Just an FYI - some of the links to the patterns in the description box weren't working because of the restructuring of the Simplicity/Something Delightful websites. I've updated them all so if you like one of the patterns, the link ⬆should now work. Enjoy!
On the 9742, the gathers above the bust are very flattering for a larger bust! I hope you make it! 🧵 I have made the 8172 - I made version C with a fish print scarf that I got from my mom's stuff when we were cleaning up her house. It's a super cute jacket. 🧵 I have an indy pattern with a similar tier design as the Vogue 9106, it's on a sundress. I haven't made it yet though 🤣 🧵 Fun pattern haul Jen!!
I had a tiny waist like that until the middle age spread hit in the late 90's. I loved the vintage patterns. My Mom wore some of those things in the early 60's. She was a tiny thing all her life and 5'7".
love your pattern haul! great ideas. my husband teases me because i buy patterns for my daugthers and grands without them with me. then he is suprised that they like them. love him anyway. hug and prayers.
Thanks for showing us S9742, the shirt dress with the gathered yoke, after watching your video I got this pattern and made it up....what a great dress I love it ❤ and think I will definitely be making more.
S9742 looks quite a lot like a house dress to me, but with a little bit of fancy gathering, which kind of makes it look 1940's maybe. All the older women still wore house dresses when I was a kid so I remember house dresses. Looks just like it (but without the gathering). Love all the vintage reissues!!
Love the patterns and I can’t wait to see those makes. I’m on a bit of a sewing break. My machine had some problems so I put it in the shop. A clip on the tension thing had jumped to the opposite side and it needed a good cleaning. My house also needed a good cleaning so that’s what I’ve been doing. I got my sewing machine back and got home and realized they forgot to put cord back so next day hubby went & got it for me. Hopefully this weekend I can do some sewing. I managed to get myself a free mannequin full body. I have been paddling it up to my size. Hopefully it will help with seeing what looks good on my figure & some with the fit.
Hi Jen - I was surprised to hear you say you think you are only an intermediate sewist having made wedding dresses. I would think you were at least an intermediate/advanced sewist. You don't have to sew couture to be super skilled! I would love to see the vintage Vogue 9294 sewn up. I think you could make it look modern like Andra does when she sews a vintage pattern. And B6760 is darling. Love to see that made up too! Take Care
Oh I did enjoy that. I'm sat here knitting, listening to your birds singing in the background and watching a feast of patterns pass in front of my eyes. ❤. Princess seams are definitely your thing right now! I have a few of those as you know but I'm still desperate to try the top with the scalloped sleeves as it reminds me of the top you wear with the scalloped neck line 🥰. Thank you so much for 20:02 glorious minutes xx❤xx
Wonderful patterns, Jen. Love the vintage. How about making the housedress? Great for summer. Maybe in a tiny polka dot fabric. Dotted Swiss? I want to make a chambray shirt dress for summer. Would your McCalls 6696 be good? I would want short sleeves, so hopefully could cut off the long sleeve pattern piece. I'm a below-intermediate sewer.
Jen, please make that darling vogue vintage skirt! It is adorable and I love it too! Gotta get to Joanne’s. I didn’t know they had so many cute vintage patterns out.
I've just subscribed to your channel, Jen. Thank you very much. I'm really enjoying your interesting content and your lovely comments. Best wishes from Australia.
I watched a recent video of Bernadette Banner’s where she discussed the tiny waist and how it’s usually an illusion. The shoulders and the fullness of the designed top and skirt is an illusion… makes waist appear smaller. She showed pictures of herself, and she is small, but when she showed herself in the garment a couple of different ways; she appeared smaller waisted in some than others! I love those vintage looks too; just so cute! I’ve noticed the smocked tops are making a comeback.
I would love you to make the vogue 9106 with the very interesting gathered skirt, or the vogue skirt 1863 with the interesting pocket details. Lovely pattern haul, can’t believe how inexpensive patterns are in the US compared to ours in England, £4.99 is the on sale price here!! Take care xxx
You guys are so lucky to have Joannes pattern sales. I love the Simplicity 9742. Its really lovely. That will look lovely on you and because the gathers are above the bust it draws the eyes to the shoulders more than the bust. Great video as always. ❤
