DISCLAIMER: The comments section seems to be pretty polarized on whether or not to support Chanmi. I just wanted to emphasize the fact that my video isn't meant to persuade you to like or dislike Chanmi. I don't know if the bullying accusations are true, I don't know if she was evil edited on Produce 101, and frankly, I don't have a stance on her personality (aside from the fact that she is hella persistent!). I simply found the story of her career absolutely intriguing which is why I decided to cover it in what I thought was a pretty light-hearted and neutral way. Quick question, If you were in Chanmi's position, would you have given up? Or would you have continued pursuing a career in the KPOP industry?
Maybe they meant she was too young for SNSD, not too young in general. They debuted BoA who was 13 and Changmin who was 15, so they have debuted young people before Chanmi
It’s so sad. She trained with some of the most famous idols in the industry and still couldn’t seem to make it, and it didn’t come from her lack of work ethic because she seemed to work very hard and be genuinely talented.
Yeh and a bully- Like how do we not know if those bullying rumors were true or not. I ain’t supporting a fucking bully- Like yeh she’s talented and that girl can sing but it’s disgusting she may bullied people-
@@lxlx7941 you also have to consider t-ara's situation though where multiple members were accused of bullying when they didn't do anything wrong. actually considering that hyoyoung was in co-ed/5dolls, it wouldn't surprise me AT ALL if she was the one who spread the rumors about chanmi and eunkyo when she was actually the one bullying to draw attention away from herself.
@@mahigangwar1246 chanmi participate in a survival program called produce 101 season 1. back then mnet used their editing to make it seems like she's the reason her group member cry or loss, etc results in her image as a bad guy and she got lots of hate bcs of it.
The most unluckiest part was when she sat on the cursed chair (survival show chair) because it was rumored whoever sat in that chair there career didn't succeed
SM isn't counted, their trainees don't have debt because when those trainees debut that training fee is deducted from their salary. And if certain trainees leave their training fee is deducted from their seniors' income.
I hate how when she's 20 years old and they're like "she's too old" like no, she's at the appropriate age to work in the entertainment industry. I think its disgusting that the Kpop Idol industry is so heavily interested in extremely young kids who can't even make decisions for themselves (& thats how they get into these slave contracts). Rooting for her! Would love to see you do a video on 2NE1, Minzy. Had YG supported Minzy's dance as much as they support Lisa, she wouldn't had left. Such shame.
omg minzy!!! she was a dance goddess!!! i remember watching a compilation of her freestyle and her popping!!!! the industry is bloody OBSESSED with pretty faces, it's the most important factor. i think minzy looks very chic but yg has shown that he wants pretty doll like faces like blackpink's. he said something similar to CL on his show mix9 or smth
But slave contract isn't a thing now. As a trainee they get 1yr, 3yr , 5yr contract. So according to ur convince and from parents permission you signed it. For idols, after a famous idol grp who actually was under slave contract filed against it, which they won. Many changes were made and finally 7yr contract was made. So now no company can hv slave contract anymore.
She was too young for SNSD's group image. They didn't want anyone younger than 16 probably because of their concept. Like SM's girl group aespa that just debuted...their maknae is 18. They probably aren't debuting any younger girls because of the outfits and concept would be inappropriate. This is just a rumor and not confirmed but I heard SM might debut more members later on...my guess is that if there are other members, they are too young to debut in Aespa. I don't think that is the only reason though because they did debut Yeri in RV a year after the group's actual debut. My guess is that her age was part of it but there also must have been another reason.
@@mistid1485 they didn't debut yeri at the same time as the other girls did because of a korea law that was going on in 2014 and since there were some sm scandals they rushed rv's debut to move the attention, i think they should've waited for yeri but who cares, it was 6 years ago
All members of The Ark are equally cursed, every group they tried debuting in afterwards disbanded. Real Girls Project, DAYDAY, Khan, and Uni.T, what a shame :/ Euna Kim is a missionary now so I think she gave up on the idol life :/ the industry is so tough, I hope they are all happy with what they are doing now
I think that Drip was not only one of the best debuts of 2019, it was also simply one of the best songs of the year and Hinapia as a group was everything I could dream of. So I'm really angry at the kpop community for ignoring them and passively making them disband :(
@@Raphael-2 not only that, their company is super small and due to the pandemic, their company is hit harder and apparently their office had to close down...
