Still one of my favorite songs. Im not country whatsoever but this is how music should feel
I am so damned happy someone is doing country right these days. I hate everything on the radio.
It's worse now in 2021
No better person to carry on the outlaw legacy... waylon would be proud..
Hallelujah......a REAL Country singer......great voice.
I don't believe there's any work needed here on the sound! Best musical talent since Keith Whitley in my opinion. Nobody out there is like him thank God. But many wish they could be!
I found this video a few months after it posted, and still listen to it regularly. In my opinion, this is the best video to introduce someone to Sturgill. You'd have to be without a pulse to not get excited when listening to this song. Thank you for posting it.
I heard this song first on Yellowstone.Love this one reminds me of Waylon Jennings music & voice. Now have to buy me the CD
FINALLY some TRUE COUNTRY SOUNDS!!!!!!! LOVE Sturgill!!!!!! Keep em coming!!!!!!
Thank God! It's Outlaw Country music after decades of "pop music with a fiddle"!
I thought Merle Haggard was playing then I had to look and it was Sturgill Simpson ! I love it !
The song was already amazing, but this slowed down version is really something. Wow.
I love Sturgill Simpson because it's like he took the words right outta my heart
Refreshing to the ears Country is not Dead
Laur does an incredible job with this song everytime. Kevin Black kills on this version and Miles makes it look easy creating the thunder he makes on this song. Of course Mr. Simpson wrote this so...
That is one unbelievable lead guitar player. Sturgill is just awesome. Can't get enough of that new album!
the sound is amazing.. sturgills vocal is just sitting on top of everything.. love it
I think that's a great way to describe his voice. It just powers through and sits on top. All the country greats have that.
Real country has finally come back !!!!!!!! I might have to put my strat up for a while and get myself a fine telecaster.... Well done Sturgill.... keep it up brother....
So glad to see that country music isn't quit over yet!
Sturgill, I love you like I love Keith, Vern, Willie, Waylon, George & Merle.
Masterpiece! 🙏
this is real country music.
Wow! I thank God for this version of his song!
Git you some of that honky tonkin' music!
The Dude is timeless
Luv it.
Thanks Jay, seriously, this guy is the real McCoy!
Wow this version is so goddamn beautiful. Think I like it better...
❤ your sound! Thank you!!
Good version of this song. I hope they take the dog next to the drummer on tour with them. Great Prop
Love, love, LOVE it!
Lately things have been a little complicated
Quality of life has got me down
Sex is cheap and talk is overrated
And the boys and me still working on the sound
A little happiness, a little love was all I wanted
Sure as Hell thought I'd found it but I was wrong
She left my heart feeling taunted and my memories all haunted
But it's her I have to thank for all my songs
So every day I'm smoking my brain hazy
All I can do to keep from going crazy
But the paranoia is slowly creeping in
I keep drinking myself silly
Only way for this hillbilly
And I thank God for this here life of sin
Every morning when I rise I look in the mirror and despise
The sight of everything and all that I've become
The level of my medicating some might find intimidating
But that's alright cause' it don't bother me none
I think I might like this version better than the original recorded one.
Man alive, his voice reminds me of Keith Whitley.......eerie.
A lot like Waylon Jennings
Charles Laughlin If you watch his interview with Joe Rogan Sturgill says he was hanging out at a club with Shooter Jennings and Jamey Johnson. Shooter leans over to Dave Cobb, the producer of this song, and points to Sturgill and says that's the guy that has the best voice in Nashville.
Man he's fukin great
Love this!
I sincerely hope he does an european tour :)
Finally some real music! I love it!
Hello. Loved your Vid! Continue the impressive job
Honest lyrics.Great sound.

Damn. Good. Lifeblood to save the bullshit we have on radio. God bless sturgill
the mix on this is great
This was tracked and mixed by Dave Cobb
Awesome
Drops the mic--the real deal.
Going tonight! Asheville. Hope he plays Ace of Spades!
awesome!!!!
Hahaha I think we all live one of those lives ? Cool song
Killed it
This guy.
Are we sure he's not Waylon's illegitimate child? He sounds AND looks like him.
That's country music
Thank you for this. This got you a sub from me. Keep up the good content your channel will live forever.
Whew!!!
i saw strurgill while tripping on acid in TX and the man was fuckin jesus
2:15 to 2:22
Wish I could sing go sturgill...
what happened to the original version of this song? I can't find it anywhere and it's my favorite version.
Heard him on Yellowstone thought it was Waylon
Any one know what acoustic Sturgil is playing? Nylon string??
Where can you buy this man's albums? Not on iTunes
+Pauli PPariah google music
+Pauli PPariah
Yes Paul it would be on iTunes. That is where I got it. Maybe not 11 months ago when you [psted this. We first heard this on the iTunes radio So good luck to you!
Susie Yager
Got two albums (through Amazon, I think), but thanks.
The real sin here is 17 Luke Bryan fans don't like country music
Sounds like George Strait and Randy Travis with little bits of Waylon and Hank
He's so close
Anyone know what guitar Sturgill is playing here?
+Hunt Hewell Dunno, but it's nylon strung and played with a plectrum. If he's not careful, he'll wear a big hole where the pick hits the top of the guitar.
Strange, theres a country band playing and I can actualy understand what he's saying.
What kind of guitar is Sturgill playing?
Martin of some kind. He talks about it in an interview on here somewhere
Martin N-20 I believe.
Ff they aint run da road they wont get it
Great version - but a shame that the recording didn't pull the drums back slightly - very obtrusive in the first half....
Love Strufill Simpson, but still not a fan of the Lyric
nice to listen to all the time :)
