    Hey narges I am western-Iranian girl... Whatever that means. ..anyway I'd like to tell you that the 'dating' you think happens in west is so not perfect. Ok I can see the problems with the iranian way but there are huge problems with the western way too. People get married very late here and no one commits until they absolutely musttt, I.e they want children. So forget about it if you want to marry your love and go for trips around the world enjoying yourselves for years before kids. This doesnt happen often. People have a partner for few years and then split up. Some people make it work and live their happily every after but it doesn't seem all that common. There is nothing holding a relationship together here. No family and no religion people want comfort and to do what makes them feel right ( which is understandable of course). I am not religous at all and because of the dating scene here I am scared to get into a relationship with a guy because I dont want to be heart broken and I want to be married and have commitment. I never fell in love but I hope if I do ,it is to a nice man who want to marry me.

      Hi homie 🙋🌷
      I didn't say the western way was "so perfect"!
      At least you won't need to hide anything from your parents and worry about keeping your damn virginity.
      Sorry but I sort of hate it when some people in the west insist that "here there are problems too", I KNOW! But there IS a bloody difference.

      @@NarsFromMars I think maybe I wasnt so clear. I am iranian but born and raised in west. So it means that my parents have some iranian expectations from me how to live my life. So no I cannot do the dating the way you think and no I cannot have bf for a few years then break up etc until I find the 'one'. On top of this I am non religious so my prospective husband pool is very small. Who am I going to marry who is not religious but wants commitment. ? It's rare, at least until age 35 its rare at least.

      @@fapo9379 It sucks to have to meet parents' expectations. They ruin too many chances; I've been there and I know. I think financial independence would help with the situation. I myself have to live with them, so it's 'their house, their rules' as I said.

      Modern western dating is degenerate.
      Sex must come after marriage but almost every man here thinks he has the priviledge to make love to you even when you're not comfortable with that/ it's against your philosophy or religion.
      That's why I'd only date honest, respectable, serious Christian men, not the players.

    Good Evening Narges! Interesting video of marriages and super informative you are. I'm from the United States 🇺🇲, born and raised and I come from a Hispanic background as my parents are both from Latin America. I have never been married myself but I was engaged to be married a long time ago when I was 22 years old as I was dating a woman a few years older than me and she had proposed to me out of the blue, which I said "Yes" to the proposal question. Eventually, we went our separate ways about a year later. I'll be 36 in November but I feel like when it's with the right woman, I'll feel it. In my perspective, I feel like to have sex with the person is because you feel comfortable with them, you like or love the person, and have good chemistry. If the person is someone who you can see yourself with long term, it's good to express it to the other person hoping that the feeling is mutual. Stay beautiful, Narges 🌹

I do have a question for you: is the merrieh (dowry) really mandatory when you get married in Iran, or is it more a traditional way and habit? I mean, does the merrieh is the law for getting married in Iran or are persian girl protected with other systems? Ciao cara!
      Well, dowry is the 'jahizie', all the STUFF the girl has to take with her. Different in different parts of Iran. Mehrie is the marriage portion, which is what the guy has to give the woman "whenever she wants it", but as I said usually it's talked about only when it comes to divorce.
      To be honest, you've got an advantage: you're not an Iranian citizen; so you ARE protected. But Iranian women.....

      We're 85 million people over here and I wouldn't like to overgeneralise anything, so my advice is to get to know your partner more and analyse them/their family 'on an individual basis' (everyone should do this and I think it helps fight many of our biases).

      @NarsFromMars  3 года назад

      Quite a comprehensive question....
      In a nutshell, the rules are in favour of men over here. The right to decide about divorce is men's. It means in 99% of the cases it's not the court that decides: the husband can say "i will/won't agree to divorce you".
      When it comes to divorce, the husband is supposed to pay the Mehrieh (part of his property/arbitrary amount of gold etc agreed upon at the time of marriage), but because it's the husband who decides about divorce, sometimes the wife would say I don't wabt anything, just let me go.....
      Amendment. Yes, the 2 can agree on something, for example the right to decide about divorce for the wife, and add it to the marriage contract.
      Permission. Yeah, legally speaking, the 1st wife's permission is needed even for a temporary 2nd marriage (basically it's you wanting to have sex with another woman but want to make it religiously ok in front of God!!!!!), but it happens a lot even without the permission. Don't know how! Really.
      Continuing education. Well, things ARE changing over here and most young couples aren't that traditional, ao usually there would be no problems....

