I clicked in because I like this guy and appreciate the benefits I can gain from a collectors knowledge. But I also had some trepidations because I already have more records than I have time for, and this guy always brings it, strongly. what I feared , happened, now I want a Tania Maria record , that artist is so strong , even I have heard of her, but I never had any direction to avoid buying a dud. Free jazz is the inevitable progression of jazz as a product of being in the moment , and best heard without expectations, as if in a live club from where it came, responding to the audience , or in recorded form , another's musical statement. it is a performance art, unlike painting or sculpture , born of collaboration
Brother Kenny, Tania Maria is fantabulous, as you would say! I have 'Come with Me' from 1983 and 'Made in New York' from 1985, both amazing albums. She has a style all her own! Love Eliane Elias, a female piano player/singer and Azymuth, a fantastic Brazilian fusion band as well! Peace and love my brother!
Elaine Elias is a very good performer...I only have one of her albums ("So Far So Close" on Blue Note Records) but it is very nice 👍 👌...peace and love and I hope that you enjoy your weekend ✌️
Another great video Kenny. I haven't listened to Tania Maria in a long time so I pulled my copy of The Real Tania Maria: Wild! recorded live at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco September 1984 (released 1985) and gave it a spin. Fun live versions of hits from previous albums. Thanks for the reminder of a talented artist.
I checked out all 3 of your recommendations & the two that I liked were the Tania Maria album (Piquante) & Moacir Santos album (Opus 3). The free jazz album by Anthony Braxton, just like you said, had some good grooving bass to it. At times, it felt like the songs could be used for an experimental movie as theme music for different scenes. Spike Lee comes to mind.😊👍
Wow Kenny! was just listening to that Anthony Braxton album two days ago. I love it. Actually "You stepped out of a dream" I'll sometimes skip, if i'm just in the mood for the free jazz. It's so different from the rest of the album. Love the whole album though. I have several of his records. Good job.