I love the vogue skirt pattern with the different kind of pockets..if and whenever you make that,o would love to see how it's made...Thank you for sharing...
I am about to cut out a Ballad Blouse 😊. I have had skin cancer and stay covered up. It is challenging to find summer weight clothes with full length sleeves so that's what I have been sewing since Christmas for myself. I want to try the shirring on a long sleeved cuff as well as the front yoke. Wish me luck 🤞. I have a light weight rayon blend for that. I made a gauze P&M Patterns Cleo blouse with hand embroidery on the yoke and cuffs. I made a Rhapsody in double gauze last summer so I might make another one, I love it so much. I look forward to seeing how your Ballad turns out.
Happy New Year, Jen. I SHOULD NOT watch pattern haul videos because I immediately run to eBay and buy patterns. You're right that top on the 50s reprint -- gotta have it. I think it would even be cute in chambrey or denim. So stinkin cute! Of course -- I need to lose some weight before I try that one ... LOL. But, yea, super cute! :)
Oh. I'm anxious to see the V9106 dress. Also, I really love the S9699 top. So beautiful! I also made a peasant top in 9th grade in the early '70's. What a Great pattern haul!!
Love the S8883! Interesting and pretty. So hard to find pretty tops to buy. Please make this one! Enjoyed seeing all of your patterns. Those 50’s dresses reminded me of my mother and her tiny waist in those beautiful party dresses back then. Thanks for sharing!❤
Thank you, thank you for the enlarged pattern pictures you provided. This made seeing the pattern lines so much easier. I love your videos so much and always pick up a tip or two. I am trying to get back to garment sewing again after years of not sewing garments but of course as the years have passed the size and alterations have only increased so getting the pattern ready has become more time consuming.
Lovely patterns there, those vintage styles are gorgeous. I made the Butterick 6495, good fit, but the fabric I used was too loose (or not a tight enough knit perhaps, hope you know what I mean!) to keep up across the shoulders. Am pondering on whether I can add elastic or make a bit more of a gathered off shoulder top. Would make again though in a different fabric. Thanks for a great video Jen
I absolutely love that Simplicity 9742 dress. And I 100% agree - the vintage styles are so interesting. I don’t think they would look anything like those pictures on most bodies, but they are fun to look at for sure! 💞
Just finishing up Vogue 9106 skirt, I made it into a skirt. I straightened the top tier and lengthened it to get it up over my hips. What’s super cool about the way they use the darts, it’s a full circle skirt in the end, without all the edges if you had done it plain. I meant to put the front on the fold, but one is dealing with massive pieces and I think that’s there because all the ruffles are on the side. Love, love these older designs. I think I learned to sew ‘back in the day’ with learning those usual design lines, and while it’s fine now for the simpler lines, I’ll always be attracted to some of these older designs. I will tag u when I post on ig, this is a special dress for granddaughter Masters degree ceremony Saturday. ❤ I’m bound to have a post cuz I’m loving how it all came out. Or, coming out, not quite done….of course.
I am with you on the simple peasant style top. I too made a peasant top in Home Ec in the seventh grade. Thank you for sharing your new patterns and thanks for sharing the scripture verse from Micah.
Jen, you've got to make the S9699 top! Those girls checking out the guy is HILARIOUS! I love the little neck button closure with the peephole detail. I need to pick up that pattern next time. All the jumpsuits are amazing! Great haul! 😃
I really love it if you made a video on how to make the simplicity S9771. I have that pattern and I'm new to sewing using patterns so the instruction is a bit confusing. Videos seem to help me more
The one with the gathering it's one of my favourites as I've made three of those. The one with the slit in front of made two of those and the one that says kimono I have made one of those that I wear a lot. These three patterns are three of my tried-and-true patterns
Your editing and use of inset pictures is excellent, thank you. I used Micah 6:8, and 2 Corinthians 12:9 for my mother's internment last month and it was so appropriate for her. She definitely lived these verses being disabled, yet not complaining. She impacted many lives positively. You do as well.❤
