The scariest thing about this movie, they actually ran a trailer for it in theaters. I know. I saw it. If they knew, it was going to have its world premiere at the video store, they should have saved their money.
I remember seeing that trailer prior to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I think they might have intended at first to run Captain America theatrically, then they actually watched the movie and realized they pretty much had an Ed Wood movie on their hands.
I wasn’t permitted to swear until I was fourteen, I first saw this film on rental when I was ten and involuntarily said “What the Hell???!!!!!!” And my father did not slap me, he agreed that it was a warranted response.🤣
So I read about what happened during the production and it turns out they didn't have the money because they never could secure the bank loan. So what the main producer did was he sent one of the producers to different countries and said Yeah the money's going to be there but for the most part every time he went to a different country the money wasn't there so they had to use the little money they had to finish this movie
I remember being so hyped for this film and that Fantastic 4 film. Those fan magazines hyped then up so much. And we all know how they both turned out.
This still beats the Tim Story FF movies. As crappy as this is, at least they tried to portray Cap and Skull with some respect. The FF movies, on the other hand, treated the Four Stooges and poor man's Norman Osborn like they were in an overly long Robot Chicken sketch XD

Rich Evans from Red Letter Media talked about seeing the poster in his movie theater for ages, with a Coming Soon tag on it. He was so excited for this. Then it just disappeared (the film debuted on video instead, two years later).
If my mind serve me well, I think in this movie Captain America got shot in the shoulder or arm, and lately in the movie he appears with that gun shot in the other arm, the DT guys may have a feast with this movie.
This came out during the Al Milgrom and Ron Lim run, on Captain America. Was really looking forward to seeing this. That’s why it hurt so much when I finally did. The biggest problem for me was the lack of formidability. Rogers is one of, if not the best hand to hand fighter in the MU. This movie reduced him from being an unparalleled ass kicker to always getting his ass kicked and running away. Nowadays, this is just a poorly made movie that’s good for a laugh. Over 30 years ago, it was like getting kicked in the teeth. This totally dropped the ball.
@@nivekleveb8872 - not talking about the writers. Milgrom and Lim were kind of sharing artistic duties on Captain America, during the late 80’s/early 90’s. But, in all honesty, Mark Gruenwald (R.I.P.) was indeed the man.
The 90s were a crazy age for comics since sales were low and the big corps Marvel and Detective Comics were looking for something to keep things fresh. Marvel itself could have gone bankrupt. So we got wild ideas like Venom and the Dark Phoenix Saga in Marvel and the Death of Superman and the death of Robin in DC. Pushing the envelope didn't always go well, but it eventually paid off.
Hi Corey, Martin and team Thanks for this review. I laugh my a** off with it. Just for you to undestand, in the begining of the movie, when they took the boy, I think the langunge the family spoke was italian. I understood some of the words. That may be why Red Skull (or whatever his name is in the movie) speaks with an italian accent. Hope this helps. Waiting for the second part already. Keep doing the good work...
Here's a fun little fact about this movie. One of the scientists who discovered Cap's frozen body was played by actor Bill Mummy who played Will Robinson in the original LOST IN SPACE TV series.
i remember when this came out, it was that bad as a kid watching just for the fact superhero movies were non existent,I still have my OG copy of Comics magazine with Cap on the cover the first ninja turtles movie and Akira.
Damn you Double Toasted, I had a lot of bad opinions on Captain America: the First Avenger because of the Red Skull character. After this review I have to walk back because I didn’t know there was a Captain America 1990 and that was way worse. Thank you for this review and making me look like a jackass for the past 12 years. 😂
I get why, given the low budget, they would have had a hard time paying makeup artists to constantly apply and remove Scott Paulin’s Red Skull makeup (since he obviously couldn’t keep it on 24/7 for the entire movie shoot), but then why did they go the route of making him physically deformed instead of just having him be a guy wearing a mask, like he was for a long time in the comics? It would surely have been cheaper to create a crimson-colored, skull-shaped helmet for the actor to wear all the time (maybe have him be in an accident that fuses it to his face). Would it have been too goofy? I dunno… your main hero wears fully-body blue spandex and has plastic ears and tiny little wings on his head, so I doubt the former would out-goofy that XD
I just put it together that the actor who plays Red Skull also played Christian Slater's father in Pump Up the Volume the same year. 😂 That's a super underrated movie, and he's unrecognizable in this steaming pile.
