I love music theory and large chords and proggy stuff and all, but sometimes you just have to go stupid and be ultra caveman, cuz that's how you get magic like this!
Your stuff is always so sick to watch man. I know the beauty of editing video is you can streamline the creative process but it's so nice to watch someone rip out creative stuff without getting caught up in the details before it's useful. Keep crushing it dude!!
im also writing a thrown / alpha wolf style song and this video will be a reference for me to finish the song nick saving my songwriting process once again
I will do anything for more of your videos bro! I work for a truck driving/street sweeping company and I’ve binged your vids over a few times now on the job. You also post on my pay day so TRT is always a huge part of my week and always gets me itching to get home and write more creative music 😎 PS totally gonna book a production meeting with you soon! Love your stuff
Great stuff as always brother. Also I had no idea you used to work with Machine, that's so cool. Dude was one of my biggest influences as a producer when I was first starting
I feel like on top of having their own fans, Thrown gets a toooonnn of streams being on Spotify radio for other insanely popular metal bands. I got Grayout every time I finished listening to the 2 Knocked Loose singles last year, and I let that shit play every time
If you set the raw meat dumpling in your tool belt and summon the mimic tear, the mimic tear will eat it to heal 3 times per summon. The twist is that the mimic tear summon can’t get poisoned so it only heals itself without any negative status effect. He will live much longer. 👍🏻
Music aside, The mimic tear does help a lot. If you max it out, it’s awesome and won’t die in 2 hits. Now, it won’t do everything for but it can create some openings. Which can be clutch especially if your build is brutal. Just my little two sense that are based on my experience.
I also use Logic Pro and if ya wanna paste whatever you have highlighted to the next bars that are the same length in midi and or audio, it’s cmnd+R. This is for all the Logic Pro x users only
I would love to see you tutorial your thought process behind dialing in a genrespecific tone but with only the genres YOU usually do. I have a weird habit of quadtracking with really dry-ish marshall/80's tone. Playing death/metal/core, I like it, but the band doesn't, and I totally get why. It's just, it makes me work a bit harder with the guitar, more gain feels like I'm cheating.
So the Mimic Tear has been nerfered a bit since release. It's still pretty decent once you have it fully upgraded, however in the lower levels its not as good from what I recall.
8:11 tones and riffs like this makes me wonder why bass is not used for riffing more often in metal, it sounds so fucked up (in a good way). Take me Home by Knocked Loose has an intro bass riff which is just evil sounding
hey so, I'm really interested in the Metric Modulation you did. Can you explain what that is and how it's different from half time? Is that literally just half timing the cymbals in a set tempo for just a few bars or are you throwing them off half time at the 1 and 3 as opposed to the 2 and 4 beats?
Hey nick (or anyone) have you noticed nameless x being a resource hog compared to nolly? I've been struggling to use it lately just because it's so much heavier to run.
I hope to finish it soon but I’m not in a rush haha I think I’m pretty close tho. I just beat Mohg and the Godskin Duo (least favorite boss so far 😂) Reallyyy looking forward to the DLC!
I thought the new Thick Riff Sessions were gonna be uploaded to spotify last week or so. I just came to comment this. Ill watch the video in a minute. Well, now ive been here for 30 seconds and i heard the riff youre going to play so ill stay.
That’s my bad 😅 I’ve been unexpectedly busy and haven’t been able to get all the tracks together in the time I was hoping but it will be up soon for sure!
Anyone have tips on how to lower latency in Logic outside of some of the obvious (plugin management, buffer size, freezing tracks, low latency mode.. etc) I am having an awful time time trying to record while using plugins as Nick does here and it is frustrating when you want to hear what you are doing.
Okay so I just gotta ask is this the Nick Broomhall from Cincy? Like, Manipulator right? Or am I just an idiot? 😅 Saw alpha wolf twice, seein em again this year, this riff is indeed Thicc in all the right places 🙌
in the light of doom the dark ages coming out next year, you should do something inspired by mick gordon! (and petition to get nick on the new doom soundtrack.)
stopped using my maxed out mimic tear after it kept getting disintegrated by maliketh 😭🙏 luckily i think ive become a better player after not using it :d
I love music theory and large chords and proggy stuff and all, but sometimes you just have to go stupid and be ultra caveman, cuz that's how you get magic like this!
Dude, that snare is absolutely insane
Now all we need is a gnarly Knocked Loose scream on that slowdown
Where the two beats are at right before the slowdown should be an ARF ARF
please no
You've really THROWN us for a loop on this one
It’s not a nick broomhall vid if nobody’s making puns in the comments

My bottom lip nearly touched my nose listening to the final playback, absolute filth Nick ! 🤘
ultimate stankface
Also pleaseeeee a tutorial on that drum mix. Insanely tuff man.
I concur!
Everytime I watch TRT I get so inspired to load up logic
Love to hear it
@@nickbroomhallmusic For real Nick! I'd totally attend TRT/Logic 101 by Professor Broomhall.
8/10 times I watch TRT I do and write something 1/63 as good as Nick does
please post more videos literally anything. your very inspiring
The thickiest riffs season is open
im also writing a thrown / alpha wolf style song and this video will be a reference for me to finish the song
nick saving my songwriting process once again
Love to see some Thrown and Alpha Wolf praise. Those riffs just hit SO hard.
nothing wrong about listening to too much Thrown
I honestly didn’t even noticed how big Thrown has gotten since I started listening to them. That’s crazy, but also extremely awesome!
Sick🔥 Stoked for these templates!🤘
Seen thrown twice now, second time being yesterday, and they were absolutely INSANE both times 😮💨
Holy guacamole, this riff is so nasty! Also, that transition into 'that riff but slower' was so smooth and *THICK*
Forever The Thickest Riffs.
Very excited to hear about the new templates.

