    I’ve been wanting do this technique of trapping. I hunt on my parents 10acres. Well they’ve got one big coyote around chasing the deer around. Neighbor sees him around but can never get the chance to shoot his ass. I was wondering if this would attract a cat or dog? Other neighbors opposite side have 3-4 cats and sometimes have 1-2 dogs out. Didn’t wanna set it up if I’m just gonna catch the neighbors pets. TIA

    Good job and nice catches. Your methods are clearly working, but I do wonder why you handicap yourself with the 450s? If I’m killing coyotes for money I want the largest legal trap and get every advantage possible. Thanks for the video, keep up the good work

    • @CoastalLandWildlifeServices
      @CoastalLandWildlifeServices 9 месяцев назад +2

      I don’t necessarily see it as a handicap. I may have upwards of 150-200 active traps at a time. For the blend of quality and price the 450 is my best choice. Also, I can pack a lot more 450’s than 550’s into my enclosed boxes in the back of my truck. I do have some 550’s, Bridger 1.75 & 2…I’ve just found that I get the same results from a 450 as a 550. And during live market season, the 550 is too hard on fox.

    THANKS Bill, new trapper here your videos are great and informative. Question, how many traps would you want to use on a property of 250 acres, that's what I'll be trapping this fall. Just looking for kind of an estimate, Thanks and keep up the videos they are great!

    • @CoastalLandWildlifeServices
      @CoastalLandWildlifeServices 9 месяцев назад +2

      I’d say maybe 10-12. It just really depends on the layout of the place. Roads, ditches, fields, etc… if there’s good sign there I’d double a lot of sets, say for instance a big intersection. Fields, I’d set at least two or three of the corners. Dog proofs are always good too at ditch crossings and feeders if you’re trying to lower the coon and possum numbers.

    GREAT VIDEO! I have a MB 450 that a had to put a new dog on. Now I can’t get it set…..when I try to set it, it’s as if the jaw isn’t low enough for the dog to get over the jaw and keeps it from getting under the pan edge. What am I doing wrong? Please help. Thank you!

      Try bending the piece that the dog attaches to towards the jaw (center of the trap)

    • @justme4172
      @justme4172 9 месяцев назад

      @@CoastalLandWildlifeServices I just tried that. Didn’t work. When I put the dog over top the jaw….the end of the dog meets at about level with the pan and I can’t get the pan to go over it. The best I’ve done so far is it sets right in the night latch slot without even doing anything like pushing the pan down to the click. It’s already set in the notch. I just can’t get the end of the dog far enough under the pan. I’m totally confused.
