- Ever wanted to know what the differences are between the Quest 2 & the PC in VR? Well, this is a video about the Quest 2 upgraded graphics on Beat Saber. But I have made a few other video's in the past about this very topic but those videos are outdated now so I decided to make a new video about this.
#BeatSaber #VRQuestVSPC #BeatSaberGraphics
DIFFERENCES:
QUEST 2 WALLS: basic, just a box with some color in the middle, relatively easy to see through
PC WALLS: same as quest 2 walls, but is very distorted with a lot of color and is hard to see through
QUEST 2 SABER TRAILS: the right saber's trail always overlaps the left sabers trail
PC SABER TRAILS: the saber trails mix.
(pause around 0:10 to see the difference)
QUEST 2 FOG: simple, but can be a little thicker
PC FOG: noisier, and a bit easier to see through
(can vary through levels, in the kaleidoscope map, there is barely any fog on QUEST 2, but on PC, there is a lot)
lemme know if there is anything I missed
You have earned yourself a pin!
Also the reflections are better in VR that's what I've notice is harder to see in video.
-The debris glows way more and has a distortion effect
-The platform you stand on has reflections and burn marks
Damn I got pinned
Also the frames per second is so much higher on the pc than the quest
man the oculus is trying it's hardest we shouldn't be that rough about it, it's only missing minor things that won't ruin the game at 90hz after all
Really the only differences is mod compatibility. Pc is no doubt going to handle mods so much better than quest, along with other particles (fog) and distortion effects.
and on pc the recording isn't shaky as shit
also the fps because the pc version isnt running on a smart phone processor
@@jablegh still runs 90
@@rockfallingggg kinda.....
No, in my experience Quest 2 note detection is noticeably more buggy, I much prefer PC. If I'm going on a trip the Quest 2 is perfectly serviceable.
The only difference is walls and recording, but for being transferred through the air and recorded real time, thats some darn good video
Damn, I didn’t notice that Quest 2 version looks like PC version even if i’m on Quest 2.
The difference I see:
• Fog (Not on Q2)
• Walls (Less details on Q2)
• Bloom (It’s sad because it’s cool)
Edit: Stop saying that we can use mods to have better graphics, I know it. I talk about the vanilla (base) version.
Yeah it’s getting pretty close
you got to optimize it a little bit :/
@@imshrpysart3672 1.16.2 is optimized :D
Yup. It sucks but unfortunately that’s the price you pay to port a game to the quest
Reflections on Q2
Just so you know, there is a mod called GraphicsTweaks for Beat Saber that allows you to modify graphics on Quest 2. I use it a lot.
I have both versions and the diffetence is pretty huge. My rtx 3080 is running the graphics maxed out so switching to quest 2 is really blurry, everything looks so unsharp in comparison to pc. Also the smoothness on pc is much better
I would really like to have a very good PC, I would be served in terms of quality, but I do not have much money, but it remains an interesting project
The only thing I wish the quest 2 had is the wall effect
Yeah that would make it almost impossible to tell which is which.
There is a mod that allows you to do it, that's what I use
@@epiccreeper102 Really? What is it called?
@@TWatcher_ the qosmetics mod
It’s not perfect tho
Not bad for the quest 2 considering the hardware differences
pretty much the same except for the walls and the fog
THIS IS UNDERRATED
Everyone the left is Quest 2. and the right is the PC
PC just feels kind of.. "fuller" and more alive than the Quest version in my opinion. Maybe the direct support for bloom makes a bigger difference than most think.
Yea. It also looks A bit More clear. Something how the blocks and background look better on pc.
So what I notice. Fog is hardly there, reflections on the stage are less detailed and the walls look are as flat as possible with no effects. I'll stick with using VirtualDesktop to play beat saber on the quest 2 but honestly I still just use my Rift CV1 for beat saber and the quest 2 for Pavlov and other games that don't have quick motion
differnce i see:
Fog (Not on Q2)
Walls (Better on pc)
The scroll speed (slower on pc (in my opinion) )
And the head isnt shaking to much on pc
Yeah, the smooth camera is very nice on pc, maybe its just me, but the quest has a very dull "bloom" effect, or maybe no bloom at all, every time i play on quest the bloom is the first thing i notice.
