Agh. The Elbe overalls I can't find. So adorable.
Hi. Thank you. Awesome and adorable outfits.
🤗
I've watched this one twice all the way through and will be going through it a third time to make notes and capture pictures. Excellent Excellent Excellent video! ❤❤❤
Wow! Thank you!! 🤗
@@thebigsewalong Honestly, after I watched it the first time, I spent the next couple of days thinking about it and knowing I had to take another look. Then I took another look and realized that I had to do some "homework" and capture my thoughts about it. I appreciate your videos very much. It's fun to watch you for many reasons. Not only your great personality, but you sew patterns I already have or ones that I see that I need! Your techniques tutorials and comments are ones that I appreciate as well. I totally identify with your obsession about buying patterns. Those pdfs you can get online are so addictive! I sent you three coffees after the first one but with a different name so you wouldn't know it was me. It was me! hahaha Have a lovely Sunday, and happy sewing!
I did NOT know it was you! Thank you so much! @@ctaylorluce
@@thebigsewalong hahaha yes, it gets tricky with different user names. You are VERY welcome :)
I seem to have been living under a rock and thankfully you have lifted it! I am now obsessed with Daniela Gregis. How I managed to exist without knowing her will be a riddle from now on. I love everything you show, but the Gregis just bowled me over. Thank you for your research and for linking everything!
😀😀😀
Hi 😂, this was such a fun episode. I loved all the eye candy. My goodness there were so many appealing looks. I haven’t followed the links yet and can’t wait. I’ll be interested in how the Juliet pants work for you. I really like the idea, but I think my legs are too short to pull it off. Karen Kline in the TG Workshop group has made quite a few of them. Have you seen the new TG summer sew patterns. The first one really appeals to me. The second one, Patsy I think it is called, looks a bit too full for me, but love them both. She is also about to add a new relaxed coat that I’m interested in. It looks lovely and unique. It is over sized, like most of her patterns, and looks similar to the one button short coat that you showed today. I too would like to see legging comparisons. I agree with others, that I would really appreciate a discussion about the fabrics you chose and how they worked out. So very nice to see you again. 😊❤️
Hi Judith!! yes I've been looking at those new TG patterns. the Patsy calls for 4 yards of fabric!! not sure where all of that's going so I'll have to take a closer look. Not familiar with the coat pattern she's releasing but I'll keep an eye out. I'll have these Juliette pants ready to show you next week I think they can work for us shorter gals but I'll wait to hear. what you all think 😂I'll get the leggings video going thanks so much for watching Judith always nice to hear from you
I was intrigued by the Injiri dresses. It appears that the embroidery is English smocking. I was putting the finishing touches on a smocked outfit for my baby granddaughter as I watched your video. In 1984, I made a smocked dress for myself from Vogue 8826, an Erica Wilson design. I used it as a maternity dress. I'm inspired to try the pattern again and use mixed prints as in the Injiri designs.
OMG I LOVE smocking!! I don't really know how to do it. Maybe I'll look and see if there's a RUclips video 'cause I really love the idea of incorporating that into some dresses.🤗
Opal Annie has a new hat pattern! I am going to Ashley my Matchy Matchy Horizons Day Dress by adding puff sleeves as the sleeve extension. Thanks for the inspiration!
thanks Phyllis I love that Opal Annie hat! That might be the one for me! Adding puff sleeves to that Horizons dress is a cute idea!! 🤗
Squee! 🥳 Looking forward to seeing your Juliette pants! I'm similarly 'vertically challenged' so also curious to see how they fit on you and any modifications you made.
Love all your fall inspo shots. That beautiful blue patchwork dress is what I had in my mind for the men's shirts in various blue patterns that I started thrifting (no fabric stores nearby😢). I had though of using the 'Work Dress' from Nani Iro's book for the pattern. Also particularly like the white blouse with ruffled neck and am very interested in a apron dress. I'm so completely besotted with the Kitty Apron Dress from Metta Melbourne that I'm ruminating how I could go about replicating it.
Ok now I'm intrigued going to go hunting for Metta Melbourne. I was thinking about doing something similar with a bunch of old shirts from my husband. They're all shades of blue some stripes some checks but I don't have enough yet. Hmmm I may supplement from the thrift...Love that Nani IRO shirt!!🤗
Broomstick skirts! I'm so old, gah. What an inspirational lineup - I particularly like all the Ichi garments. Thanks for all of this, Gini!