If you wana get all technical the "Nazis" in the opening scene are actually Mussolini's Italian Fascist Blackshirts. Which explains why Red Skull becomes an adult after being captured. Fascist Italy existed from 1921-1945 longer than Nazi Germany did. Yes I'm one of them history nerds lol.
Red Skull was kidnapped in 1936 as a kid (presumably 12) and in 1943, he would be around 19 (albeit majorly disfigured), and about 66 in the present day of 1990 (though possibly more fit due to the super soldier serum).
21:17 Even with the Nostalgia Critic, that fake out always has me dying XDXDXD Also Korey ain't technically wrong with "Ron Burgundy turned out to be a Nazi," I don't remember the movie but I know Will Ferell actually played a neo-Nazi in it.
Double Toasted should review Barb Wire that movie was supposed to be a remake of Casablanca with a sci-fi theme. It was supposed to be a hit, but bombed real bad. I can see the crew having fun with this one.
There is a extended cut of this film that has a scene where Cap meets up with his contacts in Germany and those contacts are killed and Cap pulls out his gun and shoots the Nazis that killed them.

This movie reduced him from being an unparalleled ass kicker to always getting his ass kicked and running away. Nowadays, this is just a poorly made movie that’s good for a laugh. Over 30 years ago, it was like getting kicked in the teeth. This totally dropped the ball.
There was also a part 2.
Mark Gruenwald, not Al Milgrom
@@nivekleveb8872 - not talking about the writers. Milgrom and Lim were kind of sharing artistic duties on Captain America, during the late 80’s/early 90’s. But, in all honesty, Mark Gruenwald (R.I.P.) was indeed the man.
@@DetroitAlan01 my fault, I forgot they did art on this run
The 90s were a crazy age for comics since sales were low and the big corps Marvel and Detective Comics were looking for something to keep things fresh. Marvel itself could have gone bankrupt.
So we got wild ideas like Venom and the Dark Phoenix Saga in Marvel and the Death of Superman and the death of Robin in DC. Pushing the envelope didn't always go well, but it eventually paid off.
This movie had a sequel too.
Ah, the movie where Captain America fights the evil...er, Flesh-Face? I think even the Skeletor Mask from Masters of the Universe movie looked better.
Finally, finally Korey reviews this magnificent gem of shit! 😃😃
"Don't worry about your lack of training, Steve. The Germans will be so busy laughing at your costume, you can run right up and punch 'em!"
Hi Corey, Martin and team
Thanks for this review.
One of the scientists who discovered Cap's frozen body was played by actor Bill Mummy who played Will Robinson in the original LOST IN SPACE TV series.
omggg i waited sooo long for this i was hoping one day they review this
I want to see a Punisher 89 Bad Movie Roast
And the 1994 Fanstaic 4
i remember when this came out, it was that bad as a kid watching just for the fact superhero movies were non existent,I still have my OG copy of Comics magazine with Cap on the cover the first ninja turtles movie and Akira.
Red skull in this movie looks like Frank from the first Hellraiser.
The utter disgust and disappointment in Martin's voice and face is absolute gold
The kid ‘laughing at everything’ is Billy Mumy from Lost in Space experiencing a career low😂…
The if you say so bit was hilarious 😂
One thing you can say is that once Matt Salinger puts the suit on he looks and plays the part very well.
Maybe this was what his daddy had in mind as the catcher in the rye... Just in blue spandex.
Fantasy 2 who did the special effects on The Terminator did them here as well.