OH and shockwave! Thats a very cool effect that i dearly miss
AAAND the way the blocks react to the lighting when flying at you
On quest you can download a mod to get bloom and fog also if you use a new mod called mrc plus which is a quest version of camera 2 you can get pc walls
Pc walls in gameplay or in a recording?
@@HitBloq well i sent a media link idk if u got it of the walls running on standalone
you can turn up the recording quality using side quest, which will make it look more like pc
No you can't. Or at least when playing Beat Saber. If you try to turn it on, Beat Saber runs at like 15fps and that is impossible to play at.
@@TWatcher_ I can get it to work, just too lazy to use it so odd
@Kaylerr niceee!
for some reason it look like the wuest is missing some frames and the pc one just feels more smoother
It would be interesting to see the difference between PC and the quest 3 as the quest 3 has a better chip.
Main difference is the wall? btw, when does Quest 2 version added reflections?
The Quest 2 added reflections just a few days ago.
@@TWatcher_ im guessing its only with the update? I have modded beatsaber which requires a downgrade.
@@myguitartwerks7825 Yes. You have to update it.
@@TWatcher_ Do you know if anyone made a mod for reflections yet?
@@myguitartwerks7825 No one has made a mod for reflections.
Maybe the Quest3 brings the PC versions and the Quest versions together. I have at this moment the Steam version, the Rift and Quest version. The Rift version is the best, because in this one you can also play the songs purchased with your Quest. The last two months however there was a huge problem with the Rift and the Steam version. But since a few day they are working great again.
I'll go buy the Quest 3 today since it just came out today. Stay tuned for a Quest 3 VS PC video!
I've played both versions and all though the quest version is good especially for standalone pcvr just looks and feels soooo much better. the main thing is just that quest is so much more blurry than pcvr
The PC is definitely better for Beat Saber, but in the case of the Rift S, the wire constantly will pull you out of the experience. It’s basically the same though
I think the wire has more impact for some than others. I have a Q1 and play with it plugged in a lot (for charging, not link I dont have a pc that can handle that lol), after a while using the cable and with heavy past PCVR usage I dont notice it in any game, but maybe thats just me. I personally dont mind the wires and while it nice that I dont have to play with them, I don't think it really pulls you out of the experience. (again, maybe just me but this is my opinion.)
I don't understand why Quest 2 doesn't have Identical graphics. Quest 2 has enough power to run this game with all details turned on. The device runs games far more powerful than these simple graphics. A team that knows how to optimize the game makes a difference. Just look at games like Red Matter, Resident Evil 4 and others to see how powerful the device is.
First of all you are wrong like really wrong resident evil 4 had to loose a lot of graphics and resolution like look at blade and sorcery it looks like a 2014 game imo (in quest ) then looks at the pcvr blade and sorcery
PC? I matters a lot which Headset you used still.
im assuming the pc side is recorded through the actual game window and not the headset
The quest 2 can also be used as a PC headset. Dont forget that.
One question, is hitting the blocks on pcvr easier than standalone
Its the same.
haha yes i definitely have pc beat saber because my walls have squiggly lines (definitely not a custom texture)
for the PC version are you using the quest 2 with link or a PC vr headset like the rift , vive or index?
I'm using Oculus Link
Bruh I don’t even play on quest anymore but it still annoys me so much how the trails overlap for no reason just ruins it a bit and just why is it even a thing
how come you made the floor not visible? Some of the reflections come from the floor, also the floor get's burn marks on PC. Also with disabled HUD it makes the wall wavery effect on PC way harder to see.