@@snoopygalaxyy so apparently having a successfull hit is not enough to keep a small company and a small girl group afloat for a few months... nobody bought the album? something in this K-Pop industry is really at odds.
A comment further down explained more of it, but I want to link it here for more visibility. Here is proof of her being racist/anti-black twitter.com/piedisgiri/status/821425788599828482?s=21 There is no excuse for this type of behavior :/
theprplzebra i- so just because she liked ONE racist comment (she likes every comment she gets btw,,) she doesnt deserve a career, even after training for SIXTEEN years? 16 fucking years wasted just because that one little thing? aight. cancel culture is fucking stupid
@@theprplzebra She liked a comment that someone else made. She also did not speak or read English well at this time and a lot of people in other countries do not get a lot of American racial slurs. Once she found out about it she probably felt badly and since then she has yet to do the same. One slip from a non-English speaker does not mean she is a racists. I am sure everyone on this planet has made a mistake like this without realizing it.
@@molly5546 It’s not cancel culture lol. It’s something personally concerning to a lot of people. Do you have proof of her liking every comment on her Instagram page? Also I never said anything about whether she deserves a career, just that people should be aware of everything that she’s done before blindly supporting her
chanmi is probably the start/ the first victim of the 'curse seat' in produce series 💀 for those who's wondering, there's a first place seat that you think you'll get before the first class distribution according to your performance in pd. in all 4 season, every person that sit in that seat got evil editing by mnet or just stuck with false bad rumor resulting them being eliminated or kicked out of show. chanmi got evil editing a lot by mnet it's so fcked up 😭
Yeah that first seat is cursed. Whoever ends up in that #1 seat during that first filming day when all the contestants meet for the first time and the mentors walk in, that trainee doesn't even make it to the finale. And I noticed every season, the trainee sitting in that seat gets eliminated earlier. Chanmi > ranked 26th, Jang Moonbok > 27th, Park Seyoung > Ranked 55th> Yoon Seobin > left after the first episode.
I dont remember the guys name but I think it was at produce 101 and this guy sat at the first seat when they were all meeting for the first time and I heard he got kicked from jyp or something.
Honestly I think we need to talk about The Ark girls, who had such potential, with two of the members (Euna & Minju) becoming KHAN who also disbanded 😓
Omg please they were and still are my fave girl group, they were so unique and had so much swag, I really miss them :( there will never be a girl group like them
Sadly I think it’s about looks. Sadly Chanmi never fits the ideal kpop look that these companies went for. I think she would have fit in with Girls Generation look cause back then they were a bit more tan. Chanmi has glown up but sadly now she’s told old for the kpop industry which really sucks cause she’s a talented person.
It is alot about looks, a k pop company debuted the prettiest girls instead of the most talented. A trainee was told that she was too ugly to be debuted.
It’s looks and most likely personality too. Her bullying scandal was never disproven, just swept under the rug. There’s a reason she didn’t succeed, it’s not based on luck.
What if she’s actually the luckiest cause she escaped every single group she was in cause they all ended in a bad way.... woah (Not all of them but I think you get what I’m saying)
It's sad that many idols work hard and train for harsh periods of time, finally debut in a group and then disband due to lack of success and recognition :(
With her story and experience, she deserves to be a judge of a survival show tbh like at this point. And not only that but her dancing and singing is all very polished. She's most likely be one of the scarier ones but I mean, all survival show judges in Korea are pretty scary.
They only choose judges who have experience with a successful career. Sure she can sing and dance but she has limited experience as an idol and can not give advice for that. Her groups never lasted long and it makes no sense for someone who’s career was mostly unsuccessful to be a judge
@@AGPostarStudios I mean yeah, her career was short-lived so far but in terms of talent, I think she is gonna do a good job of training the trainees to the best that they can be. And also, she may have been currently unsuccessful, it doesn't mean she doesn't have anything to contribute to the table, especially seeing as she has been sticking around for 10 years I'm sure she also has great advice to share.
@@shunuuu true but we also forget the kpop industry or really all of pop isn’t just about talent. In face being extremely talented isn’t enough. Personality, in a lot of cases looks, how you fit well with a concept or group, are all equally if not more important than being able to sing or dance well. It’s why some of the most popular idols or pop artists are average at singing and dancing, it’s their charisma+looks and sometimes that can’t be taught. You have to have an eye for that kinda of star quality and it’s hard when ur not very charismatic she might unconsciously favor ppl who are yes talented but lack charisma bc she might see herself in it.
