Can you set up the Zone 2 Preouts for the theater bypass? I ask because I have the Denon 2700 and hoping to do the same thing but the Zone 2 is the only preouts.
The reason Outlaw labels the channels the way they do is for heat dissipation. If you are using all 5 channels or even just left and right the layout is to keep heat from building up on just one side.
@@randyhunt1581 While it works when wired different as mentioned by the video but it does matter when it warms up because heat will impact the sound quality as temperature will shift how well the amps work. The left, center, and right channels are used much more the the surround speakers so they will generate more heat than the surrounds so you want to separate them for max heat disappation.
Good and simple explanation. However I’m having trouble getting a signal from the pre-outs on my Marantz SR6013. What settings do I need to tweak in the receiver? I want to use pre-out signals for the front stage (left, right & center) but I just cannot figure out how to get the pre-out RCA terminals to light up in the ‘Amp Assign’ menu. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Really seems to me on your second amplifier that SL would be surround left an SR with the surround right and the L and the R would be for the front... ❓
So what happens when you hook it up to a 5 channel amplifier, like the Outlaw 5000? Since it only lets you pre out 2 channels to disconnect the amplifier in the AVR, do you just lose the power in the AVR from the center/surround? I'm referring to hooking up the LCR + SL, SR. I saw audioholics review and they said only the higher models lets you fully disconnect all channels to pre-out mode, but didn't explain of what happens to the other channels hooked up to an external amp. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thinking about adding a crown xti 4000 amp to run front stage from the 3600h what are your thoughts I'm using Polk S 60 S35 S15 Hts 12" sub might add electro voice T252 that have been sitting trying to get some use out of them
Need advise on a home theater set up with Denon AVR-X4800H Receiver. I cannot afford the X6800H or higher model. I want to set up 7 layer-bed surround speakers and 6 atmos height speakers using both the power amp outlets and the pre-amp outlets. So, how can I achieve a 7.4.6 system for my home theater. Thank you.
This is awesome! I just ordered my x3600h this morning and I love seeing how to videos for it. I hope you keep doing more of these videos. Maybe x3600h speaker buying guides (budget and average consumer) or top5 x3600h 2 channel external setups since the 3chan external amps cost 2much. Something like this would be great for people like me putting together their first home theater piece by piece 🤘🤘
Yes! That's how I ran my X4400H when I had a 5 channel amp for the five ear level speakers in my 5.1.4 setup. The Denon would power the height channels. You can run it in many different ways. Externally power the front three channels and have the Denon power the rest.
Just got my new Denon 3700H and my initial impression is WOW.! Haven't really set it up yet but one thing I noticed is the remote does not have many options available, compared to the Pioneer Elite receivers. To be continued...... BTW your videos are technically outstanding and really informational. I know many you-tubers try to limit the time frame on the videos but I would encourage you not to do so. Thank you.
When you factor in external amplification into a home theater setup, does the inbuilt room correction software on the AVR work as intended to provide the necessary adjustments to each channel? Or does it only work when using only the AVR?
I've read from audioholics that on the Denon 3600H only (2) channels either your front left and right or Height 2 speakers truly actually get the full benefit of an external 2channel Amp, when powering a 7.2.4 dolby atmos set up. Also that a true pre amp disconnect from the Denon x3600 reciever only happens to the front L and R channels and Height 2 speakers in that 11speaker format (7.2.4). So there is no benefit from using a 3 channel amp or 5 channel amp to really give juice to your speakers if the 3600H Reciever won't really allow this. Does this seem accurate to you, Techno Dad?
