In this Warhammer Fantasy Lore Documentary we explore the Rise of the Chaos Dwarfs. We first begin with a look at the Ancient Dwarf Empire as it expanded across the mountains of the world millennia ago. However with the coming of Chaos, their northern holds would find themselves cut off and surrounded. Little is known of how these Dwarfs survived such calamitous times. But those who did would emerge twisted and broken, masters of a new dark lord; Hashut.
From this rebirth they would go on to extend their dominion over the Darklands with a new Empire of fire and blood. At the core of their military would be the Legions of Azgorgh and the Infernal Ironsworn who garrison the Black Fortress of the south.
You can take charge of the Chaos Dwarfs in Total War Warhammer 3 with a roster and campaign mechanics that bring them to life like never before.

Long time fan of the Total War series and been having a blast with the ongoing Warhammer titles. Its insane to see how many factions they have brought to life so far. Super happy to be a small part of helping rekindle the flame of Warhammer Fantasy!
Kinda wished you covered the Siege of Nuln, Empire Landships and Outriders vs the Demon Engine of the Dawi-Zharr
@@lettuceman9439 I do as well but we already had out hands full in the 24 min episode
Can you do war bear riders?
@@InvictaHistory OH GOD, Now i feel bad
@@lettuceman9439 you're good lol. there's a lot of detail we'd love to go into further, but yeah time and budget are limiting factors on a vid like this
Long note on the rather complicated subject of CD mutations. Most CDs are indistinguishable from their non chaos aligned cousins, aside from their tusks/fangs (and perhaps the hate filled look on their faces). Some CDs develop horns, and these are seen as a gift from Hashut himself, and are more common in the higher echelons of CD society but are usually ground down to fit in helmets and headdresses. CD sorcerers almost all have horns and many have cloven hooves as well. Contrary to popular belief, CD sorcerers turning to stone is not some “monkey’s paw” type price for their power, it is the dwarfs’ natural resistance to magic that is responsible. Their bodies reject using spells and the like, and slowly turn to stone because of it. Bull centaurs are actually CDs. CD women very rarely give birth to bull centaurs(which is 100% fatal), who are quickly whisked away by the sorcerer prophets. This is a completely random mutation. The sorcerer prophets are also capable of inducing the mutation on unborn children in times of low numbers. As centaurs age, they grow more and more metallic. Regular medicine starts to become ineffective, and to seal their wounds, molten metal is used.
I just love the idea Choas-alligned individuals trading.
I imagine there is a Chaos Dwarf with a little binder full of reports, and he's just scracthing his beard about the losses that quarter.
I smell a new infernal guard ready for the furnace.
"Sir, profits are down a lot this quarter."
"Sacrifice some slaves to Hashut."
Well it's not like they can use all the weapons they make. Besides, where else can they sell their premium gear when their more conservative cousins practically corner the market in lands like the Empire?
If in doubt, become the arms dealer on two sides of a chaos warrior civil war, or supply an ogre tyrant with weapons and meat if they go attack your enemies
Chaos Dwarfs are one of the most interesting factions because they're so antithetical to the both chaos and dwarfs aside from the technological and smithing element of dwarfs (and I guess inherent resistance to magic). And they're not very chaosy either - they are very careful and strategic, but mostly just actually evil. They're less parallel to chaos as it relates to humans and more like dark elves as they relate to other elves.
I absolutely love documentaries like this on fantasy armies and conflicts, complete with overhead views on troop movements and background details to make it feel almost real. I didn't know this channel did fantasy stuff. Very cool.
We've done these sorts of videos on a few Warhammer units by now and I really love bringing the world to life with these lore docs
thats not fantasy its real
@@InvictaHistory and with the maps! Most fantastic maps of this world I've seen so far that have me wondering and dreaming
11:19, Chaos Dwarfs account for .5% of the Old World’s population, but also make up 80% of the Old World’s pollution.

