@@cherimccain12 No they usually only go on top. I grew up with this casserole in Virginia and the onions always wet only on top. And no cheese on the green beans.😊

I have been making this since the 70's. It's so easy and everyone in my family just loves it. My kids always ask for it and sweet potato casserole with pecans on top and brown sugar topping on top. Since my kids were little they have been eating it now they are in their 40's and my oldest grandkids are in their 20's. So it's a definite hit in my family. 😁❤

It might be easier if you mixed the Mayo, soup, worsted shire sauce, onions, and garlic and mushrooms before you put them in the green beans. It might make it easier to prevent breaking up the beans... looks great!

I've made this for more than 50 years. I've never used mayo, milk, fresh garlic, or mushrooms and I don't wait for holidays my famly loves it and asks for it often. Enjoy your videos. Those dogs ate adorable.

Looks scrumptious I've never had green bean casserole before
Although I'm mixed my mother never made things like this. I only had it when I went to another mixed girl's house and her mother made it. With all due respect I always thought "that's white folk food!" Even though again my mother is white. Guess what? It was really good! I was surprised.
My wife loves this casserole and it as well as sweet potatoes with marshmallows are her better be on the Thanksgiving table mandatories lol.

I made a very small simpler version in a circular foil pan . I just used frozen green beans, put onion powder, salt ,cream of mushroom soup , fat free milk and great value French fried onions. Baked for 30 min uncovered then 5 covered. My first time ever making it and omg it was so good. I put it over jasmine rice and had 2 fried chicken wings with it ,delicious.