      Exactly. Mehrieh is the polite word for "bride price" 🥺🥺🥺 It's a problem for both parties. If Iranian marriage was like the western marriage no Mehrieh would be needed: everything they have would be divided half-half. Plus, it's the court who decides on divorce n it's rights. But here? Every right is for men, so the girl needs the Mehrie to use as a "safe measure" in case the man doesn't agree to divorce. A firend of mine did this: i don't want anything n just let me go....🥺
      On the other hand, the amount would be too much if the guy has to pay🥺 U know, a corrupt system is bad for both parties. Everything MUST change some day.

    I think some of the things you said about this are based solely on your perception and not on real facts. First of all, I don't think all customs are completely illogical. These are not just Iranian customs at all, this practice of meeting people has been the rule all over the world. The case you described is more extreme, I watched a documentary about Iran and dating through an agency and many people found their happiness in life that way. Also, you can't compare test driving a car with human relationships. I live in Eastern Europe but I have the opportunity to travel a lot, and what I have seen meeting people is that many girls have psychological problems (emotional baggage) due to failed relationships from the past. So your story of a western way (meeting someone, having relationship and then living happily ever after) sounds more like a fairy tale. And the divorce rate is also high in Western countries. Personally, I'm not very conservative, but I think that both ways have their advantages and disadvantages, some customs may be a bit impractical nowadays, but we shouldn't call illogical something we don't like, if someone wants to lead their life that way. Although our views differ on this, I respect your opinion and I will follow the channel, I have been interested in Iranian culture and language for a long time, and I'll be happy to watch every new video you release.

      1. Hello and thanks for your comment 😊☘️
      2. The test drive analogy was a "Gabby" joke (Desperate Housewives) about having sex before marriage. I strongly believe you can't just "wish" or "hope" for having sexual comparability with your future spouse.
      3. I never said "the Western way" is perfect and always lead to "a fairy tale" as you said. Maybe if you watch my other video you'll understand me more: "I'm divorced, officially single, and virgin".
      4. Thanks for the sub.

    • @zeljkokrsic1394
      @zeljkokrsic1394 2 года назад +1

      @@NarsFromMars "divorced, single and virgin" I think you're the first person ever to put these three words in the same sentence.
      I absolutely understand your arguments. I just don't think sexual compatibility is an equall to happy relationship. I'll tell you a story. My grandparents were in World War II, my grandfather as a soldier, and my grandmother as a nurse, they met after the war and got married immediately. They had absolutely nothing, they created everything from scratch while the whole country was completely destroyed. They knew nothing about sexual compatibility but they built a big family and a happy marriage, they lived for almost 100 years (they both died in 2010). It all depends on what you are looking for in life, but if you think too much about compatibility, the size of someone's hands and similar things, I am afraid that you will attract the wrong type of person. In any case, I hope that you will have a fulfilled life, alone or with someone, and that you will remain true to yourself.

When you sacrifice yourself every day for something bigger than yourself, then you give meaning to your life. Without that, over time, a person falls into depression and anxiety. It is at a much different scale than the issues here in the U.S., I won't try to minimize that. I guess it's just...the U.S. anthem ends with "o'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave!", and it's true, we enjoy alot more freedom than other nations and that extends to how we conduct our intimate relationships. But even with these freedoms, we've still ended up with far less desirable outcomes when it comes to dating, marriage, and family life here... I am currently studying Farsi because my bestfriend is Iranian and I have to say I am shocked by your video.
    First of all why would one want to give his/her virginity to someone without commitment... I am sorry but I prefer traditional cultures in that regard. The overcontrolling aspect in Iran is terrible but tbh is very specific to Islam (none of that in my religion and I am very religious). I am sorry that people go through that. But the way the West is going where people sleep with 30 people before marriage is really bad as well.
    I am also shocked you’d use such an expression as „Buying a car without a test drive” that’s such a horrible way to talk about what is supposed to be the most intimate thing between two human beings. You complain about the inhumane and illogical way of approching marriage in Islamic culture but what you promote is just as evil. Look at studies on hookup culture and its devastating effects on the western youth.
    If two people love each other they will make their sexual life work, no need for „testing” we are humans with feelings not robots. In my religion forced marriages are not allowed and it is a decision taken by two people who are in love and want to raise their children in the faith. Parents have little two say although their benediction is appreciated. There is a world between radical Islam and the madness of liberalism you know.
    I hope Iran leaves radical Islam but I for one doesn’t wish at all for it to become like the West where people (and especially women) are treated like sexual objects. Good luck.