A new power is rising. Its victory is at hand. This night the land will be stained with the blood of the traitor Dawi. March to Karaz-a-Karak. Leave none alive. To war!
Whom do you serve? DRAZHOAAAATH
A clash between the Dwarfs and the Chaos Dwarfs so thunderous that the Empire can hear the warcries from Altdorf!
Clever
The technological differences between each race in Warhammer fantasy is huge. Dwarves pretty much has WW1 to modern tech where as bretonina have mediaeval tech
Seems magic is the great equalizer in this world. Also, Warhammer is meant to be a parody that takes itself semi-seriously.
Yes, and the lizardmen have space ships 😅
And the skaven have energy weapons and nuclear missiles lmao
@@dafreakyman if they used them more often they would have probably destroyed chaos way before the times that shall not be named
Bretonia has access to some early industrial age tech, but they find that it polites the sky, and more importantly their sacred lakes.
Besides, why would they want canons that can explode when they already have the perfect weapons?
Horses and magic steroids? It's worked for centuries.
The chaos dwarfs were definitely “short” sighted when they fell into the arms of Hashut.
"SHORT!?"
@@sirunklydunk8861 nah didnt work here. They can be literally half dwarf half bull, so no short anymore lol!
SHORRTT?!!!
Hashut probably isn't even a real god.
@@KingOfMadCows gods in Warhammer are birthed through the collective psyche of mortals in the warp. I'd say he is one already given how ancient their worship of him is.
I think it's so cool that you're doing fantasy content with the same high quality you do historical stuff, keep it up
Literally playing the DLC right now. For Hashut, may the false ancestor gods suffer!
id like to raise you a meme. ruclips.net/user/shortssdCbzBU7L8s
mmhmm yep...
That's going in the book
@@unlimitedninja3635 Don’t let me sell you “short” 😏
I hate how every battle with Chaos in Warhammer is just 'the defenders killed scores, but the numbers of the chaos hoards eventually overwhelmed them'
I cant recall a single battle that chaos won with tactics
Its either numbers, or some insanely OP magic that's never used again
The documentary quality is absolutely admirable
You do realize this is not a documentary.
agreed, that intro animation was awesome.
@@jamesdeen3011 ?
@James G hilarious, thanks for morning laughs. 👍👍
Indeed, the quality is almost as good as your meth.
The Chaos Dwarves are my absolute favorite. Small Sidenote about TW:WH3 addition of the Legion of Azgorh: The Infernal Guard, which was shown in CAs trailer in that amazing Sardaukar Scene, actually yell "Sardaukar" once in a while.
And as someone who's also too much into Dune, this comparison is very fitting. And it makes me happy to see little things from other franchises I like in otherwise different games. Especially if it fits.
@@emerald10005 They do.
Oh HELL yeah. As much as I love videos about actual history, I love me some fantasy history too.
Professional history channel docs of Warhammer Fantasy is like peanut butter and jelly.
More of this please, well done to Invicta and Indypride for this lore explanation
Man I am so glad you cover warhammer stuff. This is gonna be great
With a title of Rise of the Chaos Dwarfs you know I had to watch 😂
Chaos Dwarfs are my favorite take on the "darker version of a classic race," alongside the Dunmer from Morrowind. They're not just "original race but meaner" but rather a radical departure from their ancestral race.
This was awesome! I hope you do more like this, I thoroughly enjoyed the historical backstory of Drazhoath. He's my first chaos dwarf campaign too
"Demonsmith this is unacceptable. We commissioned 4 hellcannons and yet you delivered only 3! You've come up short!!"
"SHORT!??"
The quality of this is off the charts. Love the narration and topics covered.
Awesome video! I rly got immersed in the lore.
want to see more warhammer fantasy lore related videos from this channel!
I remember when Inicta did Total War content like subcommanders.
haha those we the days! We actually got to play Total War Arena together at a CA hosted tourney event. Still have my medal and photo of that!