Still looks better than the Quest 2 version. If I’m using Virtual Desktop to play the PC version of this game, is the game better on the Oculus Store, or Steam? Or is there even a difference other than the Steam version allows access to multiple headsets?
There is no difference except you being able to use multiple headsets. If you're rich enough to buy many of them of course...
Pc looks so much better!
I only want the cuts that you can make on the ground, quest looks not that great as pc version but for that it is waaay better to play, performance is perfect
you can just have a modded quest beat saber and the cuts on the platform are preinstalled
Literally all that changes is the walls and background😭😭and it’s easy asl to get beat saber to look like that on the quest 2 without a wire using air link
hmm, tried playing beatsaber with both air link and virtual desktop but there's quite a bit of controller lag - its not to bad on easy/normal/hard, but expert is pretty annoying and expert+ is pretty much unplayable. For how little of a difference there is in the graphics vs the difference in lag, its just not worth it
Airlink for me is amazing. I have 0 lag and I can play some pretty fast custom songs without any problems.
the walls, the background and burn marks which is available on the quest with mods anyway
It's not on quest or quest 2 for a reason the hardware just is not strong enough to handle screen displacements and proper mirrors. Even if it could it probably wouldn't look the same because the devs will have to remake the shader to be compatible for the quest.
Where did you get those swinging/curved sabers from? I really want them on my quest 2
They are the stock sabers.
the only real differences on quest:
distortion is completely gone.
bloom is replaced with, Fake Glow
mirrors are the lowest quality/fake
no smoke
no burnmarks
@@obelous mhm, but didn't bring it up for default comparisons
I own both the index and the quest 2, this video and youtube compression don't do it justice, the difference is absolutely HUGE. Quest looks significantly worse than the PC, it's not even close.
...isn't this just because the Quest can't do recording to video as well?
Also, if you buy the game on the Quest store, do you have to then buy it again to play on PC? I don't have a powerful enough computer to run BS at a clean framerate, but if I buy a Quest, I'd like to have it on there until later down the line when I've got a better PC and can do the Virtual Desktop method.
When you record on the Quest 2 The Graphics does not change at all. And if you buy Beat Saber on the Quest you will have to buy it again on PC.
Just to add to what T.Watcher said, the DLC you buy is cross buy between the Quest and Rift (pc). Only the base game requires a separate purchase. Rather silly, but it is what it is.
So I read somewhere that if I buy beatsaber with the airlink/pc version that I dont get the quest 2 beatsaber standalone. Can someone confirm this or clear it up?
Yeah it's true.
Wait there are reflections on quest now? Pog. Is that only Q2 or also Quest?
Just Quest 2 I think
which one is which
The most important thing for me is the frame rate the fps in pc looks more than 60
120fs is on both Quest 2 and PC
@@TWatcher_ well, my eyes see that the one on the right has way better fps
@@user-rb9oj3zq8c yes because there quest 2 recording frame rate is only 24fps. But on my PC I can do 60fps. That's why it looks so bad compared to the PC.
Right looks slightly better
If u buy it on Quest...do u get the PC version to for "Link" play? Or is it a separate purchase on PC?
It's unfortunately separate.
What environment are you playing on? The inner ring looks like panic but it isn't
It's the Fit Beat one
That’s why my obstacle walls doesn’t have those lines
and the floor doesn't have burn marks.
so which side PC and Which side quest only?
The one that looks better is the PC ;) I'm just kidding the left is Quest 2 the right is the PC.
on pc the video quality is better too
Yeah it is
That’s only because the quest 2 caps the resolution and frame rate you can record at. You can change it in sidequest, but it impacts performance in some games noticeably.
@@tacticalluke8782 yea it means that pc video quality is better cause you wont be able to play it with the framerate and the resolution so high it would lag too much
i can really tell the difference in reffresh rate in this video
That's just the recording fps. It's still 120hz in the VR headset on the Quest 2.
