That was a good goal. Out of all the times someone tips it from that angle from the net, it has to go through 2 flyers players in Game 6 of the Stanley cup finals in OT. Wow.
Ha, when my dad and I were watching this game, I saw Kane shoot then lost sight of the puck. For a few seconds we were both like "Where'd it go? Did he score?" Then my dad randomly said "They won it!" and I was like "No way!" That angle that he shot it from was nearly impossible. Too bad they won it on the road though, kinda sucks getting booed when you finally get to lift the cup.
When I was watching this with my friends we saw pat kane and patrick sharp raise their hands in excitement; so we went crazy for like a millisecond, but then it looked like play just went on or something...and then after we saw them celebrating we just went brain dead; we were literally saying "what the fuck" for like a minute...and then we went back to going crazy and jumping around like school girls...lool this is history, I'm showing this to my kids in the future.
its funny the people who say "anti-climactic" to describe the goal are obviously heartbroken! being a fan of neither team, that ending was sooooo sweet the philly fans were quiet as hell! their team just lost they aren't going to cheer and the announcers are always shitty anyway. wish there was a track to just listen to the crowd/staidum minus announcers!
Interesting bit of trivia: The flyers are cursed and will never win a chamionship; it isn't really even a matter of skill at this point. William Penn simply won't let it happen.
Not looking forward going into the season with Leighton as the starting goalie. Our defense made him look good against the Bruins and Habs (30th and 26th ranked offensive teams) but then when we ran into a good offensive (Hawks were 3rd ranked) team, he sucked. .858 save percentage in the Cup finals says it all. What pisses me off more is Niemi's save percentage was .880, and Leighton still managed to do worse somehow.
@DemolitionLovers905 no shit scherlock, all im saying is that the he said the dirt bags are in philly, and i corrected him and said they actually live in pittsburgh, actualy they don't have to live in pittsburgh, they just have to like the pittsburgh pens
I am a flyers fan but im still proud. We made history. First team is like 40 years to win a series after losing 3three straight making the series 3-0. We saw how strong leighton truly was and how anything is possible. We were the underdogs in every series but be still got to the finals!
They didn't trade most of their players, they just traded some fan-favorites that were mainly useful in the playoffs/finals. Niemi and Byfuglien left, and all the bandwagon fans freak out and make it seem like the Hawks have no chance. But they do. They might not win the Cup this year, but they'll still do good this season.
I was watching this with a bunch of people, and NOBODY knew he scored at first. Then we saw Kane start celebrating, followed by all the other Hawks, and my friend's dad yelled "Did we just win the Stanley Cup?!" Then the replay came on and we knew that the Hawks had won. Amazing game, what a memory!
@ArneZiffel Both goals were pretty ugly to be honest. The major difference is that Miller had absolutely no chance of preparing himself for the shot (unless he was Dominik Hasek perhaps), thanks to a miraculous pass from Iginla while he was getting knocked down to the ice from behind. As soon as Crosby got the puck, he fired it in immediately. Kane on the other hand, just skated in for a few seconds and shot, giving Leighton plenty of time to see the puck.
If you look at some of the replays that NBC had it was clear Powe knew that was a goal, he was right there with it and stopped skating. As anti-climactic as this call is NBC was even worse!! It was a bit bizarre but I think it shows what kind of shot that was for Kane to make that really only he had a good view of it. He juked Timonen out of his skates, took it deep and let it fly before Leighton could get his stick down. Perfect goal just too bad it got stuck in the netting!
@doctorhockey15 It would have been way better if it was at the United Center! That goal he scored was BEAST! Imagine if that happened in United Center! The Madhouse would be roaring so loud, confetti and hats falling. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE BEST...
Not really. It was the around april of 2008 I saw this movement of new fans. Even though they missed the playoffs. Next year 1st in attendance. Following year the 'hawks win the cup. Maybe the owner had something to do with it? People don't bandwagon 500 teams. Retards and other mentally challenged people cry bandwagon and Blackhawks. even though their popularity sky rocketed in the final of months of 08 the year they missed the playoffs.
