Lets be real here for a second.... Is this game going to have any support by Nintendo? The only update that included some great content was half a year ago. It feels like Nintendo left this game dry and honestly it’s a shame. You would expect that a big title would at least get a couple of cool updates throughout the year. But no, only 1 update that included some enemies and blocks. I would be very surprised if Nintendo actually threw out a update in the future but at this point we have nothing heard about it yet.

And if coronavirus (somehow) was the case, we should have gotten more updates throughout 2019. Because Coronavirus started in Januari.
Here’s a cool idea: A Mario Paint mode. It would basically allow you to compose your own music and create your own game style. Though, I feel like being able to create your own style would completely kill off 2D Mario.
IMO, I feel like they only need to add in beach mountain and volcano. It’s pretty easy to make any style underground with semi solids. Edit: Then add on the idea of underground bgm.

The ability to turn the night effects on or off or mix/match effects and also allow you to either use the xylophone version of the music or the normal one CAUSE IT’S NOT FAIR NOR FUN. And the sad part is that in NSMBU, it doesn’t have a single daytime version of a snow stage, and using night time in SMM2 just changes the floor into ice! Even the music.
Here's my list: *World Maker update with more space to put more levels than just 5. Maybe 8 levels so we can put secret exits? And be able to upload multiple at once so we can make bigger games. *New power-ups (SMB has enough already so I'll get back to that in a bit - SMB3: Hammer Suit - SMW: Blue and Yellow Yoshi with sand cloud/flying abilities respectively, NSMBU: Ice Flower which can freeze any enemy except bosses and can walk on lava and water to freeze it (even though it can't do that in the original, but a man can dream! Also, Baby Yoshis too, but more on that below.) - SM3DW: Double Cherry which I think would cause complete CHAOS in multiplayer.) *New bosses (SMW: Reznor can be added to all styles except SM3DW, similar to the Koopalings - NSMBU: Boss Sumo Bro and Dry Bowser SM3DW: Hisstocrat, Motley Bossblob, and also... Um. More on that later.) Hey, speaking of Sumo Bro! *New Enemies: Sumo Bros! Fire Bros (they shouldn't JUST be in 3D World) Boomerang Bros (we already have the Flower, so... We could place them outside the Blaster! Porcupuffers in all styles (since they were in 3D World) Prickly Goombas (the Goombas that pop out those plants when touched by fire) Rexes and Dino Rhinos from Mario World can be added, too Huckit Crabs Clams Dragoneels Heavy Moles (from SMW those big Monty Moles you can stand on and ride over spikes) Meteors (come from the sky in Volcano theme if you let it) *New Themes Mountain / Rock Theme Beach Theme (no more forest levels like beaches) Tower Theme (give castle a break) Volcano Theme (give castle a break) Space Theme (we can make Space Worlds so... Why not? *New Elements Water Tiles and Lava Tiles, so we can make ponds and rivers, even waterfalls if we combine them with slopes! Sand Geysers (I have a concept in this level: 0HD-P97-XGF) Water Geysers and Lava Geysers as well. Those lifts from Mario Bros Wii that if there are too many objects on it it falls apart seen in forest levels. Blue Coins come from Orange ? Switches, which is an alternate form of the P-Switch (you can map exactly where you want the coins to go; they will be invisible until the player hits the switch) Obake Blocks (they are from NSMBU, when walked toward, they divebomb at you: a fun element to use in Ghost Houses) *New Mechanics Secret Exits can be added to a level if you have a Super World saved in Worldbot, this way you can truly make a "game" in Mario Maker. You'll just have to connect the secret exit to the level so that the secret area only opens if you take the exit you saved. *More clear conditions, like Reach the goal without hitting a ? Block, or Reach the goal without defeating any enemies. The level also ends as soon as a player completes the requirement (e.g. if you are in a maze and collected all 80 coins, the level will automatically clear. This way we can make minigames and even Enemy Courses!
Nathaniel, you *DO* know that Mario, Luigi, toad, nor toadette have abilities, because if they added peach and rosalina, they would be too OP online if they have the spin jump and float, unless they were skins like link
Stuff that finally made it in to Mario Maker 2: 30. The frog suit 31. The power balloon 38. The super acorn 43. Boomerang Flower 49. Koopalings 78. Mechakoopa There are 6/100 new things that are officially added in Super Mario Maker 2. If you already knew about this, then that's great. : )