@@TWatcher_ Oh i see
This is why I can’t wait to build my new pc
Haven't played it yet, but to me it seems like the pc makes you feel like you're actually inside. Instead of the simulation that the headset makes around you, it's like the pc builds the game first and puts you inside of it, a lot more stable but correct me if I'm wrong
Looks a lot like the Quest can't hit 90' 120' or even 60FPS... PLEASE tell me this is just a recording limit and not actually how the game runs...
Yes it's the recording limit.
The Quest 2 has 90FPS in game
@@Splash029 it has 120
@@shalevhaham But its experimental
@@Splash029 it doesn't work for beatsaber anyway you gotta use aikatweaks yo get 120hz
If I use airlink and buy beat saber will there be the options to change the graphics in airlink?
What do you mean?
@@TWatcher_ Like when you go to options and graphics on oculus it's stuck on the lowest setting and I'd assume on pc you can set it to whatever, so if I use oculus airlink would I then be able to change the graphic settings?
@@cheems474 you need the pcvr version for it to work but if you use aikatweaks and connect to a pc you can get pcvr graphics and if you get qosmetics pc walls it can be pcvr beat saber with less mods(I'll still recommend to buy the pcvr version)
@@danielcardenas1699 ah alright I bet I could just use virtual desktop and play it through steamvr then. thanks
what song is this
ludicrous +
Yo what environment is this?!?
maybe i just have a bad graphics card but the frames using quest 2 linked to pc are not that great as in the video. also reflections are different in the video. my pc is decent, its the alienware aurora r10 i think and i know they come with bad graphics cards. but yeah this video is why i bought pc beatsaber. kind of a letdown ngl but its still better
It might be the cord that you are using that is causing the bad frame rate.
@@TWatcher_ hopefully
@@deca396 what gpu you got
Which environment is this ?
Fit Beat I think
To me, the most obvious difference is the framerate, followed by the look of the walls.
The default sabers and trails look disgusting regardless of platform! :')
The frame rate is just the Quest 2 recording in 24fps. It's 120hz in the VR headset still.
@@TWatcher_ Well the recording is what I'm watching! c:
@@Uncouth Yes, they were letting you know that the experience is different in the headset and the frame rate of the video is just what the Quest 2 caps the recording frame rate to as to not cause performance issues.
Is the PCVR at the highest settings possible?
Yes
holy saber trails
Ha
ok
ok
How do u have so good graphics on quest
It's pretty bad if you ask me tbh
The quest is just really powerful
@@TWatcher_ Bruh
@@Splash029 it isn't that powerfull he is using aikatweaks
the Graphics on pc is much better but i think pc is the king bc its not stuck at 60-72fps
Well the Quest 2 runs at 120hz on Beat Saber.
@@TWatcher_ ya I saw that but it's not 100% official yet and only a few games have it. Also I don't think u would stay at 120fps the whole time
@@imzukami4405 Well, right now it's going at 90hz. Not 60-72. And if you want you can make it go to 120hz soooo yeah.
@@imzukami4405 it does work at 120hz the whole time
@@joaquincaceresguibovich3182 In my experience it has kept a steady 120FPS with all the official songs. Modded of course depends on how much a mod hinders the performance
It's pretty obvious pc is way better
Да как вы проходите такие уровни???
практика
PC FOR THE WIIIIN!!!
But not for the price
@@thelegeng1853very true
1k usd pc is unnoticably better than a 300usd vr headset with an integrated graphics card
The quest is really struggling to run beat saber lmfao that fps seems unplayable in vr
That's just the recording fps that the Quest 2 use. It's 120hz in the headset though.
Yea because it's wireless it's not going to have a rtx 3080 in it
I'm mean... Technically it's not wireless. Because it doesn't need to connect to a PC. It's a stand alone VR... I hope I don't sound stupid.
??? The Quest 2 is not wireless VR unless you are using Air Link. The Quest 2 is a fully standalone headset with support for oculus link which lets you play PCVR games on SteamVR and Oculus.