@@AGPostarStudios very well said! you spoke on the truth of how the entertainment business works. i really wonder what makes up star quality though. there are tons of gorgeous top 1% level of beauty people out there to choose from, yet they're passed over bc they don't have the 'star quality'. what are you thoughts?
Chanmi probably doesn't know how to give up anymore, not in the equation. On a Happy Together episode, Solji said she had made 20 albums or something before she was in EXID. There's no time limit on a goal or dream. Or if there is, only Chanmi alone knows when that will be. I find her inspiring.
Not trying to be rude, but if she was part of gg, gg might not be as successful as they are. One extra/less member or different member can make great difference in success of the group.
@@doctordoofenshmirtz1870 they can cut out words which can twist the sentence. Ex: “she’s a great dancer but she needs to work on her facial expressions” after someone editing it: “she needs to work on her facial expressions”. They can make the person sound arrogant and rude.
Chanmi is literally my queen, I was just watching her solo stage again 😔 she's braver than me, I would've given up years ago if I were her but she kept trying since 2009 and more to succeed and be well known and respected. Mnet's evil editing made her same arrogant and untalented when she really isn't, she deserves some respect honestly.
@@superstargame291 yeah but a lot of people saw the like, it was not fake. I really hope she changed but it's only up for black people to decide if it's forgivable or not
Fun fact about the ugly/evil looking babies in historical art: most babies that were painted historically were supposed to be depictions of Baby Jesus. Because there was the idea that Jesus was born “perfectly formed and unchanged,” artists tried to portray this in their art! That’s why the babies look like ugly old men 😌 Lol that aside, great video as always!! ❤️
Other unlucky idols are the GLAM members, they were under Big Hit and they were so talented. If the scandal had not happened, they have become the BTS sister group.
0:55 That's the thing. People always say "If they worked harder they would be more successful", but they don’t take into consideration that luck also plays a part. What are they supposed to do, work 20 hours per day?
Another great contender for the unluckiest idol is Jinsil (member of Blastar and former member of GI, AGirls, HEXE and Various [in some of these groups she was known as Heeso though]) for sure. She also choreographed some of PinkFantasy's dances
The fact that she was taken out of so many lineups seemingly for no reason, makes me wonder if it was her personality that was the problem. Idk her personally so obviously i cant know for sure. But GG did debut Kristal who is the same age. And there wasnt any good reasons for the other groups either. The fact that she has a big bullying scandal doesnt mean its forsure true, but it would make sense.
I think is maybe the rumor scandals that are still behind her (even if these are false because SooMi (the supposed victim) and ChanMi are still in contact with each other, and follow and, sometimes, comment each other posts). Bully can ruin someone's career, even if these are false.
@@user-jg5vu1cl8b i dont doubt that at all. But after some time and it has died down. I really doubt a company would kick someone out over old rumors that have already died down. Who knows maybe its not her and shes just unlucky. Idk her so i cant say for sure. Just an idea
As a young adult in her mid 20s, can we have a group, that debuts in their mid 20s consisting of those, who still struggle in the industry. I would love that, since nowadays i don't really feel so much connected to the new groups, they are all very young.
I’m definitely here for it I’ve been into kpop since I was 8 in 2008 now that I’m 20 I feel like I’m outgrowing it but I remember back in the day there were a lot of groups who were older with more mature concepts what happened 😭
Do you know there is as idol group in japan The concept is debt. All the members have debt in various form and struggling to repay them. A cool concept and I'd support that kind of thing
I would love to see that too! I am 25 now but when I got into kpop at 12 there were groups with mature concepts like 2ne1 and brown eyed girls and still have the "kpop" image and not more westernized like a bit of what's the industry's like now . Also I miss T-ara , Davichi , and ftislands's concepts in new groups
I will always, always love the group that had only one debut song and then were forced to disband by their label, a label criminally blind to what an incredible group they _already were_ and what a big hole in the market they could've filled with them. And that group is The Ark, who debuted and disbanded in 2015 and STILL mention their group and before one of the members moved out of Korea they also regularly met. Even did a cover of Love Scenario together. I love each of the members, they've gone through a lot. I don't know much about Halla but the other four have been trying for a looong time.