I need your drum bus chain right now! Sounds great.
This is my fave one yet. Hell yeah brother!
100% have to continue this one in a future episode
Great stuff as always brother. Also I had no idea you used to work with Machine, that's so cool. Dude was one of my biggest influences as a producer when I was first starting
Sounds like an extra heavy version of the chorus to Kittie's song Charlotte with some cool modern twists. Very cool, man.
10:17 I’m helicopter limbs in the pit
I'm about to make this episode of trt my entire personality.
Gotta love those extra roomy, reverb-y snares. Instant stank face material
Wow! Powerful sound🔥

good video! Would be nice to see you make more videos with hardcore bands inspiration in the future.
Nothing hits harder than a hi hat breakdown
Can't forget the pick scrape screech
Thrown and Knocked Loose are my caveman spirit animals 🔥😤🔥
THICC AF. This ended up sounding thiccer than a pixar mom 's fanart on reddit. Masterfully done.

I see these videos and I think I can do it myself. I'm sooo wrong hahaha😅
This is disguuuuusting, and i love it
Love it 🤙

Br00tal!
YAYYYY more stuff like this please
Spotify just constantly wants me to listen to Thrown.
man this is stupid stank feel good vibes. well done!
Reminds me of the hills have eyes - The Acacia Strain
Lol was wondering why it was so familiar
Brother that’s some straight up kublai khan love it.
I also use Logic Pro and if ya wanna paste whatever you have highlighted to the next bars that are the same length in midi and or audio, it’s cmnd+R. This is for all the Logic Pro x users only
Glad my bday was on a Thursday bc I got thick riff Thursday today
THICCC - third C for extra thickness.

After bar 17 - would be cool with a D-beat part.
Wow😮
not trying to tell you what to do but a TRT where you write like loathe would be sick 🔥🔥
YES
So the Mimic Tear has been nerfered a bit since release. It's still pretty decent once you have it fully upgraded, however in the lower levels its not as good from what I recall.
Holy heavy
That's really sick man! What's your mastering chain? I've seen you mentioning all the time :)
hell yea brother

Imma need this template but with monarch kit toot sweet there budarino that's where the sauce is.
Mimic tear was nerfed because it was bonkers early on. Also this was sick.
I never clicked a video so fast. Alpha wolf goes hard tbh
dude thats sick lol
Awesome as usual.
When's season two launching on Spotify?
Just as long as a thrown song too 😅
Hell Yeah

2-step CENTRAL
Brother great video but I have to ask: what chair is that and how does to respond to long guitar playing/practice sessions
i’m getting major kublai khan vibes
You should soooo write a riff/song in the style of Protest the Hero
I SECOND THIS
If your Mimic Tear keeps dying, maybe you just need better armor...and/or more vigor 👀
NICK BROOMHALL LIKES ELDEN RING
Hey nick (or anyone) have you noticed nameless x being a resource hog compared to nolly? I've been struggling to use it lately just because it's so much heavier to run.
I need the template !
8:00 mimic tear got nerfed a while ago lol
Is vol 2 out yet nick?
we neeeedd hm2 chainsaw tonesssss on this
Hope you have fun with Elden Ring man! DLCs out soon so I hope you finish the main game by then, definitely worth finishing!
I hope to finish it soon but I’m not in a rush haha I think I’m pretty close tho. I just beat Mohg and the Godskin Duo (least favorite boss so far 😂) Reallyyy looking forward to the DLC!
@@nickbroomhallmusic Youre definitely close man! Some majorly cool bosses left still though! Enjoy!

This indeed was disgustingly offensive
I love it
Do a disfigured elegance style riff
Back on elden ring again for the dlc. Started over because I didn't have a damn clue where I was after 2 years 😅
🗿riff go burr
you gotta check out the band "Newcomer" they are sick.

Week 3 askinh for you to make a Riff in the style of Polaris and All that Remains
yoo ur cracked at guitar I was wondering where do you get that guitar tone and drum tone? I really need to start making stuff like this.
1:41 neural dsp fortin nameless and ggd drums PV
What ggd set has this snare?? And what’s the snare called?
Is the the PV snare?
Yessir! Either the high or mid tuned
@@nickbroomhallmusic sounds killer I would love a video of how you process your drums.
Whats your VST? Soldano?
in the light of doom the dark ages coming out next year, you should do something inspired by mick gordon! (and petition to get nick on the new doom soundtrack.)
reaper templates would be dope bro, I know it's not your DAW of choice... but it's my DAW of choice soooooo....
stopped using my maxed out mimic tear after it kept getting disintegrated by maliketh 😭🙏