@kzofkie What exactly did the Philly fans do, in this instance, that was so classless? I mean, you are talking shit on a fan who lives in Philadelphia, but has so much class compared to the few that give us a bad name....I understand that there have been many instances where some Philly fans have done rediculous things, but they didn't do anything wrong here.....they were quiet, as most home crowds would be had they just watched their team lose the Stanley Cup in 2OT.
LOL, first off, yes because Canada's Obesity rate is so much lower than the United States 2nd off the majority of the Obesity in this country come from Minorities, so they are enjoying themselves, its not our job to correct them. 3rd You realize playing the same teams, US finished the Tornament with not only all their wins in regulation, but never once lost in regulation and had only one loss total. Also they beat Canada in regulation. So how does that make canada so much better.
@Deadfox7777 The Hawks defeated the number one seated team in the Western Conference, a team that was looking for revenge from the year before, and probably had their toughest round against the nashville predators. The Western Conference makes the Eastern Conference look like a joke. West is definitely a tougher conference than the East. Detroit is probably the toughest team to beat in the NHL. The Caps and the Penguins do good because the teams in the East are jokes.. Leafs for example..
@baddass4ever Notice how I said ALMOST ever year. You're right though I wouldn't pick the Flyers as my favorite to win it all though. I just simply am saying that they aren't a bad team. And the fact that they got knocked out in the first round by the penguins.....Well the penguins won the cup that year. So that's not really much of a knock on the flyers that they got knocked out by such a good team.
@Deadfox7777 I never once said the blackhawks had a chance on winning the cup again. But don't say the blackhawks have no chance because they have been battling injuries all year and once they get all their players back they will be a good team. I can admit that the flyers looks pretty good right now but to say the Hawks don't have a chance is idiotic. I'll put my money on the capitals before i put it on the flyers.
@razorslice17 From making the playoffs by winning a shootout and going all the way to game six of the stanley cup championships isn't really choking lol... How the Sharks kept getting knocked out of the first round of the playoffs for the last couple years (besides last year) while having the most points in regular season is choking. What are you a blackhawks fan? Either that or some other band wagon team.
The Conn Smythe is awarded to the MVP of the entire playoffs, not just a series. Toews led in points for almost the entire playoff, Briere only got on top after his 3 point night in game six, A GAME IN WHICH THEY LOST, and the Hawks went home with the cup. Toews might have been kind of quiet point wise in the finales, but he was a huge reason they got their. And lest not forget how he embarrassed guys like Richards in the face-off circle.
@InexplicableBehavior will they perform the same? maybe, maybe not, wat u have to understand is there wasnt really much talent lost, aside from versteeg and neimi, everybody else is exxpendable...byfuglien only had a good playoff run. the only current issue is chemistry, how the guys communicate on and off the ice, and getting use to their habits...look at it from a perspective of statistics and ull understand....
@Chitown2701 True but it's actually not a big deal to me. I love my WILD but I don't expect them to make the playoffs anytime soon. We're in a rebuilding stage right now and there's still quite a few things to be sorted out such as certain players taking up too much salary space and our need to find more offensive talent. Of course the Blackhawks are still better than my WILD but I never said they weren't. I simply stated that the Blackhawks made some off-season mistakes that's all.
@PhillyBoy264 ok lets get this straight first of all you are just jealous because Chicago Won. look at it this way there are 8 olympic players patrick kane was in the olympics and he got silver and he just scored the stanley cup winning goal and patrick kane got an assist to zach praise to tie it up so patrick kane is actually good you may not see him in the paper but he's in there sometimes. Oh and Philadelphia only has 1 olympic player and that is chris pronger.