Dear Techno Dad, I did update my Home theatre as you described. I Used my old Denon amp and my Denon AVR 3600h, and it works perfectly. Now I have 7.2.4 and saved money. , Because I had 2 raws of seats now those 4 atmos channels are very helpful. Thank you again for your support. --
can you tell me how to assign front left/right to external amp or even the full 5 ground speakers. How do you chose pre out for those speakers. X3700 has a pre-out tab in speaker menu. But not the x3600h. X3600h only gives you pre-out options when setting up 11.1 speakers. (front and height only) Or is it automatic? When hooking up pre-out cables + trigger, and hooking up speakers to external amp... I am totally confused about this. Just bought a x3600 second hand. Thnx
So after a month on backorder I finally gave up on the Yamaha aventage 880 but luckily crutchfield still had this Denon 3600 in stock so I managed to talk them down in price closer to the Yamaha and should have it Friday. I’m really stoked on finally getting a modern receiver that actually surpasses my reqs.. can’t wait to get it up and running as the crown jewel of my fully revamped living room theater!
I just wanted to use an external amplifier for the L/R speakers as I wanted to have a tube amp for them in a hybrid home theater/HiFi system. How's that work?
Could you connect the AVR to two external Power Amps? Eg, one for the front speakers and another for the surrounds? If one power amp has a trigger out then that could surely turn on the second one?
Great question! It depends on the AVR and amps. if the AVR has two trigger-outs, then one can go to each amp. But, if the AVR has only one trigger out, you need to find amps that have a trigger in and a trigger out to go to the second amp.
Will any or most av receivers work with mono price whole home audio do you know. I like the functionality of keypads in the rooms of the speakers and be able to play different things in the house.
Inside the Denon receiver in the amp assign section, What setting should i use If i want to use external amplification in a 5.2 configuration? And what other changes should i set inside the receiver? It's a Denon x7200wa and a Monoprice monolith 7x.
I just purchased the Denon X3800H and planning to use the Yamaha RXV6A as an external amp for the fronts. Do I need to keep adjusting the volume for the fronts independently or does the volume automatically adjusted from the Denon?
@@eviewalla-ayala471 I'm not sure how many channels you have on the amplifier, but attaching the FL, FR is recommended, followed by the center channel. As far as connection goes, from the pre-amp out on your AVR to the inputs on the amplifier; output of the amplifier to the speaker. Hope this makes sense. Some AVRs allow you to bi amp from unused channels, such as the x4600 and new higher end AVRs. I'd recommend playing around with the speaker settings in your AVR before you invest in an amp. If you have a good AVR, I'm hoping you have good speakers to complement. Check out another video in this channel about bi-wiring and bi-amping and how to. Makes quite the difference in audio transmission qualities. Good luck and welcome to audiophile level listening and configs!
Does a seperate amplifier need to support the latest audio formats (like Dolby Atmos, DTSX, IMAX, etc), or is the seperate processor the only device that needs to support those audio formats?
Hi! The external amplifier only does one thing and that’s amplify your speakers. Your AVR or Pre/Pro will need to support the audio formats you’ve listed above.
Great video but I have a question. I have a Cambridge stereo amplifier that I run a right, left, and subwoofer through for music. I am going to use the pre-outs on the Denon to connect the right and left speakers to my home theater set up. But what do I do with the sub? I want to sub to remain hooked up to the stereo amp for music but I need it for the AVR as well. Am I going to have to switch out the cable every time I switch between movies and music?
So with this set up and I guess any other external Amp to my Marantz 6014, once connected what do I power on first to avoid and "pops" or "thuds"? Same for powering off? Thanks !!
Can I use paired connectors between the single inputs of the Parasound amp and the paired outputs of the Denon 8500? Or do I need single connectors as shown in the video?
I’m getting the monolith 9X, I really appreciate the guidance on how to connect the monolith, I have a question about the banana plugs that for the speakers already connected to my Denon receiver, can I connected them to the amp or should I use just the RCA cables?
Great video as always! Thanks a lot. I do have a question though. You are showing the physical connections here. Some configuration need to be changed on the AVR setting in speaker configuration menu. Would you please explain how you can reassign the front 2 channels to an external amp (lets say with a 2 channel amp) and use rest of the 7 channels (in a 5.1.4 setup) with this AVR's builtin amp? I read you can disconnect the internal amp completely for the front 2 channels when using pre-outs with an external amp. What is the added benefit of that separation? I just bought a X3600h and trying to see if I should add an external amp for my 5.1.4 setup mostly to give headrooms to my front 2 or 3 channels. TIA.
