What got me when Miguel essentially blamed Miles for the death of his universe's Spider-Man is that it would imply that Miles getting bit by the wrong spider really did lead to the death of his uncle- in a way, Miles was right when he blamed himself for Uncle Aaron's death because if he hadn't been bit by Earth 42's spider Aaron might have lived. Although this opens the idea that Miles and Earth 42's Miles were supposed to be switched- he was supposed to be the Prowler while Earth 42's Miles was supposed to be Spider-Man evident that the spider was shown being taken away just as it was about to bit Earth 42's Miles.
When I realized that my heart sank just because Miles was so devastated after watching Peter die then watching his Uncle die and everyone was so insistent that he shouldn't blame himself- to suddenly realize that him being bitten by that spider Not only lead to the needless death of Spider-Man but also his uncle and the chaos of what happens in Universe 42 it adds to that immense weight that was already on Miles.

That’s super cool that Korey interpreted the opening scene with Gwen the same way I did when I saw the movie. Honestly I think a lot of scenes in both movies can serve as good metaphors for queer culture.
Like the scene in the first one where Myles gets back home after witnessing Spider-Man’s death, he asks his dad if he really hates Spider-Man, to which his dad replies “yes.” I thought that was really reminiscent of a lot of queer people’s experience when they know they aren’t straight but want to know if their parents would still accept them if they knew. Unfortunately for too many of them, they know they have to keep it hidden, just like the other Spider-People in the movie.
That’s just one example, but there are so many others I could mention. Excellent spoiler discussion as always!

After going back to Into the Spider-Verse after Across the Spider-Verse, I just realized that Miles’s spider-sense turns from green and purple to red and blue.
It goes from Prowler colors to Spider-Man colors. This suggests that Miles was originally on the path of Earth-42 Miles. He was set to become the Prowler’s protege as opposed to Spider-Man whereas 42 Miles was supposed to become Spider-Man. That’s such a brilliant way of playing into the theme of Miles’s story of feeling like his path is laid out for him, but he just wants no expectations. Bendis talked about giving Jefferson and Aaron a criminal past to have Miles question what his life story would be. Whether he was destined to walk in his father and uncle’s shoes. Such a subtle detail that becomes so obvious on a rewatch.
Loved Oscar Isaac’s performance though. He was perfect for the role. Loved how they gave Miguel more Spanglish dialogue right down to how Miguel pronounces words. It speaks to his biracial identity and gives him a connection with Miles in a way that Peter and Gwen don’t have.
I didn’t have Martin’s problems with the first half feeling like a CW show. That time that it takes to delve into the characters is what gave the story weight when the multiversal shenanigans happened. Without that I actually don’t think the film works at all. For me the introduction of the canon works on a subtextual level that I love, but I think it doesn’t work nearly as well when it’s made to be textual. I have so many questions about that I feel are much too distracting that I wouldn’t have if the canon talk was kept purely as a meta commentary. So yeah, the Gwen and Miles familial relationships and romantic relationship with each other was the heartbeat of the film. The canon plot actually doesn’t work as well, but doesn’t hinder the film from being a Full Price. There is so much quality content here that I have to applaud it.
    Can’t wait for Beyond!

It's a canon event. Simple as that. It actually did happened in the comics for Miles Morales, that his father dying defined his moral compass and strength as Spider-Man.The film challenges the notion and status quo that being Spider-Man is a heavy burden too, that the people we care for or help us, end up getting hurt or killed. Miles is looking at it from the life experience of a teenage, whereas every Spidey recruited has experienced this pain and burden enough to know it's a part of who they are and defines their ability to be heroes. Absolutely kind of warped and exactly what would happen with a society governed around the Multiverse. I feel we may get a payoff from this in the next part.

I do love the different art styles on the screen it's truly a visual feast but it is an onslaught
It works well on the page because you can take your time to appreciate each frame. When moving at 24-30 fps, it's a lot to préparé for.
To me, Death of loved ones is essential to Spider-man. Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacey, Captain Stacey, Norman Osbourne (at the time he died) in the orignal ASM comic line
Death is part of who Spider-man is. As much as Spidey is a fun character, he is also a tragic figure and especially for à teenager
Miles is our generations Spider Man no debate. By lineage, experiencing Death is part of being Spidey.