I remember when Byfuglien hoisted the cup everyone started booing; and right after that he gave the cup to Patrick Kane, and I thought the booing was going to escalate but it just stopped, and I could even hear some cheers (his family, friends and fans) nice to know that the Flyer fans weren't angry and bitter to a guy that just won the series for the Blackhawks (he was only doing his job as a forward) I guess that gave me some hope for the Flyer fans who, I thought, had no class. GO HAWKS!!!!
@MikeTar45 Yea it was pretty much leightons fault because he should have blocked his five hole with the stick, but he didn't so you can't do anything about that. Also it was timonens fault because he let patrick kane go towards the net. Now he may not have expected it to go in, but he should have thought about Kane trying to rebound off the goaltender or trying to cut in front of the net instead of standing his ground. timonen should have stopped kane from even going towards the net.
its funny all the flyers fans are coming on this video and making comments about how this is a terrible ending. How?!?!?! series 3-2, in an away game in overtime and a gamewinning goal (an impressive one as well), how is that a terrible ending? the only bad part of the ending was when he scored since it was in philadelphia, nobody was cheering, but it was definately a dramatic and amazing ending!!!
any of you fools call that a garbage goal DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT TERM MEANS !!! that was skill !! did you see the area the puck went through to ACHEIVE the GOAL !!!??? I've been a HOCKEY / Hawks fan since '66 you want to see a garbage goal look up Phil Esposito archives from when he was on the Bruins THAT is a garbage Goal. sorry I had to take you to school sorry you re eating sour grapes the Hawks ROCKED everybody !!!
If you've seen all their other OT goal wins in this season, everyone goes to the person who scored it, except Kane and sometimes Bolland (if he's not on the ice) Kane almost always go to Neimi to celebrate with him...so it was only fitting that when kane scored it he made sure to celebrate it with Neimi so that he wasn't left out. And despite everything I like this win, it's different, funny and new and will be remembered for decades to come "the game winning gaol that no one saw" :D
@Midwaybros312 I'm not being pessimistic, it's just that for such a big goal, it's a shame the announcers didn't even know it went in, and they had to check it on replay, etc., big goals are supposed to be "sudden shock," not video-replay and confusion. Not to be biased, but Nystrom's classic overtime goal comes to mind. Congrats to Chicago though, I'm glad they won, great team, great tradition, and original 6, that's awesome.
fuckin flyers should not have been here in the first place, i mean bruins were up 3-0 in the series and let up 4 games and in the 4th game they were up 3-0 and blew that lead to!
I give the flyers credit for making it this far but they shouldn't be too cocky they got in the play offs on a shootout the last game of the year. But they suprised all of hockey
when I play road hockey with my friends, we always sort of do this play. I do a bunch of head-fakes next to the net and then i come up next to it and shoot... the idea is to see if I can score the same way as Kane, even though whoever is in net KNOWS exactly what's coming. fun stuff. oh and go canucks :-)
It's a good Stanley cup because Chicago won it, but in reality it was one of the worst finals I've ever seen. 1. Home team didn't win 2. Wasn't in 7 games 3. Player who scored is an absolute douche bag (beating up the cab driver, snobby comments on t.v etc) 4. Nobody knew the puck was in 5. Barely any excitement after the goal....I could go on all day.
@ckyownz9 the point I was making the first time was not towards your team or city, but the fans. All the hawks fans who were there at this game had objects thrown at them, food knock out of there hand, and had armed escorts. That's just sad. Say what you will about or Chicago fan being uptight, but armed escorts at at a hockey, Philly fans are just not worth anybodys time.
I don't get why some say this is the worst ending Stanley Cup win ever. I think it's the best. The reaction to the win being slow was hilarious, philly fans didn't even know their season was over. Then the shock started to settle into the arena as the 'villain' team on the road comes to take the Cup back to Chicago.