Thank you for your info. I've watched so many videos that you made, thank you, thank you! I'm setting up a denon 4700 to a 3 channel basx amp. Can't seem to get the config. Screen to see the center channel speaker. I see the front left and right. Am I missing something in regards to the center. Thank you
Any benefit to daisy chaining a trigger out to the external Amp and from avr through my power conditioner to turn on the external Amp? There is a 1 second delay bypassing the trigger out in the power conditioner, so it seems OK the way you set up per the video, but would like to confirm. Thanks.
Thanks for the video! Could you give me some advice? I have a Denon 1911 connected to a cheap Vivicine V6 projector with 1 HDMI. The source is a PC or TV box. The receiver is connected to multi-channel acoustics for watching movies. So watching movies and music are fine. But the soul wants to sing. I want to connect karaoke from the computer, but I also need to add a microphone, this is where the problem arises for me, I don’t know how to implement it. I guess that I need a mixer so that the music and my voice can be heard from the acoustics together, but what kind of mixer is needed and how to connect and configure it all. Can you help me with this issue? Thanks!
Im finally getting around to adding the basx A3 or the A2 with my 3600H,yeah late to the party. I am running a 5 channel setup with 2 subs and really want the A3 but from what I understand the preamps dont disconnect completely. If true which amp would make more sense?
Do i have to set something up in the avr menu ? In larger avrs like 4000er series u can disable the internal amps, but i read that this is not a good choice.
Can you add 2 amps to a denon 6700h. I was looking to ad a 3 channel for the front 3. Then down the road move my satilites from my receiver to a 4 channel amp so I can hook up height channels to the receiver. I think that model has two trigger inputs so I wasnt sure
I have a Marantz SR-7015 and SVS Ultra/Center/Sub/Prime Elevation setup. How much of a difference would adding the Monolith 9x? Does it really effect the speakers that much?
Thank you for the video! What i confused was that where the speaker cable goes?? Are the speaker cables stay connected with AVR or to the external amplifier???
I also have a sunfire grand cinema I could use. Or a few more power amps I would like to incorporate. I want to use as few of the denon channels as possible. I have a b & k st55.2, a Mitsubishi MA 5360 power Amp, a Harmon kardon citation 22, sonance 75, nht ma-1, adcom 5400, and a bunch of pro amps.. I actually just started putting this collection together in March when I bought my new house. I plan on doing a full theater downstairs and the scatmos upstairs. I also have a pair of denon avrx1200, avrx1400, but I think the 7.2.4 should be enough for what I want in this room. Just trying to figure this all out... Thanks for any help.
Can you explain using Blasters vs Triggers vs RS232 vs just a hub? I’m trying to make ease of use for others. Not much info at all on RS232 but more of home automation. 12v triggers just for powering on? Is that a constant 12vs? Blasters vs a Harmony remote? My receiver have inputs for 4 blasters but I don’t know if it could actually control the other devices well or not.
I have Denon avr-x3400h , I connected my power amp to the front channels, does it automatically disable the internal amp in the receiver. Do I have to do anything in the set up?
Hey Channa, Looking at adding an external amp to my X4500H. Money is tight, so I'm looking at the Onkyo M-5010. The Denon is rated at 125w, two channels driven. Would it be safe to say it would be around 20-30w with 9 channels driven? The Onkyo puts out 75w per channel, and I was considering connecting it to my front towers. Would you recommend that, or powering one of the sets of heights? Thanks in advance!!