Anyone else here fast forward through those ads DT put in these clips?
21:17 aint no way i just seen this lmaoo
Matt Salinger's real ears were pinned down and they put rubber ones on the mask.
I had this on VHS. LOL. This was horrible.
They was so low budget on this movie, their baloney didn’t have a first damn name
41:33 I am in tears 🤣🤣🤣
the guy in the house is saying in Italian: "what right do you have to invade my house?"
Oh my goodness!!! DT finally reviewing Captain America 1990! 😂😂😂😂😂
This is gonna be good I remember this movie from when I was a kid
Italian Red Skull gets plastic surgery in the future 😂
Using Red Candle Wax
@@thecinematicmind pure truth in that statement 😆
The cuts in Taken 3 ain't got shit on this movie
The laugh at the start of the video was everything I needed ^o^
I wonder how many times they had to reshoot the airplane scene because he didn't get down low enough or he popped up too soon. 😂
Red skull looks like a fruit gusher. 😂
I just put it together that the actor who plays Red Skull also played Christian Slater's father in Pump Up the Volume the same year. 😂 That's a super underrated movie, and he's unrecognizable in this steaming pile.
The actor's name is Scott Paulin and another interesting fact: in the movie, he also played the Cap's doctor
Im dying over here 😭 😂😂😂😅😅
Billy's laugh always makes me crack up lol
If you wana get all technical the "Nazis" in the opening scene are actually Mussolini's Italian Fascist Blackshirts. Which explains why Red Skull becomes an adult after being captured. Fascist Italy existed from 1921-1945 longer than Nazi Germany did. Yes I'm one of them history nerds lol.
Red Skull was kidnapped in 1936 as a kid (presumably 12) and in 1943, he would be around 19 (albeit majorly disfigured), and about 66 in the present day of 1990 (though possibly more fit due to the super soldier serum).
I remember having this and Bloodsport on rotation constantly in the vcr back then
Please review the other Captain America movie with Reb Brown from 1979! 🤣😂
That well if u say so part had me dying🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
damn wish i could watch this but billy has the mic in his mouth every time he laughs. his jaw unhinges or something for that damn banshee scream
🤣, you ain't lying.
I swear billy just bringa me joy
9:50 Ohhh shit, it's a recently deceased famous Jugoslavijan and Bosnian actor M.Nadarević. Damn. 47:40 Gospon Fulir?! Get the f ......
Just started watching yall about 3 weeks ago. This episode would show up today 😅
Capt. America VS The Dude w No Skin from "Hellraiser"
Frank Cotton
21:17 Even with the Nostalgia Critic, that fake out always has me dying XDXDXD
Also Korey ain't technically wrong with "Ron Burgundy turned out to be a Nazi," I don't remember the movie but I know Will Ferell actually played a neo-Nazi in it.
The producers?
Goodwin better be at the Live show In Atlanta! Stay Toasty
The people behind the scenes really tried their best. Have you ever seen the directors cut.
Billy laugh make my day
As cheesy as this is it’s STILL BETTER than the 2 made for TV Captain America movies from the 1970’s lol
I've heard of them and have seen the covers of them.
I have no intention of watching them.
Its 8:59 AM almost ready to get to work and I get Billy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. My BP level is low.
The best movie ever
Seas the blind guy
This movie is bad like realy realy bad. What a hell did they thinking ?
Oh fuck yeah. I'm always down to make fun of this movie. 😂
Woke up at 2am so lets watch some double toasted and finish my beer
Double Toasted should review Barb Wire that movie was supposed to be a remake of Casablanca with a sci-fi theme. It was supposed to be a hit, but bombed real bad. I can see the crew having fun with this one.
Not gunna lie the scene with the undercover nazi killing feels real and scary
One of the few things in this movies defense is that Red Skulls daughters are 🔥😍!
There is a extended cut of this film that has a scene where Cap meets up with his contacts in Germany and those contacts are killed and Cap pulls out his gun and shoots the Nazis that killed them.