@ericgladu1991 the only real loss i versteeg, byfuglien just had a good playoff run, thts it, and take neimi and put him with on a weaker team, and he wouldnt be nearly as good...other than tht theres not that much lost talent. and a new d man, john scott, has got the size down to replace buff, hes like 6'8
That was a skillful shot Patrick Kane took it had some luck but he meant to shoot it there he kept it low good goal. I am a blues fan and I HATE the blackhawks with a passion but I like them a lot better then Philly. I got the coyotes winning this season or the sharks but they blow it in the playoffs but I have some faith
@spartan9199 lol at it not being a goal... just because the light doesn't go on doesn't mean its not a goal... clearly you have no idea that there are always botched calls in any sport. The different angles shows that it clearly was in, and was a terribly weak goal at that... I was cheering for Philly, but shit happens, Kane did score, game over. Better luck next time.
@PeeEssThree look at the angle he had, i dont care how the goalie messed up (usually goals happen when the goalie messed up, so thats a lame excuse), but the angle had was hard to make a shot and he shot it perfectly and nailed it right through the goalie, it was an impressive goal, not a super highlight, but impressive!!!
Season goes full circle: Kane scores first goal in Finland on a fastbreak and now he ends it by scoring the Cup winning goal! What an amazing season... Awkward ending, but that's only because some douche in philly couldn't perform his job duties correctly and turn the light on... Proud to be a Hawks fan.
@MrDrProfGill Sorry Bro! I believe they will have to dump a lot of their roster next year due to salary cap issues and that's even with the cap going up. Not that they can't make it with other guys, but you definitely wont see the same line up. I am just glad the Flyers didn't win! And I am glad for Hossa. Its always good to see someone who put the effort it finally win.
This wasn't a garbage goal. I'm not a fan of the Flyers or Blackhawks, Kane did a nice deke to get to the angle to make tha fast wrist shot. Phillie's goalie probably should have had it, and it looked like he did, at first, to everyone, except Kane. Worst goal in NHL finals history? Not even close, Brett Hull still has that one.
@NOOK17 "Chrissy" Pronger? Please. Its not as if he hasnt won a cup and not been to the finals 3 times. And you know damn well you would love it if he was on your team.
Seriously...you are taking shots at Philly fans and they are not doing anything wrong after the goal. Then all these people are giving you the thumbs up...just stupid! Didn't Chicago sports fans jump out the stands at a baseball game and start beating up the Royals 1st base coach?!
@Shanor909 and yet you are arguing with a top comment? on your statement, sir, who won the stanley cup? the blackhawks. and who lost? the packers. the argument in which you speak is wrong, sir, and by the needs of you wanting them not to win, they had won, and possibly you cannot even beat them.
Philly fans get a bad rap for their past. While they're still loud and opinionated (especially Eagles and Flyers fans) you can't doubt their loyalty. And, honestly what did you expect the reaction to be right there? For them to cheer the final announcement of the game winning goal?
im gunna be pissed if another stanley cup game ends like this...you want a celebration without second guessing if it was a goal or not because its gunna be a moment that they will never forget...its not like its kanes fault that he snipped 5 hole tho but...you know what i mean
Blackhawks baby!!! I like how flyers fans say Patrick Kanes OT goal was lucky and a fluke when the goal they scored to send it to OT bounced around and went off Hossa's skate and in the net...the flyers had 4 or 5 goals go off a hawks player abd in the net the entire series...talk about lucky flukes...
@xRipzo He's a rookie how good can he be with his first year against professionals and atleast were in the playoffs unlike your team they didnt make it lol they got rid of half there players a week after the cup because the organization was greedy and didnt take the money out
@madcaplaughs30 Boynton defiantly saw it, as did Sharp as you pointed out. I watched this game and cheered at the same time Kane did. I knew that puck was in as I didn't see it go around the boards and I knew the puck didn't get caught up in Leighton's padding. Weird way to end it though.
@101NYMetsFan Yeah, I was cheering for them too. But the Flyers beat the Habs and the Hawks beat the Flyers, so I think we can assume that chicago would have won it anyway. I don't really like them, but they deserved to win. And I'm glad they beat the flyers.