What is a good receiver for mostly music...... phono FM AM..... streaming....... cds...... and something that will rock the house...... like adding an amp...... I just bought 2. Klipsch rp 280f and have a marantz mm 7025.... but my receiver isn't compatible for an external amp...... and I plan on adding more speakers later
@techno dad, if you connect an AVR to a 9 channel amp like the monolith, is there a way where you can drive 5 zones? So one home theater setup using the Denon's amp for that room and then using the preouts to send two channels per zone for 4 separate rooms in a basement? I'm pretty sure I could wire it all, but not sure what control I have over each of the channels. Any recommendations?
Hi, I have the 3600h, connected to a definitely noticed difference dynamics but volume is the same do I calibrate it different or leave it up to auddsey and I'm at 75 and still feel it needs more power
I am old school with two pioneer stereo receivers playing cd’s from a Sony 5cd/dvd changer, already connected and playing music only,I would like to integrate an amp/ equalizer combination,I should mention each receiver play their own set of speakers but is integrated to play both together, how do I connect the Amp/equalizer,
I'm considering upgrading receiver and integrating my old Celestion Dolby Surround Processor to drive a pair of rear ATMOS speakers only making it 5.1.4 Using the receiver to drive the rest of the speakers... Which ATMOS reciever can do that?
I followed this video and have connected an integrated amp to my AVR, but audio doesn't reproduce when playing media from for example, an android TV box connected via HDMI. Music via heos and records play as expected. Any ideas?
I have the new(ish) Yamaha RX-V6A which has 2 preouts (just for front L/R) so when I connect them to an external amp which if I do would be my Onkyo HT-R695 would it even be possible does it need “pre ins”? Or just the ins on it ty I have at least a couple Onkyos receivers laying around in my house so figured if possible out to use as an external amp if I can
I'm asking for help! I have exactly that AV Denon 5200w that you showed in the video and I am not happy with the sound in stereo mode. I would like the sound to be more present and defined in a quieter way of listening. The speakers I use are B&W 685 s2, 100w at 8 ohms, 87db sensitivity. What should I do: if I need to change the speakers, which ones do you recommend or get an external amplifier and which ones do you recommend? Thank you!!!
I would to set a question and advance apology if this repeat with another before. If I want config my speakers for 5.1.4 and utilize power amp for main floor speakers (left, right, center, and pair of surround) only, and height 4 speakers drive by AVR, is that can be?
Hi I am running a 9.1 speaker configuration. Mains/ center/ surround I am using a Rotel power amp. Heights Denon internal Amp Do I need to do any settings for connecting external amp . Thanks.
Hey TD, great video. I have a DENON AVR X7200W and I’d like to add a preamp into the equation. In my current configuration I’m using all 3 zones, each zone with a number of speakers, my question is, if I add a preamp, can I keep all my zones they way they are? And would I be able to keep controlling the receiver through the DENON app (i.e volume etc.)
Hi Techno Dad dumb question but in your first set up with just the two left and right RCA in the amp using the same exact Dennon receiver. The speakers go into the amp or the receiver?
I plan to get a Denon XH3700 and pair it with a Outlaw 5 channel amp. I will have some SVS dipole speakers and I think that should give me a 7.2.4 setup I think (noob here so not sure 😁)..I also believe the Subs have their own in built Amps so if I understand this correctly I should power the Front , Center and Right via the Amp. The 4 Atmos can be powers by the AV. But then how do I handle the dipoles? Is just hooking these up as standard Right rear and Left Rear surrounds via the Amp ok? Will that work?
I just bought Marantz NR1510 which is 5x50W that has front L/R preouts (not zone). Question if I add 125w external only for FL/FR and when audacity / room corrections does it calibrate FL/FR level to 50w?!?
Hi Jordon, great question! Audyssey should take into account the extra power from the external amp and try to make the sound balanced. When you do have big dynamic shifts in your content, you should experience more power and headroom from the external amp.
Great video as always. I want to add an external amp to my yamaha a880 but it has no setting for pre-amp assign or something similar. Only a trigger function. My question is, if I go with an external like the outlaw, will I be able to control volume with the yamaha? Thanks and keep up the great work!
