I had the 900 and ended up with the 500. This V2 is exactly what the 500W line needed. I essentially just use my 500 as a power head as I have a helix as well. If I was just running the head itself, and not a helix, Id jump on this. The EQ on this alone is a huge improvement over knobs. The compression is just icing on the cake.
Hi mate, did you fell too much difference between both? I really want to buy one to rehearsals and play alive but I don't know if it make too much difference
@@FelipeKopkebass my v2 ended up overheating on me due to a cooling fan failure. I returned it and got the Laney digbeth 500. The v2 was louder than it needed to be but I think it's flawed. Doing it all over again if I was going to buy a dark glass head id go with the 900. They seem to be less problematic
The future is here. This is literally the start of something cool. I’m seeing some good updates coming from this I’m really hoping for a interface like the elements this is a huge deal for me I was using the helix. But now I use this for everything. Practice, recording ,gigs these has it all. I like the headphones feature when I’m up till 3am practicing haha
RUclips’s best pedal review/test channel. Also, by using pick you’ll get the fullest potential out of a pedal, and just gives ya a better impression it.
How to make a great amp even better... I have the V1. The only thing I don't like is not having Aux In. It would have been useful when used whith headphones... Other than that, I think this V2 is a great upgrade. The graphic EQ is more convenient than what we have on the V1. The cab sim switch and app are great too. And also they increased the price by 2€ only which is very cool... I will not upgrade mine for this one because I am happy with mine, but the new features are really nice to have for people buying this today. I think the V2 in terms of features and sound is really beating some amps around 1,5k€... Great job darkglass
And as always Patrick thanks for your great work :) PS: please whenever you can, demo the Ibanez TMB 35, I could not find any good demo of this weird 5 string short scale bass. The main bass magazine here in France tested it and said it was super good, especially in this price range. But magazine is only paper, no sound ...
Awesome demo, Patrick. \m/ that amp sounds killer. Especially with that Ibanez bass. It looks really nice. I’m a huge darkglass fan too. I own a vmt and a microtubes x. They sound totally awesome and I treasure these pedals.
I know the format is quite different, but if you were just a bedroom guitarist who is tracking bass (in mediocre fashion), would something like this or the Microtubes infinity preamp be a better fit? I had the Darkglass Luminal compressor and didn't enjoy the touch strips on that, but this was a while ago and not sure if they've improved. While I think the amp head would be a better ui for my brain, not sure if sonically there is a huge difference between the two for direct recording.
I was really expecting a new Microtubes X head with the HPF and LPF functionality. As much as I want this head, I know they will just realize the head I really want! (Stereo out for parallel processing)
As someone who has worked in tech most of their life, I don't think I can get excited about firmware updates for amps. Killer sounding amp though! Seems like a super flexible and versatile piece of kit.
Patrick Hunter - great video as usual. I couldn't stop noticing that the eq lights change from red (eginning of the video) to blue (after you showed the cab sim feature). Can you explain a bit more about it? Keep up the awesome work!
I've read comments about how darkglass microtubes goes well with dingwalls like bread and butter...yeah not for me. The sound that comes out feels way too artificial and distorted. Dingwalls are great basses with a smart configuration, but I wouldn't pair it with a darkglass.
Hey brother! I have a Boss GT1-B multi-effects. It would be great if you asked to make a video explaining how to achieve that type of sounds and / or more using that type of pedalboards
Every time I try to find a used one, someone beats me to it. I need a smooth clean tone, not that primitive fuzz/distorted tone (this is not 1970). The weight is nice. Worked nice with my Carvin basses. Need to find the right cabinet to use with it.
Having a few effects in it would be nice. I dried one that had some installed. A chorus is nice, but get rid of that fuzz/distorted thing. This isn't 1970!
So, looking for a new bass head and this has intrigued me. Recommend for a cover band along the lines of Me First and The Gimme Gimmes? Kinda NOFX-ish but covers.
Hey Patrick! love the channel. I got a V2 and I love it! Just curious if you had any suggestions on dialing in a justin chancellor tone with the amp? thanks!
Tone wise how does this match up to the 900 watt version? I know the 900 has more features but does the gain knob and extra watts make a difference in the tone much or is the 500 just as good?
anyone else got this amp head defective ? got mine on Jan pre ordered on DIC and well.... a month later it keeps turning off by it self and the warranty on the store its past due tried contacting Darkglass and nothing yet.
Question: do you need to have a cabinet attached to the amplifier head if you want to use the cab sims? I know unplugging a tube electric guitar head from a cab (even if you're using built in IR's) will cause it to completely break. Is this the case with solid state bass heads? Thank you for the clarification!
Does anyone know of anything like this but for guitar? I’m going to college soon and need a tiny amp but the ones I’m finding either don’t sound that great to me or are too expensive