@@InvictaHistory shame how total war arena went down. the game was not as bad as most people make it out to be. Some of the mechanics like charging into a wall causing damage or proper ambushes could be well implemented in other titles.
@@InvictaHistory will you do more Invicta Gaming content?
That was amazing 🤩🤩
Please more
Awesome video, thanks for doing warhammer with the same style as your history documentaries.
Crazy that MilkandCookies did the script, very cool.
Ultimately amazing to hear the story of the Chaos Dwarfs. Their origins remind me of the Druchii, how they became the way they are over centuries of relying more and more on dark sorcery, pacts with daemons, cruelty, and slave labor to survive their lives and the war after separation with their former people.
Thanks for the video!
The music and sound effects, in particular, were phenomenal.
More Warhammer videos please. You’re channel is awesome and I love watching your vids. Your style works super well with Warhammer also.
this surely made me buy the dlc finally! (as if there was any doubt xD)
Wishing to know more about Zhatan and why he is the best general when there is the mighty legion down south. That vid would be as epic!
An ez sub for me!
Expertly crafted lore overview, you definitely deserve more attention!
Beautifully done, showing the chaos dwarfs. Hope you vill make similar videos of other warhammer fantasy factions. Like the regular dwarfs, elves of ulthuan. Or human factions like brettonia, kislev or the Empire.
once again amazing, your killing it with the production quality!
Whoever did the narration did an amazing job.
Can you do one on how the Chaos Dwarfs dealt with the Skaven?
I love this channel. Fantastic video as always.
Holy Hashut, why didnt I heard of this channel before?
Out of all my hours into warhammer. This was my favorite campaign. Drazoath is by far my favorite lord to play as
The more ridiculous the hat, the meaner the dwarf.
Great Video!!
Omg this was great! Please do more on the chaos dwarfs!
So glad you made this!
Invicta is putting a video for warhammer and for the chaos dwarfs 🎉🎉🎉🎉 this is priceless thank you for this pleasent surprise ❤
Great video brother!
All of this felt like listening to something about the Ottoman Empire in middleschool
Badass video from an excellent channel. Well done 😁
YES more Warhammer Fantasy lore
I have a boyfriend who is VERY sucked into this update as we speak, suppose this will mean I'm able to track the conversation at least!
It's been a ton of fun for me. Do you know if he went for the robo legs lord, that one's my favorite
Warhammer Fantasy is so rich, you have to make more!!!
Chaos Dwarfs are so cool!
God these lore videos are amazing hoping for something on the ogre kingdoms
Look forward to more of these.
0:47 HOW DARE YOU! THOSE ARE LABOURERS
Since your so good at covering battles throughout history, it'd be amazing if you covered warhammer 40k battles similar to your revenge of varus series. Like how archwarhammer did a siege of vracks series and a bhadab war series you could do something similar but ALOT better. Using in-universe sources the way you do for actual historical battles.
You could cover horus heresy battles like the burning of Prospero or 40k battles like the war for Armageddon or lesser known lore battles or rebellions.
You would easily become one of the top 40k lore channels on top of your already prestigious reputation as a history channel.
I like how the chaos dwarfs essentially fight like Roman legionaries, they have their main heavy infantry that does the heavy lifting. But they use slaves and hobgoblins as Auxiliaries to screen around them and skirmish the enemy. All the while their stout heavy infantry lumbers into the fray
Thanks for the video
Was not expecting a fantasy video from Invicta, so I thought this was a luetin09 warhammer lore video
production quality is awesome.
Such a cool vid. I love you guys.
Interestingly, the new maps for Warhammer: The Old World seem to show Uzkulak in Kislevite hands in that setting, suggesting it was actually conquered by the CDs much later, rather than being their origin point.
7:25 What song plays here, it sounds so good.
Wish we could get video like this about ironbreakers ^^
Total War Warhammer 3 is awesome! !!! Great game
the whole warhsmmer setting either fantasy or 40.k
Meh once the mods update it will be. Base game is absolute trash
@@jeambeam3173 Not at all for me it's start was bad, but they fixed most of the issues.

