It's true that there isn't much difference compared to the iPhone 15, but I think it's worth waiting for the iPhone 16 Pro Max and switching. Just for the 4K at 120 frames per second, it's worth it-plus, let's not forget that all of this is in HDR, and the video quality we know from Apple is top-notch. The differences may be minimal, but they're worth it.
I stopped watching right there..at minute 1:23 No one will notice a difference between an iPhone and a professional mirror less camera?? 🤦🏻♂ I subscribed because I thought you were one of the few honest RUclipsr but .... There is 1 honest guy called Tony with over 1M subscribers that told the true about the new iPhone 16 for film making and videography and he proved that you can't trust the specs. Now before every iPhone filmmaker fanboy comment below my comment they should watch Tony's video about the iPhone 16 Pro Max. I'm out.. unsubscribed
Affordable my arse! You need atleast 256GB of storage and that's at least 1200 euros for now! Maybe next autum will be cheaper. And for that you still get worse image quality then a APSC type sensor camera... even an MFT! Not saying that the 16 Pro isn't good, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Great review Jason. Many thanks. Regarding small compact P&S cameras, this is where fashion and ‘what is old is new again’ make things complicated. My teenage daughter loves my 12MP 2011 Fujifilm X10 and more recently 5MP Canon powershot A450! The former is very pricey. For her it is about getting images which are different and unique rather than ‘better’ SOOC.
Man, so many great filmmaking tools released today. The iPhone 16 Pro, AND the Canon C80??? Who’s idea was this? Now I have to watch 2x the RUclips content 😅
Nice explaination. Some valid points . Funny you say those who cant afford expensive mirrorless cameras can buy this one . But this is more than expensive of some of the mirrorless cameras . For that same price we can get very good mirrorless camera in the used market . But imho phones will not match cameras anyday for pro workflows .
Yeah I agree. But forgetting about lenses, memory cards and other accessories needed to. When people purchase this it’s not just for filmmaking but also every day use. Far more complex than just a camera
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema yeah .for normal users many would go for non pro or promax versions as they are cheaper i guess. Dji osmo pocket is much better than these cameras because it has quality than these phone footage and has gimbal and also nobody notices it even when we are at very complex environments. Keep more filmmaking related videos coming jason like lighting setups and all
Most people probably have an iPhone they could trade in that’ll keep the cost pretty low relatively speaking to a new camera, lens, SD cards, etc (also depends on the kind of work you’re doing)
you missed the bigger part did not cover its display feature of it the display is 2000 nits Dolby Vision HDR and for this price inbuilt you can't see any display above 400nits in any market with price of $1000 and top of it Davinci resolve gives live feed to iPhone form cloud account where we can grade our footage in HDR. And the other feature which is recording audio while telling the phone what kind of video you shoot in cinematic audio it mixes all together so no hard for mixing sound recording or dubbing no foley just keep the background score SFX and you're good to go. it's like 1 can finish a 5min short film in a day without extra team or effort.
I am sure hardware coming from Xiaomi & Vivo x ultra lines will rival or best the iphone 16....on the Software side honestly Appe has nailed this - Yes camera manufacturers need to get back on the ball & create something cool for $1000 or less
With the constant evolution of the iPhone camera system, the future of filmmaking is here. Hollywood filmmakers like Steven Soderbergh proved that several iterations of the iPhone ago. I’m excited about it because the days of buying a $3000 camera w/o a lens are coming to an end. Unless it’s just something someone wants to do. You made a lot of great points. Thanks for the video.
There’s no comparison between my fx3 footage and what my iPhone puts out. Sure I’ve integrated iPhone footage and have even made short films with it but the footage no way compares or can it remotely do the type of cinematic filming I get from my Sony. No way.
I can believe that. You shouldn’t expect anything less from a $3700 camera with no lens. Anything less would be a huge disappointment. It’s just difficult for me to fathom spending that kind of money though when there are Hollywood films out there made with an iPhone 6. Once Hollywood fully embraces mobile filmmaking, which is going to happen, because they can save tons of money, there’s going to be a major shift in the industry. Major.
@@JLJ2 no hollywood studio will use iphone or any phone for that matter to film their stuff with an phone unless they getting paid for by the phone company to do it as an ad. the quality on the small sensor just night and day compare to a camera, even if the camera is 10 years old it still takes better photos than an brand new iphone or pixel
Why don't all the smartphone geniuses get us a small selfie screen like the action cameras have? That and built in batteries are the 2 reasons I don't want a 'premium' smartphone.
The 48mp ultra wide is necessary. The 4k120 is a nice addition. Can you do 4k120 in Apple Log still? I wanna see even more improvement on stabilization. But ultimately....it'll be more worth it once all 3 cameras are 48mp cameras and they upgrade the sensor. Then we'll be cooking.
Will you be getting the iPhone 16 or 16pro? Let me know your thoughts

Still using my osmo pocket 1. It's a gamechanger.
I love my pocke 1. Am buying a NOS one from Japan. I don't want the 2 or 3.
The question is: would you show up to a shoot with an iPhone? 😂
For realestate where you’re given the keys to the house and no one knows what camera you’re using, sure
give it up. filmaking belongs to iphone now cameras are old

why even type canon C80? iphone is obviously better than that boomer

Check out the IRE5 cases - they include 1TB microSDs build into the case, no need for bulky ssd setups. Hectic minimal setup for log shooting 👌
Not for the 16!
I’m a beginner and was gonna get the 16 pro and a r50 canon with the standard lens kit. Is that overkill?
I would suggest to use your current phone and keep the money for professional training.
@@simon_sky thank you Simon
So it’s the same as the iPhone 15 when it comes to log?
Jason, Sony dropped Shutter Angle this morning for Fx3 and the Fx30!!!

They don’t have pro-res log. Apple owns any phone video camera that doesn’t have this. It completely changes everything
Soooo are you adding Raygun to your documentary?
Only the 48MP claim is smoke. Comparative to a 6MP point-and-shoot camera. Just sayin

Which ones? Many have a lot of hardware requirements.
A lot is hardware like cameras, audio and the new processor
Won’t be buying the 16. I’m goood lol
Yeah probably same as most
ok debbie downer way to rain on his parade, i think this video is super cool!
