      @@thebigsewalong Honestly, after I watched it the first time, I spent the next couple of days thinking about it and knowing I had to take another look. Then I took another look and realized that I had to do some "homework" and capture my thoughts about it. I appreciate your videos very much. It's fun to watch you for many reasons. Not only your great personality, but you sew patterns I already have or ones that I see that I need! Your techniques tutorials and comments are ones that I appreciate as well. I totally identify with your obsession about buying patterns. Those pdfs you can get online are so addictive! I sent you three coffees after the first one but with a different name so you wouldn't know it was me. It was me! hahaha Have a lovely Sunday, and happy sewing!

I love everything you show, but the Gregis just bowled me over. Thank you for your research and for linking everything!

    Hi 😂, this was such a fun episode. I loved all the eye candy. My goodness there were so many appealing looks. I haven’t followed the links yet and can’t wait. I’ll be interested in how the Juliet pants work for you. I really like the idea, but I think my legs are too short to pull it off. Karen Kline in the TG Workshop group has made quite a few of them. Have you seen the new TG summer sew patterns. The first one really appeals to me. The second one, Patsy I think it is called, looks a bit too full for me, but love them both. She is also about to add a new relaxed coat that I’m interested in. It looks lovely and unique. It is over sized, like most of her patterns, and looks similar to the one button short coat that you showed today. I too would like to see legging comparisons. I agree with others, that I would really appreciate a discussion about the fabrics you chose and how they worked out. So very nice to see you again. 😊❤️

    • @thebigsewalong
      @thebigsewalong  11 месяцев назад

      Hi Judith!! yes I've been looking at those new TG patterns. the Patsy calls for 4 yards of fabric!! not sure where all of that's going so I'll have to take a closer look. Not familiar with the coat pattern she's releasing but I'll keep an eye out. I'll have these Juliette pants ready to show you next week I think they can work for us shorter gals but I'll wait to hear. what you all think 😂I'll get the leggings video going thanks so much for watching Judith always nice to hear from you

    I was intrigued by the Injiri dresses. It appears that the embroidery is English smocking. I was putting the finishing touches on a smocked outfit for my baby granddaughter as I watched your video. In 1984, I made a smocked dress for myself from Vogue 8826, an Erica Wilson design. I used it as a maternity dress. I'm inspired to try the pattern again and use mixed prints as in the Injiri designs.

    • @thebigsewalong

      OMG I LOVE smocking!! I don't really know how to do it. Maybe I'll look and see if there's a RUclips video 'cause I really love the idea of incorporating that into some dresses.🤗

    Squee! 🥳 Looking forward to seeing your Juliette pants! I'm similarly 'vertically challenged' so also curious to see how they fit on you and any modifications you made.
    Love all your fall inspo shots. That beautiful blue patchwork dress is what I had in my mind for the men's shirts in various blue patterns that I started thrifting (no fabric stores nearby😢). I had though of using the 'Work Dress' from Nani Iro's book for the pattern. Also particularly like the white blouse with ruffled neck and am very interested in a apron dress. I'm so completely besotted with the Kitty Apron Dress from Metta Melbourne that I'm ruminating how I could go about replicating it.

    • @thebigsewalong

      Ok now I'm intrigued going to go hunting for Metta Melbourne. I was thinking about doing something similar with a bunch of old shirts from my husband. They're all shades of blue some stripes some checks but I don't have enough yet. Hmmm I may supplement from the thrift...Love that Nani IRO shirt!!🤗

    I’m a monogamous sewer too, not so much with knitting I’m afraid.🤣 As far as the Elicriso top, I am not a ruffle (or lace) person. I like the top, I might use some mini Pom Pom trim instead around those dangling pockets. I love the Departure dress/tunic, those sleeves are cool. Having a narrow shoulder and shorter arm, it will be challenging to figure how low to go with the shoulder and then will the sleeve be an awkward length? Hmmm. As far as leggings patterns, I would love a comparison between two. I have the Limestone Leggings pattern from Sew Liberated but haven’t made them. Like another commenter, I don’t know where to get some natural fiber knit that would be appropriate for leggings. I would love a print.💚 I loved all of your fab fall inspiration, when I saw the double collar shirt I immediately thought of the pattern called The Bloom Shirt & Dress by TFS. It’s got several collar variations, the ruffle collar could maybe be made double? I also don’t do challenges but I was thinking of entering the same challenge as I have made 2 bucket hats with a free pattern from Juliana Martejevs. Thank you Gini, you put me in a fall sewing mood. 🧡💛🍁

    So many great looks! I too love different fabrics patched together to make cloth for a garment. I still have some basic top & dress patterns from the late '80s - early '90s which utilized this style. Recently I saw someone wearing a mid-calf loose flowy dress which looked to be made from several different cuts from the hand-stamped Indian cottons, wish I'd asked her where she bought it, or perhaps she made it. The UK company Sew Different just released a new line of dresses and one coat/robe that use 2 or more fabrics. The samples they made are from Jaipur Indian cotton, they are very nice.

    Thanks for the fall inspiration. I saw a few things that I loved. It seems like cute collars are trending. I’m thinking it would be fun to have some that could be removable and then you can switch them out. Like the old men’s shirts that had removable collars and cuffs.

      Do you remember a TV show years ago named Fashion Stat? It was on NBC and the judges were buyers from big stores. Anyway, the eventual winner made the cutest removable collar with long ties that I've thought about for years. She got dinged for making an accessory instead of clothing but eventually won.. even had one of her dresses made into a pattern. I think it's McCalls, I have it somewhere. Never sewed it but it's fantastic!
