your guinea pig is tame, I have two guinea pigs with ringworm that spent the first 2 years in a cardboard box in some kid's room, they're almost feral. they are really hard to bathe, but this video does help. thanks saskia!

My Guinea pig died last year, and this video brought back a lot of memories. He hated baths. He would always scramble up me onto my shoulder the second he was out of the sink. I had to catch him because he would just throw himself off of the counter. They’re such lovely creatures even though they’re not very intelligent, and anyone who says hamsters or rats are better has never been truly loved by a Guinea pig.
I feel Butternut is the one of your pigs, that likes bathing the most. A true lady always enjoys being well groomed. ;) I always love to see her fluffy in the end too. She's almost twice her usual size. xD
this is amazing and super help full! i just wanna point out a few things! (not hating!!) 1. you don’t need to bathe a guinea pig. in fact, you should really only bathe them if they get muddy, or have like a pimple or somthing that popped. 2. just make sure they are comfortable with the bath. DO. NOT. Hes perfectly fine, but piggies get pneumonia easily so i was extra careful. Your buddy seems to be dealing with the odd sensations of water and soap really well!! Absolutely adorable!!
Beautiful video! Diluting shampoo in the water is really sensible. Behind the ears is fine, but IN the ears is not! Loved how your quiet, gentle approach kept your piggy calm. I wouldn't advise routinely washing every 3 months unless your piggy has a particular problem with scurfy skin, mites or dirty backside - it interferes with the natural oils in their coat.
I gave my first ever guinea her first ever bath just now. Even the treats weren't enough to make her happy afterward, but she is clean and warm now. ❤😂
Also make sure they have a decently sized cage. They need lots of room to roam around whether they are on the floor or not. Make sure you buy a good bit of timothy hay. @@meganacosta4445 I suggest only bathing where it’s dirty, be absolutely careful not to get soapy water in the guinea pig’s eyes, you can gently wipe the head if it has yellow stains on the head or the back, if wipes don’t work don’t scrub, gently massage *safe* soap in the guinea pigs fur where it is dirty, make sure the water isn’t hot or too cold, and you can try to feed your guinea pig in bath time to calm it Edit: If your guinea pig is easily frightened I suggest only soaking the tummy, and not covering the guinea pig with water.