🤣I totally dated myself with that broomstick skirt comment didn't I? LOVE that Ichi stuff!!
@@thebigsewalong I loved it when you showed those luscious pictures and then talked about sewing patterns to get the look (most of which I have already). Great content.
Thanks for the inspiration Gini!
🤗
Thank you, Gini! I love your inspiration vids! I have been thinking positively about aprons lately. Remember a few years ago when Vogue had $$$ aprons featured? I think it takes me a little while to warm up to an idea. lol
I do remember those $$$ aprons! 🤩
Tauko has me loving several patterns, I'm in LOVE with that next to last super full sleeve dress❤❤ thanks for sharing all your lovely inspo!!
🤗
I’m a monogamous sewer too, not so much with knitting I’m afraid.🤣 As far as the Elicriso top, I am not a ruffle (or lace) person. I like the top, I might use some mini Pom Pom trim instead around those dangling pockets. I love the Departure dress/tunic, those sleeves are cool. Having a narrow shoulder and shorter arm, it will be challenging to figure how low to go with the shoulder and then will the sleeve be an awkward length? Hmmm. As far as leggings patterns, I would love a comparison between two. I have the Limestone Leggings pattern from Sew Liberated but haven’t made them. Like another commenter, I don’t know where to get some natural fiber knit that would be appropriate for leggings. I would love a print.💚 I loved all of your fab fall inspiration, when I saw the double collar shirt I immediately thought of the pattern called The Bloom Shirt & Dress by TFS. It’s got several collar variations, the ruffle collar could maybe be made double? I also don’t do challenges but I was thinking of entering the same challenge as I have made 2 bucket hats with a free pattern from Juliana Martejevs. Thank you Gini, you put me in a fall sewing mood. 🧡💛🍁
OMG that bloom shirt/dress is PERFECT! I'd never seen that! Ooooo and I REALLY need another pattern Karen so thanks 🤣also thanks for the hat pattern tip (at least that one is free 😂)
Leggings video is in the works 🤗
Love them all! I'm just finishing up another quilt and wanted to try that Tina Givens and another TG that I downloaded. Lol! Broomsticks Love them still😏. I too am trying to sew down my stash (and my mom's that I inherited) thanks for all the great ideas!! Very inspiring!
I inherited a stash of thread from my sister 16 years ago and I STILL have some 🤣
Great bunch of inspirational patterns thanks Gini. My favourite was the black and white gingham dress, but there was a lot there to think about!
🤗
I'd love the leggings options. I have been using a dress pattern that included a leggings pattern. McCalls M7122. It is super simple - only one pattern piece. With a foldover casing for the elastic waistband.
👍
So inspirational. I adore your aesthetic. Thank you.
🥰
Love the injiri garments! Wonderful inspirations here…thank you!
Thanks Tobie I'm glad you like them. I'm really in love with their mixing of fabrics.
I look forware to seeing what you create this fall based off of this great inspiration! Elbe textiles has a bucket hat and broader brimmed hat--I've made both and the patterns are excellent
Oh thanks for the pattern tip!! I love elbe textiles and I'm sure I've seen that bucket hat before but had completely forgotten about it 🤗
Loved everything! Especially the cream/black stripe pinafore at the end. That reminds me, Folkwear has their Pinafore pattern on sale. They also have instructions for an alternate view which has great possibilities. I picked up some fabrics the past couple days that I was going to sell but after seeing those patchwork dresses I may end up keeping them. Yep, just what I need, more fabric, lol!
I'm going to go check on the folkwear pinafore right now! Yes Charlotte more fabric! Just what we all need 🤣but I'm glad you found some inspiration for patchwork!🤗
Suggestion for hat pattern Aura Guignard Chapeau e'toile Sun Hat. It's a different shaped bucket hat. I got it on Etsy. Also, Yes! Leggings comparison, please.
HI Kristina no idea how I missed a hat from Aura I thought I'd seen everything from her! I'm going to go check it out right now. And thanks for the vote on a leggings video 🤗
This was a fun video! I’d love a legging comparison! But mostly I’d love to see what fabrics you rely on and how they hold up! Thanks as always! 😊
Love your inspirational ideas. Would enjoy a leggings comparison.
