You helped me find the one woman in the sodding world who might put up with me, and you helped me get past Branka so I could have someone new. I owe you a lot, Warden. Based on the evidence (the existence of red lyrium in the ancestral thaig, the elvhen conflict against the Forgotten Ones and the dragons, Corypheus saying the Black City wasn't golden when he got there, Solas claiming the Evanuris would have destroyed the world etc...), I'd say that the Blight is likely a biological weapon created by the Evanuris to fight the Titans and/or the Forgotten Ones, and that Solas confined it to the Black City along with the Evanuris that created it. It's also possible that the Forgotten Ones (7 in number) and the Old Gods are one and the same, and that maybe they incited the Magisters to enter the Black City in an effort to claim the Blight for their own, which inevitably backfired.

      Same happens to Leliana if you kill her in the temple of sacred ashes if you corrupt the ashes.

      It's weird who she is supposed to be the sage character of the group, but her life views are all pretty simple, black-and-white leaving no room for ambiguity. Meanwhile, Morrigan is..... well, some age. One of the devs claimed they originally though of her as being about thirty, while I always viewed her as one of the younger members of the ground and most people seem to envision her in her early twenties. Anyways her views are far more in line with the worlds cutthroat nature.

  • @HunterDriguez
    @HunterDriguez 6 лет назад +57

    I love Morrigan's refusal to humor the guardian. This might be a spirit (maybe of faith) that took on the form of one of Andraste's followers. Maybe the spirit is an amalgam of several andrastrian followers, as spirits tend to change depending on what they are exposed to in the "real" world. The presence of large amounts of lyrium in the mountain (as pointed out by Oghren) supports this notion, as lyrium is considered a bridge between the waking world and the fade. The people that appear later to test you (those historically related to Andraste) can also be explained as fade spirits playing the roles they saw in the waking world.
    Morrigan might've at least had an inkling of what was going on and decided not to be toyed with by confused fade spirits.

    • @fawnieee
      @fawnieee 5 лет назад +5

      As do I, I'm quite skeptical there is a "Maker", and I believe the Black City belonged to the ancient Elvhen and now harbours the old gods from Solas' banishment of them.
      It's quite amusing that so much fanatical (faithful) belief is summed up as nothing but spirits in the fade grasping at their spiritual purpose.
      Morrigan and Wynne are polar opposites, I believe Morrigan sees the world for what it truly is whereas Wynne deluded herself in demands of comfort.

    • @ZehnWaters
      @ZehnWaters 3 года назад

      @@Blokewood3 That one is complicated. Bhelen technically framed Reina (Dwarf Noble) and I just had to ADD some things to the story to make it work. Basically Haldis (Casteless Dwarf) finds evidence of Bhelen's blackmail (as well as his forgeries he'd tried to get Haldis to peddle during her quest) and turns it over to the Shaperate. They confirm that the seal used to blackmail the "witnesses" against Reina was Bhelen's and when Haldis returns with the Crown of the Deep she gives it to Reina instead of either Harrowmont or Bhelen. When Bhelen accuses her of being a stupid Duster she has the Shaper confirm his repeated fraud and get's Bhelen removed from the Memories instead. Of course that's when Bhelen rebels.
      Headcanon does require actions outside of the possibilities of the game on occasion.

      but it makes me so MAD. Like, getting this scene requires you to take him places. Which at this point of the game the average player doesn't even consider anymore because he's *the actual worst* the other 98% of the time.