@@sophilicity yeah :/ I now follow them on Instagram, since recently. Yujin is going on a show that gives artists a second chance, they already had some live conference about it. (I didn't see it, I don't know how.) Also Jane, Yujin and I forgot who else have youtube channels.
@@sophilicity literally me. a few months ago i got The Ark in my "songs for you" playlist on spotify and i liked them but then i found out they disbanded...then i found khan and found out they disbanded too. very unfortunate....
She is talented, however as we've seen it also takes luck, timing and many other factors. It is sad tho how some do train, do not debut and because of their years spent focusing on that one thing, they end up feeling like a failure when they have no other skills. It is a hard industry. On another hand, it's stupid how she's considered old. Kahi debuted late and became big. Chanmis not my cup of tea but I do hope she makes it.
Okay but can we take her as a good luck fairy, because for every group she was supposed to debut in, they became successful. Its like she blessed them.
Im actually thinking If Psy could get her to join them I feel really bad for her She is really talented and she is really determined to be a singer🥺 But she is already under an agency
This is actually motivating. Never ever give up on your dreams no matter what people think even if there are obstacles your way just move ahead and achieve them.
She's better than me cause if I had almost been a member of SNSD and then messed up Into the New World on national TV I would've just dropped off the Earth at that point. Good on her for being brave and tenacious enough to keep going.
*Fun fact about the weird looking babies in those paintings* : At the time the only art that could be commissioned had to be approved by the church, they believed jesus was born as an adult hence baby body adult face, because artists wanted to get their work out they made all babies look like that so people would actually want them. Edit: spelling

Her solo was really good so I looked up for her and found she missed soo many great chances to debut and was also in mixnine tooo even tho I didn't knw ppl call her unlucky I myself thought that luck was never in her way even if she is talented... THAT'S SAD ://
you should made a video about kim dani , she's also one of the contestant of produce 101 along with chanmi , known as "the dark horse trainee", she's from MBK , she was almost a member of T-ara N4(?) and almost become the member of DIA but she's not making through the final line debut because she doesn't fit with DIA's concept. She was also featured with 5-dolls with song called "do you love me?". Things that i've been noticed about kim dani was she's friend with lots of foreigner kpop idol such as somi , amber , etc
Ugh mbk has ruined a lot of good peopl with high potential, including shannon williams :( Glad shannon is out of the basement tho and doing what she likes now
I think she has the problem that her face looked very old very early! And to be honest...it's extremely superficial...but the kpop industry cares so much about these things
I don’t think it’s jsur her face tho. Soo young and hyoyeon and sunny gets called ugly by korean standards but they still debuted because they had something to make up for it. Seeing her being dropped so many times there has to be other problems.
@@MissGenie0607 well sunny and hyoyeon is more talented than her, they also have this charisma that you can't even deny specially when their on stage while she doesn't have that when I watch her performance, she is just good and confidence but no charisma, if you watch the Produce 101 she was literally overshadow by those youngster, i think that is what she truly lack.

I remember watching only Into The New World produce 101 stages for Both teams and Then hating Chanmi just because in comments people called Her greedy and untalented. Also I was happy that she didnt debuted with SNSD because they are my ults. But Then I watched every episode of Produce 101 and I grew to love her! She was just presented as A villan but never was one. Honestly she was in top 5 of my favourite girls on A show along Sohye and Minji. Now I stan her and loved her debut! And also I wish that she would finally gain succes. Stream Lights for clear skin luvs
Agree. Effort does play big role in achieving success, but if we think that's the only factor, we will keep blaming ourselves when we cannot reach our goals
I think other contestant for this series is Euna Kim. She’s really talented and even though she debuted twice, both groups disbanded right after debut. She is also knew from her appearances in many survival shows, such as The Unit and Unpretty rapstar. I think she was supposed to be a member of Black Pink, but I’m not sure. She recently gave up the industry after a lot of years trying! Hope she finds happiness in whatever she wants to do in the future.
Chanmi deserves love, she worked so hard to become a member of very successful groups and failed. She is the physical manifestation of the quote "You can't blend in if you were born to stand out"
This was a super interesting video! I think Gaeun from After School or Yongguk from BAP could potentially be some other contenders for unluckiest idols? Also Xiyeon from Pristin, although she's still pretty young and still has a lot ahead of her.