Then the end is she does tell him and he stops being a captain - the no cannon event. She was never opening up or finding her place with a group and now she has a group she made - she is opening up and now they are going to help the young man that helped them change for the better. They rushed that ending and did not making slow and clear enough. They actually needed it to take about 5

Dunno if that was on purpose as a FU to Sony, but it's one of many things I love about this damn movie.

The movie was awesome. Spider-Punk was such a bro the dude lowkey knew who was in the right, the Spot was hilarious and is going through such a glow up, and bruh when Miles entered that other universe I knew something wasn’t right. I KNEW it was another universe! I hadn’t seen the first one in theaters, so to go out of my way to see this one made me regret not going the first time around

I just got a 3D Blu-Ray of Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse. I actually had to order it from Asia, it's an Italian 3D Blu-Ray release. If any movie was meant to be seen in 3D it is this one! I can't imagine seeing it any other way, it's breathtaking! This movie was literally designed for 3D and I know it wasn't even in the theatres here in the US in 3D as far as I know! Anyways, love your channel. I'm actually probably one of the few people in this country who actually got to see this movie in 3D. It was worth all the work finding it!

i think for the next movie they could do something where the two universes combine somehow since Miles is part of those universes (his original where his uncle died and the one the spider came from when his dad died instead) so combine both his dad and uncle would have died but also could still be alive.

Agreed with everything here, ya'll didn't mention how they maneged to show Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as people were anticipating if they were going too. As well as Spectacular Spider-Man, I was surprised that they showed him and gave him a line lol 😄 😄.
Also, I too get tge story they are telling between Miles and Gwen but that means there needs to be good pay off for their romance in the next movie. I feel like big movies have been lacking decent romances and so at least have them kiss and get together in the next movie, is this too much to ask lol?
Sidenote: I even like how they kind get a little jealous of each other's other potential love interests like Gwen with Hobbie or Miles with Margo Kess 😎.
Lastly, much like the build up to Endgame the trailers for this film will be interesting to see and thankfully the sequal is suppose to come out in march 🤔.

I just left the theater... I'm kind of disappointed. My biggest problem with the movie is that it's not a movie. It's the first two acts of a movie and then it just ends. In fact, it's mostly one act of a movie. The second act really kicks off when Miles finds out his dad needs to die. Also, you can really feel Sony cramming in as much Spider-Sonyisms that they could get away with before being a problem. Every Sony owned Spider property is in this film to its own detriment. As opposed to Martin and Herman, I loved the first half WAY more than the second half. The character work with Gwen and Miles is way more compelling than the Spider-verse stuff.

I like the idea that Miguel's anger towards Holland's Parker is more out of envy rather than hatred. Especially since when faced with similar circumstances, Holland was able to find ways to save his villains from their "canon events," and Miguel wasn't. 2099 looks at Holland as the Spider-Man he can never be, and the breeds resentment.

Miles arc in this movie is similar to Tom Hollands Spidermans arc in no way home. Miles wants to have it all to save his dad and the multiverse. Similar to how Tom's Peter Parker wanted everyone to forget him except his family and friends.
Both of them want it all but can't make the necessary sacrifice.
I think in the sequel Miles father will die to teach him to teach him that you can't save everyone.

Exactly, he was goofy but it doesn't mean it's bad, not sure why the crew is acting like that wasn't the case. So I know we got a whole part 2 that might answer my issues with the plot but there's 2 things that bug me about the canon events Miguel was fighting for.
    1) Peter A. Parker should've had the canon events already before Miles took over after his death right? Like we know he lost Uncle Ben, did he have a Captain Stacey?
    2) Why didn't earth 42 die off never having spider-man do his canon events?
I might've missed something, but hopefully these get address in part 2.

I didn’t understand why if you interfere with your timeline it could destroy your whole universe. That made no sense. I was thinking it would made more sense what we saw with this end where if something else happened, another bad event could happen. Like instead of Mikes uncle dying, his father died, which caused Miles to become a villain. I didn’t need world ending event. Or of we do have that, it could just be by saving his dad, he lets the villain go, which causes a world ending event. It just makes no sense to me because Miguel went to a different universe, where he is alive, the universe started disappearing, Who or what is causing this?
