If you are interested in a 'Choose Your Own Adventure' style video game, I would recommend a visual novel creator like Ren'Py! Ren'Py in particular is pretty easy to use and seems very suited to the game you want to make.

But why tho? I like this channel, but why would someone want to "buy" his sweater? I'd even like to give him money, but I definitely do not want the sweater. Is there an opt out? Maybe I'm weird, but I think getting someone else's sweater is weird. Maybe if you're a fetishist for clothing. But then it's creepy. And if you're not, it's just pointless. Isn't it? I don't know. As I say, sometimes I feel I'm the weird one, but I just don't get humanity. Hm.

@@CoryMck most english speaking people pronounce it like you would "ran knock" and that's totally fine, but I - as a german - pronounce it differently.
I'll try to explain it, but it will be somewhat complicated if we want to do it correctly :D
First the "ra" part. That is quite difficult to explain, because it is very german... Go to this site [ www.thegermanproject.com/german-lessons/german-pronunciation ] and listen to the pronounciation of "Radio" and just copy the part before the "dio". Put a "n" at the end of that and then "noch" like you would the "loch" in Loch Ness (no not like "lock") just with an "n" at the beginning. Hope that is understandable 😅

He's confused by the sweater thing but I think that its not a -weird- thing but its just such a fitting part of his aesthetic with the calm, intimate style of the videos the sweater becomes more of a highlight then it would have been on anyone else or in another video

Big Joel answering questions about personal brand and deconstructing the concept of a personal brand and giving a nuanced take about it is very on brand.
I like this sweater. It has nice colours and looks warm. I hope it is a soft wool and not a scratchy wool.
re: sweaters...I just like your sweaters and many of them just happen to have obvious personalities (eg aggressive, very aggressive, too aggressive, not very aggressive at all, cheery), so I comment on them so they know they were noticed and appreciated.
@Khaled Rapp It depends on the sweater, of course. But Joel has at least one very aggressive sweater that is Very Big and almost overshadows whichever video it's in. I think it is grey and white. I don't blame it for its aggression, as it is very majestic.

RE: learning to make games, if you have a specific idea you wanna work out, I'd recommend Twine, if you haven't heard of it--it lets you make text-only type games. it's nice 'cause it means you don't need to worry about graphics and whatnot! and as a CS major, not needing to put a lot of coding into a game is a lifesaver ^_^;
Agreed! Am a history major with no CS background, found Twine to be extremely easy to pick up yet really versatile when you need it to. I prefer the Sugarcube format.

I love your, let’s say, lack of long term plan/goal... I identify with that. I’m also 24, and I had this discussion with my girlfriend recently where we were talking about goals and I decided I don’t have any right now and it’s really relieving to be that way. I’m lucky and got a job using my degree right out of college, I’m happy with it, I make enough to pay my debts and afford a modest living, and I love my girlfriend. I’m with you man, it feels good to just live for a little while and really enjoy it without the stress of “forward progress” our society usually puts on us. Peace

As far as the cadence thing goes, a nervous, unsure, stuttery cadence is both relatable and funny and several channels have adopted something similar as a part of their brand: Gus Johnson, Eddy Burback, and Some More News for example

I find the topic of the Big Joel brand interesting. I remember when I first stumbled upon your channel I saw your sweater, hair, and eyes and I thought "yep that's some 'smol bean' energy right there", and when I learned your real name I just felt like it supported this branding. But of course to you, it's just you. That's something that fascinates me. I often wonder how others would "brand" me if I had a platform where I could share my content and personality. The idea of a person's brand is one of my favorite things to think about because there's no definitive answer. While most people might interprete your schtick as a particular thing, there must be some people who interprete it as something else. You give off a cozy and cultured vibe with the warm tones, wine, and paintings in the background, but someone else might see something totally different. I feel like we're starting to have this conversation more and more with the rise of aesthetic culture and things like "vibe check".