Let's do an update: Chanmi started to study on the university since 2018 and graduated on music in 2019. She learned how to write her own songs. On 2020 she did her last movements as a kPop idol, opening her channel and debuting as a soloist! Things changed in 2021, when Chanmi started her activities as a trot (traditional and popular Korean music style) singer. Her father loves trot, so she tried to change her style due to father's influence. Everything started when she participated on another reality show: Miss Trot 2, a popular TV show in Korea. At early 2022, Chanmi participated on King of The Masked Singer. Although she didn't won any of those, she went far and got the most important: visibility. On mid 2022, Chanmi uploaded 3 trot samples on her channel the fans would chose her debut song as a trot singer. The most voted was Haeundae Beach (the 2nd most voted, Pick Me, became a b-side). Chamni promoted for around to 3 years on several TV shows, always with the mic on! She conquered a loyal fandom which felt in love to her vocals and dance skills. Chammi also is active as a MC since her trot career started, participating on several events. And on 2023 she became an MC of a trot TV show and is on that charge until nowadays. She also got her first award. The Trot Popular Singer Award at the Grand prize for 100 proud Koreans. Chanmi became Namyangju City Public Relations Ambassador too. On 2024, Chanmi finaly had her comeback with On Saturday Night. She is promoting it widely on several TV shows, including Inkigayo. Her popularity increased significantly and she was awarded again on The 34th Goboksu and Hwanggeumsim Song Festival. She got the Young Trot Star Award. A a trot singer, Chanmi also did photoshoots and interviews for some Korean Magazines. Of course Chanmi is not a trot phenomenon yet, but she's having her best period on her career. The idol era was a total fail, but she wasn't on the wrong place for more than a decade. The struggle on he kPop world was necessary to create Chanmi's unique style on trot. Seeing her finally finding her place and growing little by little as a trot singer is so fullfiling... She never gave up. Always chased her dreams with a big smile even with several obstacles that western kPoppers knows very well. And honestly, Chanmi shines more as a trot singer. I'm not a fan of trot. I love kPop more, but Lights didn't got me, in other hand Chanmi's trot songs are really good.
Props to Chanmi for her determination. I can't imagine the stress she must have gone through and all the failures she has encountered. It is not an easy life, yet she keeps standing and pushing through.
Guys, Chanmi honestly has so much patience, passion and persistency. What do u say about supporting her? I really respect her, I hope and wish she gets the recognition she deserves.
I remember CO:ED and 5Dolls....sh*t literally went down because of the bullying scandal. Now I get people can change throughout the years however did you ever stop to consider why she never «debuted» officially? Just a thought
I was wondering if the bullying was bad and/or confirmed since it only said it was rumored. cause it could've been false (which wasn't mentioned) but it wasnt confirmed either
@Alex Hopkins confirmed by whom? I mean there might have been a grey area. I’m still «friends» on fb with my bullies from high school but doesn’t mean I talk to them or care for them...
@@Monoiru I think you're too naive to think they might stop a group from debuting just because of bullying. Didn't AOA get to where they are because management turned a blind eye to it? If they can get it under wraps and scandal free, I don't think they will care as long as the group earns money. Talent overrides personality in some cases. Also T-ara was a great example. Hwayoung who was the supposed victim of bullying and ruined the whole group turned out to be the actual two-faced schemer. When she tried to bring up the bullying again for screen time, the behind-the-scene workers spoke up to defend the other members and identfy the actual "group-wrecker". So the bully still got off unharmed and scotch-free. A debut has zero correlation with one's personalty but is correlated with their marketability as an entertainer. And there are people that are really unlucky. Look at what happened to Zhang Li Yin who was also from SM. She was supposed to be marketed as the next BoA. But her career never took off. Just because you are training in a big company just doens't translate to you will definitely succeed.
@@summertwinkle749 also the fact that Chanmi was in five dolls with the twin sister of hwayoung who helped her sister with the T-ara bullying thing is also something to put out there
@@summertwinkle749 being signed to large company, especially a top 3 company undeniably gives you a much, much higher % of success. just look at all the one hit wonders from small companies that you never hear about again. which groups are hailed as kpop legends and still revered years later? the big 3 groups. even if they never reach that level of super global stardom as they did in their peak, they still have careers in music, MCing, acting. e.g. suju, shinee, snsd, boa
Talent and determination are only two factors out of three. Most people ignore it's often pure luck that leads to success. It seems Chanmi has been out of luck for a long time, but I would say she has to be one of the most determined and experienced idols in K-Pop history by now. It would be fair to acknowledge her talent and iron will, especially as her solo song is far from being bad. As AOA taught us, we know nothing about the idol's personality or things that go on behind closed doors. So I can only say that she had a pretty bad hand at choosing companies (Jesus, CCM and Pledis!) and still is with us, releasing a fine solo debut after 16 years of hardship. That's fighting!
