- Mama Iris gives birth to babies three and four. Number four is little Poppy, we were not expecting her! Doctor thought she had three. Iris cleans the sac off the babies expertly. She has given birth before, but only two survived. This time all four babies are thriving. I think feeding mama critical care helped a lot.

Here it is 2021 and I still have baby Poppy, the last baby born. And Parsley, the only boy.
Sadly Iris and Piper are in Heaven. We don’t know about Petunia, she went to a new home. So we did end up keeping almost all of them.

Its so astonishingly amazing how independent these tiny ones come out. A minute old and baby is already giving his little face a wash and scratching his precious little ear! Guinea pigs are such wonderful joyous creatures

The yucky part is the bodily fluids and her eating all that stuff off her babies. It’s also yucky to a lot because as humans we don’t lick our kids to clean them, so watching her do it is kinda gross. Yes it’s all natural and beautiful but also gross. That’s not a bad thing lmao

I’m glad I watched this because I’ve been so nervous about when my guinea pig has to give birth, but this made me a little less nervous! Anyways she is a great mommy!❤️❤️ I also love how she’s trying to tend to all of them at once.
Hi! Always glad to help and answer any questions you have. Iris was an experienced mama. I still have Poppy and Parsley.
She will lay around a lot more. When it is time she will start to turn in circles and squeak. At that point she’ll be having her babies. Feed her lots she needs it. When my rescue Piggies were pregnant or nursing I fed them critical care mixed with sweet potato baby food at least 30 mL a day.

I remember when my Cookie had 5 crumbs. 4 boys, 1 little runt girl. We kept the little girl with her momma, but we sent the boys away because didn’t want more, lol. What an amazing experience. ☺️

That is actually completely normal. And that is also the regular normal size guinea pigs are born. They arent big for a guinea pig at all

Hi! I’ve just bred guinea pigs 2 very healthy pigs and the momma really is massive so definitely about to deliver! We already have many locals in search of pigs which is great as they are going to people who genuinely want the pet. I was just wondering if the mom happens to give birth at night when I’m not watching is there a high chance of problems or does it usually go swiftly like yours as this is my first ( of probably many!) litters :)
How old is mama? My girls all gave birth when we were home. Afternoon or evening. Birth can happen anytime. Make sure mama isn’t constantly bred please take papa away now. She will need all her strength for the babies. After the babies are weaned (three weeks)separate the males and females. I will talk to my breeder friend also.
Ok she said good to wait two weeks after weaning to breed again.
My girls all squeaked loudly, turned in circles and it began. Papa will only drive her crazy so get him out. Princess had to run to get Maple to fall out! If she isn’t done after an hour call the vet!!

It’s funny cuz I was at my grandmas house swimming and I told her that when I come home I would come home to babies and I came home And the was 3 babies and we got to see the runt being born

Both. She needs the nutrition. 20-30ccs everyday before birth. After, as much as she wants, up to 60 ccs a day. Divide up into three to four feedings.

No. 3 was huge! Usually don't survive the birthing process when that large. Often times you'll see a runt mixed in which suggests more nutrients went to the bigger pup. Lover their markings. Hopefully they went to a good home!
They did. I kept the male, his name is Parsley. My friend has Poppy and Piper.

Also to help her with milk production I would feed Iris critical care mixed with sweet potato baby food . It really helped her to feed the four babies. If you have any questions I’m happy to help. I fed her 40 cc’s a day (syringe fed).

All three mamas turned in circles and gave short, loud squeaks. One had to run across the cage to get baby Maple to fall out, he was big! Let me know how things are going.
i bought a black and white one from bills pet shop not knowing she was pregnant already and i had her about a month and saturday she had 3 babys but its crazy one is brown and white and the other 2 look solid black.

Wow this is so beautiful! My guinea pig George is heavily pregnant! It will be 59 days on Saturday so eek! This is her second time pregnant (due to a mistake) and we missed her giving birth the first time but i want to watch the birth this time around so I was wondering what the squeal sounds like just as she is going into labour. Does it sound like their squeal for food? Please help x :)

4. Are you sure your vets are not seeing anyone? All our vets are seeing patients. Check the web. Call them. Some vet will help you I am sure.

Shes around 14 weeks old.
We tried to keep the male away from her but we usally leave them in a play pen cage from time to time so there not lonely (big mistake?) And so they get exercise.We've Rang the vets and theyve said that they cant really do anything as they're only acepting the most servere pets.Is there any advice for comforting her?or is it ok to just let her do her part ? Thanks for asking .
Please don’t leave them together. If she isn’t pregnant now she will be if you let them alone! She may not be pregnant but if she is she should be just fine. But please keep the male away unless you want a lot of trouble! Is the male her brother??they must be kept apart. Can you rehome your male and get her a female friend? I’m confused as to why you have a male female pair.

