  • Had a heck of a good run on the dawgs. 8 Coyotes and a beautiful Otter! The Coyotes are looking for love and it's getting them caught.

      Yes, I was very lucky and fortunate to get nice fur. That Weasel had quite a lump on his noggin. Never had that happen before. They have always either been in the trap or gone.

      Definitely a variety of colors on the Coyotes for sure. I was absolutely amazed by the fur on that Otter. Extremely beautiful and luxurious looking fur!

    Cowboy, you got a busy night or two of skinning. Glad your picking up some quality furs. That otter was a beuti!! That light dog was amazing. Cowboy, you should do a segment on your skinning shed and a little skinning demo. Carry On Garry!!!

      My knife was working overtime, lol. Still have some to board. That Otter was one of the nicest I've caught. She had perfect, luxurious looking fur. She measured 39 inches to the base of her tail. Wish all the dawgs would be like that light one.
      We will see. YT doesn't like the skinning vids to much.

      That one was very light colored. We used to call that a money dawg. Not sure how much it will bring now with the prices down.

      I like the reddish looking ones too. I think because they are not as common. They don't sell as well on the fur market either. I guess its because they have trouble matching them in with other furs to make up a Lot.

      She was a beauty! Measured 39 inches to the base of her tail. I have caught a bigger female once. I believe that one was 41.

      It was a good run for me. The Otter is one of the nicest furred ones I've ever caught. That Weasels head looked ridiculous! That 160 Belisle whapped him good.

    Nice dawgs & no shoulder mites. That was a stroke of luck on the otter. She looked to be in prime condition. You will need a few coffee breaks before you get those skinned. Thanks for sharing & be the Good Lord willing, we'll see you next time.

    Great catches! What a day! Thanks for the tip about the beaver house. I didn't know that. Nice otter too. I haven't caught one of them in a long time. Trapping a weasel without having in in a trap, has got to be a rare thing to happen! Never seen that before either!

      We all need some good luck every now and then. Of the 3 Otter I caught, this one has the nicest fur. That Weasel looked pretty funny with that lump on his head, lol. That Belisle gave him a good rap. I've never had that happen before. Either they are in the trap or they are gone.

      It definitely had quite a coat on it. Its hard to get a wolf here with a good thick coat on it too. Every now and then I will get a real fluffy one but they usually don't have the kind of fur that the Coyotes do.

    Great check!!! I ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS have multiple swivels on any trap that may get an otter. Any connection point (chain to cable, cable at anchor point). It has paid of multiple times.

      Hello Brother! Ya, wish they would all be pale ones like that. That Otter had beautiful, luxurious fur. I just boarded her this morning. She was a decent size. Measured 39 inches and change to the base of her tail. I should have had a cable with a swivel and used a quick link. Otters are horrific fighters in a trap.

    awesome run that’s wild about that weasels & about that mid catch on the coyote i had one like that didn’t struggle at all think the kill spring compressed the heart & lungs

      Seems like those canines don't last long when they are caught like that. That's a good thing I guess. After I boarded this one and brushed it, you couldn't even see where the snare cable had been.

    Beautiful dogs!!! You might want to hold onto them till next year to see if the prices go back on on the. Unless you want to sell one to me. I might be able to afford it with the prices this year LOL That second one has the same marking that a timber wolf dog mix I had for years and she was the best dog I've ever owned!! Big congrats on all of your catches!! You're stacking up the coyotes HAHAHAHA

      Thx a lot. I will have the luxury of knowing what the dawgs are selling for before I take these in. Fur Harvesters has their first sale towards the end of March, and I won't have to take these furs in until April 11.

      The Otter I'm catching out of this lake are eating Muskrats as it has no fish. But I know they can be hell on fish. One time a Otter tried to steal my fish that I caught in the river. Had them laying in a little pool close to where I was fishing, lol. The bugger! It didn't get any!

    Minnesota Rancher. I have a couple of those blonde coyotes tanned, in my collection too. We seem to be seeing more of the odd color variation all the time. I'm wondering if they are eastern genetics moving in. Great video. Keep it up.

      They are a little different looking for sure. Things are changing. I remember when I was younger, I had never seen nor heard of these black Coyotes. Now it seems like a few trappers catch some every year. I think the black ones originated from the east?

      Yep, takes a bit of time to get them all boarded but I don't mind doing it. 4 inches on the shoulders. Some of them are pretty fluffy.

      I caught a few with mites earlier on but lately they've been really nice. I'm surprised these rascals are holding onto their fur as good as they are, considering how warm it is and how warm our winter has been.

      Not good from what I hear. The first FHA sale is coming in March. Then I will know more. Sure not expecting to get rich though. Lots of trappers aren't even bothering with them this year. I'm catching them more less to control their population, weed out disease, save some fawns, and because I really enjoy it.