Perfect!! I'll get to work on it. Thanks 🤗
The Megan Nelson Sudley dress is a pattern you might be interested in. I made one with the Peter Pan collar, ommitted the keyhole, raised the waist an inch or two, and lowered the skirt.
Thanks Sonya I've never made the Sudley but I've always really liked it.Now you've inspired me to take a close look 🤗
So many great looks! I too love different fabrics patched together to make cloth for a garment. I still have some basic top & dress patterns from the late '80s - early '90s which utilized this style. Recently I saw someone wearing a mid-calf loose flowy dress which looked to be made from several different cuts from the hand-stamped Indian cottons, wish I'd asked her where she bought it, or perhaps she made it. The UK company Sew Different just released a new line of dresses and one coat/robe that use 2 or more fabrics. The samples they made are from Jaipur Indian cotton, they are very nice.
I have to go check out the new patterns from Sew Different. I haven't been to her site for a while so thanks for the tip. Stone Mountain has a small selection of Indian block prints but nothing in colors I really love. Any ideas where else to find them?
Thank you for the flip through, some gorgeous patterns. I am following your tutorial for the Assembly line over size shirt, it is so helpful, I would have been stuck in a few places without your help, so thank you very much ! Waves and wild has a free bucket hat pattern, goes in size child to XL and I’ve seen favourable reviews. A legging pattern review would be very interesting, thanks again, Bridget
I'm glad you're finding the shirt video helpful Bridget I haven't seen the hat from waves and wild. I'll go check it out now thanks for the suggestion 🤗
Thanks for the fall inspiration. I saw a few things that I loved. It seems like cute collars are trending. I’m thinking it would be fun to have some that could be removable and then you can switch them out. Like the old men’s shirts that had removable collars and cuffs.
OH I LOVE the idea of removable collars!!
Do you remember a TV show years ago named Fashion Stat? It was on NBC and the judges were buyers from big stores. Anyway, the eventual winner made the cutest removable collar with long ties that I've thought about for years. She got dinged for making an accessory instead of clothing but eventually won.. even had one of her dresses made into a pattern. I think it's McCalls, I have it somewhere. Never sewed it but it's fantastic!
Loved all the inspirations but for me, I absolutely hate Peter Pan collars. I cannot find anything flattering about them beyond 8 yrs old. Just me I suppose. Loved the gingham checks which would be fun to work in various colours and fabrics A great post.
Thanks Nan, that's so funny about the Peter Pan collars my mom says the same thing 🤣but not everything can be for everyone right? I'm glad you liked the other ideas. Love the idea of mixed ginghams!! And so many good colors available now. 🤗
Would love a leggings comparison and to see if you've found a good source for solid color leggings fabric. Thought of you when happened upon Ready To Sew's newest pant pattern. Never made anything from her that I haven't loved. One woman designer in France. Like Allana here I love my Elbe Textiles bucket hats for some of my scraps.
Gosh a lot of you like the bucket hat from Elbe that's a pretty high recommendation. I've never made anything from Ready to Sew but I've been stalking her website for a long time. I do love that new pant!
Thanks for watching K3 and also thanks for the vote for a leggings video, I'll get that together for you guys
🤗
I am interested in legging comparison, but could you also talk about fabric selection for leggings and where to buy it from. I like heavier weight fabric for leggings, but I cannot find anything in shops and am hesitant to buy on line because I cannot 'feel it first. Also cotton or wool blend. Thanks
YES!! Atte I'll try to include as much info as possible in the upcoming leggings video thanks so much for your requests it makes my job much easier if I know what kind of info you guys need 🤗
I would love to see a legging comparison video 😊
Thanks Kerry!
Juliette pants from TG are the drop crotch pants you are showing...they are great!
Yeah don't know why I kept wanting to call them Lizette 🙄I've got the first pair put together and I love them!!
I’m interested in the legging comparison please.
👍
I love the overalls what pattern are they? I started making overalls and to get around the bathroom thing I put a visible zip in front as a detail and makes them easy on off
Hi Doris. I adore overalls. Make Helen's Closet Yanta every season and have also loved my Ready To sew Partner overalls.
Hi Dorisa sorry there's no pattern! Just an inspiration video but I'll keep looking for a pattern like those and I'll let you all know if I find one. I love your zipper solution!! I've never thought of that and it's such a cute and functional idea!!!