People also act like if you train something for some time you will automatically be good at it. Not saying she is not talented nor that she is bad, have not seen her content to say anything. Company is not gonna debut someone just because they work hard, they have to have something to offer. I admire her determination, i would have given up years ago. Success of a band is also determinate by its members. One extra/less person or different person in band can make huge change. Band could get even bigger or never make it.
Seeing how only the biggest idols make it out after 5 years in the industry makes me question why she kept going. I mean let’s be honest being an idol is not a real job/dream, once you get old and more fresher groups debut you’re going to lose your popularity, and it doesn’t take that long either, there are multiple successful groups that i have no idea where they are now. It hurts me to think of them being broke or suffering with money, school, and work because they decided to dumbly commit to such unpredictable path. Even the biggest kpop stars could lose their fortune in a minute, its such a scary path and idk why some people work that hard for it, it’s not inspiring, it’s stupid.
whether the rumours about her were true or not, huge respect for continuing to train and following her dream. I definitely wouldn’t have lasted very long in an industry like that.. after the second try I would’ve just been like “yeah ok this isn’t for me” she seems very strong-minded and determined... doesn’t care what people think about her 👏🏼👏🏼
You should totally do "the unluckiest kpop idols" for the groups Dia or Pristin/Hinapia both groups have went through hardships and unfortunately I think Dia is on the verge of disbandment.
This comment isn't aimed directly at Chanmi specifically... but my biggest question would be about the idol's personality. I think having talent is one thing, but ho man... if you have a really problematic & shitty personality, then it's kind of a risk to put someone in a debut line.
She isn’t problematic nor does she have a shitty personality. She’s just a caring, kind, talented senior who was ill during pd101, hence the voice cracks. Mnet evil edited the shit out of her but look at her now :) she’s back and better than ever
I Totally Agree. I Think The Bully Rumours Of Her And Another Member Bullying Soomi Really Affected Her Career And Was The Main Cause Of Her Bad Luck. She Is Talented But Netizens Take Bullying Really Seriously (Unless They Bully Members, Then Its "Constructive Criticism") And Even In 2020, We See How Bullying Can Affect An Entire Group And Even A Well Known Group To Disband (Jimin Bullying Mina From AOA Which Lead The Group To Disband)
I have seen her in TikTok recently now and she's very active there interacting with netizens. Netizens praised her for her resilience and determination to her music career.
Since I've seen all of his career too, you should definitely do Taewoon, not only he struggled to be an idol, but he also tried to go on the rap scene, and this was exactly where his brother was successful, and it made it harder for him. And if one day you want to do something that goes from sad to happy, you could do something for people who finally made it like "the rise of one of the most hated produce 101 trainee : Ju Haknyeon" He's doing well and he's doing better and better with The Boyz and that would be interesting because I feel like you brought up an important point about evil editing and luck to be successful. Haknyeon has still so much forums of hate, you can cry just by reading them, and since his father died during produce and people were mocking him online and to his face, and sexually harassing his mother, so even if The Boyz isn't the biggest boy group, they have a lot of achievements..
I still feel so sorry for her, I knew her ever since Co-ed school and it's heartbreaking seeing her not successful, she works so hard she deserves to be noticed 💖
Dang, I had no idea she was in so many things that I followed without even realizing it was her each time. She def dodged a bullet not sticking with Pledis, def a red flag there. It def must've been a hard journey for her to be a part of so many groups that blew up, but to not debut with them herself. Hope it does workout for her in the end. Also did not realize Zico had a brother, and would def want to hear his story on being unlucky, cause me not knowing about him must be for a reason. That's especially with Zico being as huge as he is.
wow i didn't know Zico had a brother either! reminds me of how beyonce has a younger sister and i never knew for years. and beyonce's suuuuuuper famous
Damn... I swear Ploopy addressing this is really genius, since no would really want to feature their stories. (But I'd also like to mention that while the ones having the hardest time get their spotlight, those in the middle ground are actually the least talked about... Kind of) Btw thanks for this informative video! It gave me a grasp of just how difficult the industry in music (kpop or from other countries) is.