TD, when you take the fronts and center off the main receiver power supply to a external power amp to the left over speakers receive more power than normal on my AV receiver? Thanks
On THIS Denon AVR X3600H can I connect an external 2 ch amp to pre out Front L & R , then use the denon for the other 9 channels ie center , surround L & R , Rear L & R, height 1 L & R, height 2 L and R ?
So I have a Yamaha V-779 and I have an external amp connected to zone 2 preouts. Am I able to add an additional amp to zone 2 preouts? If so, how? Thank You in advance
Would you not recommend doing it even if your integrated stereo amp as a dedicated power-only input and power-only mode? Is your a general advice or only for integrated amps that haven't this possibility?
Is there a subwoofer input on the amp or do you run the sub through the AVR. And if so doesn't the higher output going through the speakers cause the subwoofer to play lower because your playing the AVR at a lower volume even though the speakers are louder because of the power amp
Thanks for this video. My mother just bought a 3600 and I'm helping her to configure it. She has a 5.1.4 with ceiling Atmos speakers. She also has 2 Speakers for zone 2. Is there any way to make Zone 2 and Main zone with 5.1.4 work without using an external Amp? If not, which budget Amp do you recommend to power just the 2 speakers of zone 2?
Hi I have a pioneer vsx-1021k av receiver but there is no trigger out at the back and the only pre-out is just the sub. What should l do Sir and how to connect to the power amplifier? Thanks..
X3700r it seems to me to get higher volume i have to increase to 65 or 75 on the dial. Its not blowing the windows out but could be a little louder. Is the normal coming from a sonos bar. My other question is can i use the sonos amp as a preamp to the the 11th channels. Help i new at this
Suppose Avr3600h setup is done for 7.2.4 channel by using a pre amp for 2 channels power. Will AVR 3600 gives all sound modes like dts x, atmos etc. or simply "All channel " mode?
I was initially planning on a 5.2.4 HT but changed it to 7.2.4. I bought the 3600h but am short of two channels. Can I add one of these amps to my AVR instead of purchasing a brand new receiver? I have the Def Tech BP 9080x towers for L&R, CS9080 Center, SR9080 for side surrounds, DT8LCR for back surrounds and 4 8 inch Sonance height speakers. TIA
Hi, I have a 7 channel Outlaw power amp to connect to the Denon 3700h. This video seems to say it's possible to hook up 7 channels and then use the Denon for the heights. In another video with Shane Lee you said it's all or nothing. I'm confused and now sitting with a big block (the ext amp)on the floor. Please elaborate . Thanks, Dave
Hi Dave! Great question and sorry for the confusion. You are 100% correct. You can use your Outlaw amp to power 7 speakers and use the Denon’s internal amps to power the height channels. What I was talking about is called “pre-amp mode” which will turn off all internal amplifiers and then you will need to externally power all speakers. Hope this clears things up!
@@TechnoDad thanks for the fast answer. Now I understand. Glad to hear I didn’t have to buy a second amp. Enjoy your channel. Bit the SVS height speakers from your recommendation. They sound great. Thanks.
You explained this very well. I'm using an Denon DRA-800H AVR and a Emotiva BasX A2 power amp. Using Preouts on Zone 2 (on AVR no other preouts) into the BasX. One thing I noticed is the sound is flat compared to speakers connected to the AVR (DRA-800H). Is this because the preout cleans up any sound processing that happens within the receiver? If so how can I go about getting that big sound into my power amp? thanks to you or anyone who can help answer my q's.
Thanks for watching! I don’t think that behavior is due to the processing. Some say the amp has a sound signature all on its own. So maybe you are hearing the differences between the 800H and the BasX? I’m not sure as I don’t usually notice those kinds of differences.
Hi, if i'm using Basx500 with 4600H for a 7.2 setup, the remaining 2 channels i should use the speaker out from 4600H, so does it mean I will get a better 125W (80 from basX500) output from the avr speaker out ? So that its better to drive the front left and right with avr out ?