One of the stranger Stanley Cup-winning goals ever scored, but whatever way you look at it, the 'Hawks earned every bit of their 2010 Stanley Cup:-) Hats off to the Flyers though, they went a LOT further then anyone could've predicted, well done Flyers & their fans:-)
Oh and i forgot to add that i think chicago was flat out just too much of a force for philly. Philly surprised everyone thats for sure. however we see time and time again....6,7,8 seeds making remarkable runs and not be able to close the deal. I had chicago in 5 in this one.
umm...i disagree,,,,timo did what any good d-man would do, he kept the puck carrier to the outside. Bottom line is that philly did not have clutch goaltending. No shot from that angle should go in. Having said that, great run by philly and congratz to chicago on a well deserved win.
@bestever55 Well in all fairness, the ending was a bit anti-climatic. As a fan who loves to see big emotions etc. this ending kinda disappointed me and I wasn't the only one. Note that I wasn't really rooting for anyone, besides wanting to see a game 7 happen.
@zelenious garbage goal was the flyer game tying goal at 3-3 bouncing off people. this was a smart shot knowing leighton was cheating. even leighton said he was cheating watching the guy in the slot. but some lady on NBC said it was a fluke goal... poor flyer fans... nothing but tears and whines.
Awesome, but Philly needs to fire their goal judge. He totally screwed up game 3 or 4 with a couple horns for no goals. He probably saw this go in and didn't want to turn on the red light in fear and to ruin the excitement. However, didn't work, Chicago knew they won lol
sounds to me like robtrostle is having a hard time believing his Flyers lost. Regardless of what you say robtrostle, it was an AWESOME series and if you disagree you probably aren't a true hockey fan anyway - and you can be one of those fans that the sport will lose.
What an anticlimactic way of winning the Cup. The announcers were clueless, and nobody knew what was going on. A horrible goal, and a sad way of ending the season. I'm an Islander fan, so I don't really care either way, but it's just a brutal way of ending the game.
Hey, I'm a Canadiens fan. I still love watching a game winning goal scored in OT. I just always wish it was the home team. The celebration is sooo much more enjoyable. Hope for a Pittsburgh/Chicago final with Pittsburgh winning in 6 or Chicago winning in 7.
@Jefflered have you ordered any sweaters from that website you listed in your vid description? I am interested to know how secure the website actually is, and just how reliable the delivery and product is...how many times have you done it? You like it?
1 year ago today, BlackHawks made history. I can remember like it was yesterday. I'll never forget that moment when Patrick Kane scored the winning goal. I am proud to be a Chicago BlackHawks Fan. This will always go down in BlackHawks history.
@Deadfox7777 im not trying to change your mind or nything. and your kinda of right i dont know to much about hockey. I only know things that have happened recently and i am not trying to start anything. so sorry if you took my comment the wrong way
@Rehtomflow if you're not rooting for anyone, then its kind of natural to not have any emotions i am a thrashers fan but my next favorite is the blackhawks, and even though the crowd wasn't cheering it was definately an amazing ending!!!
What an ANTICLIMACTIC way to wind Lord Stanley's Cup. Pitiful. That type of stuff just makes hockey look terrible as a spectator sport and if anything will lose fans. What a shitty series. Looking forward to getting back to some real hockey next year.
It was a weird moment, I watched it and was like "what the fuck is Kane doing?". Hard to get super excited and celebrate when theres dead silence too lol.
@PookeoResurrected And Habs beat the Stanley Cup champs and the President's Cup winners. I give credit to the Flyers, but I hate them and Leighton sucks
That was the best thing that had ever happened to me on sports history, but if the Blackhawks went back into overtime again and they still won, it would be very awkward, more than it was with all that confusion.
2010 was a year of a million awesome memories.. this was one of those moments
Never gets old
The silence in the stands is music to my ears.
That was a good goal. Out of all the times someone tips it from that angle from the net, it has to go through 2 flyers players in Game 6 of the Stanley cup finals in OT. Wow.
