TheStraightPipes nah, I’ll be the hated one but no DSG, no sale! I’ve always felt auto manufacturers try limiting sales by offering manual only performance models (ahem Ford and Honda) because maybe they aren’t as profitable but they still want halo vehicles. Really I don’t know, I just always am frustrated with limiting options.

I know it seems like that, but Hyundai has ALWAYS sold more Velosters in the US than Elantra GT's. As much as I want them to bring over the i30N as well, this is probably the smarter play. You really cant compare those cars to a WRX/STI as they are AWD. Same goes for the Focus RS and VW GTI R. Although the STI, and RS is track focused out of the box so i guess its sorta in that bracket but the WRX has softer suspension so more of a daily all season hoon car out of the box. They also dominate in the snow / dirt. So, must say, gatta leave the comparison to the other FWD cars.

This is the Si-R that Honda should have built. Above the Si, below the Type-R, but this car looks so clean, so well built and built for fun. I think this is going to steal a lot of people away from the GTI, and SI/Sport Touring. My personal pet peeve of this car was that, I read on the Canadian Hyundai Website that they were bring this car into Canada in limited quantities. I'm hoping that the Veloster N program is successful, so that I'll be able to buy one next spring. Amazing content Jacob and Yuri!

@@alexandrefauchon7755 buddy you're speaking my language. I've always been a fan of the idea of the progression of Si, Si-R and then Type - R because if you wanted something engaging like the Type - R but with dialed back looks, and performance that might not be as "scary" or "out there". something that's more fun focused like the Veloster N in lieu of something thats meant to annihilate the tracks and then drive back like the Civic Type - R. if Honda were to adopt the SI/Si-R/Type-R progression, that would also open up the possibility to bring back an N/A VTEC motor. The Si could be the N/A Vtec model, and then like you said you have a Turbo Si-R, and then we would then have the Type-R.
I remember when the Civic Si-R was still being made in Canada, they weren't all that common but boy were they different and cool. With the Shifter being so close to the wheel, the seats and the K20, even though it was detuned from the JDM version. We're living in a dream world tho bud. :/

@@xavierdesouza4089 definitely, I would dream that it comes true! I would really consider buying a civic si-r in some year if it existed. Personally, I love the look of the type r 2018 but it is a bit expensive and the sound is to quiet for me. I miss the era of Vtec engines that rev at 10,000 rpm. I sincerely find that the Vtec should be in the new civic SI and even in the touring. The Vtec is what made Honda's history and they have to keep it alive. Seriously imagine a SI-R Vtec turbo of 270hp with an exhaust worthy of the name offered for 35 000 Canadian it would be just crazy !!! Seriously I would even like to see them offer a base model at about $ 1500 more than the SI but with a fairly limited equipment because seriously we do not need all of those cameras that increase the price of the car. With the veloster and the rumors about the new celica, I hope that Honda will move and become what it was before. The problem is the S.U.V that prevents cars like the s2000 or the integra from seeing the day again. I remember the SI-R 1999 2000 it was really cool as a car. It will probably never happen but it would be crazy. The new honda linup is still nice but it is nothing compared to the 1990's lineup. I mean all japanese linup was so nice in the 90's (240sx, integra, supra, skyline, sti, etc)

Had my N for a couple months now. Still loving it. In case anyone is watching this and considering buying, here's all my CONS for the car. (Don't worry, I'd still buy it again every time)
    -Turn radius is annoyingly large
    -Rear visibility is poor
-Rearview mirror is mounted too high, so the view is pointed down, and you can only see about 100 ft behind you
-there's a wide angle corner mirror on the driver side mirror, but I have the huge ass coupe door, I can just turn my head. On the passenger side where the actual biggest blindspot is, there ISNT a wide angle. Kinda weird.
-launch control is finicky. Takes a couple tries.
-slightly stiff suspension for street. You'll be bracing a little bit for holes and bumps.
-defaults back to Normal mode on startup, defaults to rev matching off. It's quick to tap the flag twice on entry and becomes habit but still worth noting. This is probably because of some EPA regulations or some shit like that.
-rare/costly maintenance. Rare oil weight, rare trans fluid, rare brake fluid. Definitely not negligible maintenance cost.
-fuel efficiency WILL be less than advertised or you're driving it wrong. If you're getting above 25mpg (excluding ONLY highway) you bought the wrong car.
-I have a manual, 2nd gear is a little rough to switch into, takes some time to get used to. But boy does it pull. 2nd gear above 3500 is the most forward Gs you'll probably get.
-The car is NOT for going in a straight line. You WILL lose. Stick to the corners and you'll be punching way above.