@Techno Dad - I dont see my previous post so let me ask this again. I recently bought a x3600h and want to run it in 11.2 mode. I bought a 2 Channel Sony STR-DH190 and plan to connect my front preouts to the Sony to drive my FL and FR Pioneer Towers. I dont have a trigger cable and I was hoping to keep the power and volume in sync using the Harmony Smart Hub Remote. Any tips on how I can calibrate the sound ? I was hoping to use my phone as a sound meter , play music in multi channel stereo mode, note and adjust the volumes for the sony. Once I have the reference volume I can add that volume level as a step whenever I turn my amp on/off. Do you think that will work ? Also does the x3600H have variable pre outs ? Appreciate your inputs.
What is the most affordable Denon AVR that has what you need to hook up an amp. My Denon doesnt have those rca jacks nor does it have trigger jacks. I love my 730H shes been a great receiver but I can only do so much with her....I guess my new upgrade willl start with a new AVR and AMP but am stil on the fence about that. DOes it make that much of a difference? The 1000s of dollars needed to get that sound?
Can you tell me if the speaker wires have to be connected to the amplifier to get the power from the amplifier or can they be connected to the av receiver getting power from the pre outs?
Is it ok to put the receiver on the amp like that? Or vice versa? Just wondering as I just bought an x3700h with a 3 channel emotive bas x amp and would like to stack
@Techno Dad - I know you mentioned it earlier in the video, but the manual (to my knowledge) didn't explicitly mention it, it only ever mentions adding a 2 channel amp to enable 11.x, or attaching amps to all the pre-outs for up to 11.x ... so is it confirmed for 11.x (7.1.4) we can simply add a 2 to or more channel amp to the appropriate pre-outs and have the AVR handle the rest?. ie a 7 channel external amp for the floor speakers, and have the AVR handle the 4 height speakers? thank you.
I’m thankful for Denon preamp mode, but why has “pre-out - rca jumper - main-in” been abandoned? That’s the best preamp mode money can buy. And it’s most customizable.
If I add external amplifier for my left and right front speakers, do I have to change anything in the receiver settings? I have the 3600 but I get confused with the amp assign. And if I want to run 7.1.4 but have the external amplifier hooked up to my front LR speakers, how do I change that. Because in the manual it just says you can hook up an external amplifier to the height 2 pre outs for 11 Channel. I've never used pre outs or external amplifiers before so sorry if I'm such a newbie
I have a question to start using a separate power amp. When i use it can the eq setting be applied? Coz it is out put thru rca preout. The manual eq settings. I always use my personal eq setting
Hi, if you use an external amp for the LCR speakers, but not the rest, does that still benefit the AVRs performance, or do you really need to go all pre-amp mode to get the benefit?
can the AVR-X3600H handle Klipsch RP-404C center channel with 125w continuous? I get that it's only 105W per channel so the answer should be obvious it's just this is the only speaker i have that needs more than 105W so i'd hate to buy an amplifier just for it.
I cannot find this answer anywhere. I had recently painted my wall behind my TV and setup my speakers and amp to my AVR and my left rear height speaker has both the left and right sound coming out of it at the same time and my right rear height speaker works properly. I set everything up exactly the same as before.
If I wanna connect the height and ceiling speakers to a speaker switch (1 for Atmos and the other for Auro3D) via a Denon AVR and an external amp. How to go about doing this?
Love the video, I was wondering if I connect a blusound node2I if I should run it through the AVR or to the integrated amp powering the fronts? Because I do still like to see the display for the music stuff
If you have active XLR monitors like a Genelec 5.1 monitor system, do you still need the monolith 9x? Or can you go directly from the pre outs on the Denon to the Genelec XLRs? Great video by the way! Thanks for the info! Really helpful. 👍
I bought 3x Focal Aria 906 for my LCR, and a pair of Chorus 706 for surrounds. I want to go 5.2.4, I have 2x SVS PB1000, and want to buy 4x Polk OWM3 for ceiling Atmos. I was thinking of just getting a Denon 4500 to finish the setup but lately I'm not sure if that's optimal? What would you recommend I purchase to finish off this setup?
