Finland’s people want to join Nato despite Russia’s warnings

  • If the Kremlin wanted to stop Nato expansion - that's also not exactly going according to plan.
Today, Sweden followed Finland to confirm it would apply to join the military alliance, both risking the wrath of Moscow.
    (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Sweden has pursued a policy of neutrality for 200 years - while Helsinki's non-alignment is fueled by fears over the security of its long 830-mile border with Russia.
But now that frontier could soon belong to Nato - just 250 miles from St Petersburg.
In Moscow today, President Putin claimed that Russia had no problem with either country joining Nato, but he warned that the "expansion of military infrastructure into this territory would certainly provoke our response... we shall see what threats are created for us”.

sar Bomba, (Russian: “King of Bombs”) , byname of RDS-220, also called Big Ivan, Soviet thermonuclear bomb that was detonated in a test over Novaya Zemlya island in the Arctic Ocean on October 30, 1961. The largest nuclear weapon ever set off, it produced the most powerful human-made explosion ever recorded.
Russia's Tsar bomba: World's most powerful nuclear weapon of mass destruction. The Tsar bomba exploded about 4 km above the ground and reportedly produced a mushroom cloud 60 km high
However, the Soviet Union developed three AN602 physics packages at 101.5 megatons (Mt) and these are more powerful than the Tsar Bomba, which was downscaled to 51 Mt before being used RDS-220 Vanya.
it was modified to yield 50 megatons, which was estimated to be about 3,800 times the strength of the U.S. bomb dropped on Hiroshima during World War II
The declassified study from the scientists at the Los Alamos laboratory, published in 1947 had first shed light on the question that how many nuclear bombs it would take to destroy the world. According to the study, it would take about ten to a hundred 'super nukes' to end humanity

. . There are esoteric sources that said Russia will become something to help lead the world out of this current extreme corruption of mentality and unawareness. Our networks [US/western] and Soros are responsible in support by which through electoral fraud and by coercive means, the current belligerent regime has been installed in Ukraine, that was guilty of bombing its own citizens within months of taking office -- merely for disagreeing with government policy. The majority of Ukrainian citizens are of Russian descent and mix, many of whom have family in Russia -- while these facts will never be revealed by corrupt media who practice no journalism at the corporate level. Putin has been extremely effective at fighting the kind of corruption that we all suffer from; therefore, the need by any means to create crisis and war in the region until the kind of government amenable to a few can be managed in Russia -- as elsewhere where we "fight for democracy" after inciting groups in nations that were too independent. Gadaffi the "terrorist" had established gold backed currency and was establishing a fund to support nations of Africa in place of IMF loan sharking schemes that bankrupt these nations in order to keep the status quo, while little of the money reaches the people in any form who need it -- as does foreign aid serve in the same role, propping up the few who benefit from things as they are and who believed in keeping people in their station for decades, surviving in good years -- an artificially created growth problem when not allowed to participate in western style economy after exploitation of these cultures for their resources who never before experienced a population growth crisis of any kind. Influence and control through networking has always given the impression of concern, circulated among the elite -- that group most easily managed, as they feel too important and have no other desires. Many more people are brought into a similar fold by various means through connections made that last a lifetime in personal, career and business relationships and organizations purposed for supporting this process and information/narratives shared. This is not conspiracy -- as it is a process of normalization in the affairs and evolution of human events.
Normalization rather than conspiracy is how influence and corruption create and take precedence, so that awareness is hostage to the needs for anything other than ourselves to define what is real and acceptable -- the need for any form of consensus to rule us unaware, lest we ever accept responsibility.
The eugenicist's philosophical insider's perspective originates from those influences that have proven time and again that concern in not in existence, but for the control and augmentation and stasis of power -- however addictive such perspective may be. To buy any conscientious philosophy at the level from which conscience is disdained and entirely outside of the culture, is to buy delusion wholesale -- regardless of one's job or social position. Consensus is a powerful motivator that requires no other confirmation or justification.

1939. Soviet - Finnish war. A large detachment of Soviet soldiers travels along the road near the border. Suddenly, from behind a small hill, they hear their voice:
    - One Finnish soldier is better than ten Russians!
The Soviet commander quickly selects the top ten soldiers and sends them over the hill. After a while, the sounds of shots are heard, then
there is silence. The voice says again:
    - One Finnish soldier is better than a hundred Russians!
The furious Soviet commander hastily gathers a hundred of the best of the remaining soldiers and sends them over the hill. There are shots
and after 10 minutes there is silence. The calm Finnish voice resounds:
    - One Finnish soldier is better than a thousand Russians!
The impenitably pissed off commander sends 1000 soldiers over the hill. Rifles shoot, grenades explode, rockets fly ... and again silence. Eventually, one badly injured Russian manages to crawl back to the commander. As he dies, he gives his last words:
    - Don't send any more of ours ... It's a trap ... There are TWO of them!

Few words of Finland's neutrality ... Finland was a neutral country when Russia (USSR) attacked her in 1939. Accordingly, we Finns know perfectly well that neutrality is no guarantee against Russian aggression. After 1948 Finland was not a neutral country until USSR collapsed. We had the "Agreement of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance" with USSR which meant that our position was staked in case of a war between East and West.
Starting from 1992 we have been neutral. But again we see that Russia is as ready as ever to attack its small neighbors. We have no reason to believe that neutrality would protect us more than in 1939. Considering Finland's many experiences as Russia's neighbor, it is quite evident that we Finns would be fools if not joining NATO when we still have the chance.

    • @iAmPesukone

Yeah and the "volunteer" part is, they are as existing reservists *volunteering for extra reservists training* on top of the mandatory rehearsals. Such training is a normal option for reservists in Finland. These courses then usually organized by The National Defence Training Association of Finland (in co-operation with defence forces). There is also various regional reservists associations, which organize voluntary extra training for their members. Where as ones mandatory rehearsals are direct organized by the Defence Forces.
it is just that due to Ukraine situation, there has been little bit more reservists wanting to do extra voluntary activity. Which while significant is not that dramatic. Pretty much every time there is tensions around there is increase in the volunteering.
Panic is not going around, unlike one would think from some of the international reporting.
There has always been trend of "any tensions raise in Europe, there is increase in activity among reservists". It is still relatively small numbers compared to the overall 900k reserves.
We shall see if it follows the normal pattern. Initial increase in interest and then "well nothing more developed", activity goes down in general while some of who got activate stay active in long term also.

@@dougieranger .