Her bullying scandal was never disproven, just swept under the rug. It’s really not based on luck, but most likely personality and looks. Talent and determination don’t really matter when you clash with literally everyone else. There’s definitely a reason she didn’t succeed.
I was her fan when she was in Co ed school/ Five dolls and also the whole first P101 season and defending her when she "messed" up that one highnote.. I feel so sorry for her.
I wonder if the bullying scandal/rumour was anything to do with her missing out on debuting in multiple groups? Maybe her behaviour in general wasn't good? (Just speculating. Obviously I have no idea).
I've been in love with Chanmi since about 2014, and it broke me when she was evil edited during Produce. Nobody had any sympathy for her voice breaking during ITNW, but imagine how heartbreaking it was for her. It was meant to be her debut 9 YEARS prior to the competition, and she blew it. Her solo debut is so beautiful, I listen to it daily. Please support her.
Ok, so I see many answers to comments stating that ChanMi is racist, so I will put my answer to one of that comments here just to make sure: "That was a misunderstanding. She doesn't know English and she, at that time, liked every type of comments without knowing what they were saying, including the Obama one. When people were telling her about her mistake, then she erased not only her likes, but the post. Maybe it's not understandable for many people why she liked EVERY comment, even the ones that she didn't know the meaning, but actually many unpopular idols do that. The whole situation was spread without knowing what happened (which is understandable since we, as humans, can trust everything that is said, even me), I'm just saying this to not make random conclusions about something that's not clear for most people c:" Have a nice day guys :D

Hi! Regarding HISTORY, sadly they aren't under LOEN. The second eldest, Dokyun, opened a cafeteria called Güstave and he looks pretty happy doing that. Kyungil, the leader, produces music at Signature Sound. Sihyoung disappeared from social media, it seems, but he lives a normal life. Jaeho became a soloist under the name "Nano", but he is currently doing his service. And last but not least, Yijong, who as you know is now producing songs for BigHit groups, including BTS and TxT!
@@pikaqueen thanks I knew that but I wasn't sure even with them doing things on their own if they were still signed with LOEN legally. No one ever said their contracts expired except the statement that was made they are still under LOEN. But again that was 3 years ago.
I'm glad someone finally talked about Chanmi. I feel like a lot of people hated her after her performance in PD101 and the evil editing they did to her but she's genuinely a really good singer and really talented. It's frustrating to see a lot of people judge her based off of one performance when she clearly displays her talents elsewhere.
As a Coed School stan (my Ultimate Group), I'm really thankful to you for doing this video. I personally see ChanMi as an inspiration because of how she continues despite everything that happened to her. It's angry to see how the members of my favorite group didn't get a good management of the company and ended in awful ways, but I'm glad some of them are finding themselves and what they like, including ChanMi. I hope you make more videos about this and I wish you the best

SM isn't counted, their trainees don't have debt because when those trainees debut that training fee is deducted from their salary. And if certain trainees leave their training fee is deducted from their seniors' income.
She wouldn’t have much. If a company cancels the debut on their own or gets rid of trainees then the trainees don’t have debt

They say she’s “too young to debut” at 15 but is “too old” at 20?
It's crazy that she got cut off from snsd for being too young when she is just 1 year younger than seohyun
ikr maybe she because of the face value i guess she doesnt blend in , i feel sorry for her☹️
I think SM dont want to hurt her and make her didnt confident with herself if they said the real reason

I was about to sleep but you uploaded three minutes ago, no WAY I’m missing this
chanmi was promoting at the same time when my ult group was promoting. I didn't knw anything abt her career. Her solo was really good so I looked up for her and found she missed soo many great chances to debut and was also in mixnine tooo even tho I didn't knw ppl call her unlucky I myself thought that luck was never in her way even if she is talented...
THAT'S SAD ://
Yes I knew she looked familiar! I just realised she was promoting with my ults too and I thought she was pretty good. Hope she gets her big break soon
Poor girl. I can relate to her. It sucks when the universe seems to be conspiring against you.
19:40 HOW DARE THEY!?
