Thank you for an in depth analysis of this intro bit! Nice to see a lesson that actually provides sheet music, tabs, explanation, analysis, playing, and different sections divided up. To top it off you don't waste time and get right into explaining. Thanks for making a lesson that isn't a drag to get through!
Great analysis. I learned the song with a Kyser Capo in the 2nd fret in “E” or (F#)because of the 1/2 step down tune. I do a basic intro hitting most of the notes. I’d rather learn 10 other songs than spend hours and hours learning this one small part. Watching your video proved that! Looks challenging getting it note for note
Excellent job!!! It's all in the timing and of the many tutorials on this particular song, yours is the only one to properly explain that. This has been a great help. Many Thanks!!!
Don't usually comment on videos, but I found this to be both extremely helpful and interesting. Your tabs were spot on and the discussion on the counting was great as well. Thanks for putting in the effort to make this video - it deserves more views!
For me travis picking is something hard. Had to stop thinking what to play but rather build muscle memory and then just let it flow without thinking what I play. Suddenly it started working. This song intro however is on another level. It has just too many irregularities and secret tricks in it. I really wonder how on earth somebody came up with the idea of playing those simple chords in such a complex way. amazing! Thanks a lot for braking it down for us
Where the hell is the one? Lol same here. Thx for the advanced lesson for us folk that are well beyond the intermediate stages of playing. Spot on brother!
I have never been able to get the intro timed right when the full band comes in. I'll be covering it again in 2 days with a band.... this was very helpful I hope I will get it down right this time! Thank you!
Enjoyed this thanks. I’m glad to hear others think that this is a ‘wonky’ intro. I just play bits of it..…and throw in bits of Beatles’ Blackbird to the tempo, before the the last note climb up to D. Audience seems to like the improv and surprise when I start singing the opening line. But I play more closely to the recording at the instr. middle break. This was very helpful…and funny. Cheers.
Had the same first thought - how do you count this? Happy to come across your video that dealt with the counting. Thank you! I also used my slow-down software and verified that your transcription is accurate.
great video m8. However i suck at reading tabs (and notes for that measure). Is it possible for you to maybe make a tutorial more in depth with the licks?
Thanks for the visit Jonatan. I'll consider that suggestion mate. It's certainly a popular tune, so you're probably not the only non-reader who would like more help with it. Cheers!
Great video the way you go measure by measure...BUT, this intro is so confusing I think it would very helpful if you would have played each section you taught together with the previous section until you got the the end where you could play it all together whole thing for reference. Thanks though! Also thanks for not making me tune down!!
Haha, thanks Rob. Hey, checked out your channel - some great stuff! Have a crack at this one, you might enjoy it - ruclips.net/video/_ZfnTtE-Q2I/видео.html
Thanks for not tuning down!!!!! Never understood changing tuning for learning purposes...such a hassle for absolutely nothing!
Some would say I was lazy, but there you go!
Had to learn this recently and felt my brain melting.
My brain still hasn't re-congealed from when I made this vid!

Thank you so much Jim! Thats great feedback mate. I'm so glad it hit the mark.

Hahaha! Yes, time could be more economically spent!

Glad I could help, Papa Dan!

Thanks so much Daniel! Really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
Nice work Woody Harrelson!
With that D string tuning phenomenon it doesn't deserve more views. Changing a string is basic guitar maintenance.

This is exactly how I felt when working it out!

Thanks G Money. Glad you liked it!

You're welcome Sam! Hope the band nailed it.

Thanks Russ. The funny thing is, when I cover this song nowadays, it just begins with the first vocal line!
@@dannyeddyguitarOk that’s a smart idea! Cheers
who would think a song named chicken fried would be so hard to learn hahahahhah. Well done on the explanation and analysis
I know right! Thanks Aidan - I'll look forward to hearing your rendition!

Thanks, Jeffrey.
Great video. BUT. Why on earth is the key signature Ab? Those accidentals are giving me killing me.
Thanks, Adam. Yes, in hindsight I should've simply written it in G.
Excellent video, thanks much.
You are very welcome, Neil!

Really nice job, dude. You laid it all out for us!
Thanks Chip. Glad you liked it.
Wow! Excellent video Daniel! Can I call you Daniel? Very much and good information in this video. Keep up the good work Mr Macchiato.
Sir please dont refer to this man as daniel; tis i the graet man of masters
Haha, thanks Indi. Thanks for the shirt.
AHAH I love the side camera shots. Great content
Thanks Anthony. Gotta have a giggle!
Gr8 video mate
Cheers Craig!

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, that wouldve been sensible! Glad you got something out of it though! Thanks for checking it out!
thanks for sticking with standard tuning!!! :-)
My laziness pays off ;)
Great work! Drove me crazy also. Not that I could play it haha.
Thanks Clint. You can do it mate!
Thank you! Very helpful.
Thanks Julie. Glad to be of service!
Same. I understood the notes but not the timing 😶
Hence, why it's often easier to write ones own song than to cover anothers.
Nice video...bar 6 also gave me the shits too! ...Lol. Very well explained.

Someone finally got it right!
Haha, thank Ste-Bow!
So listening to you tell me how hard it was for you convinced me not to even try it
Thanks
Yeah but, remember - I'm not very good! Haha
Hey Steve, we're all different and possess varying skill sets. What's hard for me may be easy for you.
@@dannyeddyguitar nah you are way better than me
My 4 year old son loves this song and calls me out when I play it wrong.
I'll let you know if he ever approves 👍
Haha love it! My 4 yo gets a bit lecturey too, if I play/sing something not to his strict standards!
@@dannyeddyguitar🥂 to young purists!
I was sad to find out the intro is not played by just one guitar. I was so ready to learn that mess of a masterpiece
Is that true?? Where did you learn that Allan?
Anyways - it can be done, just follow the steps in my vid.
11 months too late, but check out this one, i think he plays it full ruclips.net/video/Pn1Y3hj0Elw/видео.html
This would be so much easier if I could count!!!! LOL
Hahaha! Just start at 1...
0:40 wait a minute, hows he clapping 😳🍑
HAHAHAA! If only I were that talented!
hahahaha

His Travis picking is different because he started as a classical guitarist, p.I.m.a. style.
Ahh. Makes sense. Much more fluent with different plucking combinations than some of us.
Sorry Sir, but that D String is Hideous.
Hahahaaaa! I had forgotten all about that!
pick up notes...
That's it!
@@dannyeddyguitar I love your channel, you are an amazing teacher!
