    I love it! However I think it should be mentioned if following the books or the movies as Tolkien never mentioned them having plate armor. I do love movie's vision, the same used in this video, but I think it is an important distinction to make.
    Next I would LOVE to see video about Houses of Gondolin, especially Order of Fountain, their leader Ecthelion and how they marched clad in white, diamond and silver, playing their flutes!

    "it would be from the inside that the strength of men would falter."
    its always such a lovely line. ripe with doom, but Tolkien really did get people. any manner of exterior threat, and you can find countless examples of people rising above and beyond. but there is no seemingly unconquerable threat as moral character rotting away to wickedness and deceit.

  • @thurahtun6428

    We already have a sense of how the late 3rd age Gondor soldiers look like. It would be interesting to see a similar breakdown video for the late 2nd age or the early 3rd age Gondor/Arnor soldiers and their armies, at the peak of their might.

    • @thegermaniccoenus2525
      @thegermaniccoenus2525 2 года назад

      They didn't look different from each period unless they are from a different faction, Kingdom or fiefdom.

    • @thurahtun6428
      @thurahtun6428 2 года назад +6

      @@thegermaniccoenus2525 If based on the movies, Gondor/Arnor soldiers looked different in 2nd age (Prologue - War of the Last Alliance) to what we see in ROTK. But I agree with your point that they would look different based on which fiefdom or region they come from.

    • @cognitivedisability9864
      @cognitivedisability9864 2 года назад +4

      @@thurahtun6428 the men from the prologue while from arnor mostly would be extremely simillar to gondor as they pretty much just arrived in middle earth after the fall of numenor. In the 2nd age arnor probably looked different mabye even worse than in the prologue when you consider the fact that arnor split in 3 and then went to war against each other. 2nd age gondor is described as being great and very strong. When the vanguard of a gondorian army arrived in mithlond the elves there had not seen a force that strong since the last alliance. And that was just the vanguard of gondor with a huge fleet. Its after the fall of arnor that the witch kong takes minas morgul and weakens gondor through acts of war and pestilence.

    • @thegermaniccoenus2525
      @thegermaniccoenus2525 2 года назад +1

      @@thurahtun6428 Yeah, but we shouldn't based upon the movies, which are fanon, like what they did here. The books have already provided a great source of information regarding to the kind of weapons or armor used by the armies of the Numenorian Kingdoms in Exile.
      Take for example the winged war-helm of the Citadel Guards.
      In the RotK, the helms of the Guards of the Citadel were described as "heirlooms from the glory of old days" and the Crown of Gondor, which was described in the appendices as of similar fashion to the Citadel Guard helm, is actually a Numenorean War-Helm that belonged to Isildur since his brother Anarion's head and helmet was crushed by a stone projectile during the siege of Barad-dûr. This mean that the Winged War-Helms used by Guards of the Citadel were of the older Numenorean design. And just to add, according to Book of Unfinished Tales, in the First Age, Tuor, the grandfather of the first Numenorean King Elros and the ancestor of the Numenorean Kings, also wore a Winged War-Helm. By that account, this just makes use of the helm unchanged and far older than the Kingdom of Numenor.

    • @thurahtun6428
      @thurahtun6428 2 года назад +1

      @@thegermaniccoenus2525 Thanks for your comment. It is an interesting point regarding how Numenorean helms would look like. But what I am trying to say here is different.. I admit I have not read the books complete, but I am aware about the books' description regarding the arms and armour used. If I am not mistaken, the most common armour according to the books would always be the simple mail hauberk/shirt throughout the ages, unlike the movies where they implemented fantasy plate armour. I am just curious about Invicta's idea (Or the community's idea) based on what the audience have already seen from the LOTR movies. Like if there was a late 2nd age or early 3rd age TV show (like Rings of Power currently), how would these soldiers look like in those periods if that show follows the same design concept of the LOTR trilogy. According to the books, these soldiers would not look so different, most regular soldiers would be equipped with simple mail hauberk.
