I would give the story a 10/10... the movie establishes the rules a genie must follow, and how the rules are used to structure the climax is some of the best writing in any Disney movie i've seen.

"Aladdin" ranks as very high on my Top 10 Disney Animated Films list, as it has been a huge source of laughter and joy with its hilarious and well fleshed out characters, awesome songs, beautiful animation, and grand story. Great job on this review, man.
As for the next review, something tells me "Toy Story 2" is next because I remember hearing once that the movie was the best reviewed animated film on Rotten Tomatoes. I don't remember when I heard that news, but it's something I remember hearing. That, and the music at the end reminded me of "You've Got a Friend in Me."

Listen, As an Israeli who lives with Palestinians since I was a baby, I can understand their sensitivities, but Aladdin has many interpreatations throughout history since it was a story that developed in a period of merchants passing through the Silk Road that included the city of Agra and of course the Arabian peninsula. But as you know, I support the creator's decision to make a-timeless cross cultural movie because as you might be aware, Aladdin was supposed to be Chinese and not Arabian or Persian:
Aladdin (/əˈlædɪn/; Arabic: علاء الدين‎, ʻAlāʼ ud-Dīn/ ʻAlāʼ ad-Dīn, IPA: [ʕalaːʔ adˈdiːn]) is a folk tale of Middle Eastern origin. It is one of the tales in The Book of One Thousand and One Nights (The Arabian Nights), and one of the best known-despite not being part of the original Arabic text. It was added to the collection in the 18th century by the Frenchman Antoine Galland, who attributed the tale to a Syrian storyteller, Youhenna Diab.[2]
Since it first appeared in the early 18th century "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp" has been one of the best known and most retold of all fairy tales.
The opening sentences of the story, in both the Galland and the Burton versions, set it in China and imply, at least, that Aladdin is Chinese.[9] On the other hand, there is practically nothing in the rest of the story that is inconsistent with an Arabian or Middle Eastern setting. For instance, the Sultan is referred to as such rather than being called the "Emperor", as in some re-tellings, and the people in the story are Muslims: their conversation is larded with devout Muslimplatitudes. A Jewish merchant buys Aladdin's wares (and incidentally cheats him), but there is no mention of Buddhists or Confucians (or other distinctively Han Chinese people).
China's ethnic makeup has long included Muslim groups, including large populations of the Hui people whose origins go back to Silk Road travellers. In addition, large communities of Muslim Chinese have been known since the Tang Dynasty, as well as Jewish communities. Some have even suggested that the intended setting may be Turkestan(encompassing Central Asia and the modern Chinese province of Xinjiang).[10]
For all this, speculation about a "real" Chinese setting depends on a knowledge of China that the teller of a folk tale (as opposed to a geographic expert) might well not possess.[11
Adaptations vary in their faithfulness to the original story. In particular, difficulties with the Chinese setting are sometimes resolved by giving the story a more typical Arabian Nightsbackground.
    BooksEdit
One of the many literary retellings of the tale appears in A Book of Wizards (1966) and A Choice of Magic (1971), by Ruth Manning-Sanders."The Nobility of Faith" by Jonathan Clements in the anthology Doctor WhoShort Trips: The Ghosts of Christmas (2007) is a retelling of the Aladdin story in the style of the Arabian Nights, but featuring the Doctor in the role of the genie.
    PantomimesEdit

An 1886 theatre poster advertising a production of the pantomime Aladdin.
In the United Kingdom, the story of Aladdin was dramatised in 1788 by John O'Keefe for the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden.[12] It has been a popular subject for pantomime for over 200 years.[13]
The traditional Aladdin pantomime is the source of the well-known pantomime character Widow Twankey (Aladdin's mother). In pantomime versions, changes in the setting and story are often made to fit it better into "China" (albeit a China situated in the East End of London rather than Medieval Baghdad), and elements of other Arabian Nights tales (in particular Ali Baba) are often introduced into the plot. One version of the "pantomime Aladdin" is Sandy Wilson's musical Aladdin, from 1979.
Since the early 1990s Aladdin pantomimes have tended to be influenced by the Disney animation. For instance, the 2007/8 production at the Birmingham Hippodromestarring John Barrowman featured songs from the Disney movies Aladdin and Mulan.

Yeah, you're right Animat. You've now reviewed over half of the Disney Renaissance ("Rescuers Down Under," "Aladdin," "Pocahontas," "Hunchback," "Hercules," and "Mulan")! All that's left are the ones with mermaids, beasts and beauties, lions, and ape men.
As for "Aladdin" itself... what else is there to say? It's an awesome film with everything you could wish for (pun fully intended).
I assume the next film is "Toy Story (2)"?

If it wasn’t for the impactful experience I received from watching “The Lion King” in theaters back in 1994, “Aladdin” would have remained my personal favorite Disney animated film. But, because of how much I enjoyed the film from time to time, with its ability to entertain thousands of people around the world and the dedication of the team behind the making of this film, “Aladdin” is still in my #2 spot for favorite animated Disney films.

Aladdin really is a treasure to me a lot. However it's not by the characters, the humor, animation, or everything else it delivered even that what makes this movie so great... It's all by one song. To what I considered the Greatest Disney song out of all Disney Songs. "Friend Like Me".
When I was kid, I could just sing or listen that Song non-stop, no matter what version it is Broadway, Parodied, Piano, Ukulele you name it (As long it's kid friendly)
But to my impact to it was that It was the first song solo I ever Performed on Stage in my choir days. Technically it did had a rocky start, But it didn't matter cause I can really tell I did sang it so well. Even The aftermath called me out with praise to my Family, friends, and even teachers who told me they really enjoyed and were even impressed to find out I could sing, since they know me more as an artist. I know someday I can do better in it next time, but it showed it was the funnest year I ever had in my life.
But I do hope it the future Will Smith will not ruin it for me! Otherwise the Movie will be Bad. Seriously The CGI I give a pass I do like it anyway, even to Genie's design looks amazing.

Also, John Musker and Ron Clements got advice from African Americans for Tiana. Originally, Tiana's name was Mamie and she was a chamber maid. African Americans thought it was racist, so the directors changed Tiana as a character to prevent controversy. Also, they had some advice from Polynesians for Moana. Originally, Maui was supposed to be bald, but Polynesians convinced the directors to give Maui long hair. According to Polynesian mythology, Maui has long hair. Also, originally Moana was supposed to destroy and throw coconuts, but then the directors made her throw sticks instead. Polynesians thinks it's wrong to destroy and throw coconuts because it's very important for their culture. They used coconuts for many things.

Great video as always, Mat! Even though it’s not up to the level of Beauty and the Beast, I still think Aladdin is a really fun movie! In terms of the acting being over-the-top at times, given that this was Disney’s first attempt at an aggressively cartoony animated film since Alice in Wonderland, I think it fits fine here.

    Fun facts:
-In the early version of the film, Aladdin had a mother, who doesn't approve her son's stealing and carefree personality. Once Aladdin understands his mom's feelings, he promises to improve himself in an attempt to make her proud. The deleted song "Proud of your boy" openly expresses his goal.
-Jasmine also had a different personality. Originally, she was going to be the stereotypical rude and spoiled rich girl, but she was changed to the princess who wants to experience life beyond the palace and marry a man who is able to treat her like a human being.
-The peddler we see in the opening sequence was voiced by Robin Williams, too. In the original cut, he was going to appear at the end of the movie, singing a reprise of the song "Arabian Nights", and revealing himself to be the Genie.