@JiflixIsGay I beg to differ, awesome way to end a Stanley Cup, with your team winning! So glad my team didn't come up short!
Patrick kane is amazing!
best chicago moment ever! and im glad to say my fawvourite blackhawk did it!
Ha, when my dad and I were watching this game, I saw Kane shoot then lost sight of the puck. For a few seconds we were both like "Where'd it go? Did he score?" Out of all the things we've done and that's the best you can come up with, pitiful.
OUCH. That still hurts.
Awesome!
its funny the people who say "anti-climactic" to describe the goal are obviously heartbroken! being a fan of neither team, that ending was sooooo sweet the philly fans were quiet as hell! their team just lost they aren't going to cheer and the announcers are always shitty anyway. wish there was a track to just listen to the crowd/staidum minus announcers!
We came back from 3-0!
Interesting bit of trivia:
The flyers are cursed and will never win a chamionship; it isn't really even a matter of skill at this point. William Penn simply won't let it happen.
Kaner's shouting at :38 is so funny.
I love the fact that the ending was horrible for the Blackhawks, they didnt deserve it.
@opticmokey You spelt "wrong" wrong and "Detroit" has no "e"
Too bad they couldnt have done this against the Canucks this season...but theres always next season...good job guys!!
Not looking forward going into the season with Leighton as the starting goalie. this is the most awkward championship celebration of all time
Patrick Kane should be a Flyer.
God it must suck winning a championship in another city
@timmg3 judging by sharpies reaction he did too
worst ending to a Stanley Cup final game...ever
@DemolitionLovers905 no shit scherlock, all im saying is that the he said the dirt bags are in philly, and i corrected him and said they actually live in pittsburgh, actualy they don't have to live in pittsburgh, they just have to like the pittsburgh pens
@ifourwon yeah thts why he shot the winning goal..
that awkward moment if the puck didn't go in and p. kane did that big celly for nothing.. but great goal
@Deadfox7777 haha its aight im a die hard leafs fan =P
What was I doing in 2010 that I have absolutely no memory of the Flyers being in the final?
+Ian Alex Lambert No one remembers the losers.
1:31 "Oh. It's a goal."
Too bad the parody call of this goal was taken down from RUclips. I thought it was funny.
Poor Kimmo getting scored on to lose the cup....but glad he won It this year with the Blackhawks!
Whatever happened to that puck? Did they ever find it?
I am a flyers fan but im still proud. We made history. First team is like 40 years to win a series after losing 3three straight making the series 3-0. We saw how strong leighton truly was and how anything is possible. We were the underdogs in every series but be still got to the finals!
Love the Philly shirts: “Unfinished Business” 😂 vintage 74
who was the goalie for the blackhawks then?
Anti Niemi
@Deadfox7777
They didn't trade most of their players, they just traded some fan-favorites that were mainly useful in the playoffs/finals. Niemi and Byfuglien left, and all the bandwagon fans freak out and make it seem like the Hawks have no chance. But they do.
One of the stranger Stanley Cup-winning goals ever scored, but whatever way you look at it, the 'Hawks earned every bit of their 2010 Stanley Cup:-)
Hats off to the Flyers though, they went a LOT further then anyone could've predicted, well done Flyers & their fans:-)
I'm an Islander fan, so I don't really care either way, but it's just a brutal way of ending the game.
i watched this video 10 times and it still gives me chills. Love the hawks...
@MrHockeyrulez Yeah I'm really jaleous of Mike Leighton, Brian Boucher and Sergei Bobrovsky... But I admit that the Flyers' skaters are pretty good
@PookeoResurrected And Habs beat the Stanley Cup champs and the President's Cup winners. I give credit to the Flyers, but I hate them and Leighton sucks
That was the best thing that had ever happened to me on sports history, but if the Blackhawks went back into overtime again and they still won, it would be very awkward, more than it was with all that confusion.
