It's always nice to come back to the first TRT I ever watched. Crazy to think it has become a weekly tradition of mine to sit down and watch you create awesome things for nearly 18 months now. I'm so happy you kept this series going, Nick
You are a sick guitar player/song writer, but what really amazes me, is your ability to program so well and fluidly. I’m learning a lot from your channel, and using it to really push me in my own playing.
Awesome track! I think if you're gonna work on this a little more the ambience should be much more prominent in the _second_ half, as a big part of that IA feel (and thall in general but that's not the point here) is the ambience filling in the blank space that the other instruments leave. IA themselves have talked a bit about just vibing to their own ambiences without any other instruments, so keep that in mind lol. Keep up the good work!
Can you show us your mastering chain at one point? I heard you mention a few times where you "turn on" your chain once you're mostly done with writing a riff and are about to listen to it back.
Can’t be sure, but probably a compressor doing about 3db of compression, some subtle EQ boosting of highs and lows, maybe a little saturation, and a limiter.
Very much Erra, not so much Invent Animate…far off from Currents lol. 1/3 ain’t bad. Jesse Cash helped write and mix Invent Animates early stuff so there’s mutual influence. Sick riff tho.
glad you saw my comment! killed it man, definitely got the right vibes. it would be sweet to hear this turned into a full song!
Thanks for the inspo! 🙏
Noiceee
I completely agree
“not as easy as it seems” making an IA/ERRA song does NOT seem easy😭
Neither is close to technical metal. All techniques used are simple and old.
Both bands are easy, as far as composition.
Bro just made the sickest TDP Thornhill riff
14:44 that clean tone is giving me major Vildhjarta vibes. Good stuff
Old Monuments type beat
fr i wanna see nick try to write some thall thatd be nuts
My thoughts exactly!!
Well I have news for you haha@@Toumaiii Check his latest thick riff thallsday!!
Valhalla reverb
Sick stuff dude, love it
Thanks so much dude! Love your vids!
That first riff sounds like if ERRA wrote the first riff in Monarch by Invent Animate
how about mixing tutorial...love these videos you make btw
I support this, the mixing and production is always on point
@@Dollyo98 Yup, would be awesome to see
Yeah i see the virtual mix rack plug in on there😂
This
Can’t give away all the secret sauce. Would be cool tho
Listened to this on spotify and had to see how you assembled that panning bendy boy. That was so satisfying. The musical mind is a wonderful thing.

This comment made my day dude! Thanks for your support! I’m glad you’ve stuck around! 🤘
Bro, that's so sick, you gotta make it a full song someday. Totally nailed the in-yo-face vibe these bands portray :)
16:11 yeah that's definitely TesseracT-y ❤️
This could turn into a sweet series! I'd love to see some Spiritbox style riffs!
Sick bro and invent animate is sick af! Definitely need to deep dive them!
These are definitely the best part of my Thursdays