Watching your videos makes me want to get back to it………my life was turned upside down a couple years ago and I stopped sewing and making videos. I’m going to try to do something this weekend:) maybe ease back into my sewing:)
Jen, I was going to pick up some of the vintage patterns, but in talking to a lady in JoAnn another sewist she said the sizing runs small, so I did know what size to get. I would like you to make the vintage top that you like.
oooh! so many great patterns. They all look great so which one you should make first I really can't say. I will have to watch several times and take notes, then hunt down some of the patterns.
I’m with you Jen on the off the shoulder, I think it looks great but it annoys me, what I do to resolve it (and wear a proper bra) is I stitch in a lace or ribbon strap on each side. If it’s a stretch material I would use stretch lace and if not the same colour or contrast, I would use a nude colour that you don’t really notice till close up 😊
I have made the B6775 jumpsuit and I love it. It did take a bit of fitting because I made it before I learned how to do a SBA. It was a little ambitious for one of my early sewing journey.
Really beautiful pattern choices! I love both the butterick patterns with the cut outs...and the vintage vogue patterns. The somethingdelightful website is down atm as I was about to go find them. Maybe this is the long awaited remake of the site about to be released??
I love all of these patterns!😍 Would be difficult to pick which one to do first. I think I do need to pick up the little boho top, with the right fabrics it would go with skirts, shorts, and capris! Would probably not be too difficult to extend it into a darling little sundress?
I’ve made the 1940s peasant blouse but the gusset wasn’t so easy as my fabric didn’t have a right and wrong side and so it was tricky putting the gusset in. But it is the most comfy top underarm.
I made the 8883. Like the top and especially the square neckline, but the princess seams were wrong for me. I will have to adjust to get the pattern apex to match my bust apex. Other than that, it was really easy to make.
I made V 9106. The vintage w the tiered skirt and sweetheart neck. Wasnt that bad. If u can make buttonholes and gather well. Was a little big. I wore it 4 awhile then passed it to my daughter. I had made it out of a floral print and i got sick of it!!!
Enjoyed your patterns. Now, I have to ask why you only wear dresses. I have been contemplating wearing Only dresses… Because I am most comfortable in them. Was wondering if that’s why you wear them! Enjoyed so much! Thank you!
Cute patterns. I want to know if B6775 is a jumpsuit how you get out of it to go pee with that button zipper arrangement. Holy smokes! I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to get it fastened back up by myself either. It is an awfully cute dress. Love the vintage patterns. I have the originals of V1863 and S9538. My mother had that tiny waist and her patterns wouldn’t fit me. They are sooooo very tiny. I have a pink organza top all cut out from the simplicity pattern that my grandmother never finished. I thought about finishing it for one of my 12 year old granddaughters. I have one that super tiny. After 70 years I think it deserves to be finished if the fabric hasn’t rotted years ago I took out the straight pins because they were starting to rust. I say make your daughters jumpsuit first. It’s so cute.
I bought the vogue pattern with the tiers that do not go all the way around. I thought I would just make the skirt not a whole dress. Of course I haven't done it yet
I noticed that I have a lot of those patterns! Mostly the vintage style ones. Those styles really appeal to me. I started to make the peasant blouse but got stuck on putting in the gussets properly, so it is currently a UFO :D PS. some of those Something Delightful links came up as Error 404
THANK YOU! I always appreciate it when someone points out that there's an error or something doesn't work. I wondered if it was because the websites were combining and restructuring, and sure enough they were. I've updated all the links so they should work now. Thanks again!
I don't care for the bottom of that Simplicity S9742 dress , I would just make the top of it , maybe if I would make the skirt by itself without the top , I may like it better
The off the shoulder pattern is great I have made it loads od times all I do is put lingerie staps in the sleeve, and it stops your bra from falling off your shoulders
Just an FYI - some of the links to the patterns in the description box weren't working because of the restructuring of the Simplicity/Something Delightful websites. I've updated them all so if you like one of the patterns, the link ⬆should now work. Enjoy!