Can you set up the Zone 2 Preouts for the theater bypass? I ask because I have the Denon 2700 and hoping to do the same thing but the Zone 2 is the only preouts.

The reason Outlaw labels the channels the way they do is for heat dissipation. If you are using all 5 channels or even just left and right the layout is to keep heat from building up on just one side.
That makes so much more sense!! Thanks for that Sean!

Yes! That's how I ran my X4400H when I had a 5 channel amp for the five ear level speakers in my 5.1.4 setup. The Denon would power the height channels. You can run it in many different ways. Externally power the front three channels and have the Denon power the rest.

Thank you.
Why would you need to amplify Denon receiver? More power or limitations on the receiver ?

Awesome to hear! Enjoy!
can you tell me how to assign front left/right to external amp or even the full 5 ground speakers. How do you chose pre out for those speakers.
X3700 has a pre-out tab in speaker menu. But not the x3600h.
X3600h only gives you pre-out options when setting up 11.1 speakers. (front and height only)
Or is it automatic? When hooking up pre-out cables + trigger, and hooking up speakers to external amp...
I am totally confused about this. Just bought a x3600 second hand.
Thnx
So after a month on backorder I finally gave up on the Yamaha aventage 880 but luckily crutchfield still had this Denon 3600 in stock so I managed to talk them down in price closer to the Yamaha and should have it Friday. I’m really stoked on finally getting a modern receiver that actually surpasses my reqs.. can’t wait to get it up and running as the crown jewel of my fully revamped living room theater!
great video! thank you! quick question: is it possible to connect two 3-channel amps to one AV receiver to power 6 channels?
Why wasn't the banana plug outputs used for both outlaw and monoliath amps?
You can use banana plugs on those amps. The binding posts just look different.
Could you please advise how to connect Onkyo TX NR646 AVR to NAD C372 stereo integrated amplifier.
I have the x4500, my question is if I use a external amp to which one do I attach the speaker wire ,the amp or receiver ?
That is my question, I can't seem to find the answer! Do we hook speaker wire to amp?
Can you connect a tube amp for turntable listening the same way?
I'm trying to figure out the best way to setup as well. Maybe zone 2? Please let me know what you learn.
@@TechnoDad thanks for answering!
You’re very welcome!
I'm assuming that for the subwoofer you just use the subwoofer out on the AV receiver correct?
So with this set up and I guess any other external Amp to my Marantz 6014, once connected what do I power on first to avoid and "pops" or "thuds"? Same for powering off? Thanks !!
Hi i recently bought a new avr. It's a Denon avc-x4700h. Now i want to add a pre amplifier. Which one is the best for this avr? Thank you.
TIA.
I’ve read that u have to the switch amp assign to 11.1 and select the front speakers for pre out and rear height as so.
Connect the speakers to the amplifier. At least, connect the speakers you want to externally power.
@@TechnoDad Thank you!
Hey Channa,
Looking at adding an external amp to my X4500H.
You can re calibrate if you want. However, if you do this, you will still turn up the volume to the same amount if your volume level is in dB.

I have the new(ish) Yamaha RX-V6A which has 2 preouts (just for front L/R) so when I connect them to an external amp which if I do would be my Onkyo HT-R695 would it even be possible does it need “pre ins”? Or just the ins on it ty
I have at least a couple Onkyos receivers laying around in my house so figured if possible out to use as an external amp if I can

Hello again, Chuck. I use the Mogami Studio Gold RCAs which are a little pricey, but not super pricey - amzn.to/3ikOhdn
Hi
I am running a 9.1 speaker configuration.
Mains/ center/ surround I am using a Rotel power amp.
Heights Denon internal Amp
Do I need to do any settings for connecting external amp .
Yes, you can. The Outlaw will be at full volume pretty much, so whatever your AVR volume is, the Outlaw will be at that volume.
