Thanks for publishing this! We are currently awaiting our first time mom pig to give birth. Thankfully, this is not our first time taking care of pregnant guinea pigs, we had a different mom who gave birth to 3.
@@LuxTheFrog They can surprise you! She might pop out a few huge ones instead. Make sure you take her to the vets regularly while she is pregnant. My girl almost died giving birth, which is very common. If the babies are too big or there's too many of them, she will need a C-section.
I rescued 4 piggies that was dumped out in the freezing cold weather and in water by the pond. We rescued them although I have never rescued a piggie before. I rescue a lot of animals but never a piggie! I have prayed God would help give me the knowledge how to take care of them. poor Thumbelina :( This is a bittersweet video; amazing to see how Hazel pulled through, when 2 or 3 is the average litter size, she's a super mum! But it's sad to think that due to someones carelessness Hazel had to put her body through so much stress and poor Thumbelina had to die. there were then 7 more piggies in need of new homes, on top of all those other hundreds of thousands in need of a forever home. Two females are fine together. Wild G-Pigs (cavies) live in communities-- they are very social. I had two females that had babies at the same time, and they nursed each other's babies. Also, you don't have to worry about disturbing a guinea pig mom when she's in labor-- she won't eat her young, the way some hamsters and gerbils do if they are disturbed. Babies are born fully furred and running around. Gestation is as long as a dog or cat's. Your pig probably won't have 8! That's very rare!
my cousin had a guinea that gave birth to 7 pigletts, one of them was like the one with the flat head and spread out legs and he was the runt and as far we know he out lived his siblings, he's about 3 or 4 now and still going strong!

Thanks for sharing the info about the music. I was shocked when I heard the first song as I've NEVER heard anyone outside my family playing it! However, I've also only ever heard it played and sung by Don Fransisco. Oh, and the piggies are absolutely adorable!!!
That's so sad the little one didn't make it! I used to have a guinea pig when I was little. It passed away from old age. My friend just bought a little baby guinea pig and it's super cute!!! I think I might have to get another one soon :)
I love guinea pigs. i have two, from pet stores because they need homes too. they breed them themselves at the one store and the other gets them from local people. Someday mine will have babies too =)
The most my piggie has had is 4. That was her first litter. Bella done so good with the first 3 but when the fourth one came I guess she didn't break the sack to get it out in time and it passed away. She has had 4 litters since then and I've completely stopped her from breeding. She's getting old now and she needs her rest. I recently lost one of her babies and it killed me to have to bury her. Cookie, Fluffy, and cinnamon. 2 boys, 1 girl. cookie is the only one still alive. snowball was 3, fluffy and cinnamon were 2
Don Francisco's "He's Alive" is never out of season. Besides, today is Holy Week, and Resurrection Day is Sunday 😁 I enjoyed the video, it's the first time I've seen it.
God, my little lady gave birth at 14 weeks and had 5 (4 surviving) she was not yet a month old when I got another boy (thinking Oreo was a boy) and I thought she had a real gaggle of them. Now I have 5 boys and my little lady. Seriously, I got Oreo November 30th she was 4 days old (thanks PetCo you suck you're not supposed to sell them till 3-4 months old) age was estimated by my vet who is a small animal exotic vet whom I took her to after she gave birth. Then she had Twix (actual boy) come in to be with her on January 16th when my other piggy died (he was a male but inbred and sterile) and the babies are obviously Twix's based on the coloring. Poor Mama was (5 weeks old) and he screwed her good and she got pregnant (obviously) and had babies 68 days (barely 2 months later) March 23rd, 2019. All but one baby lived. I called the pet store steaming angry about their mis-sexing! They offered to take her back but they can't sell her! I am like "What will you do with her?" they were like "We will get rid of her and the babies" meaning put them down. I said f***ing kick rocks. They offered no food or bedding to help only a 1-time-offer 10% discount! I get more than that on Chewy.com and free delivery over $35 purchase! I get my stuff on there and spend $400-450 a month on all 6 of them! I had no idea what kind of home they'd go to, so I kept them all! Best choice of my life! The babies are closing in on 9 months and are name Reese's Peanut Butter Cup (RPB who is disabled he didn't get enough of the sac and he is slow but he is healthy at 1 lb 4 ounces and won't get bigger but I love him the same), S'Mores, Licorice, and Snickers. I have Licorice/Snickers as a pair and Reese/Smores as a pair. Daddy (Twix) is separated by a divider after his kids turned on him and bloodied him and sent him to the vet 3x over --- I thought it was a phase till the vet said it's permanent separate them so I did) then Mama has a place... I will get her a friend when I move out next year but my parents are like NO MORE PIGS period or they all go... she is my lady so she gets daily attention from me despite being single... this time I'll make sure it's another girl so she doesn't have babies after her hip bones fuse (that's deadly)! :( Guinea pigs are resilient animals and I am happy Hazel is OK as my Mama Oreo piggy is! :) Guinea pigs rock!
I did that with all the pigs. But Thumbalina was similar to a premature baby. She would not suck. She wouldn't even suck from the dropper. i had to put a few drops in her mouth at a time. I put Mr. Bill alone with mom several times a day until "he" gained strength- but good idea- great mind think alike :)

My guinea pigs were put in separate cages side by side. every day we came downstairs snowball was in rascle's cage and my mom thought i did it. so one night when we went downstairs we actually saw her jump into the other cage. 2 months later she gave birth to triplets. Cookie, Fluffy, and cinnamon. 2 boys, 1 girl. cookie is the only one still alive. snowball was 3, fluffy and cinnamon were 2
God Bless Thumbilina. 😇
Don Francisco's "He's Alive" is never out of season. Besides, today is Holy Week, and Resurrection Day is Sunday 😁
I enjoyed the video, it's the first time I've seen it.
Guinea pigs are resilient animals and I am happy Hazel is OK as my Mama Oreo piggy is! :) Guinea pigs rock!
I also have to girl guinea pigs and do hope to have more soon because they are the most adorable thing in the world!
Beautiful video ! So cute
I did that with all the pigs. But Thumbalina was similar to a premature baby. She would not suck. She wouldn't even suck from the dropper. i had to put a few drops in her mouth at a time. I put Mr. Bill alone with mom several times a day until "he" gained strength- but good idea- great mind think alike :)
those guinea pig are beautiful