V9106 reminds me of the movie “Picnic”. When the beauty Queen meets the “rebel” on the water. What memories!
I've just subscribed to your channel, Jen. Thank you very much. I'm really enjoying your interesting content and your lovely comments. Best wishes from Australia.
Welcome aboard! I'm so glad you're here!
Wow sure wish we had sales like that here but I loved watching yours even though I'm a bit green 🤣with envy

ooh! make that blue, off-the-shoulder pant suit... beautiful!
butterick 6495 ☺

Hi Jen, what a great pattern haul! I loved watching this and hearing your ideas.😊❤
I’ve just come across your channel. A great selection of patterns.
Really love your picks. I love a special detail too! Happy you picked up that gathered shirt dress. I need to work on mine!
Enjoyed the haul the vintage patterns i love they certainly had style
Luv your vintage patterns. I showed pattern S9699 in my last FRIDAYSEWS. I am looking forward to sewing the Jacket & blouse!
Thank you, thank you for the enlarged pattern pictures you provided. This made seeing the pattern lines so much easier. I love your videos so much and always pick up a tip or two. I made so many peasant tops in high school. Great for hot weather.

My mom had that tiny waist back in the 50s and 60s and she made those types of dresses and looked fabulous in them💕.
I absolutely love that Simplicity 9742 dress. And I 100% agree - the vintage styles are so interesting. I don’t think they would look anything like those pictures on most bodies, but they are fun to look at for sure! 💞
Fab picks, my friend. I am going to get that t-shirt pattern next time they go on sale. Love me a princess seam. 😘💗
Hello Jen,
I love your patterns; especially B6775.

I would to see the vogue pattern. The one that is the 1930 dress. Great patterns. 💕

Marie at My Bucolic Lifee did a sew along with the S9742 and it’s great.

I made Simplicity 8172-super easy and fun make!
I love all of these patterns!😍 Would be difficult to pick which one to do first. I think I do need to pick up the little boho top, with the right fabrics it would go with skirts, shorts, and capris! Would probably not be too difficult to extend it into a darling little sundress?

Someone suggested that I do a sew-along for that, and I think I will. Maybe we can all figure it out together.
I made the 8883. Like the top and especially the square neckline, but the princess seams were wrong for me. I will have to adjust to get the pattern apex to match my bust apex. Other than that, it was really easy to make.

Great choices. What a top are you wearing?
Great pattern haul, but I’d like to see the line drawings on the back!? Thanks
Enjoyed your patterns. Now, I have to ask why you only wear dresses. I have been contemplating wearing Only dresses… Because I am most comfortable in them. Was wondering if that’s why you wear them! Enjoyed so much! Thank you!
Hi new subbie, I missed the sale, you got a lot of nice patterns
I like that vest of S9676
Cute patterns. I want to know if B6775 is a jumpsuit how you get out of it to go pee with that button zipper arrangement. Holy smokes! Peasant top sew along for the beginners in the group.
That 1952 halter dress is the Marilyn Monroe white dress from the iconic pic where she is standing over the street vent/grate.
I bought the vogue pattern with the tiers that do not go all the way around. I thought I would just make the skirt not a whole dress. Of course I haven't done it yet
I have a few of those too😮

I love the tee you're wearing, Jen. What pattern is it?
It's New Look 6220, a really cute little wrap top that I love.
Simplicity 8883 I made . its a very nice pattern.
Nice hall
Same sale this weekend, 4th of July
Simplicity S9538 reminds me of when Lucy went out to the grape venyards & got into a fight with other lady that were smashing grapes with her feet
❤
Could you tell me where to find Maddie Sews on youtube? You mention her often but I cannot find her channel. TY!
She's Mari @marisews . Try searching that.
Very nice. I stopped when you quoted the Bible verses but nice patterns
🙄
Butterick 6775
I don't care for the bottom of that Simplicity S9742 dress , I would just make the top of it , maybe if I would make the skirt by itself without the top , I may like it better
Butterick 6760
The off the shoulder pattern is great I have made it loads od times all I do is put lingerie staps in the sleeve, and it stops your bra from falling off your shoulders
I just posted. By the way. Im 59 yrs old. Daughter is 29
