This being the most outrageously good haul of the two ! I asked the worker if I could film when I was allowed to see these two boxes in the back part of the store.. hence this video !

Thanks , Ben.. Good score, absolutely ! 35 or so total bangers at .25 cents each..and the rest are perfect records anyway. We just drove home from San Francisco. I found two LP's from... The Saints ! I am very plessed.." Eternally Yours and " All Fools Day" . Also NSW's The Tenants debut.. you know, that pub rock outfit early eighties. Found them in the clearance bin . SF was a complete blast. I was stunned flipping through these two boxes in the side room on that thrift shop ! I was lucky that they let me at them first. Rarely do they have any records , at all ! I still check in all over town, and yesterday, I pretty much struck out ! Thank you.✌

Dang, I think I'm gonna have to go to Reno and find that. 25 cent joint. I haven't seen that price for many years. But going 1 time just doesn't get it.

Thanks Harry ! At that shop, I have gotten to know the guys in the store.. Sometimes they call me to let me know records came in.. which is rare. This time.. they did not ! I had a hunch, and those two full boxes were in the back room ! I bought almost all if them. I have a wide range in taste, so I will enjoy most of these titles.. Thank you ! 🤚
There are still 4 stores that charge .25 cents only.. although, they rarely have records.. unless I check often.. which does help !

The condition of the albums is stunning. You already shared this win with me, but seeing this in real-time is just amazing. Could not have happened to a nicer person. The Parade album is flawless and contains some of Prince's most beautiful music. Wendy and Lisa's contributions are all over that one. Broken Frame is just great. NEW ORDER!! Junk Culture is fantastic. You be good to my Mary Jane Girls!. Lots of 80's gold. Police Singles is a gem. Wow, Jt. This is why we keep at it.

4 stores ( thrift ) still sell vinyl for .25 cents.. although they rarely have records, it's still worth checking.. obviously ! Whoo hoo !!! 😄
I'm stupefied! 25 cents per. That's freaking amazing! It must be because of where you're located. I'm in SoCal and the cheapest I've found at any of the local thrift stores is 3.99 and in sh__tty condish. So good for you. And great that you paid it forward with the donation.
I saw your comment earlier.. I was at work, off now ! It is because of where I live ! Historically Reno/ Sparks and Carson City have always been good for thrifting ! I was in Anaheim and was shocked at the 3.99 per record price.. although I did find some great stuff that day ! There are still 4 thrift shops with .25 cent records.. They rarely have anything, but I network, and get to know the folks that work around town , That definitely helps ! Thank you for checking this one out..🥲

New Order and Depeche Mode were phenomenal finds. I had a Goodwill score like this a couple of years ago, all NM 70s rock. You need to go everyday if you expect to find this kind of sticf

Congrats JT. Patience certainly paid off. Lots of soul and R&B. I had a coworker in the USAF that only recorded to cassettes and stashed the albums. He would only play the cassettes. I imagine in time those albums would mirror the collection you found. Or they had so many records that listening to them all is impossible 😞. Many of mine are gonna be judged that way. Great haul. The guy possibly passed away.. because it was a thrift store donation, I don't know for sure.. It is interesting how we can tell a great deal about where records come from. In record stores, folks don't realize that many of those records have been recycled many times ! That's why I thrift, actually.. I buy new, repress and from all kinds of sources. All in very good condition, love it, this was how i collected all the vinyl back in the ninetees when everyone were on cd bandwagon, since Discogs cane, all prices got jacked up high and i stopped collecting.
So true ! For me.. My area, Reno.. Has always been good for thrift stores, 2nd hand records ! I just scored 18 more , very similar to what you just saw.. same condition ( mint ) for 3.75 !! I donated 4 dollars more, so 7.75 for 18 minty records !

