I can't believe I'm in Somalia's capital of Mogadishu. It has essentially been the most dangerous city in the world for the last 3 decades, due to the ongoing Civil War which began started in 1991. Tourism is almost nonexistent, and if you do come, then you must take precautions and follow the rules given to you at all times.
BUT once I have looked past all the military checkpoints and I've gotten over my initial anxiety of being here, I am seeing an amazing culture with some of the kindest people I've ever met. And shall we talk about the beaches? Somalia has the longest coastline in Africa with some of the most stunning coastlines I've ever seen!
I won't say anything further, as I'll let the video speak for itself. If you've ever been to Mogadishu or Somalia, or are considering going there, then please comment below and we can get some conversation started.

I grew up surrounded by a huge Somali community and it was awesome. They're the friendliest neighbours, their little take-out diner places have awesome, unique food, and they essentially revolutionized my very poor neighbourhood by starting up all these simple little 24hr internet cafes/copy center. My fav coworker ever was from Mogadishu and he was one of the funniest dudes I've ever met. Miss ya Axmed!

Drew, I don't think you understand how much Somalian's LOVE YOU !!!! It's probably not the reaction you were expecting based on news coverage. I noticed how much my Somali friends talk about your visit and told me to watch this episode. Their very funny people, their always laughing and joking around with each other and they always make others feel at home.
I was deployed to Mogadishu in 1993, It's great to see a different look to this city from when I was there.