Congratulations. Some of your wishes came true: - Frog Suit enabled only for SMB3 - Bowser Jr. and the rest of his family is enabled for all playstyle - Super Acorn enabled only for NSMB (and possibly SM3D) - Power Balloon enabled only for SMW. Though, the effect is a little different. - Mega Mushroom enabled only for SMB. Though, the effects are different, but similar in a way. I do like the idea of some of these things to be in SMM2 as well: - Thwimps, only accessible in SMB3, SMW, and NSMB, are great for more Thwomp challenges and obstacles. - Rising Sand Geysers (or simply, Rising Geysers), accessible for all playstyle, seems like a very good idea. More challenge for the levels. - Dragoneel, only accessible in NSMB and SM3D, would be great for water environment rather than using the lava dragon in the water (weird logic). - Rising Platforms, accessible to all playstyle, would be a great treat! Good for more creative obstacle course. - Finish w/o Flag system is a really great idea. Though, if playing multiplayer, the clear condition should be separate for each player rather than one person doing the whole effort while the other 3 players wait at the flag to appear. Works on certain objects already, like the racecar or riding a Yoshi. But if the objective goes by coin count or defeat a certain amount of target, then yeah: separate clear condition. - Stretch Blocks, accessible to all playstyle, is kind of a good idea. Great for reaching out to other obstacles. A fitting challenge. - Clock, accessible to all playstyle, may be a good comeback for the timer. The level creator can add Clocks in their level to add more time for the timer. The add time limit should be around 30-100 seconds, depending on the creator's choice. The limit count should be 5 or 6 Clocks per level. Don't want to cheat the timer with limitless Clocks. That would spoil the fun later on. - Increased distances for Vertical and Horizontal areas (not on the list). I know you didn't say this in the video. But, adding this to #14 (Adding 3 or 4 Sub Areas), it would be nice if players can change the size distance to either "Short Distance" or "Long Distance". Short Distance is...well, pretty much the normal length of the area. Long Distance is the much-longer length of the area, which would be great for players who wants to make a longer obstacle course. However, you can only do two long-distance areas, as the timer won't benefit from 3 or 4 long-distance areas. In addition, you cannot add a third or fourth sub-area if you're making two long-distance areas. Sorry, the timer says otherwise. Still, a great opportunity for longer challenges. - Weak Rank Points for Co-op (also not on the list). This is just an idea, but don't you think playing Co-op seems boring and doesn't benefit from anything? Well, if the developers add small rank points for finishing levels in Co-op, maybe players would play that mode more often. The rank points are rewarded simply by the difficulty level: Easy gives you no rank point; Normal gives you 1 rank point; Expert gives you 2 rank points; and Super Expert gives you 3 rank points. In addition, if the level has a clear condition as mentioned before above, the player who finishes the clear condition will obtain the rank point(s), even if they didn't reach the finish line. The ones who didn't clear the condition get no points for not even trying. This should make the players play the level rather than "cheating" it. - Phasing past comrades (another not on the list). Annoyed by your teammates in the way? Well, only in Co-op, they should let the players pass through eachother rather than being a nuisance of an obstacle. That way, players can do whatever they are trying to do. Jumping on teammate's head or carrying them still works. The only one that seems to bug me is the Double Cherry (9:22). It's great for playing with them solo, sure. But if you would imagine playing in either Co-op or Competitive, there would be some conflict in it. Like so: players can "block" your way of progress, or the game wouldn't be able to handle 2 or 3 of the same 4 characters (total of 8-12 character assets). The game may possibly be very-much laggier than before, or the levels won't work at all for multiplayer mode. Heck, maybe the game might crash at some point. Either way, Double Cherry seems like a bad idea. Remember, SMM2 is all about the 2D platforming, not open-world 3D.
My Future Level Theme Ideas: Mountain/Cliff (How was it not included in SMM2 already?) Beach (Water physics like lava in the castle theme) Volcano (Similar to castle, just more outside than inside) Tower/Fortress (A combo of Castle and Ghost House themes)
9 of these ideas are already in the game. The Koopalings, the Mechakoopas, Boom Boom w/ 5 hits (Big Boom Boom), the Acorn Suit, the Boomerang Flower, the Frog Suit, the P-Balloon, the Mega Mushroom and Fire Bros are already in Mario Maker 2. Stackable pipes are also possible, but only through glitches.
I think that a Super Mario Odyssey Game Style would be great. It would look like 3D World, but with some enemies from Mario Odyssey (Broodals, Madame Broode and Chain Chompikins etc) and the ability to throw your hat.
Id also put: - Red and Blue Panels from Galaxy 2 (Flip-Out Galaxy) - Super Mario Galaxy Ice Flower Powerup - Super Mario Galaxy Spin Ability - Mario Sunshine and 64 Style - Undergrunt Gunner - Bouldergeist - Much less limited length limit for courses - Much less limited length for Super World - The ability to import custom themes and music - The Cloud Flower, Rock Mushroom, Red Star Powerup, Cappy, Wing Cap, Invisibility Cap, Metal Cap - Wigglers, Octoombas, Whomps

