I Made a Soap Using Every Fragrance I Own

- I'm running out of storage space, so it's time to use up some of my soap fragrances! And by some, I mean all.
As a creator who makes homemade cold-processed soap, I'm normally confined to using one or two fragrances for a single soap recipe, and rarely will I use more than three. Today's the day I break free and make a soap using every single fragrance I own!
There are so many what if's! What if the batter seizes? Or accelerates? Or rices? Or separates? What if it smells terrible? Or absolutely delightful?! What if I discover that this was all just a waste of time and I that I should just stick to one or two fragrances after all????
Well, you'll have to watch to find out. That's why I made a video, you silly goose.
I get most of my soap supplies from Voyageur Soap and Candle, which is a soap and candle supply shop based in Vancouver.

You are getting crazier and crazier and I’m here for it 😍
🤪
Black and white stripes like the prison uniform you’ll get for destroying olfactory functions for the local denizens. Subbed for the fallout. 😂
Now you need to purchase a steamer for your soda ash 😊
You can also use the seamer on your iron.
I'm impressed it turned out smelling all right with all of those notes together! As you were cutting the soap, I thought that the accidentally-yellowy swirl-stripes gives it almost a bumblebee vibe, which is super cute. I love this kind of weird science, can't wait to see what you get up to next!
I thought bumblebee too! Now that the vanillin has kicked in, the yellowy stripes now look… well… kinda grotesque. I’ll post a community update next week about it haha
If there was an intrusive thoughts soap this would be it 🤣 LOVE your commentary and creativity! ❤
Thank you! And I have far too many intrusive thoughts… and they often always best me.
I’m cracking up at the IKEA comment!!!🤣
Your description of musky is spot on. I know it can be annoying to get unsolicited advice in the comments but I'm gonna do it anyway, I use my stick blender on my main small batch and then a whisk to mix my color and FO into the separated portions.
Advice is always solicited here! And that’s a great tip. How small do your batches normally go?
@@SoapUniverse 16oz and then I think I've just broken that down into 4 separate smaller molds, Walmart sells 4 cup plastic measuring cups for like $2 a piece and also a plastic picnic dish set that was like $10 and I use the plastic cups from one of those things for the batch breakdowns. Just information for cheap equipment. The lowest I've broken things down and it was to make soap color blocks for micas was maybe 18 1.5oz-ish mini batches from a big batch.
@@KtP370 Oh wow, 1.5oz batches would be so small! I should probably make colour blocks for my micas as well because some of their colours warp. Thanks for the ideas!
I remember when Royalty Soaps decided to use every colorant and then was surprised when her soap turned out brown. I have less problems with Florals than I do with Spice.
Haha florals and spices are the notoriously naughty ones! I’ve had pretty good luck with my spicy fragrances, though. Where do you normally get your fragrances from?
THE STICKER BLENDER! 🙇♀️ Happy tears 🥹
The soap looks like something I would stay away from 😂 maybe it’s because I have preconscious bias with the idea of all the scents missed in it. What is the normal amount of different fragrances do you have in a soap?
I’m not a fan of musty scents either 😅 it just reminds me of dust.
Haha I’ll have to post an update for how the soap looks now! Those vanillin fragrances kicked in and it’s now really quite ugly.
I usually refrain from blending fragrances because it’s less to worry about, but when I choose to I’ll normally stick with two or three. A blend made from 36 fragrances is definitely a record for me and probably anyone else on the planet 😂
I watched your watermelon fiasco and then I watched this one. You now have a new sub. Incidentally, I used that Watermelon Sorbet in my last soap. It smells scrumptious.
Watermelon Sorbet is probably one of my favourite fragrances! So delicious 😋
Very brave of you! 😊 I might try that with my stash of essential oils. Most of them are on (or past) the ragged edge of their best by date, so what have I got to lose except oil, lye, and distilled water?
Love your videos. Keep being you!
Thank you! And please let me know how that goes, I’m so curious!
I'm no colour theory expert but if the soap base is yellow, could you add a little purple or blue to try to achieve white? 🤔 I'm thinking about those purple toothpastes that don't actually whiten teeth but do some colour theory magic to make them appear white.
Feeling very sorry for myself because I've had a migraine for 4 hours so thanks for the video, nice distraction!
Aah that’s actually a trick bakers use to make their buttercream appear whiter! That’s definitely a method I’ll want to keep in the back of my mind.
Migraines are the worst. I hope you feel better soon! Here’s some ice: 🧊
Why was the soap bumpy when you cut it? The did the fragrances secretly rice it or something?
Are you talking about all the little tiny bumps?
Those are usually caused by air bubbles that get trapped in the batter. Since my small batches are so small, it’s very easy to accidentally blend in some air when I use the mighty stick blender 😉
I'm curious what happens if you attempt to make soap out of JUST fragrance oil.....ifra be damned.
We’re on the same wavelength! It’s actually on my to-do list. I planned on making a soap that had 100% (relative to the oils) fragrance oil. I imagine it would make it really soft and clay-like and very, very fragrant 😳
And probably burn off the top layer of skin😄@@SoapUniverse
Did you get the worst headache ever? I felt a headache coming on just thinking about all those smells D: I am very surprised it behaved so well and didn't go off the rails at some point. Also, use your baby blender! BLEND YOUR TRUTH!!! :D
If I were stuck in a room with the soap I would probably get a headache at some point (from dehydration due to being stuck in a room, not from the fragrance 😂)
Fragrances actually don’t bother me very much! The Snowberries one I used makes me sneeze, but that’s about it. Also, I need “Blend Your Truth” embroidered, please!