I have a question. My guinea pig is going to have pups soon and I don't know if I should leave her hut in the cage while she gives birth or take it out. When I got her about 60 days ago they said she was a young male, and they had her in the male cage. Well they were wrong and now I'm going to be a guinea pig Grama and I don't know what to do. I've been watching all the videos I can find but nobody says anything about a gut being in the cage. I would really appreciate some help. Thank you
As long as it’s a good size she can give birth in there. I was home when my rescue piggies gave birth, so took the house out to film. They squeak and turn in circles during labor. Seemed to like more room. But after pups are born they like a nice sized hidey.

@@kayesguineapigs Hi so I was talking to you through another comment I think and I told you mine was pregnant well she had a baby boy and a girl my friend who’s had way more experience with sexing them than me said that he was a girl well I trusted her as I diddnt really know what I was doing with sexing young pigs well it turned out he was a boy and got the mum pregnant again.... 🥲🧐

@@kayesguineapigs it was quite sad for us we noticed she was struggling to have her baby’s (she was two and we got her when she was pregnant) we took her down and the town vet was closed! Then we called another they were open but didn’t do guinea pigs. So we ended up going to unique pet vet and they said that her babies were probably dead already and because of her age it was best to just put her down otherwise it was going to cost $1700 to get the removal of the uterus or it was $2500 for them to keep her uterus in there we decided we just put her down because she had lived an okay length life and she was kind of having trouble anyways like and she was kind of always even just after we just got her she was kind of having trouble walking but she was fine nothing wrong with her she was just getting old like that not even older for a guinea pig but she just acted like seven or something

We my guinea pig is gonna have her puppies sometime tonight because she’s laying around a lot more than usual, she looks really tired and more stuff but I can’t be bothered writing the symptoms and I’m so exited for her its going to be her first litter and tbh I’m really nervous I want to make sure they are well looked after and wait... ⚠️ WARNING THIS MIGHT BE SAD TO SOME PEOPLE⚠️ Once when our other piggie had a pups she had three they were all struggling because something was wrong with them and I tried looking after them (the mum rejected them) I got attached to one and then the mamas took them in again they were getting better but then they started getting worse and then as I was holding one it died so it had died in my hands and it was the one I loved soooooo much I was devastated, she was helping the others get through and because of this the others were struggling and later they sadly passed away!
I’m so sorry! That’s heartbreaking. Hopefully this litter does well. Check out my “Mocha and her babies” playlist. She didn’t know what to do with her babies either. I put them under her to nurse. When they started, her Mama instincts kicked in and she became a good Mama.
@@kayesguineapigs it’s good to hear she became a good mama it was very sad that ours passed away but I guess that there could have been something wrong with them and they might have struggled later on if they were to have survived, one of them had it’s ear bitten off from one of the other mamas so I think that might have affected her later on. So far my guinea pig that’s about to have hers hasn’t had them yet but she’s missing not having the father there she has another female with her but she’s missing her ‘Mate’ so I’m not sure if I should put him back in for a while? What do you think about it?
I think it’s best not to have him in there. Piggies can get pregnant again soon after giving birth. Back to back litters are very bad for the health of the mama. And he could get the other female pregnant too.

Ok, so that was amazing...I just have to find out. What to feed my pregnant GP. I think she’s pregnant but the vet will inform me in a week...I just got her from another home for my bored guineapig who is a girl as well so it’ll be an adventure. Lol
I recommend Oxbow hay and pellets. I fed my pregnant sows critical care mixed with sweet potato baby food (one container with a heaping tablespoon of critical care and some water to make one cup.). One of my sows was underweight so she ate 40 to 50 mls per day (10-15 ml at each of up to four feedings a day). If your sow is normal weight, 20 ccs a day is good. Also, liquid vitamin C one ml per day. Continue to do this after the babies are born to help her milk production. Then she can have 40-50 ccs;(mls) each day she will be hungry when she’s nursing.
Iris was a pro mama. Mocha needed a little help;I put her babies under her. They began to nurse and her mama instincts kicked in. She was a great mama after that. Princess was a pro too. I have playlists of all three.

