This is such a fresh concept. In a time when everyone seems to be finding corners to cut to make their content shorter and shorter, these deeper dives into your process are really refreshing. You clearly spend a good chunk of time editing this into something that’s still concise and direct, but it’s such a delightful thing to watch. This series has become one of my favorite subscriptions to watch for. I hope you are able to keep this concept alive for a while!
Agreed 100%. This series has resparked my interest and has motivated me to record my own music. I just hope I can improve as I'm terrible at the recording side of things
Love these videos man. Quick Logic tip, if you do silence automation like at 19:18, what I do is instead of automating the track volume, I put a gain plugin on the track and automate that instead. That way, if I want to adjust the track volume later, I can do so without worrying about automation points that have been added
Slowly becoming my favourite frequent RUclips series. Super inspiring stuff, chunky riffs and has actually helped me get back into writing again! Noice.
Love these vids man. I hope you don't mind a couple of notes from a random drummer (4:00-6:15). For a bit more realistic drum programming, the continuous 16th ghost notes in terms of 4 note groupings would go like: hardest-soft-hard-softest. The 32nds leading into the snare hits aren't impossible, but pretty tough for most players. I think something similar is possible if you do two 32nds, then two bass drum hits, then hit the accent. Adding space when there's cymbal hits before the drummer gets back to the snare would also be cool, and after the accents, bring the 16th note right after it up to maybe the 60s of 70s. I know I tend to hit it slightly harder after my other hand is accenting. One final thing: I know 127 sounds great, but some variation is always going to sound a little better. Not trying to be a know it all or anything. Just wanting to give you some feedback. You program drums so much better than most non-drummers already.
I found your channel recently, what I enjoy most is the tutorial on how to do editing stuff and the process when you come up with riffs, interludes some nice small stuff etc. I hope you will continue and somehow bring back lunch break riffs, feels kind of unfinished.
I absolutely adore this serious I'm almost done watching all of them and I know imma rewatch and rewatch 😅😅 I honestly feel like the home metal producer community needs more videos like this. It's very inspiring for me and it gets me pumped to work on my own stuff right after cuz I be procrastinating sometimes. 😂😂🤘🤘
The algorithm brought me here and I gotta say I dig your approach to writing music. It's a breath of fresh air to see this process captured fully but in an easy to digest video!
Im so happy you're continuing this song. Watched the original video at least 4 times, it was my introduction to your channel! Can't wait to see this progress further
I don’t djent and don’t own any extended range guitars but man, when I listen to your awesome riffage on your videos, I truly get inspired to try something new. Keep it up!
Can you make a video that shows your drum and bass programming process from start to finish? Would love to see that from you. Loving your drum and bass tones! Also a guitar tone video walkthrough would be amazing too. Great content.
7:55 has strong David Maxim Micic vibes. Really, it all does and I love that. Also, congratulations on upgrading from TJ's to Waterloo. Vastly superior product.
I was binge watching this series yesterday, and this episode made me fall into deep sleep! SO relaxing! 😂 Watching again today, after I’ve had a nap. Premium stuff dude!
This 2 part mini series for the Voice Memo riff has become such a big inspiration for my own personal EP. I've been on and off working on something for about 3 years and I have a track that has a similar vibe to the chorus here (yours is infinitely better). I've been stuck on writing a compelling verse, and this Plini-esque, Lofi vibe is exactly the sound I was imagining but couldn't translate. You've single handedly re-inspired me to finish. I absolutely hope this song makes it onto your EP! I found you on TikTok and am so glad I did.
Hey man, class riffs as always! Curious as to what setup you’re using in terms of computer/laptop. I’ve been using apple and logic for years, wondering how apple’s newer products stand up to music production compared to a purpose built pc? My mid 2015 MBP isn’t keeping up to speed anymore and looking for an upgrade. What are your thoughts?
Came across your channel through a instagram reel about hedwigs theme. I really enjoy your content. Thick riff thursdays lightens up my day. Keep on going!
TRT is the best series on RUclips. Only found your channel a few weeks back but so glad I did. It's really interesting watching you come up with different ideas for songs! Quick question.... when recording parts to pan left and right why not just copy and paste? Isn't it easier than playing it twice? I might be wrong or missing something but I'm sure I've seen others do it too so there must be a reason. Maybe for a more real bigger live sound. Sounds good whatever the reason is. Keep up the good work dude 🤘
I found you from the first episode of this. So glad that it came up in my recommendations. I feel like I learn a ton from just watching you do your magic.
Dudeeeee this song is incredible. This is really the exact type of music I want to be making. You should make some tabs for us or something to practice the main chord progression :)
@Nick I know you’ve released your Archetype presets, but do you have any options for your Logic templates? I know there’s a ton of third party plugins involved but I’d love to see how you build out your workspace within Logic on a deeper level.
DO IT!! GET IT ON!!! Seriously, straight hype and apex/epitome of good feel vibes. Did any of that make sense? FFS idk sounded right though. It's just perfect. Make it happen.
Which Drums plugins do you use? I love the Drums you used in this song. I have EZ Drummer, Perfect Drums, Steven Slate Drums. I don't get the sound of the drums you use
I'm at 2:20 in the vid, screaming at you to ghost note snare it... let's see if you do that... please... do that... will report back with either yay or oof momentarily.

