Given how mature the music effects market is, it's pretty amazing that a company can still start up and establish a sound that is totally identifiable and distinctive...like you have Fender cleans, Marshall leads, Orange crunches...Darkglass is absolutely up there in terms of companies whose names are not just brands but full-fledged adjectives.
Lo triste es que probablemente si te hubieras quedado en Chile no tendrías el mismo éxito. Congrats, man. You're putting out awesome stuff and I can't wait to get one of your pedals one day!
Great video, Gregor! Dark Glass is fantastic! I have an M900 as my only amplifier and it has served me quite well. It’s good to know that they are good folks as well.
I’ve resisted Darkglass as a me too trendy brand for trendy players. I played a markbass (another trendy brand) head n cab and hated it. It was mud. Id read good things about Darkglass but I’m not a full on aggressive metal head. Tried it anyway. I can get similar tones to my ebs valve pedal. The clarity and depth leaves my fender stage 800 way behind. I am sold. Ordering a 2x12 cab and the micro tubes 900 v2 amp. It was great seeing the people who have made stuff for me! Thank you for your fantastic work and design.
They're my favourite pedal company! I love the alpha-omega pedal although i don't do a very distorted bass, i wish i could have that pedal just to surprise people with how crazy versatile it is!
Very cool Video. I like that you also showed the people who work there. Besides that I was eyeballin with the Alpha Omega already, so I made myself a little christmas gift by ordering one.
fantastic video. Darkglass are by far my favorate bass pedal company (MXR close second), what an incredible company and articulate and down to earth CEO and diverse staff.
You guys make the best pedals ever nobody's even close I use the symmetry compressor, original bk3 with the toggle switches, and the vintage 3 deluxe. Can't get any better combination. I wish you guys had some modulation
Tremendo Darkglass , me cambie después de años de transportar un Ampeg muy pesado que tenía, ahora más cariño le tengo si es un Chileno el creador de la marca...! Darkglass por siempre
These video premieres are becomming annoying, now youtube has disabled hiding them in my feed. Unsubbing from BtW is not an option but the fact that Ive considered it might be an interesting information.
@@frozenfrogz Mmmm not sharing your attitude. Just, premiere gimmick was annoying when it appeared and than on top of that, YT broke the hiding functionality.
Thank you for doing this video, I thoroughly enjoyed it. As for what I would like to see next, I am not sure. I would lean toward some collaborations with other RUclipsrs or even an event like what Henning Pauly did with guitars.
664 likes wish i could like it twice more....lol....That guy should be the official dark glass demonstrator...Sold me on these when i can get my hands on one i will.
The guy's a visionary in modern metal tones. Starting two game changing companies in a short period of time. I'm disappointed he sold Darkglass out to Korg in '22. Hold on to those Darkglass units that say "Made in Finland" on the front, as I'm sure they'll be outsourced to China quickly.
Everybody shreds in Finland. You know that they just went up to the shipping dude and went "hey all them pedals, you want to try them on break? With your bass?" and he said "sure!". Then after he said "I did great job! Can I keep a pedal?" "no. these pedals aren't going to ship themselves, so, keep ur job? cool."
And just like that, I'm into soldering and would really like to work for Darkglass. Then they can add a Norwegian to the Iist as well. Anyways, these are fantastic products! Bravo! ❤️
Hahaha! That would be funny. But I would need A LOT of training though. Or do something other than soldering. Like product testing! That would be awesome!
Great show. Random ads in the middle keep me from subscribing. I don't mind ads, but disrupting the content is probably not the best way to do it. I try to avoid subscribing to channels that if I decide to just let their back catalog on the channel play through that we won't get spammed or delayed. I did get a pleasant surprise today, though. While waiting for a new release from a record company that I really wanted to see, I got an ad that was the full live shot video of a band that I had recently subscribed to and had seen the video probably 100 or more times. I watched the ad longer than the new release. lol
good for metalheads, not much for the softers. the vintage series did not convince me. maybe because of the player. gosh this treblish sound is terrible
@@KoffyGG I would rather get the Warwick version of that shape - The Streamer - just can't beat that Wenge neck. And Warwick have the most adjustable bridge money cab buy. I just don't see why Spectors are so special. Did you see how much the B-string was moving! The dude needs a 35inch scale.
I heard some back to back comparisons between the Vintage ultra and b7k ultra, with the same settings and I'm sure you could get nearly the same sounds out of the B7Ku. But the Vintage can not put out the amount of distortion that the B7Ku can do. I just use my B7Ku as an overdrive. The Blend/Level/Drive knobs are like a magical combo - you can really set the perfect balance of grit and reactive-ness. I don't like the fizzy, Trebly examples of the B7Ku and X Pedals either. It's like everyone has exactly the same shitty metal sound in every video!!! But I tell you The B7Ku is the KING of Overdrives!! You can get any sound you want out of it. Try one in a store if you can.
Would like to know who uses these pedals other than heavy metal bass players. Or heavy metal bass players that are popular and have record labels. Or don't have record labels and we all know who they are. I've been playing bass 50 years I'm not a heavy metal fan. I love Rush I do hear Distortion in Gettys Bass but, I can hear every note clearly whether it be in playing very low on the neck or even the high notes. I guess I'm just not into heavy metal. Sorry guys. These petals are not for me. I look more for a quality Bass oh, how the woods sounds, when I go and buy a new base the first thing I do who played with no an we're headphones I just want to hear how it sounds with no electronics whatsoever. Once I pick that bass, then I start choosing which pedals I want to use and or amp. Thanks again for the video good luck in the future
Where would you like us to go next?
Any other factory tour ( instruments factory). Very interesting video . Thanks bass the world!
It must be easy for you Gregor to visit next Sandberg ;-)
That’s my main plan at the moment 😉

Dingwall factory! I’d love a similar play through of all of their models.
The Darkglass team are some of the nicest and most intuitive and creative groups in the business. Love em to death!

mega awesome and diverse company. Doug is a nice guy and totally on the same wavelength as me. Glad that I bought vintage ultra v2 a week ago

Was the name of the company somehow inspired by the founder's first name?
Cool vid.material. !
I had an issue with my pedal and Darkglass got it resolved in less than 24 hours :0
What's the song at 2:50? Or is it just a demo tune?
Either way, it's killer.

Spectors are very modern sounding IMO. Sort of springy to my ears. A J/P bass through the VMT would sound much better for softers
