  • In this field test of the brand new Canon Compact-Servo 70-200mm T4.4, we show what can be done when a staple zoom range of the industry is refined and perfected for cinema or ENG use. The new 70-200mm brings fully manual controls, but also allows for fully automatic zoom controls at the flip of a switch, making it an excellent documentary or ENG lens as well. With 4K-ready optics, this lens is incredibly sharp, and creates beautiful images suitable for cinema production.

    The focus breathing amount though between this and the L lens was almost identical...I get that it is an important aspect for a cine lens, I 100% agree, but that performance from this very expensive piece of glass was quite disappointing and contrary to what your narrator was saying.

      I agree

      Yes, I completely agree. Nevertheless, could you give me examples of situations where focus breathing kill a movie? I understand that every experts agree that minimal focus breathing is important, but no one knows and explain why?

      @@miklosnemeth8566 In cases where the breathing is really bad it can change the composition of the shot slightly. But I do agree that I don't mind minimal breathing in a lot of instances.

    As for focus breathing at 1:46 I can see exactly the same amount of breathing on both the EF as well as the CN-E lenses. I agree with many other reviewers, that as for focus breathing the CN-E 70200 behaves like a photography lens. Actually, I don't see it a major issue at all. Even this video doesn't explain why focus breathing is a major issue in videography? I guess Canon's product managers decided to allow this level of focus breathing as a compromise to keep the cost low, fast AF, IS, parfocal internal zoom and small size.

      I was between this one and the Fujinon MK, which is t2.9 and with no focus breathing.

    What is the working distance of this camera and lens combo. The 70-200mm on a super 35 lens. I just want to know how far it’ll reach?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  6 месяцев назад

      The crop factor of a super 35 sensor, like the one used in the C300, is 1.6x, so if you multiply 70 by 1.6, and 200 by 1.6, you would get the effective focal lengths of the Canon CN-E 70-200mm T4.4 Compact-Servo Cine Zoom Lens, which would be 112-320mm.

    That breathing was extremely apparent.

      Yes; but look at the actors hair and side of his head during the focus pull. Huge difference in detail and clarity with the cinema lens.

    Is this lens compatible with Zcam E2?

      Yes. It is a compatible and recommended lens choice for the Z CAM E2-S6 EF-Mount Cinema Camera. >Mark

    The breathing is horrible with this lens. Buy the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM Lens instead for $1,099.00, get the same performance and save $4,701.00.

    Can this lens work with the canon c100

      This video was shot with a Canon C300 with this lens. The Canon C100 has the same EF lens mount and may be used with this lens as well. >Mark

      @@BandH I am filming with a C100 MK 2 and the lens won't communicate to with the camera. I cannot control iris or one shot auto focus on the camera body. Is there something I am missing?

    I shoot 99% TOY R/C model air planes and I never never want anything out of focus (Back round) Nothing. Now how do I accomplish that While ZOOMING with a DSLR or Mirrorless camera of any kind? Never met an auto focus worth it sault for this type of video they all hunt when videoing against the sky.
