Yay! Great to see the Notorious out again. Also to get the screws out you only need to remove the screws that go into the shock tower, not the whole diff case, and shocks.
This exact break at the wing mount happened to me and it was intimidating. I wish I knew this video was made before I did it. I figured it out in the end. I put shorter screws in as I didn’t want to pay $6 for 4 screws and used shorter ones I already had , let’s hope they will come out if this happens again…lol. Man, I love the Notorious. I cut the wing mount/wheelie bar off on mine close to the shock tower. Just say no to pickup trucks having a wing lol. The wingmount/wheelie bar is too much leverage to land on and not break something. It's like taking a long wrench and prying at the shock tower every time it lands on the wheelie bar
Rather than use the vice grips to remove the broken screws, take your drill with no bit, tighten down over the screw, as if the screw was itself a bit, then hit reverse. Voila, instant removal. Credit to Kevin Talbot for that great trick.
I couldn’t on those screws. The drill won’t fit. That’s a well known trick for any kind of rod or screw that spins. I’ve been doing it for like 15 years. We used it a lot on hinges.
I love the notorious I put a 15 t pinion and it’s just crazy it will beat your felony in a race but u have to roll into it with the notorious from 15 feet
Can you recommend proper use for cleaning bearings? I finally broke my first new truck this past 3 months playing to rough, funny! . My shock twice broken and now my one bone bad and new Diff Outdrive Steel...
I haven't been running my notorious recently because everytime it gets run the first good wheelie rips the wing straight off the mount since those threads only have like 2 or 3 little threads of engagement on the wing itself ive been looking for something better then the stock one myself
It’s a fun RC, but it stays broken. Be sure to take all the screws out of the bottom and locktite them. Also your wheel nuts. Actually, locktite everything. I also upgraded the rear diff to the EXB diff. This thing eats rear diffs stock
I used the stock wing mount but i just used a dremel and made them the shape of the rpm ones became a lot more flexible bit a bit less flex than the rpm. The rpm wing mount you can move it without any force. The job of the wing mount is to dicipate the impact. Something the tbone racing doesnt do at all. Their plastic is too hard. You saw all the energy was transfered to your wheelie bar and the screws. Can even rip ur gearbox or bent the chassi in the long run. And tbone racing warranty is kinda of a pain in the butt. I only broke two rpm sets in a year. They broke near the screw tunnel. The rpm bents side to side but doesnt like to be pullet up and down much and it breaks due to plastic fatique. It turns white on the spot and breaks. Dont try to bend it back into shape boil them down to regenerate the bond or just plastic weld.
I was trying to get them made but its stupid expensive. They are either like $60 each if I buy only a few or I have to spend like $5000 in hats to get them cheaper. I don't want to go with a cheap brand.
Can you just eliminate the wing mount and wing ? Seems like its a prob. Are you shimming the diff ? Just curious. I almost bought one of these but got a Mojave EXB. And built a beast.
Arrma should sell the wing and wing mount in plastic more flexable. So it dont breake, just flex. The wheelie bar should be ok anyway. The tbone racing one is junk its heavily reviewed you need the rpm ones. When they break you can just plastic weld it togueter. Plastic welding is a,azing. Just need soldering iron with a shit tip and arrma broken plastic
I wished I would have realized that the shock Tower was not threaded because I tried to drill them out and destroyed my diff housing and the shock Tower now I have to buy a new diff housing and shock Tower to repair the wing Mount screws that broke

Had the same issue with the Kraton. Replaced with RPM mount, flexes well and rolls with the punches so to speak

What size gear and diff fluids are you using? Spins and responds fast in the air? Mine doesn't do that even on punch 9.
How has the aluminum wing mount held up a year later? I just installed one on my Outcast 6s and haven't gone out to test it yet. 🤛💪

Yes but the wing protects the body and the rear shock tower. The body catches on the ground a lot with out the wing.

I think I've solved the sheared screw issue... gonna hit a few more jumps. If it holds up, I'll give you a shout in my video for it if that's cool!

Yes you can. But if upyou land in the rear. Your shock tower would be distroyed same for your diff gearbox

See, I heard just the opposite. That the RPM ones are bad.
If you stand with your face to the sun, you won't cast a shadow onto the table. But it may be bright in your eyes, so maybe use sunglasses?