I would like to run my Sony ta n9000es for my lcr off my denon avrx 4500. I just can't figure out how to turn on the rca for this to happen.
TD, when you take the fronts and center off the main receiver power supply to a external power amp to the left over speakers receive more power than normal on my AV receiver? Thanks
I would assume it does, but there's no way to shut off the speakers that aren't running on the AVR except the front mains.
With that set up there can I do a 7.1.4 atmos ceiling speakers?
Help here @Techno Dad
Hi I have a pioneer vsx-1021k av receiver but there is no trigger out at the back and the only pre-out is just the sub.
What should l do Sir and how to connect to the power amplifier? Thanks..
X3700r it seems to me to get higher volume i have to increase to 65 or 75 on the dial. Its not blowing the windows out but could be a little louder. Is the normal coming from a sonos bar. My other question is can i use the sonos amp as a preamp to the the 11th channels. Help i new at this
easy for the people who deal with audio but I am sure this will be very helpful for someone who is just starting to learn!

@@TechnoDad can you help, how do i get ht passthrough from a denon x3300h to a stereo pre amp?
TIA
pre out assignment is same as pre amp mode ? As you know new denons can be converted to pure pre amp with this feature. I'm wondering if 3600 has it .
Hi! No, it’s different. Pre-amp mode turns off all internal amps in the new AVRs. The X3600H does not have this option.
@P T Thanks researching new subs now HSU Research seems like the best bang for the buck or Monolith..They're reallly giving SVS a fit
Can you tell me if the speaker wires have to be connected to the amplifier to get the power from the amplifier or can they be connected to the av receiver getting power from the pre outs?
Hello Tai, they need to be connected to the external amp.
I have an AVR x1600h (I know highly underpowered). I want to ask if the Zone 2 pre out can be used to add additional channel for Dolby.
Hi! Unfortunately, you will need a 9 channel AVR, which would be the X3600H or the newer X3700H.
@@TechnoDad Oh sure. Since I had purchased it newly, will try to get a good deal or will stay with this one for sometime.
I always use my personal eq setting
yes
@@junior-OG thank u.
Thanks for answering Junior!!
Please explain Trigger cable purpose .
Thank you and cheers from San Francisco.
Fabian V. When you turn on the receiver, the amp will turn on also so that the speakers connected to it will then work
Hi, if you use an external amp for the LCR speakers, but not the rest, does that still benefit the AVRs performance, or do you really need to go all pre-amp mode to get the benefit?
It should help a lot. The LCR take up most of the power.
can the AVR-X3600H handle Klipsch RP-404C center channel with 125w continuous? I get that it's only 105W per channel so the answer should be obvious it's just this is the only speaker i have that needs more than 105W so i'd hate to buy an amplifier just for it.
I cannot find this answer anywhere. I had recently painted my wall behind my TV and setup my speakers and amp to my AVR and my left rear height speaker has both the left and right sound coming out of it at the same time and my right rear height speaker works properly. I set everything up exactly the same as before.
do the equaliser setting in the receiver still come into play or is that not passed through?
I believe it can be engaged.
Hello Techno Dad
I have a DENON X2300W-r receiver and it only shows a pre-out for the subs. Does that mean I cannot amplify the other speakers?
John
Hello John, that's correct. You cannot externally power your speakers with that specific AVR.
If I wanna connect the height and ceiling speakers to a speaker switch (1 for Atmos and the other for Auro3D) via a Denon AVR and an external amp. How to go about doing this?
You would need the Denon X4500H or above for Auro 3D, in which case you would use Subwoofer 2 pre out for VOG channel.
Love the video, I was wondering if I connect a blusound node2I if I should run it through the AVR or to the integrated amp powering the fronts? Because I do still like to see the display for the music stuff
TheWidowMaker yeah! I want to know this too.
Can I use a car 4 channel amplifier for the four ceiling speakers? Example., Sony XM-N1004 in-Car Amplifier
Yeah, that should work.
