VINTAGE vs. REPRODUCTION, The Walkaway Dress, Butterick 4790 pattern review vs. Butterick 6015

The next in the series of Vintage vs. Reproduction, sewing pattern edition, brings you the one and only Walkaway Dress. In this video, I am going to compare a vintage pattern to its modern reproduction by the same company. I have been a vintage pattern seller for 10 years and have always been asked, why I don't like the reproduction patterns. I knew they used block patterns to adjust the vintage patterns. I knew they looked at only the front covers and guessed on the rest, but now I want to put them to the test.
In today’s video, I will be doing the infamous Butterick 4790 pattern review, the Walkaway Dress, by laying out Butterick 6015 (the original vintage pattern from the 1950's it is based on) to see how it compares. I will be using the size 14 (Bust 32”) in the vintage pattern and staying between the 8/10 (Bust 31.5 - 32.5”) on the modern pattern.
Will this be another vintage reproduction pattern rant? From the horror stories I have heard, yes I do believe that is what this will become. However, I will try to keep an even manner about myself, unless I am overwhelmed by this awful reproduction.
I am doing this series so that everyone can see which vintage reproduction patterns are worth your time and money, and which belong in the dumpster.