    • @spacejesus6581
      @spacejesus6581 4 года назад

      Salocinist no? I’ve never had a problem leveling him correctly, I go to Orzammar first, pick him up, get him out of my party so he doesn’t glitch out when I leave, and go get Wynne, I get both of them around level 8, Zevran is the worst half the time since you have to have completed a main quest to get him
      By the time anyone completes anything, they are closer to level 11, he is the worst out of all of the companions auto-level wise, I should know, I have done Infinity XP in Ostagar many times, he is always the worst since he doesn’t have Lockpicking, has zero strength and like 50 cunning
      Everyone else levels somewhat OK, not him
      Lots of people go to the Circle to get Wynne first, the reason I get Oghren is (assuming you leave Lothering at level 8) you have to do 2 quests for whoever you are supporting to get him, that alone is quite a bit of XP, add the Circle of Magi to that and you will be level 13 or so, just over half the level cap
      I’m good enough leveling that I can save most people except Loghain
      Ultimately, it’s more of a toss up of getting Shale or Oghren first, not Wynne or Oghren first
      I truly don’t understand why people save Orzammar for Last then complain the companion they got there is auto leveled to shit, do the Brecillan Forest last! If you get Oghren then leave Orzammar (not with him in your party cuz you will bug him out), go get Shale, then go get Wynne and do the Circle of Magi, you just grabbed 3 companions you would usually complain about at around level 9-10
      Everyone can be saved if you know the tricks of the game
      (cough cough loghain can’t cough)

      There are more occasions. In the Battle of Denerim, his best speech is surprisingly deep:
      "You took in a drunken disgrace of an Orzammar warrior. You gave me the reason to fight and the will to keep going. You helped me find the one woman in the sodding world who might put up with me, and you helped me get past Branka so I could have someone new. I owe you a lot, Warden. I consider it a fine honor to die for you and your cause.
      Oghren: Let the Stone turn red from the blood of heroes. Today I will be the warrior you taught me to be."

    Theory: He’s a Spirit of Judgement, taking the form of a younger Havard the Aegis. While Faith is also a possibility, I think his questions reflect self-judgement more than belief.
    Note how he doesn’t question if Stan regrets murdering children, but if he’s made his people appear like monsters for it. Sten’s judgement is wrapped up in the Qun, which doesn’t let him have even individual guilt outside of how he harms the whole of his people. The Guardian is remarkably adept at reading the silent Qunari in a way he can’t easily dismiss. Forcing the confrontation Sten must have with himself over his duty as a part of the Beresaad and not some cast off.
    Lelianna’s treatment seems especially brutal, because I think she’s one of the most guilt-ridden characters in the game. She questions nearly every action she undertakes so the Guardian attacks her with apparent ferocity, that, in the end, is only a reflection of her struggle to believe she is a person capable of redemption. She’s whipping herself with her own belief and the Guardian brings that out to demonstrate what she must overcome.
    Oghren displays a profound sense of self. He has contempt for himself but he doesn’t let it stop him from moving forward. Still, it could also reflect that the Guardian sees he’s not ready to confront his further problems (hard drinking) and let’s it go.
    Morrigan refuses to engage. The Guardian doesn’t pressure her. It’s obvious she’s not handling her own doubts/insecurities well and belittling her will not help.
    Zevran’s exchange is telling. He doesn’t shut the Spirit down right off without answering his question. Showing the Guardian (and himself) that the harsh slave-childhood he had hasn’t fully extinguished the spark of who he is. For all his glibness he’s not the heartless murderer he seems.
    Shame is a near blank. But the Guardian recognizes the decisions she made in the past and has to make in the narrow scope of her new form. And praises her strength.
    The Warden is always confronted with the pain of someone they love. Implying they still haven’t forgiven themselves for failing in some way. Each failed person comforts them in the Trials. Picture the Warden walking into the room, probably ruminating on the Guardian’s harsh words, only to find their loved one confronting them.
    Teryn Cousland is warm and fatherly. Trian is caustic and bitter. Tamlen is open and trusting. They are perfect representations of themselves, not badly crafted imitators. The Trial there is to speak to who you’ve failed and find a way to move on.

    Interestingly enough idk if this is a glitch or not, but when I played through this section as a Human Noble I purposely chose "my answers are my own" and after the usual comments about how the Warden's silence says volumes Wynne and Alistair and even Sten all said things like "the past is the past, let it go, don't blame yourself". I'm not sure if that was a glitch or if they did that on purpose because they could kind of tell the Warden did feel guilty about the massacre of their family, even if they acted stoic about it and gave a vague answer. I also got + approval from Sten, so I guess he likes it if the Warden acts stoic in response to the Guardian's question lol.
