UPS 747-8F Destroys Tyres & Aborts Takeoff at Cologne Bonn Airport

- A UPS Boeing 747-8F aborts its take off roll at Cologne Bonn Airport - CGN, due to steering/rudder issue whilst throttling up. As you can see, the pilots commanded a left steering input but the nose wheels didn't bite the runway and steer the plane, thus causing the tyres to rub against the runways surface and create the smoke you see in the video. The aircraft taxied back around and after approximately 15 minutes, it took off for good
Filmed on Sunday 27th February 2022 from the besucherterrace and CGN

Looks like he forget to lock the front gear 🤣
Great Video, right time right place Mate 🙏👌
Thanks 👍
That sucks. Great catch from the pilots. Sorry folks, your UPS packages are gonna have a slight delay. haha
You say he destroys his tyres!….did they change them in 15 minutes? That’s pretty good going!
Did the pilot turn the tiller to the left by mistake?
Maybe.... Or else technical issue
Looks like the gear didn't grip the runway surface, as it was frightfully cold that day, as the pilots corrected with a left hand turn. Only when they reduced power did the tyre grip and the aircraft steered back onto the centre line
@@MTAviation so is it because of Cold whether ?
What the heck did they put a new one on
They taxied round and took off again 15 minutes later
Actually nothing wrong with the nosewheel ( at least beforehand! ), This was caused by uneven spool up of the outboard engines from idle to takeoff power.
Seems a bit sketchy to just takeoff again...
The different lighting between the first attempt and second suggests a decent amount of time has passed. It would have returned to the apron and be checked over by engineering before getting a green light to fly
I guess the crew didn't know what happened
The aircraft taxied round and took off approximately 15 minutes after the incident in the video, so didn't go back to stand to get it checked
Well, that explains why my package is stuck in Germany.. first labor dispute and now the UPS plane .. come on.
Terrible joke
Rare catch...
Technical glitch i say...