My guinea pig is pregnant and you can feel the babies kicking. We had xrays and the dr said it looks like 3 babies. She said within the next week or less (by Sunday, today is Tuesday) she will give birth. Can anyone tell me the signs when she is within 1-3 hours of birth?
She will not want to eat, she will lay in one place and pant. When it starts she may squeak and turn in circles. Princess had to run across the cage dragging baby #1 out, he was so big. I didn’t post that! Honestly it’s hard to tell because Princess lay around panting a lot the last few days before birth. Our vet saw the babies on Xrays she gave birth a week later.
When she’s nursing it’s a good idea to feed her veggie baby food mixed with critical care. Princess has two feedings of 10 to 15 ml each time. Those babies are hungry! Also vitamin C supplement.

Kaye's Guinea Pigs I’m really wanting the birth to happen when I’m home. She is becoming more still and eating very little now. She is hiding more as well. I saw a little movement on her lower end close to exit. I’m not sure how much longer she has but I really hope it’s soon. She is also being unusually quiet and not chirping

I adopted her from a family that was tired of breeding. I think she was about three she had had several litters and I promised her this would be her last. it was. Sadly, however, she did not live long past the babies weaning. she was just tired out…. I loved her. Her name was Iris.

So When shes ready to give birth, she should be on a soft blanket and not woodchips or hay or anything??
If possible. There should always be hay at all times. I’ve seen plenty of videos of piggies giving birth on wood bedding. I just prefer them to be on flannel.

I've had guinea pigs but never bred them, I didn't realize the babies would be so big.
We didn’t breed her, she was a pregnant rescue piggie. We don’t breed.

No the mama takes care of all the cleaning.I would never bathe tiny piggies. If they needed it I’d take them to the vet!

Hi Kaye! I've learned a lot from watching your wonderful videos, this was beautiful. I adopted 3 girl piggies and 1 is already pregnant, they are 4 months old, I was wondering do I keep the girls in their c&c cage together or do I have to separate the sisters when their sister gives birth? I'm happy but nervous, this is the first time experiencing this and I want to do the correct things for my girls. I really would appreciate any advice you can give me!! Thank you so much!!!😊
A lot of people will tell you that it’s OK to leave females with mom and pups. I don’t agree. The mother gets upset with the other sows so I would separate her and the babies from the others. If you adopted three girls and one is pregnant, forgive me, but it sounds like you’ve got a male in the mix! 🤪 Unless she came to you pregnant.

Can you divide the cage they are in? Is it big enough? Otherwise I’d put mom and babies in a different cage. If you’re planning on keeping the babies you’ll want to keep the daughters with mom so I don’t know if they could go back in the herd. Make sure to take the male babies out at three weeks because at that age they can impregnate their mom and sisters. I even had a little guy that started rumble strutting and shaking his little bum before three weeks and I took him out! Fortunately, I have a good nanny boar so he didn’t cry for his mom.

My female is pregnant at 8 month old .. im so scared 😂 i know a few things but im scared she will have a complication 🫠
She should be just fine. I recommend getting some critical care powder and mix a tablespoon of that with a container of sweet potato baby food and some water. Feed her like 10 mL a day you can get needle less syringes at Walgreens for free. After she has the babies give her as much as she wants and this will help her to produce good milk. You can also give her liquid vitamin C, one ml per day: Child life liquid vitamin C on Amazon.

I'm really scared for my guinea pig, she is pregnant and I read it is common that they die or the babies die..
How old is she? Has she had babies before? As a Christian I do pray for my piggies. That helps. I also took them to the vet to see how many babies. That is a bit pricey. But I’m glad I did.

In March my guinea pig got pregnant again I think she had the babies because I'm with my dad and she's at my mom's house and I leave tomorrow so I'll see her again

Charles Sanders I’m so sorry she passed away of kidney failure. I still have her son and my friend has one of her daughters.

The vet part I have not took her to the vet before because I just got her and I did not expect her to get pregnant so fast
I’m so not ready for this I found out tonight that my bloated male guinea pig is a very pregnant female expected to give birth in the next few days. I have no idea what I’m doing I’m terrified. Breeding was the last thing I wanted that’s why I got two of the same sex or tried to get two of the same sex. I don’t know what I’m gonna do I don’t have space for any more animals in my house I don’t know anyone that wants guinea pigs I guess they’re gonna have to go to the Humane Society. I’m freaking out

Thank you so much mom has done a great job she’s about 10 months old at this point. All the babies went to the vet and that said they all looked good and that I have two boys and a girl the girl I’m definitely gonna keep not sure about the boys yet but so far so good. I’ve already given her dad up for adoption so at three weeks I will be putting the two boys in the spare cage.