Even the worst groups from that tier list worked harder than the people who wrote these comments.
you should made a video about kim dani , she's also one of the contestant of produce 101 along with chanmi , known as "the dark horse trainee", she's from MBK , she was almost a member of T-ara N4(?) and almost become the member of DIA but she's not making through the final line debut because she doesn't fit with DIA's concept. She was also featured with 5-dolls with song called "do you love me?". Things that i've been noticed about kim dani was she's friend with lots of foreigner kpop idol such as somi , amber , etc
Ugh mbk has ruined a lot of good peopl with high potential, including shannon williams :(
Glad shannon is out of the basement tho and doing what she likes now

Eh. Dani isn't particularily good at anything. At least Chanmi can sing.
what happened with dani though? after pd 101, i was expecting mbk to put her in a girl group with shannon but it didn't push through...
I think she has the problem that her face looked very old very early! And to be honest...it's extremely superficial...but the kpop industry cares so much about these things
yea they probably cut her out from snsd because eventho she would be the maknae, her face is older than seohyun
I kinda agree, i mean she will be the maknae but her unnie is quite look younger than her age.

I like this series! And you’re right, effort does not determine success. Suga from BTS even recently said that.
Yeah, its only based on luck.
yep. i think luck also plays a big part in success
Agree. Effort does play big role in achieving success, but if we think that's the only factor, we will keep blaming ourselves when we cannot reach our goals
How do you thinking Addison rae got famous
@@someiggashit8654 because she's pretty
I think other contestant for this series is Euna Kim. She’s really talented and even though she debuted twice, both groups disbanded right after debut. She is also knew from her appearances in many survival shows, such as The Unit and Unpretty rapstar. I think she was supposed to be a member of Black Pink, but I’m not sure. She recently gave up the industry after a lot of years trying! Hope she finds happiness in whatever she wants to do in the future.
in general, i think being an idol is unlucky... unless you really hit it big (which are mostly idols in big ent. companies)
Why yongguk??
Yongguk??? He's not unlucky he have his own label now. Ts ent is just shitty he's not unlucky
Maybe zelo instead of yongguk.
Okay why did i start crying when she said "13 years of training"
LIKE THTA IS A LOT
16 years
Props to Chanmi for her determination. I can't imagine the stress she must have gone through and all the failures she has encountered. It is not an easy life, yet she keeps standing and pushing through.
"Rejection is Redirection"
The Chanmi's channel is named "허찬미 HUH CHANMI"
This poor woman has been a trainee for as long as I've been alive
whether the rumours about her were true or not, huge respect for continuing to train and following her dream. I definitely wouldn’t have lasted very long in an industry like that.. after the second try I would’ve just been like “yeah ok this isn’t for me” she seems very strong-minded and determined... doesn’t care what people think about her 👏🏼👏🏼
Wow she really blured out a 2 SECOND part of ace's dance practice bc people think that she's dragging them smh
@@fjordd7760 I literally just wrote in the beginning of this comment isn't aimed at Chanmi -___-
I Totally Agree.
@@Chris-ot9bk why do you capitalise every word?
@@Chris-ot9bk no Jimin and Mina were from AOA, not IOI
I think an unlucky idol would be Hwang Jisun, who debuted in three groups (Girls’ Day, New F.O. and S#afla).
I can see how much their crying right now they lost a gem they don't deserve her
I have seen her in TikTok recently now and she's very active there interacting with netizens.
“How many more years so we have again?”
Bruh I’m ded
Damn... I swear Ploopy addressing this is really genius, since no would really want to feature their stories. (But I'd also like to mention that while the ones having the hardest time get their spotlight, those in the middle ground are actually the least talked about... Kind of)
Btw thanks for this informative video!
Do you mean the April accusation?
I was her fan when she was in Co ed school/ Five dolls and also the whole first P101 season and defending her when she "messed" up that one highnote..
I feel so sorry for her.
damn, and it was just one note. I bet she slayed the rest of the song. People can be so shallow.
@@hectzen23 Mnet edited it very ugly too :(
Yeah and they did the same to Gyuri on Produce 48
Ok, so I see many answers to comments stating that ChanMi is racist, so I will put my answer to one of that comments here just to make sure:
"That was a misunderstanding.
The whole situation was spread without knowing what happened (which is understandable since we, as humans, can trust everything that is said, even me), I'm just saying this to not make random conclusions about something that's not clear for most people c:"
Have a nice day guys :D