Allen Jin 1/4 mile and 0-60 times are almost equal with the N a DSG Mk7 should pull a little , stage 1 would pull a bus on the N easy.

Type-R still the reigning hot hatch champ but overall driver usability i30 N and then Veloster N after that the rest.
Car is just full of naughty character but is still practical ( sort of ) in carrying stuff and friends aboard.
Congrats for being the fastest at the track guys.

The engine in the Veloster N(Theta II 2.0T GDI) has been out since 2011, and was initially released in the same configuration as the Veloster with 274 hp. They de-tuned them the last couple years in the Santa Fe and Sonata for better gas mileage, but there are plenty of them that have been on the road for 7 years producing the same power as in this car. I had a 2013 Santa Fe 2.0T with this motor with the same power output as this car, and it was rock solid the entire time I owned it (almost 6 years and ~60k miles). Not to mention you have the 10 year/100k mill powertrain warranty to fall back on should anything go awry.

Love this channel! One little nit pick. I encourage you to cut back on "But, whatever" and "For what it is" in your reviews. I think you are leaving more detailed information and descriptions out. Man I wish I could be part of your crew! Living my dream. I'll just have to keep living vicariously. Thank you both for taking the risk to make this channel work. I wish you nothing but HUGE success.

Man the veloster face lift really sold me. They used to be so ugly but I could totally see myself owning a 2019 veloster N. Looks fun and visually looks good to me. Plus not a bad price. Lowkey might pick one of these up in the future. My best friend and I are huge Honda fans and he plans on picking up a brand new civic SI in the future. Base model veloster N is 2 grand more and has 50 more HP. This car is a good deal

I own a 2016 wrx and 2018 civic type r. If this had come out last year, I would've got it over the ctr. The pricing makes it so attractive. I'm all about dollar per dollar performance. The warranty on a sports car like this is also so good. So many issues with ctr owners made me hesitant to buy it.

Put my money where my mouth is and grabbed one. 2020 Performance Package in White. Huuuge hot hatch fan as first car was Gti. Have had 2 GTIs,Mazdaspeed3,Wrx, 2 Srt4's(still have one) and up until recently a Fiesta St. This car the Veloster N is a hoot to drive anywhere, great midrange power and she pulls in a very smooth linear fashion once the power is put down. I could go on and on about all the great features. I would rank it right up there with my srt4 in the feeling I get. Still not getting rid of it, she's only got 75k miles mostly stock and runs great. I love the srt4 hate, bring it 😈

    • @npaul4171
      @npaul4171 4 года назад

The SRT-4 is one of the quirkiest cars ever made. It had the interior of my old PT Cruiser, and yet acceleration that would leave pricy sports car owners doing a doubletake as they got walked by a friggin' Neon that sounded like a NASA Space Shuttle launch. I loved it when it was new and I love it today when I see one on the road. Don't ever get rid of it. Our N's have a lot of character, but the SRT-4 is such a unique car and we will probably not see anything like it ever again.

@@npaul4171 I knoooow duuude having such a hard time. Its just money sitting there now yknow. Im trying really hard to keep it and probably will in the end. Its post like these and all the SRT-4 love i get when i take her out that solidifies how much i love that car. Its funny the srt-4 gets hate on the internet but i literally have not ran into a single person who gives me shit about mine in public. I run into sooo many people that freak out when they see mine "ohhh shit is that an SRT-4 dude? omfg i love'd these i wanted one so bad, you never see these anymore!". It happens just about every single time i take her out. It just got a bad rep from all the young kids who bought one and ripped of them while not knowing how to maintain them. They're actually made quite well and botttom end can hold 400-500hp easy. No other car has given me such a feeling when driving(ok maybe my uncles gt500), its so raw, you feel one with the road. That wing actually does something you can actually feel the car get tighter once your up to high speeds. Mine is straight piped as well full 3" all the way to the turbo, super loud but idaf.