Super Plini-like, really dig the VIBE
As a massive plini fan I’m loving where this song is going! 🤘
That’s all I could think of when hearing this was plini
i'm getting Intervals - Epiphany vibes in here specially the clean parts but Nick's phrasing gives this piece a fresh vibe tho.

Plini type beat. Love it.
Bro. This is so fucking good
Man proper Plini vibes on this! And that is an amazing compliment
So glad to see the whole creative process. The song is gonna be amazing!
Such a good song writer and talented producer.
babe wake up, the new thick riff thursday just dropped
Slowly becoming my favourite frequent RUclips series. Super inspiring stuff, chunky riffs and has actually helped me get back into writing again!

Keep up the TRT. Seeing your process of song writing is inspiring and insightful!
Thick Riff Plinidays, sounds great

I'm beyond hyped for this song to be completed!
This is so damn good!
The Song sounds like intervals and plini collabed, so good man. You gotta make it a full track
Can't wait to see the finished song. Actually found your content through the original TRT for this tune, so so sick.
Hey Nick, from the U.K. here - just to say I’ve learnt loads from TRT’s and love it. This song slaps too.
The algorithm brought me here and I gotta say I dig your approach to writing music. It's a breath of fresh air to see this process captured fully but in an easy to digest video!

We will not tolerate Trader Joe’s slander in this comment section
This song is gonna be awesome dude. Little Periphery vibe, specially on de chorus lead (song "Psychosphere")
I'm so impatient to listen to your EP !
I don't listen to Djent, but this track is absolutely banger! What an awesome production!
Dude yeah! If this makes it on the ep. It'll be cool to see how it everything was produced. That's awsome.
My Gooood, this is justing becoming greater and greater, can't wait to listen that as a full song, my thursday is saved by TRT!
I love this track!
I was binge watching this series yesterday, and this episode made me fall into deep sleep! SO relaxing! 😂
Watching again today, after I’ve had a nap. Premium stuff dude!

Such a great riff! I saw your original TRT video yesterday and immediately subscribed, very excited to see how this develops
This sounds a lot like plini. Love that stuff. I didn’t know that was your vibe!
I love the way this riff sounds. I'm excited to see if anything else comes out of it.
Lots of Plini vibes.
Man, that lick and your reaction at 10:15 is what made me like, suscribe and sharing. Amazing job, bro
Thanks dude! 🤘
This has easily become my favourite series, keep it up 👏🔥
I can't even record a nice guitar sound, and you make all of this look so easy 😮😮
Hey man, class riffs as always!

I love your seeing your videos, man! I’m so hyped to see how this song is turning out!
those slid octaves in the main riff are craving for some big Plini style bells
Right on bro. Sick 🤘

You will often get weird phase issues if the part is exactly the same. Getting a different take avoids these issues.
I like your ideas, your style n setup, kept it going!
Looove this one. Can’t wait to hear this as a finished song!
Your ideas are amazing bro. Great work
I found you from the first episode of this. So glad that it came up in my recommendations. I feel like I learn a ton from just watching you do your magic.

I'm happy for you and your channel growth! It's much deserved.
The reverse chord idea was done so well. Much love!
Cool shit dude!!
I love this series man, you teach me allot
@Nick I know you’ve released your Archetype presets, but do you have any options for your Logic templates? I know there’s a ton of third party plugins involved but I’d love to see how you build out your workspace within Logic on a deeper level.
Yeah I’ve actually been thinking of making that available as well! Stay tuned! 🙏

What do you use for your channel bus strips and master chain? We need a full mixing template video!!
nice stuff :)
Does anyone know what program it was to download the sounds? Like the snare and 808.
Yay.
Should I get Kontakt Komplete for metal production? It's 50% off right now and if so which one. What would you recommend if not Kontakt?
Where do you get all of these plugins from? I’d really like to have those. Btw… nice content dude! keep it up!
what is that program you use for all your sample stuff?
subscribed
Could you make a riff or a song just using the 8th string on your 8 string guitar?
What’s the name of this song please
Aptly titled "Voicenotes."