I have that New Order album and it goes for around $100 median on Discogs and You got it for a Freakin' Quarter! Envious about those Depeche Mode albums. They go for a pretty penny as well!!!
I got lucky.. Timing is most of the factor in thrifting ! This was one of my best scores in two years, actually ! I make a lot of connections out there in the wild.. You are the thrift store king and I am a peasant when it comes to thrift stores. I was just playing that Ranking Roger album a couple of days ago. some nice 80's records by Yaz, Depeche Mode and OMD. I don't know if you're doing the next guy a favor by leaving Kenny G. Ha Ha. You had a great haul.
I admit.. I took the Kenny G as well ! It is sealed perfectly without a cut-out ! I will save it for trade, or sale, or whatever ! Some don't really like thrift stores, and I get it. Once you get established and they know you, it really helps ! I talk to all of them, well most of the nice folks that work in the shops. I even went back for 3 Andy Gibb titles. I want to hear those hits that he had back in the late 70's. 25 Cents and in perfect NM to M condition. all ! The Elvis is the only odd ball at a VG+

Hi JT. Nice to see you back finding records in minty sleeves. They all looked great on screen. I can't say I'm blown away with many of the artists, but I think I would have picked up nearly all of these at such a giveaway price ... I'm loving Wham at the moment, after hearing Andrew Ridgeley and Pepsi on BBC radio the other day talking so eloquently and fondly of George Michael and their days in Wham ... Nice touch to give a donation to the charity too.
Actually.. I like and will keep 60 or so of these, and eventually sell some records. I'm not ready yet.. By next year I would like to do local pop-ups ( record sales ) here in town. Several of these are upgrades from my collected records !
Wham is fun, and all of my UK bands 1980's synth pop and Depeche Mode records. I am thrilled about !

It's a thrift store, actually, and these were all donated. Usually, the guy in the back of most thrift stores ( especially Goodwill ) holds stuff back to sell online, or.. They keep the good ones. Somehow, these filtered through all of that, and I was the first one there,plus.. I know the Mgr. 😊

I did get some real gems out of these two boxes ! The stuff like Dionne Warwick, Andy Gibb, Johnny Mathis.. I'm not too keen on.. Still, I will listen to them ! I knew when I looked at substance.. the value is high in this mint condish ! I really have been on a roll , for quite awhile now ! If your'e in Reno ever Brian.. We will.. "Hit The Bricks" and see what we can find !

You're correct about some spun them to cassettes, while others onto reel-to-reel, and even onto S-VHS (stereo heads) T-120 & T-160 tapes. Way before all the digital formats.
Yes.. We are of that time frame, for sure ! I would do playlists from vinyl to cassette, and record entire records onto cassette as well ! I think my hunch is correct about this fella who owned these records ! I will take very good care of them for him..

I did know that about Yazoo.. We get used to the US slang names of bands over here, like.. The English Beat, and so on. I have been very lucky, again in our ( Charity shops ).. thrift stores ! My town is notoriously good for records, and prices under 2.00. My favorite Earth Wind & Fire song is.. " Devotion" with the great Phillip Bailey vocal ! Unreal !!! I had one like this 2 years ago.. Peter Gabriel, Yes, Michael Oldfield, Genesis, Cheap Trick.. all Near mint also at a thrift store.. Those were 1.50 each, though. There is still good stuff out there if we put the time in . Thanks for watching this one..
Dude, you CRUSHED this one! Those records look to be in great shape. And .25 per? You’ve got a good thing going in your area. Thrifts around me are wise to the “vinyl resurgence” and send their best albums out to be sold online. Ugh. Miss 5-10 years ago!
Exactly.. Many thrift stores sell online and Goodwill is notorious for doing just that ! Another reason to network ( if your into it ).. and get to know the folks that work there, breaking down that barrier if they like a customer. When I buy some records sometimes, I can tell the really good stuff has been held back.. in the back of the store ! Bill used to work at Savers and other stores. He tells me all about this deal.

I very good pick up better price than what taco picked up in the shed a year ago i like picking up 80s gold all i picked up was electric warrior this week fro T rex it was pretty minty though ,still epic pickups.

