In 2017 and 2018, the debate was "Who was the best player in the world? Bron or KD" that was the rivalry. Steph is 3-1 against LeBron in the finals but he was never the finals MVP in any of those finals.
replace lebron and steph on each others teams in 2017 and 2018 and the warriors would be an 80 win team and the cavs wouldn't even make the playoffs.

We all know Barry is obviously trolling but it’s crazy that so many people can even consider this. In all of their finals matchups Lebron was CLEARLY better than him in every series and Steph was Durant won 2 of those Finals MVP’s. As a KD fan I can whole heartedly say without the warriors he would have no rings and without Steph and Klay being on his team there’s no way he’s getting as many wide open shots as he was getting being on that warriors team. Put him Steph and Klay on the nets in 2022 and the Celtics defense isn’t shutting KD down because they HAVE to stay in front of Steph and Klay. Even when they’re missing their shots you still have to stay in front of them you can’t sag off to double or triple team KD.

Barry I normally agree with your takes and nonetheless always find them hilarious, but Lebron built his super teams too, more than Curry did actually. It was because of Lebron's super teams that the term 'Big Three' gained such prominence and NBA stars started to more frequently move in the first place. First was with Bosh+Wade in MIA, then with Kyrie+Love in CLE, and finally in LA with AD+Westbrook. And the worst part of these Big Three formations is that even though they won a few rings, there was still a lot of choking involved too on Lebron's part.
2016 cavs ain't big 3. Thats a duo. Their 3-4 best player was jr smith and thompson. And Love is not a superstar just because he average a double double in a non playoff team means you're a suprstar, vucevic average 18 and 11 but no one says he a superstar
Yes, Lebron had a historical chokejob in 2011 we all remember it. But besides that, he's hasn't choked on super teams.
Moreover the reason why the Warrior super team was so downbad is context. The warriors were already statistically the best team EVER. Then, Kevin Durant, an MVP caliber player, joined it. Lebron has only ever formed super teams. Not add onto them.
This would all be forgivable to Cury if he was the Undeniable leader, or bus driver on all those teams. He won his first FMVP in 2022.
That's the polar opposite to Lebron. If you want to be compared to the likes of Lebron, not being the undeniable best player on your team in your prime is unexceptional.
Yeah 2011, but where else is this choking narrative coming from? The Kyrie, Love team was successful for what it was, and the losses weren't any fault to Lebron. 2015, 2/3 of the entire super team were injured, and Lebron played amazing. 2016, one of the greatest rings of all time. 2017, don't have to explain this one. 2018, Lebronto+entire team disbanded. And in 2020 he proceed to win another ring with his "super team." And the Russel trade was just a team mismatch, Russel couldn't play well on the team. And Lebron had a great scoring year. Oh yeah and Miami went back to back.
And Lebron was that guy every single time. Curry wasn't. It was never really Lebron vs Curry, and the FMVPs show it.