That stereo pan with the bends towards the end of the riff made me throw my yogurt at the wall. That was so damn sexy.
IA and Erra are two of my absolute favorite bands and seeing you give it a go is always a pleasure to watch! Love your setup and gear!
That's soooooooooo clean brother, keep up the good work !!
what a fucking riff, really polaris-esque!
two of my favorite bands. glad to hear you have a go at the style
At the bass drop I could throw my chair through a fucking window.
I've said it before but these videos are absolute GOLD! So inspirational and informative for writing!
Loved this video, been writing more riffs like this lately and seeing other people do it really broadens the perspective
First time on your channel and man you're talented af
Dude how did you manage to make editing entertaining lmfao
SICK riff! keep'em coming!
That's the jam!! Great job Nick. Another sick riff and it's great witching it all come together nicely.
New to your channel and I’m all for this. So sick
Thanks so much man!! You’re a killer vocalist!
MONSTER..Amazing work man..So inspiring
The riff in Cloud Cascade is one of the best riffs i have ever heard
The best riff anyone will ever hear.
My thursday is saved again by TFT, that turned amazing, Niiib, i loved the clean/ambient production part, that part was tasty!
Really dig your videos! My bandmate and I have such a similar workflow, but man are you an infinite resource of riffs! Keep on killing it :)
I would kill for you to do some tutorials, these videos are so inspiring
I definitely wanna use this way of writing as a blueprint to help me with my writing in the future
This is cool man! Really love your content 🖤
this was sick man, really enjoyed
@16:29 ‘Anyways, let’s add some bass drops.’ 😂
Well... That was sick AF
Amazing video, thanks for sharing your knowledge🙏🔥
Bro you gotta continue this one!!!
honestly comes off as more Spiritbox esque to me, however its still an absolute banger of a riff, you killed it man!
erra is my favorite band, so this is hype af ty
No Erra is MY favorite band
@@antwan1131 because u have a nice bike in your pfp i'll let this slide...
@@twitchthepocket good. let your friends and family know as well
@@antwan1131 your bike is not in your pfp anymore so sorry dude erra is actually only my favorite band and now we have to fight
@@twitchthepockethey. frick you guy. Those are fighting words
Sounds a lot like Wage War and Spiritbox! Awesome track Nick. This sh*t looks too easy for you 💪
Turned out to be perfect Architects impression haha
I would think it’s not easy at all …but I’m all for this I love Erra
Outstanding video as always. Would be curious about delving into this mastering chain of yours… 👀
You gotta release an album with all the riffs called like "thick riffs from a Thursday" or something 😂id listen to that 24/7!
“What if I double this track and” give it to the next person
For real though, love IA and you killed this. Well done
Thanks dude! I thought the same thing when I was editing 😂
you coulda told me this was unreleased erra or IA and i would’ve believed you 😭
You should do some video lessons of some of these riffs for us nOoBs lol
Amanzing man! Loved the old school tesseract vibes😂
dude this is so nastyyyy.🔥🔥🔥
bro this goes hard as hell
Ugh you gotta listen to currents! One of my absolute favorite bands at the moment
I learn so much from these
This needs to be a full song! Also this sounds a lot like 'Soul Despair' a small band from portugal
dizzam this is Dope my dude!!!
THHHHIIIIIIICCCCC
Would be cool to see you try to write something in the style of After The Burial too.
Earned a new subscriber
you won a subscribe because i didnt know there was a function in the midi functions to double the speed that easily hahahah
super sick broham
Heaviness is stored in the TOAN. What do you think the heaviest riff in E standard (6 strings) is? Could be a fun challenge.
„My brain is rolling with too many ideas”
My brain 0-0-0-1
i mean same, pretty much

Absolutely killer job on this! Do you think you'd ever do a Volumes-inspired project? Something around the VIA or Happier album styles?
Thank you! I think I already rip off volumes enough as it is 😂
Can you do a rundown of what you use for your mastering chain and also how to save it as a preset? makes a huge difference.
14:45 thought I was listening to Traces by Vildhjarta for a second lol
Just recently revisited that album for the first time in forever!
Excellent ! I'm curious if the fret wrap is doing anything ? I dont think so in this case but i can be wrong !
A periphery style thicccc riff would goooooo hard 😎 next Thursday !?!?!?
the panning 🤤
Roll dice to set the time signature, could be sick? Could be painful? Only one way to find out.
fckn sick bruh keep going

Definitely keep doing videos like this one. ALso, how do you like that Kiesel? How does it compare to other guitars in the price range?
Bro this sh* makes me wanna swim 🤘🏼
I heard low of wage war and doomsday of architects in your riff
Cool
YO!
The riff is...
乇乂丅尺卂 丅卄工匚匚
Architects-core.
Mans got two basses beside him but chooses to program instead...
This so sick dude! What snare do you have running for that kit? The room sound on it is perfect
Very much Erra, not so much Invent Animate…far off from Currents lol. 1/3 ain’t bad.
Jesse Cash helped write and mix Invent Animates early stuff so there’s mutual influence. Sick riff tho.
Where did you get the bass drop and reverse cymbal samples?
Can you write a song like Dayseeker for this TRT?
You should try doing a Loathe-inspired song!
finally!
Where’d you get your mastering chain?
You gotta finish hedwigs theme when you get a chance man
what was that plug in you used for the bass drop samples?
recording and mixing tutorials plsssssss
Hyyooooogeeee
I totally loved the riff although it followed the doomsday riff formula.
Definitely sounds more Erra than Invent Animate
Not sure if y’all have listened to LAKEVIEW or not. But they’re metal country and they’re sick. Cody from Wage War helps write a lot of their stuff.
🔥🔥🔥
Just a triple drop d# breakdown
Oh boop
What if you swapped the clean lead over to the choppy variant instead of over the opening riff? 🤔
I know you mention what drum pad youre using once but can you remind me what youre using?