Joe Mudd I mean, in the originals you could go into the pipes at any time and end up in the same area. In game the pipes are small and are just platforms. Look at the gameplay then look at the example.

So essentially, we can cut this down to 97 things missing from Mario Maker 2. Ha... good round-up. Sounds like the “updates” are done now. Hopefully, they see the error in their ways and add more... Definitely agree a lot of the housecleaning would be game changers (and easy to add) such as clear conditions without the flag (or being multi conditional). I’d would have liked to seen the ability to “lock” power-up at start, such as Frog or Link (making it a hit point instead of a state) and invisible tracks allowing us to draw out enemies path...

There are videos on how to do this but there is a way to use a contraption that makes it so every time you jump it'll turn on or off the on-off blocks the easiest method is to just put a swamp above you that hits and on-off switch every time you jump and you just have to repeat it for as long as you need

Idea, the peach and rosalina should be added, but as a special power-up similar to the peachette crown or whatever, where it transforms you into that character, or as a world setting, and rosalina could be on the mario galaxy one and peach for 3d world, you could also have wario and waluigi as settings or power ups for some other versions

Because nsmbu never had daytime snow levels they were all at night

Congratulations. Some of your wishes came true:
- Frog Suit enabled only for SMB3
- Bowser Jr. and the rest of his family is enabled for all playstyle
- Super Acorn enabled only for NSMB (and possibly SM3D)
- Power Balloon enabled only for SMW. Though, the effect is a little different.
- Mega Mushroom enabled only for SMB. Though, the effects are different, but similar in a way.
I do like the idea of some of these things to be in SMM2 as well:
- Thwimps, only accessible in SMB3, SMW, and NSMB, are great for more Thwomp challenges and obstacles.
- Rising Sand Geysers (or simply, Rising Geysers), accessible for all playstyle, seems like a very good idea. More challenge for the levels.
- Dragoneel, only accessible in NSMB and SM3D, would be great for water environment rather than using the lava dragon in the water (weird logic).
- Rising Platforms, accessible to all playstyle, would be a great treat! Good for more creative obstacle course.
- Finish w/o Flag system is a really great idea. Though, if playing multiplayer, the clear condition should be separate for each player rather than one person doing the whole effort while the other 3 players wait at the flag to appear. Works on certain objects already, like the racecar or riding a Yoshi. But if the objective goes by coin count or defeat a certain amount of target, then yeah: separate clear condition.
- Stretch Blocks, accessible to all playstyle, is kind of a good idea. Great for reaching out to other obstacles. A fitting challenge.
- Clock, accessible to all playstyle, may be a good comeback for the timer. The level creator can add Clocks in their level to add more time for the timer. The add time limit should be around 30-100 seconds, depending on the creator's choice. The limit count should be 5 or 6 Clocks per level. Don't want to cheat the timer with limitless Clocks. That would spoil the fun later on.
- Increased distances for Vertical and Horizontal areas (not on the list). I know you didn't say this in the video. But, adding this to #14 (Adding 3 or 4 Sub Areas), it would be nice if players can change the size distance to either "Short Distance" or "Long Distance". Short Distance is...well, pretty much the normal length of the area. Long Distance is the much-longer length of the area, which would be great for players who wants to make a longer obstacle course. However, you can only do two long-distance areas, as the timer won't benefit from 3 or 4 long-distance areas. In addition, you cannot add a third or fourth sub-area if you're making two long-distance areas. Sorry, the timer says otherwise. Still, a great opportunity for longer challenges.