I live in Reno, Nevada ! Some stores still have .50 cent records, and I know a place where they are .25 cents ! ( They rarely have records, though ). Thanks for watching ! 🎵

Hi JT, you must be running out of storage space! I would hire you for our purchasing group as you always find the best deals. A mint copy of Substance is over $100 on Discogs. I still have my original copy I picked up when it was first released. Yaz and Depeche Mode are perfect examples of the best of 80s pop/alternative. I don't know that Cocteau Twins album. You really hit the lottery JT! Deals, deals, and then more deals! ✌

Hey Chris ! These records were so perfect.. I went to leave the Kenny G.. Then noticed it is sealed ! I.kept it..I can always trade or sell it in the future. So many good titles, though.. And mostly unplayed records with flawless jackets !

Great album ! I'm lucky that was in these two boxes.. You have to understand, I had first try at these thrift records at 25 cents each. I had to move along very quickly before someone walks up behind me wanting to have a look. Also, I film, obviously with a camera in my right hand. I was blown away by the NM condish of almost ALL of these records ! One of my best hauls in years ! Cocteau Twins for the win.. Thanks ! 🎵

Near-mint condition probably because we transferred our records to a high-quality gold label Maxell cassette tape where they could be played in boom boxes, cars, and cassette deck, then shelved the records, rarely to be played again. We have many thrift stores around here, but none charging $.25 a record. Most charge $1 to $2. At a Salvation Army, I was able to get a entire shopping cart full of 70s and 80s R&B records at $.80/each after making a deal with them to buy all of them in the cart. Salvation Army will sometimes make a deal if you buy many records/CDs at once because they need the freed-up space. A Salvation Army here has truckloads of books in their back warehouse they never get out. I was able to buy what looked like a local Country Radio Station's record collection in the Salvation Army Store's warehouse. The manager said "I've got too many records back here dumped off and you can have the lot (500+ records) for $100." You just never know until you get to know the manager at these places. If they know you collect, they'll give you heads up.
Most of ours charge 1 to 2.00 as well. Still 4 stores here .. 25 cents. in Carson City, some stores charge 50 cents, but mostly 1 dollar. I really feel the original collector did just that.. Shelving the records and transferring to tape. They are perfect records, and play dead quiet ! Thanks for watching ! ✌️
The $40 didn't even pay for that New Order Substance record. Had me drooling over some of those. I have a lot of those new wave albums (or maybe all of them), but not in shrink. Why not even a mention of the Bob Marley record flipping through the box?
I'll mention it now ! LoL !!! I lived in the Caribbean from 1986- 1989 and he was referred to as.. "King Bob" ! On his birthday.. The Banks and businesses closed Feb. 6th ! My Jamaican friends said that never happened on the island.. but in the West Indies ( St. Thomas ) it did ! I am a Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Yellowman, And Third World fan as well. Thanks for looking in on this amazingly lucky haul !

If I found that lot 10 years ago I'd be hey cool. Now I'd be 😮. Good score. I'm just going out on a limb to think that collector was an old gay guy. Garlands is an early Cocteau Twins album when they had their post-punk new wave sound but it's really good. Donna Summers self titled '82 release isn't her best known but has some wonderful tracks. All the early Depeche Mode is killer!

What a score, and I have really been having fun with 70's 80's Soul /Pop music lately. Yesterday I found Krystol "Talk Of The Town" (1985 ) for 1.00. Their version of "Love Is Like An Itchin' In My Heart" is on fire ! The Supremes did it first, I believe.. Thank you ! ( I subbed you as well ).
@@jtsrecordroom3963 I have digital copies of Krystol's first two albums but they would sound a lot better on vinyl obvs. They have that great cheesy mid 80s synth funk sound akin to Prince's productions.
@KingFahtah I like it !! A lot of fun to spin.. my 9 year old was break dancing ( kind of ) to the Krystol record ! Sometimes it is nice to get a break from serious music ! It does sound good on vinyl, for sure !
