Dear EA, we fans need a MUSIC expansion pack - a fully fleshed-out singer career, because we want to create our own music idols! Big stages, musical performances, bands, new instruments like cello, harp, drums! On top of that - Cars! If you also want these things, let's let EA know about it.
In Sims 3 you could have 4 people living in a small apartment and doing gigs as a band. You also had both regular and electric guitars if memory serves me right. It's beyond me why they couldn't have done the same thing in Sims 4.
There's also karaoke nights within the karaoke lots with City Living! They're on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and if you win, you'll get a confident moodlet and a bit of fame! But careful if you got lots of other Sims that leveled singing because the competition will be fierce. Might go to Planet Honey Pop rather than Waterside Warble, to keep the competition down. Also, if you sign up for a recording deal at a label, then if you play rotationally like myself, you'll find that more often than not, the Sims will be unsigned from their deals by the time you get back to that household. Alas!
I think the singing skill coming with city living is often forgotten despite it being a pretty big selling point in my opinion. It adds a lot of reality and is a musical skill / ceative hobby that you can do anywhere with no equipment to build the skill or boost fun.
As a long time player these videos are so great for inspiration for new ways to play, and I even learn some stuff I didn't already know. Super appreciate
I really value your videos. I seems every time I want to try a new way to play, you've been there, done that, and taken notes to share! Thanks for all of your hard work!
it's horrible when you're signed to a label throught the mixing station.... you literally have to release a new track every two days, it's sooooo annoying and frustrating 🥲 you can produce a few tracks at once and then release one every two days, but you definitely have to keep it in mind. you only get one warning before you get dropped
thats why the only normal and ok music career is either from the musician job, or doing the live music career. like in bar, cafe, etc. public spaces. but the money from the live performance not that big. you need to constantly active
There's also the Pipe Organ skill from Vampires which you can license songs for as well. I just did a playthrough with a vampire who used their skill in the pipe organ to bring in folks to see off of. It was kind of fun. And profitable because the royalties from the songs were pretty good.
Early on with my vampire, I went from instrument to instrument, maxing each and writing a song at about the halfway point from 9 to 10... As long as I did this, I only ever needed to record one song/lyrics for each instrument for decent royalties that I could submit all at once
Hi Petey! This is great timing as I have Father Winter in my household and he is a level 10 singer (yeah I was surprised too). I was wondering how to get him and another sim together as a singing duet, and you reminded me about making clubs. Thank you! Now these two can go and become famous and spend lots of time together without their spouses around. No drama of course! 😉
Thank you for the kind comment Tracy and I'm glad your sims can live their best duet life! I think on the large karaoke machine sims can also sing songs together as a pair if that helps 😊
You make it sound so easy 😂Thanks Petey, for an interesting peek into something that I had given up on in my games. Might give it another try 👍Wish me luck! 😂
There are so many weird quirks with the idea of being a musician in the SIms 4: -Why can you write 2-4 books in the time it takes to write a song? -Why can't you release multiple songs/albums and have the royalties come in like books? -Why isn't the music production label way of working available to singing/instruments? -Why are you limited to one song per instrument being licenced at a time? -Can anyone listen to chart music and think that these people are level 8+ of their skill? So why can you write a book and publish it with no ability, but somehow not do the same with music? Have the sims team not heard of sites like Bandcamp?... Overall, it just feels like they went out of their way to make the music stuff different to painting and writing, but never bothered to think about if it made sense or if it made for fun and rewarding gameplay
i was gonna say smt to that effect too! XD i was practicing my guitar while waiting for some flowers i needed to grow and got tips while i practiced XD
Biggest tips about instrument song royalties is that while you can only submit one song a week for royalties per week for guitar, say, you can also licence one song for EACH instrument type. With level 10 in each skill, byiu can release eaxh week for piano, guitar, violin, lyrics, and organ... 5 royalties a day times 7 days generally works out to over 10k per week... And then, just relicence the same songs the next week...