- Weak Rank Points for Co-op (also not on the list). This is just an idea, but don't you think playing Co-op seems boring and doesn't benefit from anything? Well, if the developers add small rank points for finishing levels in Co-op, maybe players would play that mode more often. The rank points are rewarded simply by the difficulty level: Easy gives you no rank point; Normal gives you 1 rank point; Expert gives you 2 rank points; and Super Expert gives you 3 rank points. In addition, if the level has a clear condition as mentioned before above, the player who finishes the clear condition will obtain the rank point(s), even if they didn't reach the finish line. The ones who didn't clear the condition get no points for not even trying. This should make the players play the level rather than "cheating" it.
- Phasing past comrades (another not on the list). Annoyed by your teammates in the way? Well, only in Co-op, they should let the players pass through eachother rather than being a nuisance of an obstacle. That way, players can do whatever they are trying to do. Jumping on teammate's head or carrying them still works.
The only one that seems to bug me is the Double Cherry (9:22). It's great for playing with them solo, sure. But if you would imagine playing in either Co-op or Competitive, there would be some conflict in it. Like so: players can "block" your way of progress, or the game wouldn't be able to handle 2 or 3 of the same 4 characters (total of 8-12 character assets). The game may possibly be very-much laggier than before, or the levels won't work at all for multiplayer mode. Heck, maybe the game might crash at some point. Either way, Double Cherry seems like a bad idea. Remember, SMM2 is all about the 2D platforming, not open-world 3D.
My Future Level Theme Ideas:
Mountain/Cliff (How was it not included in SMM2 already?)
Beach (Water physics like lava in the castle theme)
Volcano (Similar to castle, just more outside than inside)
Tower/Fortress (A combo of Castle and Ghost House themes)

9 of these ideas are already in the game.
The Koopalings, the Mechakoopas, Boom Boom w/ 5 hits (Big Boom Boom), the Acorn Suit, the Boomerang Flower, the Frog Suit, the P-Balloon, the Mega Mushroom and Fire Bros are already in Mario Maker 2. Stackable pipes are also possible, but only through glitches.

Ha... good round-up. Sounds like the “updates” are done now. Hopefully, they see the error in their ways and add more... Definitely agree a lot of the housecleaning would be game changers (and easy to add) such as clear conditions without the flag (or being multi conditional). I’d would have liked to seen the ability to “lock” power-up at start, such as Frog or Link (making it a hit point instead of a state) and invisible tracks allowing us to draw out enemies path...

There are videos on how to do this but there is a way to use a contraption that makes it so every time you jump it'll turn on or off the on-off blocks the easiest method is to just put a swamp above you that hits and on-off switch every time you jump and you just have to repeat it for as long as you need

Idea, the peach and rosalina should be added, but as a special power-up similar to the peachette crown or whatever, where it transforms you into that character, or as a world setting, and rosalina could be on the mario galaxy one and peach for 3d world, you could also have wario and waluigi as settings or power ups for some other versions
