    Watched it with my daughter. All of the parent/offspring moments--the conversations--perfectly encapsulated everything I ever wanted to say to her. Even things I tried to say but couldn't get the words right. I just told her: "Did you hear what Miles and Gwen's parents said to them? Just pretend I said that to you and I'm very proud of you."
    She hugged me.

      My mom passed away in 2016. We had those conversations all the way up to the end - the last time we talked she said she was proud of me. I cannot express how much that has mattered since. That's the best present you can ever get your daughter. She will treasure it long after every other thing you give her is forgotten.

      That's quite the company of films you mentioned. Though I can relate, I have to hold my final rating on this film because unlike the others I left the theater with an overwhelming feeling of incompleteness. Not saying it wasn't good. But that it was too good to leave audiences hanging for at least a year (?) or so. I've never heard an audience keep so silent (mostly) throughout a movie only to collectively groan so loudly when the credits rolled. People were complaining and I heard one say "don't bother me with the first part until the second is out' which I completely understand.

    @user-dr2yz8um3d Год назад +4

    Saw the movie today with my sister and her boyfriend!
    Everyone keeps telling Miles how his story is supposed to go but he wants to do his own thing
    Heck he even discovers a part of himself that shakes him to his core; maybe his existence threatens everyone else
    His mother even gives him sound advice being the man he grows into, being loved, feeling like he belongs, never forgetting who he is if no one else will look out for him if not his own parents, and not letting anyone tell him he can’t not belong anywhere
    Nobody should tell you how your story should go, being Spider-Man is a sacrifice, bad things happen but it makes us who we are like the good things, some things are only just for us, the more you try to fix the harder it gets, sometimes kids needs to spread their wings
    I think this was just as good as the first movie if not better
    Love there's deeper context to Spider Gwen's backstory (a bit lengthy) at the beginning
    There's plenty of the heartfelt moments with the family dynamics Miles Morales has to go through finding his belonging wanting to contribute to the multiverse so it’s good they don’t skimp on that
    The visuals are top notch as usual and with the backgrounds matching the emotions our heroes go through like oil paintings or abstract art
    It’s also consistently funny throughout I was smiling so much
    Hip hop and r&b is also a big part of the soundtrack which actually might be more impressive this time
    The Spot voiced by Jason Schwartzman is funny enough although he should've been a bigger villain and I wish they had gotten to the society of Spider people a lot quicker (that should’ve been the crux of the whole story)
    But I do love how there's so many iterations of the character from the comics to the cartoons to video games to the live action movies to even the Lego universe and the Venom SONY Universe! Omg….
    It's beyond crazy there's lot of stuff to look out for it desires repeat viewings to catch all the visual Easter eggs and inside references being so meta
    So many of these spider people have had to endure loss and suffering to become who they are; no matter what incarnation, background, the character is always centered around tragedy
    The twist at the end is quite a bombshell too
    Again it ends so abruptly but the good news is that part 3 will be coming out wrap up this version of Spider-Man
    The movie feels like the middle chapter obviously but the animators still love the style of certain characters whether it's from one universe or multiple ones
    The slower moments do allow Miles to ponder his own journey however challenging it may be learning about fate, friendship, and the cost of being a hero
    A worthy follow up for sure

    Honestly if anything, this movie and Guardians 3 being out right now and both getting rave reviews from critics and audiences just prove that the whole “superhero fatigue” narrative is kinda bullshit. Like yeah I get it, we’re getting too much and a lot of them recently have been just fine or underwhelming, but that’s really the thing: people aren’t tired of superhero movies, they’re tired of mediocrity.
    Whenever we get a bad or mid comic book movie, people bitch about it like, “Man I’m starting to get bored of superhero movies.” but when we get a really good one, they shut up, and we had a few great ones in the pile of average or terrible ones. So lesson is: Make more movies like Spiderverse and Guardians, and less like Quantumania, Shazam 2, Morbius, and Black Adam

    I've never gone back and forth in my mind so many times between two movies. "Across the Spider-Verse" and "Into the Spider-Verse" are easily my two favorite Spidey movies of all time, hands down. Which one is better though? It's tough. I almost feel like giving it to "Into" solely because of the "What's up danger" scene.... But I feel "Across" is a more ambitious and reflective movie, that makes it more intriguing and engaging watch for me. It's fitting that the first movie had that theme/graffiti of "No Expectations", because the second movie really delves into the notion of SUBVERTING expectations. Whereas the first movie hammers down the notion that ANYone can be Spider-Man, the second one is about delving into, and possibly changing what it means to be Spider-Man. "Across" has a more harrowing feel to it, in comparison to the more freewheeling tone of the first. Despite the second one being a solid movie on its own, it is still very much an incomplete story. I almost feel like I can't even judge it properly without seeing "Beyond the Spider-Verse". Maybe that is a criticism, but it is clearly an execution by design. I just loved "Across the Spider-Verse" so much. If the third movie can match what the first two accomplish, we'll definitely have an all-time great trilogy on our hands!

    My only criticism would be if this could've been a series, it could be spread out and paced better while also including more so all the bits that did feel rushed (like Indian Spiderman was for me) could've had some breathing room and also possibly been out in a shorter timeframe than having to wait a year for part 2.
    Then could have the whole story told in loads of episodes that probably spanned 6 months weekly (making equivalent to the length of some 20+ episode animes like Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star). Then again that's more a wish fulfilment hypothetical.

    • @gcolbyp
      @gcolbyp Год назад +4

      That’s one thing I don’t entirely agree with Korey on. Certain MCU movies, yeah they do feel made by committee, even some of the best ones like No Way Home and all the Russo Brothers directed MCU movies don’t really have that much of a style to them, but Phase 4 was definitely the most experimental and some of the directors did shine more, but it was just to varying degrees of success.
      Raimi did elevate MoM despite the movie’s flaws, Zhao definitely brought her signature style into Eternals even if some felt it was out of place in the MCU and the movie would’ve worked much better as a show, Love and Thunder definitely went full Taika but not in the best way, he did go too much on the comedy, and Gunn is definitely the best one with the Guardians trilogy fitting into the MCU while standing on their own while and feeling like his movie.

    • @realityshifter3399
      @realityshifter3399 Год назад +2

      @@gcolbyp Yeah, MCU is doing exactly what they claim they want them to do which is allowing directors to bring more of their own voice into these films. • @gcolbyp
      @gcolbyp Год назад +1

      @@realityshifter3399 Yeah there’s been cases where a director has too much freedom to the film’s detriment, some would say Tim Burton with Batman Returns, The Wachowskis with Speed Racer, recently Damien Chazelle with Babylon, hell I’m even seeing some say that about Ari Aster with Beau is Afraid. There needs to be a middle ground, I want the director’s voice heard on the screen and for movies to bring a style to them, but they also need someone next to them to go, “Hey you’re doing too much man.” That’s why the Guardians movie are a perfect example of that middle ground.
