- As voted for by Patrons, I review Disney's classic 90's animated war musical "Mulan", which is about a Chinese woman becoming a soldier in a patriarchal period China.

8:48 Thank you! Ping is Mulan’s lie! I totally understood why Shang didn’t want to trust her right away. That said, Mulan is a fabulous character, and I like this movie. The sequel... not so much.
One little part I do like in the film is when it looks like Shang is going to execute Mulan Tim Po, Ling, and Yaug make an attempt to stop him but the advisor stops them. It’s a small moment but I like it, showing that they didn’t want anything bad to happen to Mulan regardless of how the army saw it.
Thanks for making me cry! Even though your closing comments were kind of corny, it made me feel like you’re really there for me.
And I placed this review in my Favorites playlist, even though putting videos in a playlist doesn’t do much in the ways of revenue, it lets you know how enjoyed you are.
It’s such a funny coincidence. I just recently rewatched this a few weeks ago because at the time the new live-action remake that was originally meant to be coming out this Friday, but now unfortunately isn’t. Oh well! Decided to rewatch the straight to DVD sequel instead.

I know she’s not one of the main characters or anything, but what was your opinion on Grandmother Fa? I thought she was funny!
I LOVE her, she's a great example of a Fa family woman who balances liberal eccentricity and old fashioned beliefs, plus yes, she's hilarious (it helps that she's also voiced by June Foray, the godmother of comedic voice acting).

what I find funny about the Romance in this film is that Mulan doesn't kiss Shang, she kisses Mushu on the head but it still counts
that scene where mushu looks all dark and scary really reminds me of batman! if only he had the costume to go with it...

He's whistling for Mulan,, to make it look like she's whistling at the women, to help her fit in with the soldier's customs, that's Mushu's main job remember.

Out of all the 'Genie clones', Mushu is probably the best of the bunch. It's because he's a fully rounded character and knows when's the right time to make quips and when's the right time to give support to the drama. So while I like the army trio more, especially when they without hesitation dress in feminine clothes to help Mulan, Mushu does bring honor to this movie.
I also ADORE the gender commentary as the movie shows the importance of masculinity AND femininity, AND that there are more important things worth protecting like family and the better of the community. Plus, if Donny Osmand is in a musical, he NEEDS to sing.
Out of curiosity, how many times has Pokémon 4ever been in the poll now!?
I think it's good. I just don't think it's as amazing as people make it out to be.
@@unicornlover1237 I don't the comedy is as strong as people make it out to be, Mushu while not a bad character he's fine, I just feel like he's trying to compete against Robin Williams Genie where as the Genie I think it's better comedy wise and how creative they got with the Genie and I find half of the songs too radio friendly for my personal taste. But, I will say that Girl worth fighting for is a fun and catchy song worth listening to and Make a Man out of You is great as it does get you pumped and ready for action. It's like Disney's answer to the training montoge in Rocky IV. So, in the end, it's a decent flick, it's just not as strong compared to something like Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin which in my eyes are heavy hitters, especially Aladdin.