@@dhmossedios2194 multiplayer is different I guess since it is an opinion thing if you want quicker battles but I just can't stand it for the campaign
Such a great video!
I wonder how hard it would be to style a beard like the chaos dwarves
u need to do more of this warhammer stories.
Def need more of this! Thank you!
Hashut is basically the Golden Calf from the Bible. After Moses went up to Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments from God, the Israelites waited patiently for his return. But after waiting so long without any sign that Moses will return, they eventually felt abandoned and lost faith in God and started worshiping a golden calf as a replacement deity. In doing this, the Children of Israel had broken their covenant with the Lord and turned to evil, just as the Chaos Dwarfs had abandoned the gods of their forefathers and turned to the worship of their own false idol in the imagine of a bull.
Hashut has more in common with the biblical moloch, a bull deity that requires human sacrifices and is often connected to fire, and in modern times the fires of industry.
@barbiquearea I've notice that connection kinda good fictional writing there
hohoooo Warhammer Fantasy content 👌
0:00: Did......did you just paraphrase the Alexiad?
I just wanna know what kind of music that's played in these videos I feel like I'm in a war march
Loved the documentary. Please do for Warhammer 40k as well.

@@InvictaHistory ❤️
The timing!!
Brilliant
Invictaaaaaa…. The emperor calls for your service…
Yall should do space marines
whats a more elite infantry troop they could add still? like the most elite possible
I love the Chaos Dwarfs in the game. What is really silly though is how they are dancing around not mentioning the word “slave” in the entire dlc.
Dope
The dwarf are too stubborn and proud, so after decades of hopeless isolations and with demons at their doors, they prefered to make a deal with Hashut rather than doom their clan.
This vid is incredible wtf
The more i read Persian history the more i understand why chaos dwarves were based on us.
@persianguy1524 The Persian theme is little bit misleading, though the more obvious elements with the Chaos Dwarfs are the Assyrian and Babylonian aspect especially their Obsession with slavery, just as ancient Mesopotamians were massive slavers. Also their deployment of Slave soldiers and Hellish war machines reflects heavily on the Ottoman Empire! So misleading as appearance wise Persians looked like Mesopotamians but they were not one of them, culture language and… were all separate. Lamasu a CD monster is of Assyrian origin even has the same name. Ziggurat is an Ancient Akkadian architecture wonder the CD have that too. I hope you agree good friend that the great separation within the dwarven race could also speak of the great Exodus, or how ancient indo-European races all migrated and went their separate ways while still being distant kinsman all the same!
@@arshamthedefiler4006 think theyre a mixture of Assyrians and Persians. The chaos dwarf language sounds like Persian gibberish to me after all.
I am happy to play a faction in which I can hard focus economy and the flames of industry
I have no idea what's going on but the pictures are pretty
ROCK AND STONE!
Very good art
30 seconds in, what is that pink "Graboid" worm thing?
I thought this was real at first lol
There's that Imperial plot armour again
Yesss do more units of war hammer
Somebody painted their chaos dwarf army In straight idf gear and I don't even wanna deal with that but it's hilarious. Respect and compassion to all but that is hilarious
While story and video is good, pronunciation inflicts a little bit pain on me.
You should try to chant HASHUT! VORGUND! ZHAR-NAGGRUND!
It's pronounced "Hah shu-t."
It's in the game's dialogue.
Hey Invicta, I was wondering, could you update your playlist? There are many that are not added.
I like the videos where the narrator talks at a normal speed and tone.
OMG, I need more!!!!!
How does the infernal guard eat anything?
Hashut provides... lol no clue
Helmets have a straw hole
They’re mouth areas are either left open or GW doesn’t care.
These heathens are definitely in the Book of Grudges.
What do they eat?
oh thats why there is a channel between chaos dwarf empire and why norgle is placed thare on TW wharhammer 3
