      I have a feeling most of the new stuff I’ve seen with the k87 style capsule probably sounds the same. Lots of prosumer stuff. This new pro line though, that I want to k is more about, too.

      Nice! Let me know what you think of the V5 when you get it. After this, I have an updated V47 that I'll do and it looks like a rebranded version of their 414 is coming to Amazon, but unless they have some more Professional series mics coming, I'm probably done with the prosumer stuff. BUT, check out today's newly posted Time Preservation Society review of the BFL KK07.

    This mic reminds me of the Blue Blueberry with it's similar sound profile and similar look. Considering that mic's discontinued and I've wanted to try it for a while, this one peaks my curiosity greatly. In theory this could be a great replacement/clone. Even ignoring that though, this seems like a nice mic in a vacuum. Maybe cutting a little too much highs for my taste but those mids and high mids are delicious. 🔥🔥

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  Год назад +3

      I think you could totally high shelf it hard and bring out that air without it falling apart. I like this one dark-ish as contrast to the other mics I have in the booth, but yeah, that MIDRANGE has some nice purr to it and that's tough to pull off with a mic at this price point. We're really only seeing these mics at wholesale prices at this point, so it's a pretty great time to be alive.

  • @Leo_Vulkan

    Great review as always buddy! Would love if you can test the V7, as it remids me a lot to the Elam mics ... well, it is just the same color hahahaha. I have checked the graph in the papers they provida and it seems similar or the same to others in their catalogue.

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  Год назад +1

      It looks interesting but a closer inspection reveals the V7 has a k87 style capsule so it's going to sound a lot like the v10 and V47, except the chiseled headbasket will cut those already compromised mids even more because it, too, sits on a flat circuit without the proper de-emphasis.

    I wasn't impressed with the quality control on these. Inside mine, the capsule was very scuffed and looked several years old with lots of screw driver marks on the screws and scuffs and tarnish on the body and scratches on the inner discs.
    First the mic capsule wasn't picking up my voice unless I screamed into the capsule from 0.25 inches away with the gain maxed out on my interface... until I poked around inside and it randomly started working.
    Mine also has some grounding issue. A constant buzz unless I hold onto the XLR cable. I enclosed the internal circuitboard tray with metal tape and ran the case screws through the metal tape as well. That seems to have solved the buzzing sound, though now all of my components are hidden by shiny tape behind the plastic window.
    I also found the range between the room noise and voice it picks up is only maybe 10-20db depending on the voice volume. It seems quite hard to drive. There could be an issue still with the components inside. But that brings me to my final point.
    Buying this mic is like rolling the dice, playing the lottery, and for over $100, and the hoops they require you to jump through for a refund/return and the time commitment of that, I am not so sure it's worth it given how poor their quality control seems to be. I feel a little burned by Bai Fei Li and I don't think I'll be going back to them for more, even though I was excited to go down the road of trying a lot of their mics.