My record label always threatens me so much 🤣 But to be fair, I tend to forget to release songs. We have a break up-to -make up relationship at this point. Maybe I'll join the entertainment career to add to my gameplay. I really love being a musician in the Sims 4 ☺️ Writing jingles sounds like less pressure than working for New Tastemakers. Can I work from home?
Hey Petey, here's a video idea (also, help me) what would be your stradegy to play a Super Sim Challenge? Which jobs/aspirations/skills would be more usefull to tackle first?
I don’t think I’ve ever played through this career. Thanks for sharing all the tips. I’ll have to check it out. Do you have or are you planning to do a guide on the Writer career?
Thank you for the kind comment Roxie :). I've covered writing generally in a few videos and the freelance writing career as part of my freelance career guide. I hope that might be what you're after :). might look at doing writing overall in the future 🙌
"Another day, another house fire" 😄 Sad that you'll have to have a high level in order to profit from these skills... When writing and painting allow you to make profit at level two I wonder why developers made it that way 🤔
You can make money from the Mix Master Music Station right from the get go, easy 15-20k$ a day and takes a fraction of the time as writing and painting.
You can profit off of the music skills at level three. You can't license songs until level 9, but you can busk before that. The licensing is the big money, busking is the small money, sort of like low skill paintings only make a little bit of money and large masterpieces make a lot. There's also the added perk that you don't have to have money in the bank to make money playing an instrument. You have to have at least 50 simoleons to paint something, playing the guitar is free once you buy it.
Oh that's a good shout Jeff! I know you can write and license songs on it, but I'm not sure if it's counted as a piano song or its own thing. I'll have to look into it!
Good vid as always! I’m having a problem with writing songs (maybe a bug?). That when I resume the unfinished songs/lyric, it will start from the beginning. It happened for a while now. Is anyone have this problem? Thank you.
Thank you Saipirun! and I'm sorry, that really does sound like a bit of a bug! if you're resuming from the music in their inventory they should keep creating the track from where they left off.
Ive noticed after playing my legacy... A lot of Nannies have max skill in guitar, violin and piano ! My Legacy was ... Single sim adopts 3 toddlers and you have to get as many Nannies join household as possible so they can help with the garden and wotnot 😂
Charlee! I think I got this aspect wrong as a few people have mentioned they can get tips from practicing, so apologies about that. I will have to try again sometime to see if my sims can get out from practicing 😊.
@@PeteyPlaysIt No need to apologize, we're all human and make mistakes! Thank you for the great videos and being so on top of everything! You're great with feedback and that's a rare gift so keep up the wonderful work! 😄
Not related, but I held a wedding at sixam yesterday and it was one hell of a mess. I had to use cheats to get everyone there, which was very annoying. And I couldnt mark it as a wedding because you can't have events in space :(. One of the brides sons was standing in front of them and argued with someone the whole wedding. Then random aliens walked around that I couldn't even talk to. No one was sitting the correct way and it was really frustrating, but then I decided to just focus on the brides. Then I remembered that I had forgotten the cake so I had to go back home and then back to sixam while hoping that all the sims stay there and don't switch outfits. Thank God that worked. But because the Sims is a buggy mess, one bride randomly flirted with other sims she had never had romantic interest in before just because she was flirty. My brides had a huge fight and all the happy wedding moodlets are gone :(. But they are now two days into their honeymoon and I feel like I fixed everything. I just try to forget the cheating part and only remember the good things.
Do you think it's sort of odd to accuse the game of being a buggy mess when you were playing it in a way that it's not meant to be played? I kind of feel like that's an issue on your end.
@Hailey Balmer The buggy thing is not that something with the wedding didn't work. The wedding worked almost perfectly as soon as I had autonomy off. I just hate it when sims autonomously flirt with random sims just because they are flirty. That is not a wedding on sixam problem. I had this issue multiple times, and it is so annoying. Your sims could be the happiest Sim in the game in their relationship but still flirt with other sims they have never shown interest in before because they are feeling flirty
