky to find an album at a thrift store that you would consider listening to, isn't scratched or hasn't got the cover falling apart. I really don't find the original Broadway cast of Pippin an album that I want to run home and throw on the turntable. Some albums from back in the day have me wondering why anyone would waste good money recording and manufacturing them.

I stopped thrift store record shopping, here in Pasadena it’s a waste of time. There is always overpriced junk, it’s not what it used to be. There are some very good record stores near me that sell excellent used records for reasonable prices. My record collection continues to grow quickly from those stores. Thanks for the video….✌

The most valuable records in my collection were thrifted for a dollar. Back when I used to go to goodwills three times a day or more. You need to be there when they bring them out. Down here in Florida there are people that stand in the back of the store ALL DAY, so nothing good stays on the shelf.
The last 3 holiday seasons I’ve thrifted the OG Ray Charles Christmas record in NM condition all three times!

Here in California some of the serious buyers who resale stand in the back of the store also. Just like you mentioned they are there for several hours and they go back and forth between local thrift stores doing the same thing.

If you can find a thrift store like St. Francis of Assisi or another thrift store where all the proceeds go towards re homing stray cats and dogs, there you will finds hundreds of records and DVD for 50 cents or so. Look for animal based thrift stores . They are the best!

Hi from Australia Kenny. I so relate to this! I have been collecting LPs and 78s for over 55 years and have almost given up on thrift shops. (we call them opportunity shops here) All of a sudden the charities have decided everything is rare and collectible and now they have some "expert" sometimes price them individually - the result being Tijuana Brass, Greatest hitz of the 70s etc. At $10 or more. It would be far better if i collected CDs. Some real bargains to be found! I really have to find another way of boosting my collection!

They do the same thing here in the states, a lot of the thrift stores out here are raising price simply because they are record albums and the they think that all records have some significant value. Thank you very much for viewing my video from Australia ✌️

7000 LPs oh my! I think your wife needs to tag along more often (just kidding). I follow a similar process like you and usually I don’t find anything worthwhile. I found a nice double LP by Johnny Mathis that I cleaned last night and it sounds amazing. Once in a great while you run across a nice haul and the anticipation is the driver.
Lately I have much more luck finding CDs than LPs.
So how many copies of Sing Along With Mitch do you own? He’s everywhere. Be well Kenny👍👍

Two or three times a week? That's dangerous, even if you don't buy anything! With as many records as you have, being wary of duplicates is a good idea. If you play a particular LP a lot, multiple copies makes some sense. I ordered an Art Blakey LP last week, then realized I already have it (the different cover fooled me at first); had to cancel that LP from the order.
Never been to a thrift store looking for records; it wouldn't occur to me. I am familiar with many of the artists shown in the video, but wouldn't be likely to buy anything there; my tendency has been to look for sealed records, which I did a lot of a few weeks ago; scoring 15 LPs in 10 days from 3 stores. Haven't played any yet.

      @kennysaudiophilerecordreviews  9 месяцев назад

15 sealed records is a great score 👏 👌 👍. Thrift stores can be a great source to find some records but in recent years it hasn't been as good as past years.
