Great informative videos as always, I’ve got 2018 f150 with the panoramic sunroof and the tabs/brackets for the shade broke off any idea if it can be replaced separately or what I need exactly? thanks a lot
If you're talking about the 2 mounts for the shade where the metal bar attaches and they pull the shade back and forth, the only way they come is with a new track. Not available separately that I've ever seen. You'd have to disassemble the track itself to put them in if they did.
Great video with mine after doing the procedure with the shade after pressing the back button it goes bavk an inch amd will not go any further can you help me with this?
@@dogman9822 well I am not 100% sure what is wrong. I just looked at a 2022 yesterday with kind of that similar issue. We are going to replace both the motors and the switch in that. I won't know if that is the problem until the parts come in though
I can't tell for sure based off these other comments descriptions. So our shade will open and close just fine but the fabric itself droops all the way down as the shade opens. The mechanics seem to be working just fine but the shade itself isnt tight and doesn't (what i assume) rolls into itself. I've tried looking at other videos and i found something that shows how to get to all the inner workings by basically taking off the trim and pulling it all out to expose the sunroof system 😬 We just had our 2020 taken in to fix the overheating engine recall and asked for them to fix described sunroom problem and they quoted us $2800 to fix it?! Idk if it matters but we are in California bay area. Absolutely bonkers
@@SealofPerfection I thought I replied to this but I guess it didn't post. Is this something my husband and I could attempt together? Or are we just SOL unless we pay the dealership two months rent 😅 my daughter loved the panoramic roof and she's been asking when we are gonna fix it 😔
@@katelynnboyd9141 They are a huge pain, IMO. I don't have a video on it yet. Not sure if I ever will. I'd need someone else to film. I'm not sure I'd want the dealership doing it, unless they have someone who has done a couple already. Not for the faint of heart, not the first couple of times, anyway. Sorry but that's how I feel about them. I can do them pretty well now, but those first couple were SUPER "not fun".
Did you have to remove the headliner to install the new sunroof shade? Or were you able to install the shade from removing the sunroof glass? My shade cover is drooping. I’m assuming the sides came off track.
Hard to say without seeing it. If the sides that hook under the tab that keep them tight are not messed up then it could possibly be put back in place, but they fit into a little slot and if they are messed up at all or mangled, it will probably need to be replaced.
Test drove a 2020 today. It has EXACTLY what you described in that it bunches up at the back. How did you fix that? And did it just jump off the track, spring broke, or ? Please let me know. Thanks!
So my shade moves back fine and all but the front half has just come out of the track, is there no way to slide it back into the track? It’s just the sides in the middle
@@SealofPerfection well dang, how much are they to replace? I just got the car a couple days ago and it’s come out, could I source the part from somewhere?
@@spencertechgaming as far as I know you can only get them from the dealer or Ford authorized parts distributors. There are some online such as Ford parts Giant
@@SealofPerfection is it possible to replace on my own. I do have the technical skill to do it, just need to know how difficult it would be. I’ve replaced things under the hood but never the inside

Does it run through its full range of motion while you're doing the procedure?

@@katelynnboyd9141 there's a good bit of Labor involved. You need your shade replaced most likely. It's not uncommon. I just did one last week

Dropped it from about the rear grab handles back. You have to to get at the 8mm nuts that hold the shade to the roof
What if the sunshade is off track but it’s not ripped or anything but it was because of that molding that fell off? Is it fixable ?

Replace the shade. It's not a fun job. I think it just came loose on the side, but a couple I've seen were caused by the plastic molding falling off

Probably not. I have had to replace a few of these for that reason and usually once they come out they are not very salvageable.
